I am being stared at by a real cat. Think she wants fed?
1) found a £2.50 till spit to add to one i already had which went nicely towards cat food from mr t. (Can you believe mr l had run out!)
2) stuff in hall en route to dump has been dumped. Welcome back hall :-)
3) lunch with dd2 and ds the birthday boy who 'paid' cos he gets 10% discount with stoodent card (money saved and some spent in suit shop getting his birthday pressie)
4) Braved the room of requirements, removed one box to sort. Most to shredder or recycle, some to bin, and found my ipad earphones yay
5) dd1 home from work and we had birthday tea. I added indoor sparklers to candles on cake. Very pretty

ampersand - we are indeed VERY lucky. We must all try to live life to the full. I read an interview with Jonny Wilkinson the other day. He'd been told by one coach to imagine that his whole life was being captured on video: would he be proud of what he saw and how he spent his time/managed his behaviour? Happy birthday to you. x
A couple of busy days, but I'm thankful it's the weekend. Always good for a breather.
1) Course yesterday about how to be a mentor to teaching students, but this was from a third university! New teaching student will be starting with me next week.
2) Yesterday I had a free lunch on the course. Who said there was no such thing?! Managed to nab a free pencil too.
3) Got home last night to be asked round to the in-laws as they were having a little party. We ended up as wine waiters and managed to nab some food too.
4) Went to London to see Tigers lose at Harlequins. Good day out though and helped to continue one of my new year resolution of "See Tigers play away more". Really should have added "and win" to that, shouldn't I?!
5) Took our own salad for lunch, rather than being tempted by local pubs or stopping at expensive service stations. Meant that we were able to have a drink in the bar without feeling too guilty!

Evening all
Five pleasures for Saturday:
1. Have only been outside once today and that was to chop kindling and bring in some logs. House is nice and toasty and I've not had any inclination to venture further.
2. Ran myself a bath this morning and used up the last but one of my Christmas Lush bath things. It was a lavender one that made the water very murky and covered the bath in sparkles but smelled delicious.
3. I have, at last, taken an inventory of all the store cupboards and have also made a note of things that are going to hit their expiry dates before Easter (or have already expired but will still be ok) to remind me to try to use them up sooner rather than later. And... I emptied out the whole of the packed chest freezer and made a list of those contents as well before repacking it more sensibly. My OS/MSE halo is glowing. (I am astonished at the number of crumpets we seem to have acquired. They'd all been lurking right at the bottom)
4. Cheery phone call from my mum.
5. Another NSD.
Sweet dreams

An exciting day chez Frith!
1) A good sleep, although an early start to clear sons' room.
2) Builder here after 8am.
3) Last night's shepherd's pie for lunch.
4) School friend phoned. She has had a flu thing for days.
5) Plastering finished! Looks much better.
6) A mad hour cleaning plaster dust off EVERYTHING.
7) Went to wassailing at mum and dad's with brother, 2nd mum and dad and youngest brother of 2nd dad and his wife (he is one of 7). Had a big dinner, bonfire then some accordion/melodion/trumpet music!
8) Home now. Bigger son helped me lift the bunk beds out of my room into theirs so I will at least be able to go to bed. All the other furniture still in my room!
9) Exciting evening planned. Sons have the big blow up mattress on the living room floor (their room still damp and plaster too easy to mark) and they've got Skyfall on. Stove going well and we're going to have a "midnight" feast (it might actually BE midnight, the way things are going!) Samosas and some party rings 2nd mother gave me as her grandchildren didn't eat them all.
Just the skirting boards to fit in sons' room, and the door surround and he's coming back Wednesday to do that.0 -
Good evening from a very warm Melbourne, after a few cool days back to being warm again.
Some weekend pleasures in a weekend that included 15 hours of work.
Nice drive to and from work. Beautiful red flowered trees in bloom just now. Maybe bottlebrush but I think they are something different.
Nice walk with dog yesterday round parklands and then a nice walk this afternoon around a river .....
After a nice scone and jam and cream ( after a lengthy wait ) listening to a live band playing in the warm sun with a nice breeze coming off the river.
Carrots picked from the veg patch.
Using a new bar of nice 'posh' soap!
Watching casualty just now
frith what does wassailing involve?
vjsmum a woman of property......house in Scotland going up for sale soon if you'd like to add that to your portfolio?
Have a good day0 -
Happy birthday Ampersand
Sorry VickyA - one of mine was seeing Quins winning with a bonus especially as tries have been lacking this season. It was a good game. DS2 came down to watch from uni in Nottingham and due to train problems missed the first half.
Seeing DS2 and he came home - was going back yesterday but couldn't face trip back as journey took over 2 hours longer than it should.
Had a long chat with another neighbour who is French about the events of the past week and her worries as her brother lives in Paris. Her delightful 2 year old daughter who was singing, playing and showing me her toys.
Reading my kindle on train and managed to get a seat.0 -

Tatties, cricket carrots (BAT ON!), sprouts and to finish, another load of the pud of xams. Chicken will be served with pips inn Raspberry Jam, as also included in the toe nailed onion gravy.
3 Yesterday was the usual snorkers and bacon for breakfast. With mushrooms and toms. washed down with tea and then today we
4 Today we had some cherpy cherpy cheap bakewell tarts, with tea as they were on offers at the W8rS. Other emporiums are available. Good news that was missed this week was the demise of super monolithic emporium of T. Good it hurts. Note, T and S write as they seem to be missing BoP. Good! The tiger coupons from the motor of BoP should be due soon, as we are nearly out of proper cocoa. No foam drinks here.
5 Just fort I would go backwards today, but my fivefold accumulator of last day, them Parisians let me down! Would had meant that BoPsie would had putten on her glad rags and we paint town red. maybe next week!0 -
1. Sneaky one for yesterday we popped out for milk but did do the rtc’s there was a vast smoked gammon joint that looked more like a whole leg reduced from 44.44 to 4.44 we discussed it a bit and decided we couldn’t pass it up and could chop it up, what neither of us noticed until we got back was that actually it wasn’t cooked it would take a lot of cooking through, so we get home, chop it in half and attempt to cook it. It cooked fine and I left it for the night to cool.:rotfl:
2. Braved the “office”, did a little tidying decided I was getting distracted and tackled a pile of paperwork, some shed/recycle/file pretty much I that order.
3. A needed NSD/NPD, aka stayed in home only clothes all day.:o
4. Roast pork and the works for dinner, scrumptious.:D
5. I’ve re done my cv again I will re distribute it online later so its back at the top of pile.
6. I’ve just found a book I wanted in the penny range on amazon.;)0 -
