    Evening all :hello:

A quick post tonight, I'm afraid.

villagelife - someone had to win. :) Good tries from the Quins. We left our defence in Leicester. *sigh* :o

    My pleasures today:

    1) DH and I walked into town this morning, grabbed a coffee and a read of the paper.

    2) HM beetroot soup from the freezer. I had a minor panic when I went to the loo. :D :rotfl:

    3) HM chilli con carne for supper from the freezer. We're running down stocks, but the freezer will need re-stocking at some point.

    4) Finished my book! :j :j Tweeted the author and she was delighted that I'd enjoyed it.

    5) Printed T*sco vouchers for products from my Clubcard account. For some reason I didn't know I had a few on there. Most of the items are ones I buy anyway, which is a massive bonus!

    Night all

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    1. Took a dress and tights back for a refund, decided I really didn't need them so the money has gone into the savings account
    2. Didn't stay for lunch with friends, I came home and had a croque monsieur instead saving myself about £8.
    3. Called into Mr M before he closed, bought a punnet of tomatoes, a 'sweetheart' cabbage, 4 leeks, a head of broccoli, a kilo of apples and 2 punnets of grapes for 9p each. At the dairy section I got 4 pints of milk for 20p, a pot of plain yogurt for 10p and 4 small pots of double cream for 10p each. They are now whipped and frozen.
    4. Out of the corner of my eye this morning I saw what I thought was a long haired black and white cat going upstairs. I went after it only to find it was tabby Finn wearing a tea towel :D! He likes to rub up against the towel rail in the kitchen so must have pulled it down onto himself. There are times I wish I had a built-in camera on my fingertips
    5. Paid my annual joining fee at the leisure centre in the nearby town, only £7.70p for the year and £1.45 each swim, as many times as I care to go. Having seen what private clubs charge I'm very pleased with that.

    Sweet dreams :)

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Bunkbeds back up and sheets on and more post-plastering tidying done.

    3) Went to see Paddington at the cinema and enjoyed that. Met someone else from the village in there!

    4) Made a pasta bake for tea.

    5) Caught up on Casualty on iplayer.

    6) Had a chat on the phone with my sister (just short of 38 weeks pregnant....)

    7) Watched a bit of Celebrity Big Brother but that Ken chap (no idea who he is) is so awful I turned to Shaun of the Dead!

I was going to spend all day in the garden as sun was out but had to take DS2 to station and two trips to garden centre. Both for needed stuff but first was with DH and I showed him Santa's grotto which has won awards.

DS2 trip back to Nottingham was straightforward and quick.

Enjoyed working in the garden and did lots of tidying and filling rabbit holes.

Had shepherds pie for tea which I had prepared in the morning.

Evening of watching tv mainly Foyles War.

Good evening from land of the hot sun!

I've had a day off work and it's been most pleasant and ....no work calls or texts! Wow! I've just sent 2 texts so I don't have to interact tomorrow!

Anyway, got up ...potter, potter did an ironing and tidied kitchen ( again ), phoned friend from home and had a good chat with her, took dog a walk and then went into city with DD2.

We had a lovely day , it was hot but a nice breeze was coming off the river where we were for most of day.

Train in and went straight to the cathedral , sat quietly and then lit candles .

then had lunch at south bank, sat outside and ate our food court lunch rather than restaurant lunch. DD bought her own. I had a rather nice baked potato.

Passed the tallest building in Melbourne , the Eureka Tower and decided to be tourists and go up inside. The views were amazing as it was such a clear and sunny day, we were pointing out all the landmarks we knew.

Then wandered further along by the river Yarra and had a very delicious ice cream and sat and watched the river cruisers go by.

Then along to a shopping outlet...DD is a shopper.....I am not particularly...find it quite tedious as she tries stuff on , hums and haws about what to get etc. my purchases were from 2 stationery stores! I bought myself a journal for being thankful ....so will be a bit like me OS pleasures! ( whispers....also bought a new advent doodah and 2 wooden trees to be hidden for next 11 months...they were very reduced)

Then we went back into the sunshine and sat on old fashioned deck chairs and had a soft drink in the sun at south wharf, overlooking the river and watching the world go by fairly quietly.

Train home, got seats and didn't have too long to wait.

I'd taken the remains of Christmas ham out of freezer this morning so cooked that ( note to self.....oven on for 90minutes increase heat in already hot kitchen...do not do again!) , boiled some rice, saut!ed an onion, mushrooms, our own carrots from garden, a red pepper or capsicum as we call 'em over here, the remains of the red cabbage from Christmas and chucked in a whole jar of mango chutney and some 'juice' from gammon joint and had a very tasty tea. The fridge is very bare but still plenty in freezer to use up. I think I may just go to fruit and veg shop and bakers tomorrow and do a tiny top up rather than expensive supermarket one.

Had a nice walk with dog and OH ...which was free!

Tomorrow's to be cooler but will be spent at hospital with OH....planning on taking library magazines to read whilst I wait.

    Have a lovely Monday :)
  • Mhags hope all goes well with hospital visit tomorrow

    Pleasures for sunday

    1. sunny bright morning. Washing out on line. Very blowy cold wind brrr !

    2. wrapped up and went for a walk via local pond. Lots of bird life. Good to stretch my legs

    3. afternoon nap after all that fresh air :o

    4. more ironing done

    5. Timed the batch cooking of some chicken breasts for DS lunches this week so that I could make a quick easy dinner at the same time. Chucked in some jacket potatoes (done part microwave/finished off in oven), veg in steamer and frozen lamb shanks in microwave and it was ready for when DS got back from police specials training

    Today

    1. This morning is cold windy and wet outside. I am not going out as my car has gone for its MOT. The dealer I bought it from has a complimentary collect & deliver service so they picked it up at 9.30. I usually do my food shopping on Monday but I bought in advance on Friday when I had a day off work on leave.

    2. Have managed to keep warm wrapped up in big cardi and have been doing more batch cooking mince / burgers / meatballs and chilli, so the heating has been off all morning

    3. have done more ironing .... will I ever get to the bottom of the pile

    4. had some of the chilli with rice for lunch

    5. car dealer has just phoned and car has passed its MOT !!! So only cost £39 :j

  • A pretty productive OS day even if I do say so myself!

    1) Leftover mashed potato and fajita mix for tea
    2) A dear friend who is moving house gave me her spare bedding set and cake decorating equipment
    3) Walked to a friends house (in the rain) rather than getting a taxi
    4) Finally got round to handwashing a pile of clothes that has been making me feel guilty every time I look at it for faaaaar too long!
    5) Hand made a birthday card for a friend

Hope everyone is having a lovely OS filled day (...even if it is a Monday!)

Good day at work today even if it was very, very hot. The day seemed to flow and I read my kindle on minibus which was there when I arrived in the morning.
The soup I made was very good.
Went shopping on my way home and spent £18 and hopefully it will last the week with the veg box delivery on Wednesday.
About to cook sausages for tea followed by jelly.
