    Didn't get to bed, finally.

Well vjm - I'm sure we send those multi-merci's boomeranging back for you, for your friend, for that finest affirmation:
'Life is for living - the two events above, confirm that to me.'
-also for you having had the SAC. rather than points on d/l. Recall &strop self being rather bossy over this when your heinous infringement was revealed.

Awful to think that so many people will use the actions of extremists to tar all muslims with the same brush. They should be reminded that the Ku Klux Klan were 'Christians' but no-one considered them representative of all Christians. Dread to think what the repercussions will be.'

I am replaying today's World At One[from which I normally steer clear, loathing News as I do].

May I beg of you all, please, at least listen to Karim at 1707, then - ESPECIALLY - Bernard Kouchner[yes, he did found M!decins Sans Frontières, before becoming a Ministre] at 2105. [bop - please will you and Lady bopsie listen, too? - about 7 minutes of your lives]

    Here comes a pleasure:-)
Continuity announcer for Hurrchers today made droll reference to Kenton cleaning out the Hadron Condensor, after Will Self's stropping around A Certain Collider at Cern....hmm, you had to be there, je suppose:p.
and it's hard work meeting up h'with hurrchrrs these days. Let's all wish that newbie producer Sean O'Connor an upward and onward meteoric dispatch to pastures better suited.

Good morning from Friday :) it's raining ( it's pouring!) and the birds are singing loudly and it's blessedly cool after a week of intense heat.

I've woken with a touch of labyrinthitis so hoping if I ease my way gently into the day it might disappear ....I've rather a lot to be done today so it doesn't suit to have it...not that it ever does.

Pleasures for Thursday.....well I think the main one was finishing work. The most awful working atmosphere between 2 colleagues was horrid. Not too sure what was going on but not very nice. Changes are about to be made ( conversation I was to have has not been done yet...hopefully today ) and hoping to move forward from there.

Ran for the train and just got it! It was so cool inside.

Poor DD1 had had some minor foot surgery done so was sitting with her foot up and appreciated lunch being brought to her, we had an afternoon of watching UK telly!

A loaf of delicious white bread fresh from our local baker disappearing quickly, DD2 had pate on toast and DS had French toast , DD1 was going to a friends for the evening and did not require fed here.

OH and I enjoyed a Thai meal together and it was ever so slightly cooler when we left as it had been when we went in.

I had to stay up later than usual to pick up DD1 as OH had had a beer.....she just assumed her dad taxi would pick her up! So straight to bed when I got home.

    And that was Thursday :)

I'm looking forward to having some fresh air in the house today after days of intense heat. I think I need to go school shoe shopping today ( oh joy!) , grocery shopping and a touch of housework but all will be easier now it's cooler.

Have a good evening all :)

Eta vjsmum hope you hear about your friend soon x

Tragic time in France. Though I rarely agree with Nick Clegg, I thought this was great: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/nick-clegg/11333256/Watch-Nick-Cleggs-amazing-answer-to-phone-in-caller-on-Paris-shooting.html

    I have pleasures:

    1) NSD :j :j

    2) Applied for a free Tastecard. Martin :money: has nabbed 2015 free 12 month card. Those who are unsuccessful will get a 2 month card. http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/taste-card#tastecard

    3) Sausages for supper. Yum!

    4) Items put into charity clothing bag. I'm sure I can find more...

    5) Another small payout from TopCashback! :j Every little helps...

  • Evening all.
    1. The Paris massacre obviously isn't a pleasure, but seeing the way people are coming together is. It's refreshing to see the vast majority of people realising that a few individuals do not represent a whole belief system. I teach at a school with a large Muslim population and am currently teaching about ideologies, so got some very sensitive and intelligent questions from year 9s today.
    2. Preparations in full swing for bday gathering on Sunday, excited to see family - will also be the first time most of my family meet OH's family, so that should be a giggle.
    3. Keats (the fluffmonster) is being adorable. Lots of rolling around looking very cute.
    4. Customer contacted head office to praise OH for his help - unexpected for him, and I'm very proud.
    5. Managed to get a YS bargain on a Finest dessert I've had my eye on for a while, so I can try it for far less than otherwise. Hurrah for dessert!

Hope all poorlies are feeling better.

If you ever want to rent out your house for a week, VJsmum, you know where to find us! Didn't make it to Wales at all in 2014 (well, not that part of Wales), after visiting every year since 1992. (Also hope you hear good news about your friend).

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Took my brother to the allotment and he is building me a new greenhouse. Area cleared and hoops in place so far.

    3) I popped to bank (recommended by M Lewis) and opened a savings account for bigger son. 6% interest!

    4) Bank lady pointed out that I could swap my account and get £100 golden hello so I have another appointment to do that on Monday.

    5) Back to allotment with sandwiches and the weather was nice. We were attacked by 2 bees! We're used to dad's docile bees but the ones on the allotment are not so nice. I swung my head round to avoid one bee but managed to head butt it and swat it into brother's face! No stings today.

    6) Got tidied, fire lit etc before sons came home and also did a large pan of mince. Spag bol tonight and the base of a shepherds pie ready for tomorrow.

    7) Bigger son did all his homework with no fuss. I am still in a state of shock.

    8) Enjoyed watching Would I Lie to You? Always good to see June Brown who is the spitting image of my grandma.

Found permanent marker amongst white board pens so have removed that
When I was acting as a colleague's TA she used a flipchart marker on a wipeboard. Needless to say it was a borrowed wipeboard as it was on community premises, so was a panic moment for her.
I remembered an old tip, if you go over the flipchart marker with a wipeboard pen, it does all wipe off. She'd written a lot and it took me ages!

What also works is any form of alcohol. One woman I knew years ago used up half a bottle of Je Reviens perfume on a county council wipeboard. It worked, though.
