    1. First day back for me too, but I spent the day learning restraint techniques..........fun but I hope I never have to use them.

    2. Tired but at least I'm upstairs nearly ready for my bed.

    3. Got home in time for dinner with DD and my folks.

    4. Yummy watermelon for breakfast, nomnomnom.

    5. DD helped me sharpen a billion and one (well, not far off....) pencils as I had not a single sharp pencil; in the whole classroom! (And as deputy head 'helping' during my first lesson tomorrow, I need to look reasonably organised!)
  • 1. Also had first day back today! Even a twilight INSET and my two least fave classes didn't ruin it - a minor miracle.
    2. Been asked to teach the rest of the department about the scheme we're doing with Y9 at the moment as I understand it the most. Feeling pretty proud of myself for that, especially as an NQT.
    3. Started learning Spanish with the Michel Thomas method with OH tonight as a bit of a hobby. Apart from continually forgetting the formal 'You' it's gone OK.
    4. Clear run home at rush hour on the motorways, a previously unheard-of joy.
    5. OH's plumber uncle is coming over tomorrow to discuss completely redoing our bathroom :D

    Evening all :)

Thanks for the info on mould Frith. We are in for a long battle then. I've had the dehumidifier on in DS1's bedroom all day while he was out. It's noisy.

    Five pleasures for Monday:

    1. Made soup with one squash, two tired red peppers, three bendy courgettes minus their dodgy ends, and some onions. It was er unusual, not unpleasant but rather strange. DS2 ate it at lunchtime somewhat suspiciously. I didn't really tell him what was in it. ;) Froze four more portions. Maybe I can throw some spices in it and use it as the base for a curry sometime? Pleasure was the guilt free feeling that some about-to-expire veg had become vaguely useful. Then cooked the red cabbage with balsamic vinegar as one of the veg for supper. Another difficult veg used up much more palatably. :)

    2. DS1 came home earlier this evening so got to chat.

    3. Nice hot fire burning tonight.

    4. Last Tango on iplayer, Broadchurch apparently on later on tonight.

    5. Another NSD :T

    Sweet dreams

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1) Survived the early start :-/

    2) Smaller son very happy to be back at school and to talk to his TA.

    3) Did paperwork type jobs. Applied to work during election time again, put stuff on Freecycle, printed out sons' thank you cards etc.

    4) Lunch at mum and dad's.

    5) Went swimming with my brother.

    6) Brother set a mouse trap in the loft for me (hasn't worked yet as I was woken again last night by the noise of shredding above me!)

Didn't feel very well as the day went on so had an early night.
  • Bums, no it is no that either!

Hugs to all, and newbies and poorlies and, my favourites. Back to schoolies. No, me you knows! DD. What can I say about tin pots!

Now, as all know I stopped watching the abuse news on the Bolshevik Broadcastrating Commissariat at 21:33Z 1982-05-03. Last eve, was switched on to watch the Challenge of University, to witness particulunts trespassing and being a complete travestry to those that served. Now, as I watched another programme, by two Argentinians, one of whom last a relative during the conflict. That programme, by another broadcaster was called Blue, White and Blue, was broadcast again over Christmas. I watched this as I also was involved in that minor and nearly lost, skirmish. That was one where my colleague, Steve Marks last his brother Skid, and how fitting that programme was in it's presentation. Even, as I remarked earlier last year, it even showed both memorials, and was jerked to see the name . M Marks, GRDSMN.

Now take the Bolshevik Broadcastrating Commissariat invasion of Argentina. If I had not recently purchased a new TV, it would now be in the yard!

Please Boycott this disrespectful channel and pay no more TV Tax.

    Rant over!

5 if yous outs and abouts on the M25 Thursday, and Chelmsford way, if you want a personal wave from BoP, be on one of them bridges and lets hoot along!

4 BoP has interview lined up on Thursday, got it. Should be not tooo fars from SparraShire, so early, well mid morning worms will get the birds.

3 Talking of Birds, Raffles, of this parish, was found by BoPsie this morn, waltzing along the road and strutting along as he owns the plaice, into the protected, by our local non time giving, entities of CONservation, and reduced the local populace of birds by one. But why he has to flap the thing into the side room, one has to beg no questions. BoPsie does feed him, his usual, as he is the two in ten cat, and only eats the Blue packet from W8rZ. He was fed this mourn!

2 Night is party of BoP. Well, not really, Just feel like the hair coming down! And BoPsie, rags of Glad are being polished up. Think the nails are going to be done as well. Me, I will get a yard, of ale, head start!

1 Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things. wc

    Hello :hello:

Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and happy new year.

Pleasures for the last couple of days,
    1. Enjoyed last day off work with DD with a trip into London paid for with Christmas money. Lunch at My Old Dutch Pancake House, DD's choice, she does like a pancake then onto the theater to see The Commitments. Took the bus from the restaurant to the theater and did window shopping in all the very posh shops as went past. Also had a little wander around China Town.
    2. Meal planning using freezer stock, its that time of year again when I really must defrost the freezer (will see how we go :o). There could be some strange meal combinations coming our way over the next couple of weeks.
    3. The children at nursery where DD works shared more than christmas presents with her. She had head lice over christmas  but the OS pleasure is I didn't get them off her and the good OS treatment of conditioner and a comb is still the best.
    4. Managing to get home from work ok last night as I hadn't realized that the ground Wimbledon use is in the town I work in but the traffic flowed no worse than normal.
    5. Seeing the homeless man that I look out for. I hadn't seen him for a little while and was a bit worried but he was in his usual spot last night so bought him some dinner. Believe in the pass it on it could have so easily been my DB at one point when he lost his way in life a bit.
    6. A very special one for this, a friend that is heavily involved in the guides for lots of years and has been so good to DD in encouraging her and mentoring has had all her hard work recognised by being awarded an MBE in the New Year's honours list. It really could not have gone to a more deserving person so pleased for her.

Hugs to all who need them and those that just want one. Hope everyone has a peaceful and happy year ahead.

An early good morning from Wednesday....a day off for me and most welcome , the last 4 days have been very busy and my back and hips and all other ageing parts of my body have felt it! It's been very warm overnight and to be a 40o day today ( Oooft!) so shall get up soon, write a list of what needs done...there's a lot to do ...and do as much this morning before it gets too hot.

    So my Tuesday pleasures were...
Nice walk with my dog first thing in the morning but oooooh it was still dark at 5.50am.....winter's coming!

Free train ride. When I travel on and off before 7am it's free, so all the while I was doing early starts I wasn't paying in the morning but when I do the later close shift , although I start at 8.30am I have to pay....so nice to get a freebie.

I was in my kitchen. It's funny that I am now happiest when I'm in the kitchen at work. I get a bit stressed when others are in as they are not as able as I am now.....but I was not that way almost a year ago when I started when I used to dread my kitchen shifts. I try hard not to be like old bumphergums! I have an inner control freak who I have to quell at times!

Didn't have long to wait for a train going home bought a bag of chips and shared them with DD2......

When I got home, I found, DD2 sitting in the tiny paddling pool we picked up last week for the dog( who won't go in the water part) , it was so warm and she was cooling down. It did make me smile, then she got out , dragged a chair over and sat and had her chips with her feet in the pool ....I sat in the shade. A nice moment!

Had a lie down on my bed as it was coolish. I actually didn't sleep just lay and read for a bit.both girls came in for a chat at different times.

Took DD2 to an appointment I have to wait for an hour so took 2 library books which are due back today , and took photos of recipes in them .( cook books) the library is now refurbished and reopened on Monday after 7 weeks of closure so will be nice to see what they've done.

Home and watched Waterloo road and an episode of wanted down under.....we might have giggled a little at their horror of wages and living expenses.....it ain't cheap out here!

The night before I had a chat with my new next door neighbour over the garden fence at our veg patch. She's a bit eccentric I reckon but nice enough. Dog doesn't like her and barks and growls......whilst other people he's all over them. She's just a bit strange. Anyway strange or not she gave me 3 lemons off the tree! Lemon curd I think.

Have a good night ......I'm off to potter and phone my friend :)

So that has to be a record for earliest call on a day off....just as well I'm up!!

    1. Lovely first day of school :)

    2. I was given a furry moustache out of a Christmas cracker by one of my children - naturally, I decided that wearing it to assembly might not be the best course of action, so saved the pleasure until the afternoon, when I wore it, coupled with a bow tie that one of my children "keeps for emergencies" - well, what better emergency than when her teacher is wearing a 'tache?!? :):):) So glad I didn't have a camera....eek

    3. Had my kind of, but not really, observation first thing this morning and the children didn't let themselves or me down. Phew! It was tough though, having that level of scrutiny in the first lesson of the year!

    4. Yummy scrummy crumpets with butter, nomnom.

    5. More of my sales 'bargains' arrived in the post, my gold going out handbag is awesome! I love a bit of sparkle :)

    6. My chum at school gave me a weekend bag she got free when ordering a pair of shoes from a website, woohoo! It's rather naff but very MS, so I love it!

    7. Just about to go and watch the new series of Silent Witness.
