Evening all from a much more pleasant and cooler Melbourne ....a much more comfortable 24o...you've no idea the difference! I am a much nicer person
Up early and enjoyed a walk with my doggy in the rain.
An absolutely madly busy day at work ...and the good news that boss is going to have chat with colleague and not me! Phew!
DD2 worked very hard today ...we all did.OH and pup came to see me.
Home and then went out for a late lunch/ early tea....last day of OHs holidays.
Did grocery shop, didn't need too much as have loads in the freezer but did need fruit and veg milk and bread and probably didn't really need all the half price Christmas paper/ decorations/ paper plates that I paid for too!
The two baby tawny frogmouths are in the tree above my washing line. Took some photos of them , they go so still and are so camouflaged like a tree trunk. Fabulous!
DFV my Christmas taste must have are mince pies. Love 'em!
Have a lovely day .0 -
My clean-up thingie has just cleaned out my post! so will come back later and try to remember what I said. Take care if you're going out, it's very slippery on the roads0

Trying hard not to spend money this year, so going to try to post on here to remind myself of all the things i really enjoy that cost nothing. So today
1. Finding a daffodil in bud in my garden - it is now spring by my reckoning!
2. Cleaning out the hens and finding that one had started to lay again (they always seem to stop when the days are really short)
3. Tea and hm fruitcake made with my nans recipe
4. Bringing home a stalk of sprouts from the allotment for tea
5. Another trip to the tip and the satisfaction of four more bags of rubbish that are no longer in my house!0 -
Don't let bop's Lord Raffles read no. 3.
PM2DD That joke, naughty cushion for you!
Welcome newbies, and new cats. Jenny send usual :heartpuls to those in need.
5 Did emporium rush this mourning. W8, it gives us free Sunday paper, and we has coupon as well. And it was back to normal, £22.40. Would have bin even cheaper, but we needed T. Rolls. Goes on list as TROLLS.
4 Usual sea bass, with peas and tatties for tea, with matured 8 week old fresh home maid vegetable soup winter warmer. Oh, the usual home maid parsley sauce, maid to a secret hounded down the generations, recipe.
3 Got all steamed up sat day, as we watched again, the Titfield Thunderbolt. It was true as it was filmed in vivid technicolor. There are more flicks this week, Gentlemen prefer blondes. May watch!
2 Just waiting to watch the Arsenal thump the little team from Kingston.

Good luck to anyone heading back to work tomorrow,
1.I tried to get a book 2nd hand and from the library’s round here but had to give in and order it so a little spend, it’s a book on San Fran, and thanks for the tip DFV when I was looking the hotels offer a free wine and hot nibbles hour for residents now I realise why.:o
2.I shall be happy when we get up earlier again, at the moment I keep waking up in the afternoon and I am not keen on it as I’ve lost the day , I have a phone interview tomorrow so have to be up
3.Mesmerised by watching the woodpeckers when they come down.:o
4.Easy bowl of spaghetti carbonara with left over ham for tea:)
5. Did get off my b%m and caught up on the washing for another day, had to tumble dry come radiator clothes for 10 mins to soften them. changed our bedding and zoom groomed neutradol and hovered the upstairs, all with additional help from 4/8 paws :rotfl:0 -
1. Marked my remaining books without giving in to the urge to set fire the lot.
2. Picked OH up from work with a thermos of tea, which he greatly appreciated.
3. Shared my feeling of impending doom at this half-term with some colleagues who are all feeling the same way - a problem shared is a problem halved etc.
4. Going to start my 'Watch Every Disney Animated Classic in 2015' challenge this evening with Snow White.
5. Long, burning hot shower is in my immediate future!February Grocery Challenge - £120.63/1500 -
Good evening all :hello:
I hope you don't mind me sharing my new year resolutions with you. I read somewhere that if you share them with people, you're more likely to stick to them. Here it goes:
1) Run more
2) Follow Leicester Tigers away more.
3) Have more fun.
4) Be more sociable (I'm naturally VERY shy).
5) Keep in contact with old friends.
Obviously all within the restraints of an MSE life. All doable.
Lurgy is still with me, and I suspect won't miraculously disappear before tomorrow in school.
My pleasures for today:
1) All day breakfast treat with the in-laws this morning. All DH and I had to do was turn up!
2) Went to see the "boys" playing and they won! :j :j
3) HM carrot and coriander soup for supper.
4) Reading more of my book. Not much more to read.
5) Clean sheets on the bed. Bliss!
Night everyone :wave:Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Thank you to those I've added on FB, I was so chuffed that you asked or asked me to ask! I don't play online games so you can relax on that front.
DfV - I think my Christmas must-have is lebkuchen of some description. This year I had to hunt around Aldi for it.
I didn't make the icebox cake this year - had ingredients and still have them - so it will emerge at Easter, I think. Solid chocolate with additions.
1. PK, I've done the same re waking up in pm, slept for hours, all I could conclude was that I needed it. Sometimes I sleep lightly because my joints hurt, this was deep sleep.
2. I girded my loins, tidied my bedroom somewhat and was rewarded by finding £12 in a jacket pocket as I hung it in the wardrobe. All those times that you dip a hand in a long unworn pocket, touch crisp paper, have a spark of excitement and then pull out a receipt... Pulling out a tenner was great!
3. Just discovered a freebie sachet of rather nice body cream in a pile of junk mail. 10 ml doesn't go far over 5'9'' of somewhat sturdy person but hey-ho!
4. Looked at a somewhat dispiriting long range weather forecast on Countryfile just now and realised I don't have to go out in any of that.
I so do not miss trooping out to the bus stop on wild winter mornings with trolley or bags of teaching gear, sometimes praying that I wouldn't slip on icy roads or pavements.
Just after I stopped having to do this they installed a salt bin at the top of the cul de sac I live off. There is a playgroup at the park opposite me and I think parents had complained. Rightly too. That road is lethal most winters.
5. Your pleasures, as always. Thank youErma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
1. Bro and his GF finally left after lunch! (Yup, it turned into the standard kind of visit....grrr, I really don't like them *sigh*)
2. Took DD for a swim this afternoon, we had great fun
3. The chap behind the counter gave us a small discount, possibly because we were the only people in the pool for the first 20 mins!
4. Am watching Foyle and...
5. finishing my maths planning for the week!0 -
Cambridge thumped us in the tin cup bop so now we jolly well have to concentrate on the league!
1) epiphany service. I love it when the chidlren carry the 3 kings up the aisle while we all sing we three kings from orient are (reckon that must be the 3 orient put past yeovil new years eve :rotfl:)
2) having wished friends a happy hew year didnt stay for pub lunch as dd2 home and we had steak pie Nom nom
3) then into town to buy new vacuum cleaner. Dd2 sez i am to share with you she researched where was cheapest and it was shop of the argonauts which is where she happens to work so a further 10% discount
4) watching an audrey tautou romantic comedy while eating last of the stollen, heated, with last of the brandy cream from thursday
5) the look grey cat gave xoh when she came into my bedroom to say goodnight - 'ahem you dont sleep here any more, i do' priceless
Oh and sneaky 6
