Broomstick “fire and marmite rice cakes” sound interesting.
    For Yesterday
    1. Sorry to every one at work today, but today here was a no alarm, no commitments day and it was lovely
    2. Trying not to get excited by the interview tomorrow but I am looking forward to it a little nervous. Sorted out my interview outfit earlier hung it up tried to make sure it was lacking in animal hair that seems to be attached to everything at the moment. Also had a call about another interview which I’ve accepted but not so appealing as it’s in “city”.
    3. Started on my book pile, with “A Gift from Bob”
    4. More and more research into San Fran, it may sound a bit sad but I actually fancy staying in the town at a motel (but no car) walking/tramming everywhere and going to a diner for brekkie, rather than on the outskirts in a lavish one, thou I may eat my words lol. Can’t book anything until I have another job thou.
    5. We really need to do a shop but would have to have gone early so we decided not to go at all. But I did take the opportunity to clean the fridge as it’s so empty, barring some left over Christmas pud and brandy butter conveniently.
    6. Lasagne – cheats pre made and any salad that was left for tea, it was ‘orrible.
    For Today
1 Up early, interview done and dusted, I’ve left them to quibble over if it’s a PT or FT role thou, I enjoyed doing the interview but I don’t think I got the role as when I have been successful previously, I tend to find out quite quickly if positive, but hey who knows positive thinking and all that.
2 Got back and the garden had lots of various birds about.
3 We popped out to a local place with CS’s and picked up a large soft fluffy neon pink bean bag for the animals £3, also picked up a weird candle wax but had led inside it was 50p to go in our lantern outside, and the pound shop provided a Jane Asher cake writing kit to experiment with. Being able to go in the afternoon was lovely as it was not crowded at all.
    4 Had a nap!!!!!
5 About to pop out for essentials leaving it late enough for it to be a little less.
  • Dig For Victory, first lesson went well but school life has interfered with any more thus far! The Disney challenge should be far easier to keep on top of - the official list is 54 with Big Hero 6.

    For yesterday:
    1. Leftovers for lunch, yum
    2. Least fave class had a great lesson, success at last!
    3. Free tickets to see Curious Incident at Lowry, snapped up gratefully.
    4. Minimal traffic on the motorways made for easy commute
    5. Curious Incident was amazing! Such clever staging and incredible performances.

    Today:
    1. Awkward member of form making an effort to behave, finally.
    2. Colleague 'officially' announced her pregnancy after a difficult year, very pleased for her
    3. Delivery from miles to go clothing arrived, few bits for OH and a lovely an Hobbit short for me
    4. Huge amount of so potash bill for tea, so more leftovers for tomorrow
    5. Year 7 class v proud of their assessments and rightfully so, they worked really hard last term.

    Evening all :)

    :hello:Welcome stargirl
PK, I think I had an 'Eats Shoots and Leaves' moment. Eating rice cakes with marmite on them while sitting infront of the fire... I think I prefer your version.:rotfl:

    Five pleasures for Wednesday:

    1. Well apart from getting in wood and washing I have not left the house today which has meant another unplanned NSD. Must do the bank, post office, library and food shops tomorrow.

    2. On my ownsome again this evening so I made myself a good steamed fish, roast spuds and salad supper, eating up bits and left-overs and very tasty.

    3. Listening to Melvin Bragg talking about the Magna Carta while I was cooking apple crumble - most pleasurable.

    4. Started work at 7am and got lots done all morning including sorting out a tangle of a timetable without too many problems, then allowed myself a lunchtime snooze.:D

    5. A fat-bellied little wren playing amongst all the plants on the back wall of our garden for ages this morning. It seemed to be finding plenty to eat.

    Sweet dreams

Oh lore too much wobbleade chez bible study. We touched on mark and his 5 loaves & 2 fishes. Now i had just got my head round this meaning if we all share there's enough to go round (i like this) and rev comes out with perhaps it's more about jesus who eternally feeds us. As per usual gbf and i swing convo round to dr who. So glad my father's house has many mansions. Mine will be showing dr who ;-)
    1) xoh gave me a lift which was very kind
    2) gbf forgot soup (you just cant get the staff!) and offered to buy us both soup dans works canteen. I needed fresh air so walked up to coop where mr heinz was £1 a can 3 for £2 and a pack of 6 rolls reduced to 66p. So lunch was 88p for the two of us.ill make an mser of him yet!
    3) immense mse joye de vivre from having 2 tins of soup in filing cabinet and 4 rolls in freezer part of works fridge
    4) sweetheart xoh walked home in torrential rain, walked dawgs then came to pick me up in car, saving me a) bus fare b) getting wet
    5) in between home and bible study got kitchen drawers at back of centre aisle sorted woo hoo. Found permanent marker amongst white board pens so have removed that! Also finished off steak pie yum yum. Always gratifying to finish off food

A funny old day, Chez Frith.

7th Jan is always a bit odd. 10 years ago today we were asleep in bunk beds (well, a travel cot for smaller son) while the very recently ex-ed husband wreaked havoc that no one told me about until quite a while afterwards. Same sort of weather as today, same Celebrity Big Brother on the TV!

    Anyway, pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Went into town for a cup of tea with my school friend.

    3) Lots more admin including Christmas cheques into sons' accounts, trying valiantly to open bigger son a Halifax account (no joy, appointment tomorrow to do this in a nearer town).

    4) Phone contract ended so got a new one today - what a palaver!

    5) Got some curtains for my soon to be replastered bedroom, 50% off in Laura Ashley.

    6) Next door's house now has a sold sign up... he's not coming back!

    7) Phone call from my brother and he's coming with me to the allotment tomorrow to put up the greenhouse he's constructed.

    8) Nice jacket potatoes for tea.

    9) Phone call from smaller son's speech therapist saying he's doing very well. She mentioned his SEN annual review next week and that she "couldn't be there". I had no idea anyone was supposed to be there, besides me and son's teacher! So speech therapist told me what was involved and said "You don't need to worry about it - but everyone else there does!" They're going to start sending staff members in at lunchtimes to play on the X Box with him, to widen the number of people he will talk to. :-)

    That's about it for today!

Ampersand, and BoP - I wish i could "thank" you more than once

Je suis Charlie aussi - a sad day indeed.

An additional sadness yesterday - or rather shock that i hope won't develop into devastation. One of my very bestest and oldest friends had a 5 hour operation to remove a brain tumour. Total shock, bear with me I need to write this out. Four of us friends from aged around 12, now all 50 and 51. Grew up and lived in a 100m square of each other. Been through it all. Two live in the midlands, one lives where we grew up, ill friend still in south east but a different part. Ill friend found out just before christmas she had the tumour - it is benign but needed removing. Texted around to say op was imminent. us in the midlands didn't get the text - she is ill and confused so understandable some would get missed. Others assumed we'd got it. Found out yesterday op was that day!

We still don't know how she is - I hope no news isn't bad news.

There are, as always, pleasures still to be found

    1. enjoyed my speed awareness course. Always interesting to meet new people and learn some new stuff. Points not put on licence.
    2. Permission from boss to work at home - yeah, like i am doing that now:rotfl: But i will be soon
    3. OH having a good go at the 5:2 he needs to lose a lot - for health reasons really. Seems determined but we've been here before.
    4. Having a clean and tidy house
    5. We have found a forever house - and it is a surprise. Hope I'm not tempting fate (and hope it doesn't look like bragging). OH and i went yesterday (to ice cream town, Frith ;)) to find something as a bolt hole. Intending to buy a small flat. A curve ball was thrown in at the end - just look at this house. LOVED IT. Nothing fancy - although would cost 3 times the amount in the town 4 miles away - but just a regular terraced house. I could just SEE us in it. Offer going in today - wish us luck. Life is for living - the two events above, confirm that to me.

    Have a great day all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens
