5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Evening all
Flipping cold, cough, sore throat, threatening chest infection continues apace and I'm very bored with it.
Forgetting that, here's five pleasures for Sunday:
1. Spent quite a lot of the morning in bed.
2. DS2 had an unopened packet of cough sweets left from when he had the bug and he gave them to me. Very welcome!
3. Found last year's fake greenery wreath and attached a load of real variegated ivy and rosemary from the garden to it so that it looks quite abundant and almost real. We have it hanging somewhat precariously on the front door - I think I might need to work on the fixing!
4. Eating on my own again tonight so I made a mushroomy, tomatoey, oniony, cheesey omelette which was lovely.
5. Actually managed to do lots of work on next term's dates and room bookings so feel quite virtuous.
Sweet dreams

Monday evening , almost time for bed. Watching the news which has been on for most of the day about the hostage situation in Sydney. Hoping it's resolved peacefully overnight.
Been a nice day though got quite hot in the afternoon but cooled down pleasantly now.
Swim
Made delicious lemonade scones 2 cups SR flour, 1/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup lemonade , 1/2 cup cream , mix together and 220oc for 12 mins....they are delicious. Very light and fluffy.
Walked to old school for DD2 to collect her report card....hopefully my last trip over that scary foot bridge over the highway....terrifies me!
Went for some lunch with DD1 , who by this time had her offer from university so she was happier than earlier on. Then had to buy some things for work to make cupcakes as a thank you gift for our customers custom this year....
Made cupcakes in a very hot kitchen and they looked pretty good
Nice dog walk with OH and daft pup, had cooled down to make it a pleasure.
Happy Monday all0 -

1 - 5 Can't split this up into different pleasures as it's all one event. Having got the house (almost) spotless and dinner on guests started to arrive at 12 noon when I'd suggested 1pm, but that was okay, I'm always ready early anyway and it was lovely to have some time to chat with one of my besties. Changed my mind about doing cobbler and although I haven't made pastry for years it 'puffed' beautifully, and the turkey and ham pie was a great success, the men having two helpings each. Everyone said how much they love kale so there was very little left, but I have enough other veg for squubble and beak for the next two or three days. How can people who don't like rice pudding say they wanted seconds? Was so pleased to have them ask for the recipe but there really isn't one, I just chuck in some rice, milk, butter, sugar, fruit and cinnamon - simples! Secret Santa was great fun, lots of amazingly silly fiver's worth of pressies which were all very original and caused a talking point for some time afterwards. Eventually closed the door to the last visitor at 11pm and fell into bed at 12.30am. Woke up this morning to a lovely clean, tidy house, nothing to do except have a lazy breakfast. Perfik.
One a slightly down side the laptop is very poorly, overheating like mad (and almost burning my leg). Will get DD to look at it but think it might be just an age thing - it catches up with us all eventually. If she can't fix it I'll have to start saving for a new one, so I might be joining the & club with posts being a bit erratic for a while.
On a brighter note the yellow thing is doing a great job this morning, need get some laundry out so long may it last! Have a sunny day0 -
Sparrer, try taking a hoover to the vents in the back of the laptop just in case it is the fan that has collected some dust. Just do it gently, not as if you intend to suck all the innards out of the machine! It works with mine. Also, if you sit with it on your lap, not on a board, tray or table, the vents can also be blocked which stop the fan from functioning properly so it might be worth experimenting with using the laptop on a flat surface.

Arrrrgh, no. Still no scene of BoPsie. Lost in the haze.
SPARRA. Take the vacuum to the air vents in the lap top. We always use ours on the table. If you use it on the lap. It collects fluff.0 -
Just wanted to share my FB status with you... (there is one on Iain Duncan Smith as well, but least said about that, the better)
Oh what a buzz... I just had a really lovely lady collect a chunky head torch/bike light that was surplus to requirements, posted it on the local 'Free to a Good Home' FB page. She will be using it to shed light on her music as she plays carols with the Town Band, the lady had wanted one but was finding it hard to justify the expense of a reliable make. I am so pleased I listened to the inner voice that told me to post it up on FB, she was meant to have that.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Looks as though both our B's above just joined the Great Minds etc.Club.

No Hoover here merci - it'll suck away the last of any Fenny signals there be[which is, in fact, the Whatness of what IS Happening here in Simple Torque]
For several days:
1. 23-8[oops.... that's a VICKY Pleasure, not]and & un-there to help. How I wished it! 14-12 loss at Shelford was much more the norm, Shels lucky to be only 2 points astray. Bitter cold but sun on face and affable Chinnor guests...all how grassroots rugby should be. & needed catharsis shout and had same. Very competent and well-praised lady ref. too!
Vicky - how was our Cedric??? Please tell.
2. Emporium joys continue and increase with more rtc smoked salmon patÉ. 2 more goes @£2 for 2, BUT reduced to 45p from £1.99 EACH=lovely maths[mind the gap]. & banks 54p per pot bought. Wild-caught this time too - even better. I'll Yum these until cows wander to pk's profiteroles freezer, guided by get-out hammering, and liberate them earnestly:D
3. Spits dire, with added breakage and theft and totally unexpected nastiness. Re-loading with trailer in rain...I leave you to imagine. Pleasure is releasing it here as gone, done. Try again this week.
4. Just in from ongoing all-clear and sth much better than expected at surgery.
Having met parent/Parishioner in town en route to Library, whose daughter is resting between chemo sessions for liver cancer, 9 yrs after breast cancer was shown red card....I need add nothing.
5. Good chance mtg with young person [even had the approved crimbo sth for yp's 'Mum' with me, so good]. Introduced yp to person 4. Empathy osmosis - just as I'd expected/hoped, v.v.v. good....as is news of likely next stage in Life, so fingers crossed for tmrw.
I'll leave it there - want to eat early[rtc emporium mini boeuf en croûte 50p+ditto 29p asparagus], enjoy hwb, fresh nightie and new Lib.books, before all ramps up demain to week's end.

Better make no.6.looking through that amazing page! Chaussures ni simplement IrrÉgulieres, mais extraordinaires aussi.
sparrer - BIG Thankyou for silver cleaning tip. Trying ce soir. Recent total blackening of flatware in &'s Fen water has been sudden and dramatic and requiring far too much time-wasting hard work. Something must have changed in one of the 2 H's or the O. Back to a fave & dictum:

(((Broomstick))) get well NOW !
mcculloch lovely story of Christmas cheer x
1. Monday is a non working day for me :j
2. popped into town to get printer ink at wilkos and managed to get a free parking space
3. then to asd@ for aftershave I reserved for Ds last night - its about £29-£36 everywhere else but managed to find it for reduced price of £20.80 :money: This was an extra pressie as I managed to get his trainers for £24 instead of £45.
4. decided to buy my weekly shop at asd@ whilst I was there to save a trip to ald! as I was getting weary at this point. Was pleasantly surprised when it cost about the same as my normal ald! weekly shop. I also got 3 boxes lindt chocs for family at 3 for £10. Also got some thorntons reduced to £2 to go with a bottle of fizz for niece £6
5. got home exhausted. Then doorbell went and it was replacement trainers for DS arrived ! Blimey that was quick, only got the original ones on Saturday and reported them as damaged the same day. Was not expecting that - especially with all these reports of problems with delivery from online retailers. Anyway they are perfect thank goodness...
6. Had a walk to post office with parcel sending back damaged trainers and there was no queue ! Also free returns so did not cost me anything (apart from having to buy ink cartridge to print the label, but would have had to buy ink anyway). Walked back past the local pond
7. afternoon nap !!feel worn out.
Tried to ring my boss as I have decided to try and book rest of week off. Am shattered trying to fit everything in sorting out house and washing and wrapping and packing ready to go away for Christmas. Boss was not available so I will go to work in the morning and have a word.....
