Gosh, this thread is really glowing slow this week.
Hello All, Come on rant and cheer away!
Now, the ceiling, is white. The walls, are whiter. The floor, off white. Yes, chess in the house of BoP is continuing apace. Photos soon.
Well, everything is now white, including Raffles!
Doesn't look good for the Black Knight!0 -
Hurrah it's Friday and a day off
to be a warm day which should be nice, not too hot for me.yesterday wasn't very warm!
Work was fine and finished around 2pm.
Home via the bakers shop for a sausage roll for my lunch.
Had a bath .
Got my glad rags on and off we went out to celebrate DD1 graduating high school with a Valedictory Dinner, it was a lovely night and the difference from when it was DS's 2 years ago was that I knew people. Then I knew nobody and we were sat at a table with strangers, last night we we with a family of one of DDs friends. Dinner was nice and had a bit of a boogie on the dance floor ( I age myself by even writing that phrase!) home after midnight which is a very late night for me and I'm very glad I'm off today!
Back later with my Friday pleasures0 -
A collection:
1. A small thing but very satisfying.
At the music club raffle I wanted the last fiver's worth of raffle tickets, then someone else came along. She had £2s worth of mine, won with both (I didn't) but had the kindness and grace to give me one of the prizes. A bottle of Lambrini.
2. Seeing my friend's new DGD next week, all being well. Photos show a lovely little scrap.
3. Dr C. had a fantastic time in Manchester seeing the Manic Street Preachers. He also got a bagful of German salamis from a Christmas market, which look gorgeous.
4. Friend came to help me tidy and I was able to offload various bits and pieces on to her, more to follow.. I see books, magazines that can go...
5. Being able to cycle into a high wind thanks to the cycle renovate, and finding the footcream I wanted plus a half price base layer T-shirt in Aldi.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

a few for yesterday
1 Half day at work:D
2.Took hound to park - he is a bit full on so after chasing the ball for half an hour dumped them in car and had a quiet walk in the woods to calm him down.
3. Old school friend "worried" as I had not been on the book of face for a while - I said I am dull and have nothing to post and don't really go on it that much anyway. Still its nice to be missed !
4. Cauli cheese for tea followed by errrr a takeaway
5. OH bought Xmas tree home....
5 for today
1. Had hair cut - I can see !!!
2. Banked some money that needed shifting from one account as rate would plummet if exceeded a certain amount. Mid month juggle or lose 3 %
3.The xmas tree from HELL - wrestled with 4ft of razor wire for 2 hours . Never in my 45 years have I met a tree like that !! Much blood and cursing - its now twinkling innocently in the corner...
4.DMum accidently let one of the hens out - much Benny Hill style capers in muddy garden in pursuit of a very quick and not very tame bantam .. It was easier than the tree saga above.
5. DMum off to pantomime - oh yes she is !! So I have her tiny terrier here sitting on my feet as I type.
Must get butt in gear and get some presents I guess two week today is boxing day -EEK
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Oooft it's Saturday morning and I'm just about to head to work for a hot day in the kitchen ...oh joy.
Anyway, I had a very pleasant day off yesterday and was fairly relaxed.
Nice long chat with friend from home ...it's good to talk!
Nice dog walk with muttley and DD2
Then took ( why?) DD2 to next town with me, I had something to pick up from a shop....she just costs extra money when she is with me....I have an IOU though!
Home with a dodgy tummy and spent next couple of hours in bed feeling sorry for myself, then got up and pottered around.
Went next door as the tawny frogmouths are in the tree between us but better seen from their garden. Had a nice chat with them. They hadn't seen the birds in the tree.
An early nightI love going to bed and I think my late night before had put me out of sorts .

Had a bit of a mare of a day, apparently the nhs have introduced some sort of fast track exit system but they lack any of the back up processes, so I received a call saying can I be there, me I am working and 55 miles away, then also we are delivering a hospital bed and hoist, to which I say great but where are you going to put it as you need us there to apparently now clear things out and make a vast amount of space out of nothing and arrange for it, their response is we will be there in 15 mins. For goodness sake am I talking to myself. So I gather everything up run to the docs for my apt grab dh and head on over picking up milk and getting dh to drive while I phone through an order for a weeks’ worth of pureed food. Just back home now from getting dad settled in to his acute care package and I have to say my heart is lurching and I am a bit tearful but it will pass. Pleasures.
1. Tickets arrived for a show we are seeing next Tuesday result as I wasn’t paying extra postal insurance on them:j
2. Booked the animals in to have their “malteasers” off next week as thankfully we can… boy am I looking forward to that as when those bits go so does the “smell”:o
3. Kitchen design is all booked in for next week so it will be done just in the nick of time for the sale, we’ve decided to keep the costs down a little we will be keeping the appliances, mainly as it’s taken so long to design the daft thing that we have now upgraded – replaced things as they have broken.
4. Pasta bake is cooking slowly:)
5. Animal snuggles they just know.:):)0 -
1. Had a super day with DB and family yesterday, we went to a local restaurant for lunch which had an OAP menu so DS-in-L and I both ordered whitebait as a starter from that. When it came the waitress said in a nice clear voice so the other diners could hear 'Two old people's whitebait. Don't worry about the bones dears, you can eat them because they're only soft' - she couldn't work out why we all burst out laughing. Maybe because S-in-L is 60 and I'm only a few years older!
2. DB was saying he wished he could have gone to see the poppies but like me he can't manage crowds these days. When we got back to my house I gave him his present and said he could open it then. He was so overwhelmed with the poppy he was almost in tears. Nice to get something so right
3. Went shopping when they'd gone, got 3 cauli's for 19p each, 3 bags of tiny new potatoes for 9p each and 2 good thick gammon steaks to go in the turkey cobbler for 19p each, making Sunday lunch for my visitors quite economical
4. A sudden glut of surveys over the past couple of weeks have earned me £28. Happy Christmas me
5. A few weeks ago I got notification that I'd won a year's supply of very posh dog treats but then heard nothing since so I thought it must have been a scam, or at the very least a mistake. I was most surprised, and pleased, to open the box postie delivered today, Happy Christmas muttley
Sweet dreams0
