Good morning ! It's Tuesday and I'm still in bed at 7.40am....such decadence. My early shift was changed (grrrr) and I don't start until 12.00, OH has taken pup his early morning walk so I can be a lazy bones for a change! It was so nice not getting up at 5.30am.
Anyway, for some Monday pleasures:
I worked with a new lady in the kitchen , who was in for a trial. She seems nice. Being easily annoyed by boss at the moment with her chop/ change decision making but I know this is only for another month and she will be doing something different. So I am trying to stay calm about it all and to keep smiling
Home at 1.30pm ....made the train by about 30 seconds! DS and pup came to meet me!
Watched the final episode of Remember Me on BBC whist I ironed.
Tidied my bedroom so I could get down to some serious Christmas gift wrapping. Had my music on and my bits of Sellotape cut and off I went!
We had mince and tattles for tea and it was lovely, then had mince pies and cream for pudding, love, love, love mince pies!
We went out with the dog and as usual meet lots of nice people and then 3 guys had a dog off the lead who went for the pup , at first it was okay and then dog started to get aggressive and was snarling and nipping at pup. It was horrible. Pup was not hurt but very shaken. Surely if you know your dog is not safe off lead with other dogs it should be on a lead. As I said to OH, what if it had been the girls out with the pup? They would not have ben able to handle the situation. Rest of walk was uneventful but glad to get back home.
Right it's almost 8am, best get up and start the day.
Poorly people get better soon , frith is everything okay with you?0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
A manic weekend, with some bizarre twists! This included meeting a member of management from my favourite rugby team and me becoming all tongue-tied.Oh and then last night's rugby match was followed by a rant by one of the club's former player, who now plays for the opposition. Apparently he used words which should NEVER be heard in public.
As if that wasn't enough, I was hit by a child in my class this morning. Unprovoked, I hasten to add!
Despite all that, I have pleasures:
1) Bought a new pair of sparkly stud earrings. This seemed to fascinate my class today!
2) Started writing my Christmas cards! At last!!!
3) Went to the town's Christmas market. Bought some divine cheese... mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Yum!
4) Bought a new pair of boots with a VERY decent discount code.
5) HM soup for supper, defrosted from the freezer. Delicious! Made with carrots from our garden from the summer harvest. Yum!
Night all. It's been a funny day. Here's hoping that Tuesday is much better!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Evening all
Hugs at a distance so as not to give my germs to other (((poorly people))). I have a very, very sore throat.
Five pleasures for the last day or two:
1. Got through yesterday feeling woozy but it was OK and there were lots of happy children around. Hope I haven't spread the bug further - probably got it from them in the first place. Biggest pleasure though was when the event finished!
2. More chopping kindling in the sunshine.
3. Brief phone call with a friend but we hadn't spoken in a while so it was good to touch base and to hear that she's strong having gone through another lot of chemo.
4. Magicked up a very miscellaneous supper from the depths of the freezer. Couldn't face cooking proper. Glad to have got some edible meals still left.
5. Found an unused French course and CD on the bookshelves from our home-ed days and thought I'd make a start in revising what I once knew. My spoken French was pretty good once upon a time. It's rather rusty now but doing this course at speed with help lots.
Sweet dreams

evening all
Poorlies please be better now
Vicky - hope you walloped them back :rotfl:
some pleasures
had dinner party with old friends. Was our turn. OH cooked prawn on puri and yummy slow cooked lamb with indian spices. I did raw pudding mango "cheesecake" - no cheese though, also no sugar no wheat. it was .... alright. i liked it but i am not sure everyone did. However they were warned and we had loads of cheese a biscuits as well
And unfortunately too much wine. Hangover is gone now
one lot of marking done on time (though the complaints have arrived ) another to start tomorrow
crimbo shopping with bezzie. made a good start. Got to get some bits for the kent run on Saturday and then start on the "home" run
we also had coffee and lunch - bien sur!
the arrival of visitors meant OH had to clean the mould off the bathroom ceiling. Its been bothering me for months and it only took him half an hour, of course
caught up with carp telly - IACGMOH, x factor, waterloo road
nice crisp sunny mornings. The arrival of the cold has put me in hibernation mode again though
I think my Hong Kong role and Singapore role is as official as it's going to get - Hong Kong colleagues have been informed and i should be off in february
My suspended colleague is back :T
i think I am going to be able / forced to give up my Friday modules. I am a bit control freakish about it, but they are the ones that will be less painful to give up - and the source of alot of the marking.
Nice walk with OH yesterday
made yummy biscuits - oats, banana, raisins
that'll do for now - I go along and think "ooh I must list that as a pleasure" and then forget.
Ooh, I know - I put my tree up. Love unwrapping my decs and remembering where they were all bought. Only two new ones this year one from Slovenia and one from....... Lakeland
Still i can get hong kong and singaporish ones soon :TI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Not long in. Very much a 1-step/2-steps day[insert 'forward'/'back' to fit your own...&'s as shown]
1. sparrer: 'finished a very long and tedious sewing job I offered to do for a lady who doesn't sew.' Yup, had/did one of those, too.
2. Christingle eventually brilliant. Bungled times/places...notes not received and/or passed on, but All's Well etc.etc. Last weekend's crimbo crafts spectacular has resulted in a fantastic invisibly suspended 'ceiling' of every size and shade of pom-poms right across and end-to-end in one of our big ancient Churches. It looks way beyond terrific and leads the eye right through to parallels of colours and contrasts with the old stained glass. Gingerbread initials piped on and some ambitious decorating done at the end.
3. enzed advises arrival of 'Christmas parcel'...whether that means one or both boxes I'll ask after this. But at least something is there AND pre-crimbo, surely a record for &.
4. After all new DAB radio shenanigans, had to return it, as no sound comes out?!?!?!...absolutely silent, as if THE vital component has been omitted. Tried and tested everything, various plugs, locations. Back to grande surface, where replacement on hold...ISN'T. Can't be found though on system as shelved, then put aside for &. Oh dear. Can no longer be ordered according to one system. Can/must be ordered according to another. Mess of day that this has been, closed thus. Still OOS chez M'sieu Lewis[1st choice]. On to Argos - 14 in stock, res. ref. taken. To that outlet. Item not found. SOLD OUT. How come, from 10 mins previously? 'Someone must have bought them then, mustn't they?...NEEEEXT' with a snigger giggle.
& dusted off one of her Penelope Keith moderates[Level 3], with slight extra ice, w/o losing courtesy.
Eventually found another at another outlet, not suggested at this place - another Res. ref...yes, success, but & wishes to know si ça marche, celle-ci, before leaving avec.
'I'll have to ask my manager if I'm allowed....':mad::mad:'and I am telling you, you ARE allowed.'
They tried....and tried...no signal, because of walls, location.
So, & will shortly test THIS one and find out. Woe betide if...
5. In continuing avoidance of P&R parking charge, & is developing nice little portfolio of alternative parkings near meshing bus-stops. Comme ce soir, but bus didn't come. Young chap also present, knowledgable. I say &obile's just round that corner, if he needs promptish ride to town. Accepted with alacrity - we'd waited>20mins, with next arrival supposedly 19 mins more. Interesting chap. I say where I need to pull in if this suits. He says 'Perfect', then asks a key i.d.?, to which & cagily replies. Turns out he's intuited sth and says his Dad was Head Wallah at a place which & guesses immediately. We talk so much more, most happily. & needs to leave sth for young person referred to often here over the last few years. Passenger insists on giving & £10 for 'whatever fits....' & refuses over and over. Young man is=to this:-), so I finally detail for him exactly where his note will go and why. He is delighted, says he'd have chosen same....
This has been a special and good end to a That Sort of Several Days.
So, why not name him - THANKYOU JAMES:-)))))))))))))))))))))))
Also 5. & knew a good blue glass paperweight, signed, ex-France, resided somewhere in her 'not for Albion' stock. Handed it over as poss.gift that young person can give to Mum, a dolphin fan. Sudden idea came of sorting it with a boxed 'Mum' mug ex.John Lewis - bought a few Orla K and Cath K, heavily discounted, a long while back. Thought shared, offered, accepted - will deliver next time.

I envisage Raffles sitting back, directing all [STRIKE]chess moves[/STRIKE] with languid paw until his Master Bedroom is fit fur......etc. Decisions, decisions for Raffles. Bop and Lady Bopsie must still be within kitchen calling, zip-pouch cats prefer vicinity 24/7, scrabble tile upchuck range, newt prep. surfaces, but clearly these two lodgers, whose combined footfall barely equals Raffles' superior 4, must not entertain ideas above Life station...

It must be time I made everyone sing one of &'s Most Favoured carols. I do it every year in this space.

Evening all
Pleasant evening here after a nice day , after a coolish start to the day .
Had a relaxed morning, took the dog out twice for walks.
Work was fine, did a closing shift which I've not done for a while. Mad dash for train which was delayed so got to catch my breath. Train was so busy and I was squashed next to a baby in a pram who needed it's bum changed!
Nice walk home, the jacaranda trees are stunning, the roses smelled beautifully and DD1 was there to meet me ( almost half way home) with pup, so we went the long way back home.
Received a Christmas wall hanging thingy, that has words on it but shaped like a tree. 25% off and free delivery!
Just made a chilli for tea .
Seems the coffee cheesecake isn't cheesecake but a coffee and pecan sponge....although I don't like coffee to drink I don't mind a coffee cake
Will go a walking with dog and OH after dinner .
Enjoy your Tuesday
vicky hope it turns out better than your Monday
.sparrer I'm so glad you have been reunited with your granddaughter and her family. Truly wonderful and glad you all had a lovely lunch .0 -

Good evening everyone :hello:
VJsmum - as tempting as it might be, I didn't.
ampersand - thanks for those links. I forwarded one to DH. I'd forgotten about that, but it gave me goose bumps when I watched it. I look forward to watching it in real life! My personal favourite is when Munster fans sing The Fields of Athenry - goosebumps and tears.
My pleasures:
1) Thank you, mhagster, my Tuesday was far better than Monday.
2) Was on a course today about how to get to outstanding teaching. Really thought provoking and one I'll enjoy going to.
3) Bought my fantastic student a few presents to send her on her way. I've got a photo frame from Wilkos, in which we're going to put a photo of the whole class. I've even had one boy write a letter to her tutor, explaining that Miss J has missed so much school that she has to stay with us! I think Friday, her last day, is going to be emotional for everyone!
4) Christmas cards have all been written! I'm putting off wrapping the presents!
5) Watching Kirsty's Homemade Christmas. I'm hoping to become creative just via watching!
6) Just heard that a friend is 20 weeks pregnant. She lost a baby last year, so my fingers are firmly crossed for her. Her two daughters are looking forward to being big sisters!Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0
