Hi all.
Hope everyone is well and any poorlies get well very soon.
Sorry for lack of personals but I am dropping with exhaustion, retail loves the festive season but my poor feet do not.
Some gathered pleasures:
My two sweet girls in their respective nativities.
Always a joy to watch.
A hug from my lovely other half when the world is crazy and I need a solid centre.
A very respectable 80% in my first ou assignment, chuffed as haven't studied for 12 years. Pleased brain still works:T
Food shop organised for 24th Dec so after I finished at 1pm on x mas eve I'm good to get jammied up and hibernate till work on boxing day.
Right that'll do for now.
Hugs to all

So work was not really pleasant.....supposed to have a companion at 7am.....then had 3 turn up at 8.05pm.....following some frantic phone calls! Again, I'm biting my tongue for one whole month more, when changes will occur.
Bought the pup a rawhide bone....it's the most engrossed in something ( apart from shoes and socks)he has been.
Pup came to work to visit
Nice drive to and from work, I drive along a very pretty tree lined street that's beautiful at all times of the year but particularly now. Just the odd pretty cloud in the sky. Butterflies and dragonflies.
Went grocery shopping, used 2x $10 off vouchers ( oops , used one last week but it scanned again, I didn't think it would) , so put 2 lots of shopping through to get the use of both. I also have a $20 off voucher they sent in a Christmas card ...loyalty cards have their uses !
Petrol, has been surprisingly cheaper of late, went down again yesterday so I topped the tank up on the way home. About 1/8 of a tank!
That's about it for today...work and supermarket shopping
Have a good day
PK what's next? Some time off between jobs?
Sparrerglad you had a nice day ....with the oldies....if your OAP meal was cheaper who cares?

I have worked this week and when I arrived home I could only do bare minimum and haven't put laptop on to post. My back is now liveable with but will take a long time to improve to normal.

3. Managed - just - at work and just avoided boss on Wednesday and she was at conference on Thursday.
4. Christmas party at work - left early as a collegue wanted to leave and not dance. Suited me fine as I had eaten and sat next to nice workmates. The collegue I took home has had arough time recently and has had no support either.
5. DS1 home from uni so both are now home til after christmas.0 -

Evening all!
Spent just a fraction of a second too long gardening & have Done Something to my hand. NHS want me to report to a hospital for examination as a minimum & I want to get eldest off to his hospital for his scan on Monday so I'll tootle off to A&E after I've dropped him off at school. Meanwhile strapped so I'll not be doing my usual post by post chat. (Sorry to anyone hoping for same.)
Despite this, still been racking up good times! OS pleasures recently:
Talking a colleague through year end adjustments & grinning as he picks up on the possibilities.
Meeting a colleague stood bemused & reassuring him that the sudden blank in the memory trail is a Senior Moment, not dementia (yet). [Discovered that I can Easily trip the default dementia quiz, so got my medical notes updated with "current iphone addict & mother of teenagers" - nurse both amused & horrified!]
"Ach, fer Gawd's sake, shurrup the pair of yer!" Colleague's tender words to two colleagues coughing in stereo. ('Fraid the rest of us snickered somewhat before snuffling in concert ourselves.)
Finding Once In Royal David's City both is easy to hum & to hike to.
Laughing & coughing simultaneously - the fun is brilliant but the cough is a swine. [Stubborn too & a potent reminder to maintain pelvic floor exercises.]
Accused of adding "too much" butter to mushrooms & (separate pan) beans. I'm not wholly convinced you *can* put in Too Much.
Just pulled the original new case onto the phone & blinking at just how good it is. The cheap & adequate is revealed as just cheap & my phone is sleek again. (I can still stash one emergency plastic in the back! The loyalty stuff can go back into wallet.)
A TV program discussing how Frankenstein & how the possible fiction of science has affected writing - Blade Runner, Bill Gibson, the Matrix & more. Riveting stuff!
First Aid course test! Bandage racing & "we got points for the prettiest leg!"...
Burns. Causes of. "Friction" triggered an afternoon of guffaws & general cheerful memory-enhancing dickering... Our tutor has tagged the word as one to avoid in future sessions - which may be prudent but somehow seems a shame.
Made eye contact with a white haired lady, applauding the style which prompted her to have a purple clump dyed in. Cyclamen colours - looked sensational!
Oy vey - body for Log Roll practice. Terrifying & that's without a spinal injury!
Liked a song, great chewy guitar chords & turns out it was produced by Mark Knopfler, one of my favourite guitar players & performers!
Britain's Fortified Castles - we're cheering in recognition of sites, of historians (we've seen the Armouries chap at work!) The delight cuts through the running cough & cold.
River whispering and rippling with all the meltwater.
Planting three apple trees! [It was the edible hedging that did for me.]
Great big hugs to all who need them, restored health & secure weatherproofing amidst weird weather & ye gods I need to delegate my Christmas cards pronto.0 -
Evening all - remember me?
I seem to have fallen out of the habit of posting my pleasures recently, although I'm still thinking of them, and really must get back into the habit!
1) Nice long lie-in with Isis snuggled against my side.
2) NSD and NPD.
3) The presents I ordered online for my sister and her partner arrived, so I can wrap them and hand them over when I see them tomorrow.
4) Put the Christmas tree up and, after a brief sniff, Isis has decided it's totally uninteresting. That's a relief as I put up the big tree this year, with all my glass decorations on it!
5) Now sitting by the light of the tree, sipping a naughty but very nice glass of buck's fizz.
I hope everyone is having a nice weekend.Back after a very long break!0 -
Evening all
Still flipping poorly, sympathy to all others who aren't well. It's tedious isn't it?
Anyway, five pleasures for Saturday:
1. Treatsy long hot bath this morning after a rough night. DSs had given me some bath bombs from Lush as a present so I used one of them and the water went through various colour changes which was fun.
2. Walked through the village at tea time and loads of houses have now got lights in their windows and wreaths up on their doors - all pretty tasteful decorations, nothing tacky - so I decided to put up two little strings of battery run fairy lights in our front windows this evening. Took ages to get them to match but they look good and as if we've made an effort to join in with everyone else.
3. DSs are both out for supper tonight so my supper was a simple mozzarella and tomato salad. Forgot we had the mozzarella in the fridge - was bought for sarnies and never used.
4. My parents have given us a set of cordless phones which my mum wasn't happy about using and we set them up last night so now we have phones downstairs and upstairs plus a couple of spare charged up handsets. I'm hanging on to our old plug-in phone for emergencies.
5. Ordered some wholefoods online, including organic milk powder (as recommended on another thread) as part of my winter preps.
Sweet dreams

1. Lovely day with DGD1, her OH and two of the GGC. They treated me to lunch t the same place I went to with DB and family on Thursday. Wasn't offered the OAP menu this time
2. Her OH wired in my bedroom chandelier and put up the curtain pole. If I have time tomorrow I'll get the curtains up then I can sleep in there at last!
3. Made a huge turkey cobbler, pre-prepped a rice pud except the milk, a lemon meringue gateau and put a loaf on timer for the morning.
4. Cleaned the silverware using the tin foil and baking soda method, I'm always surprised when it works as it's so simple, and inexpensive.
5. Just laid the table with the best everything in silver grey and French blue, with hm crackers, candles and napkins to match. Mogs will be shut out of the kitchen tonight, woe betide either of them if they scatter their food around the sitting room
Sweet dreams0
