Been to london for 2 days with stoodents - had to fill in for suspended colleague. Talking of stoodents - where is DD? She has been AWOL a while, hope you are OK, DD
Pleasures for whenever
1. Trip went well, i only lost one student on the way down and two on the way back  One missed the train and then had to drive so he didn't come back either, and another decided to stay longer in London. Went to Olympic park where we went up the red tower thing (not really worth the money) but then had a fantastic guided tour of everything. Then to the RICS headquarters where there were stunning views of London from the terrace. Today we visited the building site at Battersea Power station - really fascinating (if you like that sort of thing)
2. Really got to know the students well - lovely bunch they are. Had a greek meal last night, lamb kleftikas for me, yum yum
3. OH picked me up from the station and cooked tea
4. Managed to get some sleep in the world's smallest hotel room - not much biggeer than my single bed in it.
5. Amused myself on Tuesday as I turned the radio on to observe the two minutes silence - then turned it off again when the music came back on :rotfl:
Going to sleep the sleep of the justly weary in a sec - night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
sparrer - I hope that if one of your family had a *big* win they'd give you a small part of it?
A busy couple of days for me. School is manic with trying to keep on top of things and keep my teaching student going too. She's doing really well, but obviously needs my support. Her tutor thought I was great as I am so positive. I always think of Kittikins and her abysmal placement, plus my own dire experience in one of my own PGCE placements; I am determined to be a good mentor.
Pleasures for the last few days:
1) Catch up with a friend. We really put the world to rights!
2) To do list being rattled through at a rate of knots. Then again, to do list is also being added to at a faster rate!
3) Calendar for 2015 bought! Can't wait to receive it and start filling it with dates.
4) I've volunteered to help at the school fete on Saturday as a lifeguard. Our newly refurbished pool is being opened by the High Sheriff! :j
5) More TopCashback payable. Over £200 worth this year and all from things I would have bought anyway.
6) New book downloaded to my Kindle.

Quick update as I am in bed and very tired! Got a cold too. :-(
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son's taxi actually came on time.
3) Took smaller son's trousers back to the shop (too big).
4) Oven chips for tea and some little pizzas made from muffins with sliced chicken and peppers.
5) Smaller son's first high school parent evening! A shambles appointment wise - we were there over 2 hours and one teacher had gone home before we got to see her. We saw English, maths, humanities, IT and the SENCo. Also got his report so far. All marvellous. All the teachers said they did not try to get him to talk in class (thank goodness!) and one said she occasionally asked him a question without thinking but he answers via his TA. so that was OK. Sounds like the man TA he has most of the time is fantastic - almost a shame he is off to train as a teacher soon! They've never had a problem with his behaviour and we looked at his end of year targets and for most subjects he has met or gone past those targets in 2 months!! They were pondering whether to move him up a set in maths but he gets on so well with the teacher they are going to leave him where he is and just give him harder work. I couldn't get to see the geography teacher but she is so pleased with him she emailed the SENCo today. :-)
6) Had a couple of mince pies this evening.
7) Comfy in bed (apart from sore throat) with a hot water bottle.0 -
Hey, it's Friday already.....I used to always say hurrah it's Friday as it was the end of my working week! today it was the start of mine.
Work was just fine, had a meeting with a training centre rep as I may be doing some on the job training in the new year that will give me a recognised qualification. And one of the girls I used to work with joined us for a trial session today. It was nice to see her again and I should have shifts for her over the summer. Caught up on all the gossip! Because she was there I left earlier than usual, which was nice.
It's cooled right down, it's 16o now. It was still 26o at 7am and a very uncomfortable night with it so warm.I much prefer cool!
My big boy came with me to local shops and carried all the heavy stuff back, got lots of rtc stuff at fruit shop . Then we went to bakers for bread and a cake, the lovely girl there, marked a loyalty card for us with a few extra points as she knew I'd shopped there but didn't have a card until today.
Next loaf of bread is free! My son is quite quiet ( well, very quiet really) so I do like it when we have conversations rather than just replies to my questions!
I bought my main colleague a bunch of sweet peas today . The price would shock you! However, I'd set an amount I wanted to spend and that's what I got with the money! They were wrapped beautifully and then tied with a tiny peony stem. They smelled beautifully .
I've made enough lasagne sauce for 2 lasagnes for next weekend , they will go in the freezer. I made mini sausage rolls and have frozen them. I've naan bread proving at the moment and will make mini ones and freeze them unbaked. I'm trying to something each day in preparation for feeding about 40 next weekend for DDs 18th.
I've made pumpkin and lentil soup for dinner tonight to go with nice white bread from the bakers , followed by a nice vanilla slice from the bakers.
I went into the library and borrowed some more books before it closes on Sunday for 6 weeks. Got as many as I could carry home in my arms
I've even managed to fit in a wee snooze...I was reading and woke up with a crick in my neck!
Puppy is 15 weeks old today! He's getting big and bad! He's having a bit of a mad half hour at the moment, running around like a daftie with his squeaky pig! Another 3 weeks until we can take him out for walks , as he needs another set of jags next week and then 2 weeks after that is advised. He is such good fun....well most of the time!
Have a fun Fridaypoorly people feel better soon.

Scarce seems poss, but was so.
& unawake 'til 11 bells today[and wretched 'putah is back to taking >an hour to do so and now dreary key-strike lag, which is fertile typo ground.]
Pleasures order all over shop, but sort of comme ceci:
1. Back from Spits before minuit.
2. Sheer chance, 1830h-ish Wed, meant person was spotted while & having horrendous delay run to 1st book-binding session after late loading for spits, in turn 'cos of another bird with broken wing. Check in phoning to bookbinding at several points. Turned out & not the only one affected thus. Bookbinding session was marvellous - gifted and experienced tutor, wonderful work to see and realise was possible. We're half-way: signatures prepped and pierced, boards done and we will all have a lovely notebook to keep and springboard from. Tea and lemon drizzle half-way through - and, most kindly, &'s 'explanation' for accompanying person made welcome and included.
3. Headed for Spits fuel after person drop-off, but Mr T 24hr petrol closed. Orange light now on...grrr. This would now mean 22 miles more. Set off. What was presumably cause of earlier kerfuffle now umpteens worse, after 23h of clock. grrgrrgrr. & should have some rest pre-spits 0230h start. Gridlock nightmare diversions[police and Highways Agency]meant re-routing back through Fens to City petrol. Infuriating. &squat attained 0110h. Then rubbish to sort, put out, neighbour and self. Then spits munch to do, inc. for person[permission gained]and extra time needed for diversion to collect. Then extra fold-up chair re-jigged into nil Estate space and blahblah - & is so much a solitary, esp, in matters of vehicle.
Essential shower and defumery meant bed pointless.
Collected person on time at 0230-0300h.
4. Much catch-up straight talk en route to Spits. Beautiful night, constellations/ stars clear, plough, sirius, vega. Stunning beauty. Then sights of Olympic London for new eyes and all unloaded on footpath by 0430h. FFwd. Interesting day, suitable introductions, extra set of hands that & could relax to - person did exactly as told/needed, vital in this game. Only sale £15 by 15h was eeeeeky!!!...but then all change. Fabulous vintage Prince of Wales check wool/gaberdine reversible Burberry, with silver-collared[high distinction] L!gion d'Honneur still in lapel, went back to France on back of young man, en route to City Airport then and there. He couldn't believe it, & non plus. Big £££s phew. Another coat, NZ 50's wool, Dior styled, wonderful lines, sold, again worn away, to beautiful young Hepburn-esque lass. And so steady continued. Meetings with lovely and interesting people, selling or no, the fellowship of all around - all just the best sort of impression for a different type of life, so good for person.
4. Packing, reloading - again no &tension re:'help' - and seated in car for that 'aaah! done!' moment before 20h. Crazily early! & noted throughout day that person was assessed, understood, passed muster, was trusted. Again, vital. Time then for a run over Tower bridge, The Shard repeatedly admired, YHA Thameside shown, walk across road to Old Father Thames, night landmark spotting, current commentary - both thinking we were seeing an arm slapping for'ard, back behind sluice grating[ it was a warped and discoloured traffic cone], then past Bermondsey[poor rainy forecast+high winds today]...all in all a sound experience for showing other ways, nonetheless aware of downside and uncertainty.
5. Now to ablute, will be lovely. Then to sort/empty &car. Then to modest Bank
and w8rs. This anticipation is another pleasure....before the oval ball tomorrow. My Thankyou for yesterday is an invitation to gather at The Alma or Shelford.

This slow putah is driving me mad again, except & now knows it is due to being in a Notspot.
Frith - don't be misled or worried by cowboy bluster carp. They are just playing at 'best form of defence is attack'. Their time-scale is is illegally short - panic by them into panicking you, prob. only too aware that their work is shoddy and will be found out. Why is your builder elusive now? Worrying. Well done 2nd son. Hope the tiny steps back to homework continue with 1st son.
Dear Frith - you cope with all the blips so brilliantly[even when you're feeling derailed]. Will Dad have his chart tmrw night?CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:
