5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2
Options
Comments
-
Skint yet Again - glad green song raised a grin, Wendy Cope is a family favourite... Lads adore Legends as gruesome & Sean. Poor bloke can't be Sharpe forever. Well done fending off more inputting.
Chickenopolis! Hound sounds loads of fun & enjoy the reduced hours even more than the reduced income? Cilian a delight to the eyes but has he the intelligence of equal calibre (I cheerfully confess to an unrequited passion for Ian Hislop!)
mcculloch - love the idea of reflective flashing armbands. Anything like the ones I see on police horses' legs?
CCP - I've been meaning to get a poppy badge but this year twined a poppy into my building pass. (And have three stashed in car for Remembrance Parade.) Well done Isis unfussed by fireworks!
VJSmum - The Cumberbatch will carry on being devastatingly available in repeats. Refill the Pinot & worry not! Glorious photos - oh those poppies..
greywitch - I got a very basic dehydrator & it paid for itself (£30?) within 6 months of dried apple rings. This year I'm extending my range to include herbs & eyeing jerky thoughtfully. If you really want dehydrated stuff to be good up to 18 months later, vacuum sealing in heavy gague bags is recommended, but I found I got a couple of months easily with ziplocks. (Self discipline more risky!) Hurrah finding seeds - I think I need to devote a biscuit tin to my seed stash so I can find the blighter & the envelopes of seeds are not as scattered around! Oooh, fresh fish - sometimes that blighted fishing hobby has its perks.
Purple kitten - I feel your pain! I flirted briefly with the idea of deliberately wearing stilettos but being a clumsy soul the odds were higher I'd break an ankle before I damgaed the intended target. Aww that cafe knoes & cherishes its custoemrs - I'm glad they're there for you too! OH been to & survivied dentist?! Brilliant! Virtuous stew sounds delicious (I so rarely have the ingredients.)
VickyA - hurrah the glove has bee found! Same remedy for Cumberwedding - refill your glass & enjoy the repeats. Gingerbread men are a potent force for good.
Broomstick - well done on managing weekly posts! Sawmills are amazing places. Loud, creative, amazing smells (I can sort of smell wood being sawn) & the booty is grand. (Getting it into car sometimes more complex - our bloke seems to enjoy watching me field strip the Mondeo and fail at least twice before offering to deliver.)
mhagster - now there's a destination I'd never thought of, Pup Pie. That to do list,on top of your normal activity, leaves me reaching for a sustaining brew! Health & strength to you! Clsoed librtbayr - yikes, but all good luck with school move & ending exams.
BoP - I would endeavour to abide by your sage advice, but tonight is the Scouts Bonfire night & keeping away would not be considered quite the article.
Frith - may all the desire paperwork show up promptly, and may eldest son have a Damascus road moment Soon. Hurrah bank being unreasonably reasonable!
Sparrer - so looking forward to hearing you get into your 'new' room but grilled chestnuts sound wondrous.
CCP - admiring your running repairs & that you have such a honey tongued boss!
ampersand - sensational textiles rehomed & further textiles in bathrobe form cradling you rightly! May the Albion be a source of grace much as compline can be?
OS Pleasures recently
Watching the cloud play hide & seek with the full moon.
Enjoying son wrestling with tongue twisters & science puzzles.
Harvesting herbs before forecast frost by moon light with fireworks!
The kitchen table has bundles of herbs piled up (awaiting the dehydrator) & it all looks a bit Eye of Newt....
Vigorously worded exchange of emails over rules of engagement for Parents Evening. Remain unconvinced I am the Right Parent but have been given my marching orders.
Swans on the river! Both reaching for something deep as they were utterly upside down when I first looked.
Scout fireworks brilliant plus a smashing bonfire & lots of happy families - good times!
More Scout training tomorrow - looking forward to it as learning/ growing/ me-time. Odd to study to be in loco parentis but riveting!
Big hugs to all who need them, woolies, brollies & hwbs likewise & it's beginning to be woody plant cutting time...0 -
dfv -
& wants Albion routed by the ABs, watched at the Alma - too many alliterates bound to confuse:-) Are you ALL restored in the dfv household now?
New Fiji boy for albion looks very interesting - Semesa Rokoduguni vs Julian Savea, Malakai Fekitoa and the sth2prove SBW....should be a ripper.
& hopes it will be Touch and Go.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Wrong answer, but is the thought that counts!
TILAMS, aye was that. But I bedded TILAMS two fears ago, as not reflective of BoP. So I reappeared as the now infamous Blackbeard! CCP. Heels on, chin up. Shoulders. And breathe out. VJS Nice splash back, but can you launch the pans from stove to sink? GW Nice bacon buttie. PK, as above see heels. Dig them inn! Chicken stirs and veg fry. Broom. Mills, them be things of the past. Salt Flkats is what is at. Beds and Hoovers. Worcester, and no sauce. Chicken, always have a decent icebreaker. PK, easy you’ll stew over that pot.Vics. there is always a pleasure, so start chuckling, got it! Haircuts, fires and … Sparra, get them Bar Guns.
5 Listening to the wireless connected thingy, as away from the salt making equipment this day. Unfortunately, looks very gloomy outside, so BoP suggests that you no put out your smalls out on the line. So I has reports to write, reviews to do. So much work with so little pay. And with the ever going through leg bits BoPsie, I hardly have any left over for wobbleades at all. Now, bet you did not know that.
4 Last night we had a keep or delete event at the Club of the Camera, where it was straight Tete e Tete (& will alongs to correct), one is kept, t’toher is rid of. Great images and the winner was stunning. Now how about that!
3 BoPsie, in her quest for forgiveness and obviously more money that is necessary for the keeping of the house, kindly aloud her BoP a sniffer, and a wobbleade to boot. Now that is good for you, and especially good for BoPsie. And that’s not all, the other day she went all the way out and bought her BoP some luxury sandwich filler, of pork, chopped, spiced variety, that has a ring pull on it. Now BoP, loves the stuff, and I know the educationalist among the parish fully appreciate the fritters, but BoP has just rolled his, one of them freshly baked on Sunday passing, and added tomato and butter. Pick of onion. Now, see above about the weather, Raffles has come in, slightly drizzled, and is well wanting some of the same. I am having to hang onto the bun like my life is worth it. And then disaster happens. BoPsie, who was unaccustomed to how hot it really is, has downed her tea across her front. BoP is now careful about the answers he gives!
Wait, there is more!
2 Just doing the rounds, but the telephony with the mine has fallen down. Must be the wind in the wires and the starlings that has caused the commotion. Not only that butt I seems to has missed out on luxury treats and trinkies at the winding house. Me, at the palace of BoP, the thirst storms of Autumn have arrived and I have to report that the green chair, has detached from the table and proceeded across the plaza into the rocks. Now, make sure you pin yours down.
1 Have you noticed what a cat appreciates in you, not your ability to continually feed them, which they take for granted, but your entertainment value!0 -
Good evening all !
BoP- too late my smalls did get wet !! As did the rest of my washing
Sparrer - snoozes are good
DfV- I value time so more much than money. I nearly snuffed it aged 29 and realised very quickly what was important to me. I can't speak for others but I know whats right for me.

Ampersand: Hope you have a better weekend ahead, We have the “hoya’s parent” inside will pop a photo up tomorrow, that we inherited from DH’s grandmother 15 years ago and it must love it here as it flowers and flowers prolifically, of course the flowers are messy but so what, the smell attracts the bumbles and butterflies into the bedroom, we have to thin it every few years as it grows so much.
1. I am very excited, our new all singing posturepedic mattress arrives next week, we have all new bedding and I just can’t wait the “middle dip” is just silly now.:rotfl:
2. I bought myself a work dress and sods law says it’s apparently gone missing via the courier, I’m miffed they are refunding me oh well I was trying to be feminine.:o
3. I’ve never made a Christmas pudding before – ever, so I’m still going to buy one err just to be safe, but I am also going to try and make one – yikes, yes I am one of those weird people who likes Christmas pudding.;)
4. Went over to a friend of dh’s who was giving a car part to repair ours, payment is a bottle of scotch, the problem with this is I know nothing about whisky/scotch, so I was looking into offers and settled on a smaller assumed quality bottle , I’m afraid if it’s rough I know nothing. He very kindly donated the ferrets a whole load of chimney tubing which they are loving at the moment, going in white coming out grey.:p
5. Picked up a take away on the way home, filled up with diesel but I thought the prices were supposed to be going down but ours has gone up a penny!!!!
6. It feels decadent watching our free scout firework display from the window with a tea in the warm.:)0 -
...with another weird-if-so here, pk, for your no. 3.
Love pud of crimbo.
Can't believe you have such a scheherazade-y perfume floating through house so effortlessly - gorgeous.

1. Unloaded car, so much easier with tailgate opening again, then off to Bank - more than I thought. Did the revolving door £500 to N&P. Will put it back physically Monday.
2. A. leaving emporium as & entered - A: 'I do like your hat.' &: 'So do I!' - and I do[Handframed and made in England by Helen Blamires, says label, just a £1 find for me off The Severals a year or 2 back]
3. Fresh-snared rtc pittas shortly to accompany chowder-y affair[post passim]+v.garlicky zapped courgette. Hungry.
4. & asked 30's young man about his gorgeous mostly red/ yellow/ cream/ green/ mustard/orange socks, up past knee. The whole package=absolute style and ease.
Harris tweed here and there, well-worn, loved, - plus 4s, weskit, good shirt, hat, looked fantastic, as right for round a lot of here as certain Spits style statement A-listers.
The socks were pressie from a make-to-order company.

'You choose what tops, what heels, what colours, what lengths, what patterns...and they...well, just...knit them?'
Told him he looked superb. He batted back same for &hat[again] AND &'s new silver 'you' and 'me' earrings[post passim].
Another enjoyable emporium exchange, needed to offset absence of biccies. Ran out this arvo, I was told, which overheard announcement was met by waiting others with opprobrium.
5. & leaving emporium as NTS arrived. 'Goodness! How long since....'etc.etc.
NTS: 'We still haven't had that bottle of red.'
&: 'Has to be Hawkes Bay....'
Big catching up. Number re-taken. NTS interested in doing London bits. & prev. translated for him at Fr property-buying stage. Lost £50k to shyster auctioneer in Fens who pretended Christies connections[well yes...sacked for theft as asst porter last century]and another £15k to mutually known solicitor....which ties in with &'s current point in year.
More than enough said.
Good to meet again though - and the bottle will be consumed.
6. En route back, perfect timing for near village fireworks on cricket ground [ so no bonfire]. Stopped, of course. Lovely hour and perfect little persons' scale for paced and spaced Ooohs and Aaahs and running about and wonder.
& remains this age, no matter what.
7. Will chance the laundry o/n. Oh, that beautiful moon again...what does the bop meter say?
Birthday present to bop - alt+136, lettres deux et sept; alt+133, lettre cinq.
[Had to bite for your anniversaire :-) ]
8. Final training now - so bonne nuit:

1. Another Hoover en route to us from Amazon Vine, Hoover 1 brilliant but too heavy for me, so have high hopes for Hoover 2.
2. Another learner and others have tests in pipeline. Yay!
3. Tried one of my old favourite recipes for the first time in 20 years and it was every bit as nice as I remembered. I wondered why I had stopped making it. Probably because it wasn't appreciated by childminded children and gradually it got forgotten about. A very simple recipe, layers of seasoned bacon, onion, mushrooms and tomatoes in a casserole dish with stock poured over and then a savoury cheese crumble topping on top (cheese pastry mix, essentially). Baked for an hour and a half.
4. One of Jack's new recipes tonight, a chestnut risotto. I made a sizeable variation in using chestnut puree, rather than tinned chestnuts, a tin of which has been in the cupboard for about a year now. It was really tasty. I included some mushrooms, onions and bacon, so not totally dissimilar to recipe 3 in content.
5. My cousin's wife has added me on FB. I am pleased, she is a lovely lady and I'm delighted to have this direct contact.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0
