    Lovely photos, VJsmum.

    Pleasures for yesterday:

    1) Not a bad sleep.

    2) Worcester for a cup of tea with my friend. Her husband (a farrier with a van) is going to take the old bath to the skip for me!

    3) No court letter as threatened by builders. But... no sign of the independent report either from the builder who came round last Wednesday...

    4) Looked round the charity shops.

    5) Tasty sweet and sour chicken for tea.

    6) Did very little all evening except sit in front of the stove!

    7) Holby City.

Another bigger son upset. :-( Got to drive to school in a while and pick him up from his second after school detention. He has done not a stroke of homework since the last detention (literally not picked up a pen nor turned the page of a book). No idea what to do about it. :-(
  • Good afternoon all !

    4. Hound was FINE with the fireworks last night. It must be the thunder and lightning that sets him off.

    5. Most of the usual Friday "housey chores" done this afternoon - dissected the dy*on as it wasn't err ...sucking ,fixed it so then hoovered , put washing on which has part dried on line .

    2. Feeling very virtuous having created a stew at 7am this morning for the slow cooker, that’s about to be had.:p
    3. Some little bits I ordered for DH’s Christmas present arrived and look great.:T
    4. I was cussing Joe Browns for sending me a catalogue and then I started shopping all these things I hadn’t noticed online apparently, I am trying to keep an element of colour in the winter as it’s so easy to dress in black.:o and I'm sitting here wearing exactly that, need an overhaul.
    5. I am liking this weather, it’s nice not to be overheating all of the time.

    Good evening everyone :hello:

Not a great day in school (not my fault!). Thankfully, I have a VERY supportive headteacher who has been lovely and not minded me blubbing on her. :o

Thankfully, I do have some pleasures. I'm clinging onto them for dear life!

    1) NSD! I need it as my car is going to have its brakes sorted at a cost of.... well, far more than 50p.....

    2) Via Twitter, I've been given a recipe for gingerbread men for my bake off group.

    3) Watched the John Lewis advert. Many tissues required.

    4) DH cooked supper tonight. :j

    5) Tomorrow is Friday. This is good!

    Quick update for today:

    1) Had my hair cut at the local college for £3.

    2) Bigger son is now talking to me again (sort of) as he had to phone me at college to say his bus had not arrived and everyone had given up and walked home. Cue a mad dash back from town to pick him up and take him to the town where school is.

    3) Popped to mum and dad's.

    4) Tasty shepherds pie for tea.

    5) Good fire going again.

    6) Bigger son was supposed to have an after school detention but the teacher didn't turn up to let him in so he ran for the bus! He has done some history homework today and maths in time for tomorrow. This is the first homework he has done for over a month.......

    7) Ran up some charges with my bank by going overdrawn then bills being taken. :-( I didn't realise at first what the charges were (not clear online) so I tweeted to ask if they were an error and the bank phoned back to explain. Then the lady said casually "As a goodwill gesture, would you like me to wipe those charges?" Well, yes please!!

A belated happy birthday bop, with apologies for my tardiness :o

    1. After saving my £2 coins for a verrrrry long time I've just bought my second pair of IC shoes. & you have a lot to answer for, I'd never have known about them had it not been for our window shopping spree! ;)
    2. DFV I always have a spare course of anti-b's, I have one of the few groups of illness GP's respect the patient to know how to handle, and trust them to self-medicate. I'm fortunate to be able to phone the surgery and ask for a new course to keep in hand. Thank goodness for the NHS
    3. Chicken the house is a lot tidier than it was yesterday! All the paintbrushes are washed and put away, empty paint pots in the car ready to go to the tip, bedrooms are back to their proper state (but I'm still sleeping in the guest room until I get curtains in my room) even tidied the shelves in th shed while I was putting things away in there. Then I scrubbed some marks off the landing carpet with good old-fashioned Stardrops. I love that stuff.
    4. Got two loads of washing done and almost dried on the line. Finished off on the radiators, all ironed and put away. Then slept for two hours, I did enjoy that bit :D
    5. Bargain evening in Mr M, the 9p lady was on, she marks everything down to 9p just before closing. I bought bananas, runners beans, leeks, a cauliflower, new potatoes, red onions, 2 plaice fillets, a pack of thins, a net of chestnuts (yummy), and 4 pints of milk. Over £16 worth of food for 99p. I grilled some of the chestnuts and ate them while watching George Clarke's Amazing Spaces. They made a nice treat, I'd never have bought them at £3.25p!

    Sweet dreams :)

Evening all...it's almost 7pm and still 34o ...Oooft too warm for me!

Day 5/5 off, back to work tomorrow .

Today I walked up to post office and posted my mums Christmas gift, a blooming fortune to post.
Posted great nieces gift too, not so expensive to post! But they are done and dusted and one less thing to have to do.

Left a pile of magazines in the library swap box. The library will be closed for 6 weeks for refurbishment :(

Applied for DD2 to move schools.we can only wait and see what transpires with this.

Ate a tomato sandwich in the garden for my brunch, with fresh from the bakers bread. Delicious.

Spent most of the afternoon at hairdresser , greys banished once again ! I used a home kit about 5 years ago and chunks of hair came out, so I daren't do it again.

Whilst there I multitasked and read new library book and wrote a long email to a friend,I'm all caught up on my correspondence now.

DD1 had her second last exam...one more to go on Tuesday .

Do have a lovely day :)

    A quick five for yesterday:

    1) Went to put my work trousers on and remembered that one of the hems had come unstitched and I had run out of hemming tape. A needle and thread did the trick to repair them enough to wear, at least temporarily.

    2) A very senior colleague asking me to do something for her, in terms of such extravagant flattery that I couldn't have said no even if I wanted to! :rotfl:

    3) Last of the HM soup with sausage rolls for dinner.

    4) Went to the pub quiz and had a good time, even though we didn't win anything (or come close to winning anything) this week.
Back after a very long break!

Resurrecting slowly after ups at 0200h yesterday, back at 0400h today. Long haul and not great takings[and a tureen lid breakage:mad::mad::mad:] but still will bank tinily this arvo, after unloading at very blessed, super-appreciated, storage. Then emporium beverage gratuity, which shall thereby be prequel 1.

Late departure last night due to repaying in kind young B's help to me last week. His flight to 3-wks in NY is demain soir.
No Bermondsey for either of us[and many others] today - weather against, other committments. It's not a matter of weakness, just stock preservation under open sky. M doesn't know why covered stalls/covered market isn't a starter there.

    #DigForVictory - you're so, so kind to us all# -
    & thirds that one!

    1. I am snug only just, while hearing wind howling outside. Haven't looked yet. Big ice-scrape needed at 3am hier but London felt mild and what a glorious full moon sailed across a star-studded sky!

    2. Offset to not-great day was selling 3 bulky, heavy things: a hefty reversible French jacquard vintage bedcover and a pair of ancient, fold-faded but wonderful long red silk velvet curtains with 1/2 inch pile -amazing textile.

    3. Anticipating long hot shower any moment now, with swank new-to-me bathrobe to follow.

    4. Was good and put all yesterday vestments of servitude into w/m while awaiting hwb kettle boil this morning. Drape, hang, shortly.

    5. More anticipation - AB's to rout Albion the morrow?.......hmm, on verra.
    The Alma will heave.

    6. d.v. for Compline - also a great leveller. C and N's daughter, divorced Mum, 3 teens, now at 'no prognosis' final stage - vicious, sudden return of cancer, spread rampantly, all in a fortnight.
    The same stupid 'angry' question...why??????????????????????????
C and N are in their super-young 70s, a brilliant couple, constant hosts of a safe harbour for many.

mhags - send your surplus celsians chez & anytime.
pk - oh, a hoya! How I love the scent - has yours ever bloomed indoors? Clever you if so.
broomstick - I took, but didn't sell, a big slice of 1834 elm [medullary ring count certified] yesterday. Have had it years, rolled it out and lugged it - heavy. Great tabletop prospect - anyone's at a consideration of substance, bien sûr!:D
bop - must be something in the water[not Raffles' though] More agreement with a bop post.
Leftie though & be, Bland must be gone asap[in similar brotherly love manner?] As for latest get-rid idea: House of Lords. This is the one brake on ill-thought, tabloid-feeding, unsound legislation that both main parties have fallen foul of over the years - rightly, rightly, rightly. RETAIN.
re: Raffles - not uncommon, this. And intelligent, of course:-)!
sparrer - IR latest link please:-) Refuse all blame....
chicken - no joy so far, continuing on several fronts.
mcc - help from young fellas is most pleasing, all the more when spontaneous.
frith - hugs. Just hope one son's school team can find the blue touch paper. You do more than humanly sustainable over and over again. Hope that builder's report and some correctives are happening as we speak. You need a decent, working bathroom - and have paid for one!
&'s removed tap tops and is following this online to fix sudden hard-to-turn handbasin taps:

Happy end of weeks and works to all.
