Good evening all !
A few quick ones ..
1. Training course was a bit laborious and I got home over an hour and a half later than usual...
2. To find my DMum in my lounge with my hound who had peed in her bathroom , scratched up my carpets in terror due to thunder and lightening AND Fire works .. Lucky she was about really.
3 Quivering pet is next to me as I type . Poor sod
4.Orange tea - fish in batter and hash browns as quick and easy
5. As the training venue did not provide anything other than tea and coffee we ALL bought in piles of biscuits, cakes, cheese and crackers, sweets and chocolates which was funny as no one had said that they were going to !!Felt very a "Teamy" thing to do which was nice plus we have loads leftover for the office tomorrow
eta Reverbed 5p!!
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Evening all - a quickie while I wait for OH to come in.:D
Glad you had a great time in gay paree. Frith.
Pleasures for last two days
1. didn't set alarm yesterday so got a bit of a lie in after the hectic weekend. Decided to drive in rather than go on train so had more time - was knack arred after hectic weekend so didn't feel too guilty
2. teaching went well - my favourite, easiest lecture, off the cuff :T
3. Trip to sainsbugs to stock up on all the things i can't get at Aldio - Rocks organic squash for DS, ecover w. up liquid, light bulbs - spent a small fortune altogether but don't need to go for a while.
4 managed to tidy up before OH got home - ridiculous, it is my house too but I felt like a teenager whose parents had gone away. i knew he wouldn't be cross, just very disappointed :rotfl:
5. OH and DS came home - beating the french train signallers strike by the skin of their teeth (entered chunnel just as it started :eek:)
And today
1. day off - though did have some work to do
2. picked up leaves in the garden, while the sun shone - chilly but nice out. That's my exercise for the day done
3 Cook fest - butternut squash, carrot and coriander soup
Chilli
Tonights tea - vegetable, Mango and coconut curry
4. clean sheets tonight.
5. goats cheese and avocado salad for lunch followed by stewed rhubarb and yogurt. I so love my new way of eating that i literally can't find time / room to eat everything i would like to
And here are the poppies
(well the photos will be here anon - photobucket is taking it's time uploading)
Edit - ah round things to it, photo bucket being a mare. Will try laterI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
mhags I was sad to hear about the two horses that lost their lives in the Melbourne Cup. It's awful for them, their owners and jockeys. Sorry also that you didn't enjoy your scone, it sounded so good, too
chicken poor muttley. I detest fireworks and wish they'd ban the whole pointless event
skint and frith sorry about the rain, I won't gloat but we did have lovely yellow stuff here all day. I'll send it your way
I. Took muttley to the vet this morning which wasn't a pleasure, but between us we agreed a programme of meds and diet to clear his eczema, in fact for life, hoping to stop it happening again. Luckily they don't rip off the client so it's not going to cost a fortune - well, just a small one!
2. The decorator finished upstairs, he's corrected all previous mistakes and repainted everything including ceilings, doors and door frames. It looks super, I'm much happier and relieved to have it done properly. We also discussed the bathroom which will be done after the C-word
3. Spoke to DGD1, arranged for her and her OH to come to lunch on Saturday. Went through the cupboards and freezer, there's plenty of choice so I won't have to shop specially.
4. Collected the last of the cobnuts, managed to get almost a kilo by bashing the tree with the rake, and scrabbling around in the fallen leaves. They're lovely crushed and added to the bread dough with a mixture of other nuts and seeds
5. The garden is still a mass of colour from the spring/summer bedding, and now the winter flowering pansies and cyclamen are adding to it. It's quite a pleasure to stand at the sink and look out of the window
Sweet dreams0 -
Agreed sparrer, so -
1. Looking out of kitchen window and beyond across farmland makes &squat copable. The jays have arrived now - and another neighbour bunny boy for the last 3 days. Seen yesterday courting A Lady, which is his happy work in Life. He hopped home for that:-)
2. Turned heating on[rads bled] and water temp. up.
3. In and Out of the Kitchen, on now[I love Miles Jupp/ Damian Trench]
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b01qdsms
but Hurrchhrss bits make me wonder if adamanianancharlie betokens ghastliness of new storyline editor's desire to Make His Mark....gay rupture anyone?
4. It's official, all of &'s putah/abacus/foghorn/2-tin-cans-and-string confirmed here, heard on R5 Money Prog earlier.:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-29897202
and here, going back to 2010 I see:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/search?q=notspots
5. Tailgate finally fixed - 2 fenboy trips, 2 scrapyard runs[lovely man, mutually long ago known boat mechanic we had in another Life], not quite £70+ 180 unplanned petrol miles. Have had to pass place of x's end four times therefore. Dark, no matter how many years go by...and then spent >an hour yesterday with Pastor of one of &'s recent birds with broken wings. Need to find this person: we are very concerned. Went down river, spent another couple of hours checking out banks, scrub, rough sleeper/ tenting areas...no joy, but found signs.
#21st century Britain#[how's your 'kindly eye' chap, sparrer?]
& has much to take and to leave and many names at Compline tonight.
6. Birthday cake and bits done and delivered last night, then pics taken, to wonderful neighbour, 18 years nursing her stroke-felled former Police Inspector husband at home. She finally asked for more help when she could no longer deal with her own pain. An extreme form of fibromyalgia makes it necessary - prognosis: 2 years on steroids, already helping, but she must have respite days, prescribed. Not before time.
US news, though expected, does not help my mood.
Nor another sudden funeral last Monday.
bop - that's a wonderful supervisory 'hard stare' from Raffles and I know you made reference to another Mr Bond in filmic. End of November release did I hear on Front Row? As with Peter Pan, the written word of both Bond and Barrie carries so much more than a cinematic treatment can usually convey.
Happy days and snugness to all and Spits[ again already] to me.
yesterday's yellow thing was a real bonus.
#
Big Welcomes, Vintage Lady - and '5. my first post on this forum!' is a very fine start indeed!

Not sure if I can get five but here goes:
1. Sorta linked to Ampersand's, the wondrous Babs who is the best singing voice at our music club (Dr C. says so, so it must be right) is running a charity night to raise funds for the project she works for. This is a Salvation Army project working with human trafficking. I have a shedload of stuff that manufacturers have sent me to review for Am@zon that will go in their raffle. Good stuff, brand new - a 3/4 man tent, an automatic umbrella, a leather purse, a Bluetooth speaker...
2. Last night's live music club was a cracker.
3. I'm going to see the musical narration 'She's Fired' on Saturday. Here's the review from the Morning Star, no less.John Wrightson, who wrote the songs, is a music club stalwart. Some of you will remember Pops (Popperwell) who was a forum stalwart until hounded off, we are sharing transport costs for that one as Dr C is working late.
4. Going to resurrect some old recipes from my 500 Recipes For Cooking For Two book that was a mini- Bible when I was first married.
5. Your pleasures. Glad car fixed, Ampersand. X fingers for permanency. Frith, whew and argh in equal measures... others, thanks. One day I will get a mention in for everyone.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
53 Cake. No candles. Another yea scraped through and obe more than Mum!0

Forgive me. It's been a doozy of a week, weekend & week-so-far.
Chickenopolis! You're back! <happydance> A 6'4" JRT??! (I know Jack Russell Terriers have big personalities, but 6'4"?! Or have I missed a catch?) Had to peer hard to differentiate between dealer & jodh boots, but the seam eventually clued me. My last pair of jodh boots were "repurposed" as the soles had no grip. Something to check as it gets less nice out? Delighted office shredder keeping the girls warm & cosy! Line drying? [Time *has* passed. Sorry!] "this time of year is for nesting and comfort food" - hear, hear! Just giggling at the idea of DM having a sleepover after I!Divo gig! Drat hip. Eyes crossing at possibilities of a Fanuary! Dog pillow sounds wondrous. Hound doing his job then fillet steak. Cor. Upholding standards in digitally-public life on book of face - well done! Boo hiss mandatory training but hurrah coatrack & the odd coat! Hurrah universal response to training has been delicious nibbles - splendid teamly work if inadvertent
BoP - the food... The Salt Mine. The WC quotes. Gun Dog brew some corkers. Steaming is fun. Cobblers. Oh, that cake... Yes, please, to a slice! Fish trains conjuring multiple images. Awaiting film review - atta girl BoPsie finding such a gift! *Love* that vibrant yeast. Must remember to omit custard powder from the parsley sauce next time. May today be one of celebration, if not slabs of cake. (Offers virtual tray laden with cakes imagined by the cake club on morphine sulphate.)
Purplekitten - kindles are wonderful. (Other ereaders are good too. Says she trying to prise son's fingers from her kindle.) Leftover paper with Aldi coupon - well spotted! DH remembers engagement date? Aww! RTC packaging misleading - glad rtc. Cloned card hair-raising, but very glad bank has your back! Pond plant pleasant surprise - hope you find more &/or the name! Costco & "all of it err justifiable" - right with you! IKEA on a Saturday? Braver woman than I! (I like daylight.) Well done finding the right dentist for DH - now to coax him to attend... (Polos, gin, a day at the races? how best to bribe the nervous patient?)
VickyA - Cath Kidston should come After Holiday. Budgeting easier that way. Well done having Sainburys deliver & tweeting approval when all got right. Hone an edge on your French here? http://www.lemonde.fr/ or some of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:French-language_newspapers
Ampersand - big drain & ongoing. Still, faut etre plucky. And maybe invest in more jewellery. Expectant couple sound effulgent, & a good game of Mah Jongg is worth a few extra miles. Mr_Toad's tribulations hilarious! “moonlit pegged laundry" - it is possible I am missing out on an OS pleasure. In there alongside you for the almond icing! Bon chance with Bonhams. Botherations with Boot & hurrah there was a choux bun awaiting you. Does your vivid appreciation of the enormous good in unexpected people come from that anniversary [apologies - impertinent, but awed at your vehement championing of life. Mes hommages.] Well done treating senses at Lush & seizing opportunities at tiny Pandora. To learn by heart - oh yes. Along with the teaching aids de these jours like hurtling chalk. IR shoes - will revisit website when not at work. (But Cor!) Delighted tailgate fixed, albeit dark miles. May Compline bring its own candlelight to bear.
mcculloch - Dr.C has Discovered Housework?! <applause> I do wish I'd heard you at that driver. It's always good to observe experts at work. Love the photos! "online chatroom quiz" sounds great & dowser-via-maps is a riveting idea. "unearthed a missing spare light" - hurrah! Best wishes for shopping trip with buddy. Absolutely agree Christmas season opens 1/12 & not before. [But have to play nicely with other who have Other Views.] Will look out that Wendy Cope as Also a huge fan of Nigel. £300 for trike sounds a nasty fiscal shock, but worth it for freedom. Rousing cheers that delightful underpinnings right size & price found their way to you! Payday!
mhagster - donating tips as well as all your effort from Big Blue Bashes - there's a serious kindness! "now if only she would tidy up her bedroom". Um. Hope on? Parsnips for Christmas stashed already! Hoping Uni finishes quickly! Swine thief. Hoping back unknots but think you are spot on blaming foot for starting it. DD2 recovering from upset? Not thanks to bullying rotter. Doctor indicated? Hurrah leave - deserved! Argh massage, maddening girl, DD2 helped, DD1 into exams - cuddle pup & breathe! You had scary fridge veg? Car dancing great fun. Halloween fancy dress then jump into pool? Gosh. Planters & pup & bread & rocket & the raw delight of a good photo - sometimes those are the most special gifts. Help for DD2 already! Back anything in the Melbourne Cup?!
DundeeDoll - only remarkable in that I edit everyone else's generosity. All best with couch to 5K! Dundee book festival sounds smashing! You can now make sushi? Kudos! Agatha R has some *very* good lines. Vital paper hiding in bag, eh? Survived 1st week of couch to 5K without injury - excellent! A Windows install without system crashes? Congratulations! *Why* do our children criticise our driving?
VJSmum - well done vs. elephant. Blimey, to think some people *will* pay £350 for a tap. DS, train, restorative brew, "neck it!" - my family also! House decision on real butter sounds blissful. It wouldn't be right to eschew First Class crisps, would it? Daughter in fine fettle & poppies both by day & night - excellent viewing! Am bemused at why tidy, but as plan "it worked for us" on my tombstone, really shouldn't be surprised if others do things their way *too*!
Frith - well done on getting a third party between you & builders (saves on homicide charges) & also between you & elder son's homework issues (see above but "filicide"). Indeed, listening to cavalcade arriving on your behalf with glee. Hereford Cathedral is pretty good even in the rain - must be sensational for Harvest! Hoping you find family tree climbing fun? [I'm somewhat addicted.] Digging over allotment beds *and* chutney making? <Awe> Definitely holiday before approach builders. Why village shop so scrupulous about euros?! Brother & Guy! Hurrah, Paris! & really big jars of Nutella. Eiffel tower geocache, massage chair & letting off fireworks & surviving - welcome home! And the post-holiday crunch emerges at the climbing wall. Blast. Most impressed at window film!
Kittikins - prescription exemption card truly useful, but three pairs of glasses look after two precious eyes. Crabtree & Evelyn to look forward to, or be surprised by. Win! Would rude but funny be cards against humanity? 3 jigsaws! To be converted into fete sellers? Sounds a bit radical... Son has signed up for Book People emails - must introduce him to topcashback First! Freddos now pop? Investigation indicated! Brilliant timing, reviewing books to fall back in love with the children before starting teaching again!
MandM - welcome! And hurrah for the wheelbarrow.
sparrer - OhWhatARelief re:doors. Match & more fun? DGD3 very sensible - much more fun to tour the CSs with you as guide! Chandelier sounds stunning! 70% off the too-expensive present?! <awe!> How do you have a spare course of anti-bs? Hope CI crumples & goes away. Enjoy carpet shampooer? Some fibre enthusiasts can & do spin doghair. Glad your trick or treaters brought manners with them! Longing to hear of first night in "new" bedroom but well done absolutely visitor-proofing guest room. Love the thought going into care of decorator! Just thinking about your garden makes me smile - thank you!
marmite - Fochabers gingerbread <drools, gently>
mrsdwhite - "good glug of balsamic vinegar" is my kind of cooking measurement! Did you enjoy the Black Country living museum? [My chaps adore the trad chips.] You're a Staffs Oatcakes fan too? "The last evening off" - it's another countdown to Christmas.
villagelife - well done with the drain! Foraged chestnuts & Waitrose coffee - hope they help fight off the erg from ongoing issues? Building a wall is very soothing - apparently Churchill an enthusiast. "bless his little bolts" - snorting with laughter here. You got to see the poppies too? Before 9 am takes dedication but a canny move.
CCP - you know we're always glad to see you, no matter how life is going. Poor Isis upset by big scary helicopter! Did you see the research that said re-heated pasta is better for you than freshly cooked? New desk & cordial colleagues? Sorry you've come to really hating job. Calendar til escape? "Are you sure?" - he's not safe out with a load of groceries! Love the "because it's raining" stew substitutions & bet it tased as good. Damson jam - that's the stuff to start the day with!
greywitch - 'putah troubles understood. Welly socks & huge hg pumpkin sound brilliant! Sorry to hear of insufficient healing, but back MSE & its OS threads to suggest routes forward! Homemade pickles for Christmas sound utterly delicious. Christmas cleaning already? or strategic stages so come end of December you don't have to do the Whole House?
Muser - welcome back! Local play scheme, & beans on toast sound superb!
supersaver - good to know you're around if not always able to post the OS pleasures.
Tealady - welcome back (from fellow straggler) & wot larks around IOW! Hope funeral passes gently. With you on preferring to work in library than at home. Choir sounds incredible (although risotto & champagne also grand!) So glad you had a lovely time with poppies! Botherations library not having a quiet word with headphone user.
Bobarella - welcome! Library & line drying & loved ones on leave - splendid pleasures!
Skint yet Again - very glad to hear new boss settling well. A relatively relaxed workplace is happier than other sorts. What do you reckon to Bear's autobiog? (Lads' hero as Chief Scout.) Yippee direct debit dropped & long weekend beckoning! Walk via bottle bank - http://sproutingbroccoli.wordpress.com/2007/10/05/a-green-song/ & awed at Amazon scheming! Shopping & kept to budget <awe>
Broomstick - life may have run away with you, but those pleasures make it sound worth the trip.
VintageLady - welcome! Here is indeed a good place to escape wedding stuff other than the really good bits.
OS Pleasures in the last week & a chunk?
The silence as the whole family devours homemade corned beef hash!
My reputation as some kind of techie guru is made so much more lustrous by not mentioning this is the same fix for the fourth person in an hour. Worryingly, the first victim was as awed as the fourth. I used the devious power of literacy...
Podding Carlin peas for next year. I spent quite a bit on seeds this year & want to get my money's worth! [looking very good so far!]
Slicing ys mangoes into the dehydrator. Yum! Plans to try fruit leathers on hold as I test carrot crisps.
Cheering pharmacist on through till reboot - been on both sides of That phone call. [Till still flat.]
The muppets mner-mner song! Splendid way to cheer me through daft Friday traffic.
Looking at father & son asleep - my poor hassled young teen looking warmly serene and secure in that gently snoring hug.
Whoops of glee that half term has started, as has something called Legend, with Sean Bean who is by way of being a household hero.
The raw satisfaction (& oddly, the competitive thrill) as brothers roll pennies into the charity box.... Boychicks.
Watching the oiled wood surface if the kitchen table get sanded into beautiful clean pale wood again before re-oiling it. All sorts of stains & splodges gone & beauty remaining. Yeay for power tools!
There is a certain satisfaction to bleeding radiators. It gives you that lovely illusion you are in control...
Boys whooping over 'Legend' - watching Sean Bean interrogate with a steam iron means the ironing just got seriously fashionable. At the *start* of half term, drattit.
Accosted to share grief over a building site - bloke as he can't get in to scrump an old enamelled street sign, me at the loss of the buddleia that delighted butterflies.
Son, on being summoned to lend moral support, said "I'll get me slippers". I do wonder if he quite understands what moral support is, or whether it's another family joke I've missed out on.
Listening to son completing survey - he made a hair-raising standup routine of it. I think the company will get their money's worth - he certainly had me laughing!
In a jam, someone's car radio is gently pootling a melodic soothing piano - lovely relaxing unfussed stuff!
Musing on courtesy & commas - I give way for food. Eyeing BoP's artistry, I wonder if he'd consider other pets?!
Being thanked for my care by a visiting speaker - the briefing included not just who where & when but 1 weblink to the building, 1 on available public transport & 3 on nearby suppliers of food & drink. (Priorities, eh?)
Seen inscribed on a University building "it's later than you think" (with "but it's never too late" round the corner!)
Lit a candle in the chapel where I married. Ah, happy memories.
Wrapped & stashed presents with parents for extended family. (On 1 Nov! I'm mad...) [and very tired, but for that lot, 'Tis Done]
"Looked like an alien autopsy" - description of son lying very still & obedient for measuring...
Whole new family game developed spotting the trendy male (at least 2 of goatee, artfully draped scarf & man bag). Gosh, my chaps know some pejorative terms.
I was described as 'plucky'. Decided to go look it up & ended up grinning wryly rather than snarling at journalese.
Big hugs to all who need them, antibiotics, radiator keys, and technical support likewise and remember frosted ground is said to be easier to dig.0 -

BoP - HAPPY BIRFDAY !!!:D
DFV - your posts are EPIC. Bear book ... not the best writer but tells it like it is, and the bloke is an inspiration. Had a chuckle at the green songNot sure about Legend - am usually a Sean Bean fan but seems a bit forced/false to me at times with his accent (and more than a bit gruesome!!)
Sparrer - glad to hear the decorating is now finished to a good standard
Frith - whats happening with your bathroom ?
Couple of pleasures for today
1. good sleep didn't wake up until 5.30am
2. good day at work - refused to do any more data imputing due to disability and was given other stuff to do. More intensive but less typing.

4. checked the calendar and realised I have a day booked off next week :j
5. chicken stew for tea with Jacket spuds, very warming as its got very chilly here.
Hope everyone has a safe bonfire night. Thinking of all your poor pets cowering at the noisehope they are all safely indoors. There have been whooshes and bangs here since it got dark at 5pm so its gonna be a long night !
