Happy Birthday BoP! DfV, you amaze me too...!
BoP, have you been BoP for two years already? It barely seems six months since your previous 'Sonny' aka TILAMS, incarnation left us!
Listening to volleys of bangs and hoping that all the local pets are Ok.
Couple of extras.
1. A lovely little 'coincidence' shared by a thread member, thanks again.
2. A cycle down to the postal sorting office, trike running like a dream; managing to shelter from a sudden downpour in a handy bus shelter that I just drew level with as the heavens opened.
3. When I realised my front bike light was fading, finding four half price reflective armbands with flashing lights in Aldi, to make others aware of me.
4. Seeing empty boxes where the 69p mushrooms should have been in Aldi - and then, unnoticed by others, one punnet of mushrooms tucked out of sight.
5. A really lovely book on the Camino, the Spanish pilgrim's way, to read and review, free from Amazon .
6. The kind young man who saw me struggling to get my trolley back into the serried ranks of its workmates at Aldi, instantly offered to help and did it for me.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Pleasures for yesterday:
1) Dreading going to work as I knew I had hardly any work to do, but managed to string out what I did have until mid afternoon.
2) Decided it was soup weather so knocked up a batch of tomato, lentil and chorizo from store cupboard ingredients.
3) Isis being totally unconcerned by the fireworks going off nearby. My last cat, Moggett, was never fazed by them, either.
And for today:
1) Finally remembered to put on the poppy badge I bought several days ago and kept forgetting in the morning.
2) No work, having done it all yesterday, so I spent most of the day working on version 2 of my ghost story, my first attempt having been abandoned as unworkable. This one isn't bad if I do say so myself!
3) LO soup for lunch.
4) Hot dogs for dinner, as I do every year on 5th November.
5) Isis still unconcerned by the fireworks, even though they're very close tonight (and very pretty, too - I do love fireworks!).Back after a very long break!0 -

If anyone needs anyone shouted at I’m available, I think I am a reasonably quiet overly polite person, but yesterday’s commute has pushed me over the edge, I have been pushed, shoved, hit in the face with a bag, for which they apologised and then a chap literally elbowed me to which I commented to him when did the world become so downright arrogantly rude. If it wasn’t for the fact I like our house, I would be seriously thinking about upping sticks to a cave somewhere right now, but I need more equity which means put up and shut up.:o
Tuesday
1. Quite frankly miraculously when I got in from the above journey I didn’t make a beeline for the rtc doughnuts on the side or cave to the 241 Tuesday pizza deal no, I had a clementine. Bloody miracle.
2. I remembered to go to the green house and get the baby hoya out as it’s chances of surviving inside are vaguely more than the unheated broken glass window of the greenhouse.:p
3. My food choices went out the window when the volunteers meeting was held in a caf! tonight I ordered chips, drowned them and my sorrows in vinegar. The caf! owners know people by sight now so when I asked for 2 chips one with cheese one without that’s what I got, 1 chip with cheese and one chip without, together with a shot glass of drink,:rotfl: I must have had written all over me I needed cheering up, did have a good laugh thou.
4. When I walked through the door just in from work somehow the animals pick up on you needing them and one bounced over up and just sat in my arms.:o:o
5. Just in now, at 10.55 comfy clothes, a risotto thing to eat if I stay awake that long
Wedsnesday
1. I worked from home and was able to study a little, but ironically work was busy.
2. DH braved his new nervous friendly dentist all be it private dentist and was ok when he got back in.:T
3. Popped to lidl for only the veg on offer for stew thurs night.
4. Ordered a fluffy black jumper with £10 off
5. Went to a hospital apt which seemed pointless but nice its over with0 -
I am in mourning - my glorious Benedict is lost to me(What do you mean, I am a married woman already? :rotfl:)
I was also told that I'm a married woman already, whilst lamenting the "loss" of Benedict. Details, shmetails....:rotfl:
DigForVictory - you're so, so kind to us all. And thanks for the idea about those French websites. Fab idea. x
My pleasures for today:
1) Chicken stir fry for supper. LOADS of veg in it. I've definitely had 5 of my 5 a day!
2) Arrived home to find that our new window cleaner has been. Sparkly windows! Now need to give him the money.... At least he knows where we live.
3) Signed up for the swimming teaching training for school. :j
4) Plenty of sorting out of paperwork, just not enough...
5) Missing leather glove.... FOUND! Worn my thick winter "duvet" coat for the first time and ta-da odd glove found!
Night all xxxSealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -
Evening all
Happy birthday BoP!
Stunning poppy pictures VJsmum
I'm obviously only meant to post weekly at the moment.
Still, here are five pleasures for today:
1. Went to our local sawmill and got them to cut me a big slice of tree trunk to use as a chopping block. I hadn't been there before and it was busy and like a mud bath in the yards and smelled absolutely fantastic: sawn wood and sawdust.
2. Woodburner is doing its thing very nicely. I think this is an essential for me from now on. I'm not going to live anywhere without a real fire of some sort ever again.
3. Went and got the last bits and pieces for my dad's birthday tomorrow - we are seeing my parents mid-morning. That explains the very jolly helium balloon floating beside my desk right now.
4. PMed someone on a completely different forum who had posted something very positive about one of our young sportspeople and stopped some silliness in its tracks. I introduced myself and thanked them in the PM only to get a reply back saying that he's a parent that I know very well and see regularly. I didn't realise it was him. Made me laugh.
5. DS2 has just got home safely after cycling home having had what sounds like a good evening with his singing group.
Sweet dreams

Hello from my sunny back porch , a very warm Melbourne afternoon.
pirate Pete I hope you had a good birthday and were spoiled by your lovely wife.
So , my first thought this morning , was did I post my 5 pleasures last night? I remember typing them but obviously fell asleep before I pushed the reply button....they were still there on my iPad this morning when I looked but my 'time token' had expired and I lost them.
Day 4/5 days off. This has been a very lazy day
Me and the doglet have snoozed on the back porch sofa for a good couple of hours this afternoon ....oops...I was full of good intention.
Phoned a friend yesterday and phoned another one today, it's a much better time difference at this time of year for calling home.....with the added bonus of not having to rush out to work.
Parboiled RTC parsnips and now in freezer for my Christmas dinner.
Took a pile of stuff yesterday to Salvos and then I went through my wardrobe last night so another bin liner went over today. I think that's about 4 bin bags of stuff this week.
Bought some lovely bread at bakers and a cream lamington cake.....think I over did the carbs and that's why I was so sleepy.
Read a magazine or 2 from my stash....will return them to library swap box later.
Going to make a veg curry for dinner tonight and use up the veg that's lingering sadly in the fridge.....always bought with good intent!
Pup has been good company today, yesterday I was ready to turn him into a pie as he was such a blooming rascal! But he's been a good boy today ....so far!
DD1 and I watched some UK telly together this morning whilst I ironed.
Only 1 text from work....that's much less than I anticipated!
Right, I'm off to remake my bed and Hoover my room , clean bathrooms and then make dinner.....exhausted at the thought!
Have a lovely Thursday0 -

Ain't over til it's over
Sorry Mr Bland, but you turned what is a celebration of my birthday into a public farce. Oh, and the multi-millionaireess frock maker was there as well. Blow me!
5 Downhill from here on. Well, is the only plaice to go. See our local hot air gassing group, the council, is thinking about having a food waste collection service. Mmm, BoP does not waste food, so I will not be paying. To stop food waste, we have to stop food greed.
4 Had mega mixed Grill last eve for me birthday, washed away with a wobbleade and BoPsie. Very thoughtful of her to allow BoP out into the light once in a while. On the subject, now BoP, who remains this week undefeated at Scrabble, trounced BoPsie t’other night, but how strange that BoP kicked off, yet suddenly BoPsie was one score, and nearly level with BoP, in front. I think she must had double played. Still, is only a game.
3 Now, Raffles. Got to sitting in the bath. Not just sitting but over the plug hole. Funny that. Yet I do not know. BoPsie caught him this morning, jumped into bath. Pawed, then wiggled over plug hole. No surely not. Yes, Raffles was using the bath to have a … There is no thing this cat will not do.
2 At the salt flats, the bean counting deportment invaded the area of the kettle and milk this day. Now, I have note against counting beans, but the commotion they cause is inexcusable. No worries though, I just add the wait for the water, thin and bread onto the budget, not the project.
