  • Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and supportive posts.

Ollie Pleased your cold hasn't developed. Enjoy your fresh air.

My 1st OS pleasure today is most definitley coming on here and feeling included and cared about.

As to the rest I will wait and see what the day offers but it got off to a good start with an hour spent outside tidying up and cutting back in the garden. I love the feeing of creating order ready for the Winter.

Whilst out it was good to see the impressive log file my wonderful OH chopped over the weekend. Should keep us cosy for a month or two.

Off now to do my menu plan and shopping list for next week.

    Bye all :A
Thank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend

Muppet hugs and best of luck for the biopsy. Hope you're doing OK.

i haven't quite cuaght up on all the posts so here's a quick round up from me

1 - OH fitted a draught excluder to the front door and it makes a huge difference :)
2 - I've been finding it hard to make friends in the new city as my office isn't very social :( but a kind soul from another department has asked me out on a girls night with her friends. Feel like a five year old starting school but very grateful :)
3 - I walked to and from work yesterday 7 miles round trip - today I'm feeling quite pleased with myself
4 - homemade soup for lunch
5 - lots of nice things to look forward to this month!

    Hi all

Ollie, I shall DEFF. take pics of the blinds once finished, at the moment I am struggling to figure out how to rig it up (I think I need to sew another ribbon at the top!).

Here are my five for today:

1 - Long cuddle with DD in her bed, just like when she was little, and loads of chatting and laughter. She really is a delight and a true friend in addition to being a wonderful daughter. I am blessed and humbled by her loveliness.

2 - Did an outing to the PO Box for work and had time to pop into M&S to get some flour, milk and 2 for 1 clementines (the first of the season for me).

3 - DD put the washing on and the weather is dry and mild enough to hang in the garden (will do at end of this post!). Then, finished on banisters and doors when the evening comes. Still gets a good shot of fresh air.

4 - Last night soup, which I did not eat last night as I was out, for lunch, yummy - it was the mix of lentils and barley that I had cooked on the woodstove, mixed with veg and a bit of stock powder.

5 - Only 2 hours of work to do today, as my PO Box trip counts for 1 hour. Will start once I have put the washing on the line. Off I go now.

Have a great afternoon and evening everybody xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Hi everyone & big hugs for Sunflower & Muppet grouphug3.gif

Ollie Hope the fresh air has blown away your cobwebs as they say. I'm full of a cold but only really feeling too bad 1st thing and last thing at night thankfully

Busy day today but lots of little pleasures.

    1. Did my food shopping for just under £53 so very very pleased :T :j We are cutting down on spending to help cover the cost of Christmas and also to make the Christmas food all the more special we're eating much simpler meals.

    2. Changed our bed & the smell of fabric softener and fresh air on the fresh bedding as I lifted it out of the airing cupboard was lovely.

    3. Laughing at the image of Ollie kicking a cushion around the house with a picture of her ex pinned to it th_footstompingsmilie.gif :rotfl:

    4. Our young dog, Susie the Labrador 15 months old, stole a potato from the fridge whilst I was unpacking the shopping & spent 40 mins running round the garden chasing it. She's eaten it now :p

    5. DD had an extended 3 hour lunch from college today so she came home & we were able to have a chat, catch up and share lunch. I'm another one who counts myself so lucky to have such an amazing daughter. I sometimes can't believe she's mine.

Hope that everyone is having a good day & that all we poorlies get better soon xxx

Louba Lentil pate came from the 50p a day thread by weezel:money:

150g red lentils *1. Cook for 20mins. until nice and soft.
    3/4 pint veg stock

    2 med. onion
3 cloves of garlic * 2. Fry until lovely and yummy
    3teaspoons mixed herbs brown
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    2 slices bread crumbed

1 teaspoon salt * 3. Add and mix remaining ingredients.
    1 teaspoon black pepper
    2 teaspoons white wine vinegar

I put in very small tubs. It freezes very well. I put a little mayo in son's sandwich along with the pate. He has to have mayo on everything.
Really cheap sandwich filling. Hope you enjoy it.

Ollie I made it with red lentils, tried to find the recipe again on the recipe page and failed. You being an old hand may have better luck than me.:A
    Has reverbe not came back?

Liking the sound of this. What could i use instead of WW vinegar? Don't want to buy some just for this. And what does "herbs brown" mean?

Just catching up, im pages away! argh!

Zippychick When I made this (it's seriously yummy spread onto crackers or toast ;)) I didn't use any vinegar as its not a flovour I like.

With the herbs brown bit I think that Weezl means put the onions & garlic in a pan then fry till golden brown, then add the herbs and cook for a little bit longer. Not too long as the taste of burnt herbs would not be nice  Hope this helps.

If you get the time have a trawl through the Weezl's next challenge 50p a day till christmas - healithily thread as its great with many inspiring recipes on. Apologies if you've already done so!

Thanks Sunnygirl, makes perfect sense. I was being dumb! I will look through actually , haven't previously. Thanks for that.:D

Muppet - sending you big hugs. Keep reading here and saying hello and stay in touch :A

Ollie - Skittles vodka is just that - throw a bag in a bottle and they dissolve after a few days! Then strain the bits out. Lovely stuff!
    :eek::j
Trying to think if I have any pleasures.....

    * HM potato bread for brekkie
    * Lentil pate recipe I am keen to try
    * Ordering a BERO cook book!
    * Checking my "lost pennies" box I started in Sep, and it now has almost £4 in it!
    * Offering to bake something for charity thing in work next week

That's all for now! Hugs to all

Good evening all  - getting a bit chilly here now - but not cold enough to 'fast forward' the heating just yet :). Thank you all for your good wishes - looks like you've all chased away whatever was lurking around me :T!

Muppet81 - well done on your energetic morning and to your OH for the logpile :).
Louba - Wow - 7mile round trip on foot to/from work - wtg you! Hope you enjoy your girl's night out smiley-dance010.gif:dance: smiley-eatdrink055.gif .
Caterina - Good luck with your blind fitting - I googled about fitting them, but I assume you've already done that yourself. Well done on your 'mother and daughter' time together - need something like that with mine, but the kids are always around as well as distractions - lovely distractions nonetheless.
SunnyGirl - lol at Susie the spud thief :rotfl: - typical labrador will steal any food that isn't nailed down. Ours (Amber) once got 2 doz freshly-baked mince pies that mum had left cooling down on Christmas Eve! Her kennel-mate (Dusty - German Shepherd) got a full leg of lamb and refused to share with her . That cushion was about to be kicked down a flight of stairs, only my kids arrival at the front door saved him ;)!
zippychick - what about cider vinegar (if you have any) as a possible substitute for white wine vinegar? I think my sister may like some skittle vodka for a christmas pressie - will definitely have a go ;). Well done on the 'lost pennies' and good luck with the charity baking :).
SunnyGirl - thanks for the explanation - must go over to Weezl's thread for some ideas.

    Mine for today:

    1. Kicked my own asre into gear this morning. Straight from shower to work e-mail checking AND answering.
    2. Early start on my 'morning checks' - all present and accounted for .
    3. Received a warning e-mail about bogus Occupational Therapy Assessments and people being charged money for items they were told they needed and then never receive . OMG some people are just so unscrupulous in who they target! Warning note written, printed and delivered around all my tenants. Also had to warn them about 'Bogus BT Bill Payment Demands' and conmen aerial engineers taking advantage of digi-tv confusion. Poor things will be too scared to answer their phones or open their front doors after reading that note!
    4. Visit from a new window cleaner for our Scheme. The last one was 'rather peculiar' to say the least. Fingers crossed that this guy is more reliable - £3 for a bungalow or flat and £3.50 for a 3-bed house. I'm sure he can't be 'legit' for that price, but nobody is willing to pay the price that a 'legit' window cleaner would charge ! Anyway my windows are sparkling clean for the first time in months - unfortunately I can now tell that the insides are mucky :o.
    5. Visited my 'other scheme' to deliver notes - it's a mile away with 28 properties (this scheme has 41 properties) but I don't have an office there. I try to visit at least three times a week to deal with any problems that need the 'personal touch' instead of just a phone call.
    6. Roast chicken thighs, oven chips and veg for evening meal and very nice it was too. Not often we've had our meal at this time of the day lol.
    7. One of my tenants has put his Christmas deccies up already - he's always the first!!!!! Just hope he doesn't fuse his electrics .
    8. Heading off to DD's in a few minutes - she's still having problems.

Hope everybody has a quiet evening and I'll pop in again later to read any late posts :) - bye for now - love Ollie xxx

Ollie A great big HShuggies.gif for you & your daughter. She sounds a very determined young woman and she will get better with the panics. I read a brilliant book when I was suffering with mine (11 years ago just before I became pregnant with DS3). I'll find the author and let you know. It may help her too xxx
  • A lovely friend coming to see me tonight and telling me I look good. This is a blatent lie but it's still good to hear ;)

Off to the pictures tonight to see the Michael Jackson 'thing'. We were supposed to be going to see him at the 02 in February on what would now have been my last chemo session. It's funny how things have worked out. I fully expect to fall asleep through it but it'll be nice to be out.

Lots of card making done today and not a lot else.

Looking forward to a bag of chippy chips on the way home from the flicks. I won't be hungry but I fancy them so I'm going to have some. :D

Mum coming for a cup of tea tomorrow and hopefully picking me up some bits from town on her way. I really want black pudding and liver.
