1) Mum coming round for a cuppa and staying most of the day. We just sat and chatted and it was lovely.
2) Fires lit, blanket sought out for the bed tonight and my hot water bottle ready for filling later.
3) Boots sample - a nice lemon mousse smelling body balm
4) No Spend Day
5) A couple of programmes that I actually want to watch on TV tonight. that NEVER happens!0 -
Hello all :A
Acey - Hope the hospital appointment went well.
I am busy reading your posts each day now to try to get to know you all a little better. What wonderful positive posts they are. Such an antidote in todays often miserable, complaining world.
OS Pleasures today:
1) Bought Familyt Tree maker 2010 software using my Tesco CC points. It even includes 6 months Ancestry subscription and mine is due for renewal. Bargain!
2) Got all ironing done and out of the way.
3) Not exactly moneysaving but took a friend to hospital as he has had an eye operation and can't drive. Had a 2 hour wait for him so sat and read a magazine from beginning to end in the hospital cafe with no interuptions and a nice latte.
4) Outside it is raining hard and the wind is howling on my Yorkshire hillside. Spending the evening all cosy in front of our woodburning stove.
5) Cheap and chearful Root veg and Lentil curry made this morning. Looking forward to that with a naan bread any time now.
Bye allThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Good evening all.
Newlywed Hope that you feel better now that you're at home. I was missing from the board for 3 months so sorry if I've missed what happened to youfor you xxx
Ollie Glad that I could help I hope that your DD gets something of value from the book.
My five for today:
1. Finally got the windows cleaned after threatening to do it all week
2. Gorgeous chilli from the slow cooker for tea. It was enjoyed by all & everyone thanked me afterwards.
3. Having time to read the paper after tea whilst DH watched the news.
4. Waking up in the night for the loo & finding my littlest & most scared cat (Lily, who hides away from the dogs & general noise upstairs) asleep on the loo seat. I gently lifted her off & she was mewing round me 'talking'She's a little sweetheart.
5. Hearing from the residential home that we've chosen for MIL that they have been to the hospital to assess her and will start to make things happen very soon.
I hope that everyone is having a good evening and having blessings aplenty to be glad for. Has anyone 'seen' Sparrer or Ampersand? I miss reading their posts.0 -
Newly wed - what happened? Sounds like you have had a rough time of it recently.
Ah, the Royal Orthopaedic.... good service as always. Its the only place I don't feel self concious having a weird arm! And the doors are all automatic which saves the "right arm, prop it open with your foot or bum" method I have to use everywhere else. Bad news though. The shard of bone that has jammed together the bones of my left arm (the ulna and radius) is too big and too near lots of important nerves for them to remove :-( So the non-turning hand is permanent. I don't think that's quite sunk in yet.
However..... the incredibly thorough 4th year student and Dr D found there is pressure on another nerve which is why fingers 3, 4 and 5 don't work and they CAN poke about with that and perhaps get it working again! So I will at least have some grip even if I have to use my left hand at a funny angle.
Interestingly, they were so thorough they found another defect!! When I make a fist, other people can curl their fingers in such a way that their fingernails are touching their palms (give it a go!) I can't! Can't say I ever noticed and its never stopped me doing anything. A quick phone call round family members and a check of the boys shows bigger son is the same as is my brother!!
Anyway, 5 for today....
1) Lots of attention from all the staff at the R.O from the receptionist, radiographer to the student and the big man.
2) Stopped off for a bacon sandwich on the way home.
3) Boys were picked up from school and looked after for an hour by the lady who used to be my next door neighbour when I was little! She is an honorary auntie and they had lots of fun there (and several biscuits).
4) Had a nice chat with a school friend
and 5) (This is a good one!)
The court hearing next week has been adjourned!!!! Hoorah!!!! The social worker can't make it. *Hopefully* the next free date won't be until the New Year now which means I keep the status quo for a bit longer.
Hope everyone is well, haven't been home long and am chasing my tail so haven't had a good read of all posts yet.

Oh, nearly forgot! The talk of panic attacks recently got me thinking (as I used to have them pretty much all the time). I read a bit of "Feel the Fear and Do it Anyway" in the bath last night and today I drove on the M5!!!!!!
First time in years. :-D0 -
Hi All
I would love to take credit for the cinammon twinks but I read it on the twinks thread the other day. I am glad you all like it though.
Mine for today are:
1 Ds1 and Dd back at school - yippee!!!!!!!!!!!! They were so bored in the house ill that they just played up big time and I couldnt get anything done!
2 After my 2nd cinammon twink (for breakfast) I decided that the nice thing to do was give a few away to the mums at school and after they prised them out of my hand they were very grateful, infact one of them even hid them away so she didnt have to share which did make me laugh especially as that is what i did last night!!!!!!!!!! :P
3 Tidying up the living room with ds1's help this afternoon and its still just as tidy!
4 Dd and Ds2 making some very nice strawberry tartlets in under 5's cooking today so they can eat them instead of my remaining twinks!! :P
5 Batch 2 of yesterdays bolognaise for tea, pureed into pasta sauce so no one thought it was the same meal as yesterday. It was very nice indeed.
Think thats all for today.
Newlywed - I hope you feel better soon.0 -
Acey Well Done you for feeling the fear and doing it anyway
Hope you get your arm/hand sorted so you have more movement too. Yes I did make a fist & could touch my nails to my palm
My DS3 has very moveable bones & can sometimes look very strange indeed. If he stands & places his hand flat on a wall he can turn his elbow, without moving position on the wall, almost through 180 degrees
Makes me feel quite wierd watching him.

Managed to catch up with you all at last. Well done Acey on overcoming a fear. Great feeling isn't it?
Well, today DH has a cold so we are all grounded but it has given me chance to have a really OS day and:-
1. Get the sheets dried on the line.
2. Have an NSD.
3. Bake blueberry muffins and lemon drizzle tray bake and make raspberry jam with frozen raspberries.
4. Use some cabbages (very small ones) from the garden because I haven't been out to buy veg.
5. Catch up with this thread.

Thanks, Sunnygirl. Oh, all you people with your flexible hands/arms!!! :-P0

Bella - I'm 99% sure you are the lady who posted me the Action Man patterns a couple of years ago? They're still going strong, I did the trousers and hats while mum did the jumpers!
