Dear Ollie,
Thank you very much for finding that site for fitting roman blinds, it is JUST WHAT I NEEDED! I looked all over the place but all I found was how to measure, or even on Youtube a lot of irritating Martha Steward-like American housewives with bad perms telling me how to cord some weird structure!
The instructions on the site you found are exactly what I need and now I hold new hope that I shall be able to have the blinds finished and up before Christmas!
Caterina xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -

Good evening all.
I'm feeling sorry for myself tonight as my cold & cough have got worse today. It's possibly an infection that requires antibiotics now I shall go to the out of hours docs in the morning
Muppet81 Glad you've got your appt through & hoping the time flies for you until then xxx
Newlywed Hope you're feeling stronger every day xx
Ollie WTG your daughter (and you) for managing so well yesterday after a shaky start
Hugs & special thoughts to anyone who I have missed. You are all remembered each night as I have a chat 'to Him upstairs'.
My five for today are:
1. Was feeling sorry for myself but then realising whilst reading through the replies on this thread today that I have NOTHING to worry about:o:o You are all inspirational carrying on regardless :A
2. Feeling of pride that the house all looked lovely (Thanks to Flylady thread), was warm and there was a lovely pasta bake in the oven when everyone got home. Not sure if they noticed though!
3. Spooks on BBC3 tonight - means I don't have to wait till next Weds to find out what happens. I'll probably watch it again anyway!
4. DS3 has gone to my parents house for the weekend and as they called in after school to collect his things he got out of the car to give me a big hug and said he'd miss me.
5. Same son was wracking his brains last night to think of something that he could cook with his Nanna that she could eat too. Mum has had pancreatitis and gall bladder probs recently & while waiting for surgery she can't eat any fat at all. DS3 and his Nan always bake together when he goes up. He decided on merangue (sp?) and fresh fruit salad in the end :A
Have a good evening all & I'll catch up with everyone tomorrow xxx0 -
Hi all,
Hugs to everyone who's going through whatever kind of stuff life has thrown at you.
No it was completely sudden - went to the docs cos of pains I was having and got sent immediately to a&e with a letter from the drKinda knew it was a possibility though coz of the pain I'd been in
Apparently my appendix had perforated and was bad. Hence why I was repeatedly told I was lucky not to have been in intensive care in a much worse state.
I faced all my fears at once - canulas, drips, tubes, catheters, being operated on.... Once you face them, the fear for next time round is greatly reduced
1. Being able to get to the dr's for a checkup
2. Having enough cash to get a taxi back!
3. Fishcake and oven chips from the freezer for tea.
4. Having a lovely OH making cuppas and doing loads of extra work at home that he won't let me do(I'm managing a bit of really simple cooking though - hence lots of fishcakes and chips and sausage and smash this week)
5. Having the slow cooker so I can prepare tomorrow's dinner in the morning and then just ignore it all day
Just frustrated being at home all week when I would usually be baking, cooking and making bread.... and I've no energy for it just nowworking on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Blimey, Newlywed, what a scary time! Glad you are home now and on the mend.
I'm writing earlier than normal because I'm sure the power will go off due to the storm. I live half way between the Malvern Hills and the Clee Hills (and am very high up) and the noise from the wind is horrible!
Anyway, 5 for today:
1) Went to see my mother and did not get irritated despite not really being asked about my appointment at the Royal Ortho yesterday or the fact my arm is now in this sorry state forever... still, that is the way she is!
2) Went to the library, swapped my magazines in the free box and printed out my college homework.
3) Got a few jobs done in the house, tidied the garden, swept all the leaves (how pointless was that?!) and emptied the waterbutt which is overflowing again already!
4) Made a nice king prawn korma for tea.
5) Listening to bigger son (9) chatting to his friend on the phone as they play "Club Penguin" on their computers!
6) Having the woodburning stove on full blast so the living room is boiling, just ready for watching Have I Got News For You!

Hi all
Newlywed - make sure you take it easy and let your hubby do everything for you!!
Mine for today are:
1 Popping into town this morning and getting myself some pink fluffy boot slippers that are really warm in primark (I never buy myself anything so this is a real treat)
2 Getting junior monopoly, junior scrabble and hungry frogs in the charity shop for ds1 as a fun way to help him with his reading and counting etc
3 Ds1 beating me at monopoly. He has never played before and did so well at counting and adding etc
4 A good friend of mine so happy cos she got in touch with her family after years of not speaking and knowing I did my little bit to help as I put her on facebook which is how they found her
5 Having 2 free samples in my avon order instead of 1 and one of them being a lovely purfume that i will definatly use
Hugs to all, I have a weeks worth of enders to catch up on so best start now.0 -
1) Made a batch of onion-free chutneys this morning for my FIL, who can't eat onions, using all the jars that my lovely friends have saved for me.
2) Baking second Christmas cake. Never made gluten free before this year so I'm doing two slightly different ones to see how they work out.
3) Not having the heating on this morning as I studied in the kitchen while the oven was on. Very MSE
4) Getting some bargain chicken in Mr T's. I made a curry, which we can have twice.
5) Free fire this evening as we are burning the 20 year old creeper we took off the house. (Sounds awful but we have planted four new trees in the garden, so far, with 2 more in pots to go in.)0 -
A very quick post to say hello. I'm recovering from an op so am on a bit of a go slow. Haven't caught up on posts yet but hope everyone is well! Here's something that makes me smile, Justin Timberlake's take on being in a Beyonce video

Good evening  - very chilly evening and I'm sitting here with a fleecey blanket round my shoulders while I'm listening to some Leonard Cohen on the comp
.
Muppet81 - sorry to hear that you've got to wait till 24th for your biopsy - here's hoping that the next 10days pass quickly ((((HUGS)))). Remember that we're all here for you - keep coming in and posting to us - we're all sending very positive 'sister vibes' to you
yummyhoney - wtg on your OH bonus and what a great f-i-l :j.
Caterina - only too happy to help- Good Luck with it.
Reverbe - Great to see you still catching us up with your pleasures. One of my fave films in there 'The Englishman etc' - never really liked Hugh Grant till I watched that one. That Jaegar Event sounds fantastic - well done you on getting an invite
. I'm still
at that Liverpool defeat
.
SunnyGirl - Thank you. What a thoughtful little soul your ds3 is thinking about his nana like that. Hope you manage to get some anti's tomorrow and get rid of your
((((BIG HUGS)))).
newlywed - wow - how awful for you AND for your family - it must have been a very worrying time for you all. Good to know that your OH is keeping you well supplied with cuppas and taking the bulk of the work off your shoulders. Please take care and make sure that you recover properly.
ACEY - sorry to hear you didn't get much empathy from your dm today - I fully understand your disappointment, believe me ! Good Luck for this evening and hope things don't get too bad as you 'batten down the hatches' - lol at the leaf-sweeping before the storm hits. at the Prawn Korma.
nuttybabe - well done on your charity shop finds for ds1AND on your Primarni boot slippers. We haven't got one around here - think the nearest is Liverpool city centre and I hate going there. May pop into Poundstretcher and see if they've got any cos my dgd1 would love some. And well done you on helping your friend to get back in touch with her family - hopefully a very happy family christmas for them all
.
Mine for today:
1. My letter about conmen had an effect on my tenants as I got lots of calls about '2 men with clipboards' this morning. Ran round - all guns blazing for a confrontation - to find two of our Housing Inspectors checking that the recent Gas Boiler Servicing had been done to tenants' satisfaction. But 10/10 to them all for taking heed of my warning.
2. Visit from DS1 at lunchtime for a cuppa and a chat - good to see him - that's twice this week. I bet he could sniff-out those Twinks!
3. HM Spicy Parsnip Soup for lunch today.
4. One of my tenants worrying about a form to fill in. Visited to find it was a letter from TV Licensing to say that he doesn't need to pay anything else to them for 12 months as he's paid for both THIS year's Licence and NEXT year's. By then he'll be 74, so will only have to pay for another couple of months as he'll get his freebie one at 75. His face was a picture when I explained to him.
5. OH got some lovely whoopsied ham this afternoon and we had it with delicious organic crusty bread that he found in Somerfield .
6. DD rang earlier worried sick about her DD1 (11). She'd stayed behind at school for football and then was supposed to go straight to her dad's for the weekend. Her dad had rung to say she hadn't arrived, it was really dark and bouncing down rain. Nearly two hours overdue, he managed to find where her friend lived and there she was waiting for the rain to go off as she was only wearing her PE kit with a just a blazer over it . Needless to say, she got a right rollicking from her father. There'll be another from her mother on Sunday when she goes back home and heaven help her next time I see her ! Her mobile needed recharging and she couldn't find the recharger - what do you do with them?
So I will be heading for bed feeling quite relieved that my day/week is over and that I don't need to get up quite so early in the morning. Today was payday (well Sunday really but in the bank today as it's Friday), but I've not touched any money yet. Will be heading to Huyton tomorrow afternoon for some charity shop cruising, grocery shopping and whoopsie hunting - wonder what bargains are lurking with my name on them .
prayers and ((((BIG HUGS)))) for everybody - love Ollie xxx0
