5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Hello
Yesterday was a total write off! So I will focus on today:
1. Lovely family lunch
2. Clean and tidy house
3. Just about to bake for the week
4. Kitten cuddles
5. I made an effort not to look like a drudge todayTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Forgot to update my pleasures for yesterday so here we go:
Added to the first 2 in earlier post, Saturday:
3 - Booking a free posh hotel room in Cambridge in a couple of weekends, for free, using up an offer I had from the time DH and I went to Bruges and stayed in a fairly posh hotel then. I had forgotten all about that offer and it is very welcome now that we need a little break!
4 - DH and DD made a lovely veg soup and we ate it with the defrosted bread that DD's BF had brought from his work the other day.
5 - As an absolute exception to my no-TV rule, I stayed up with DH to watch a programme about the "noughties" (2000-2009), very funny and tongue in cheek, we had the woodstove on and I was knitting a scarf, lovely peaceful evening.
Sunday:
1 - Looooong lie-in after last night late night in front of TV!
2 - Too late for breakfast so we decided to make Brunch, sent DD and BF to buy eggs and made a great big pan of bubble and squeak, with fried onions and eggs (for all of them) and fried veggie burger (for me).
3 - Baked a load of scones using vegan kefir so I could eat some myself with damson jam made by my friend and a cup of tea. Also baked two soda breads with the dairy kefir, to give as gifts, one to DD's BF's family and the other to some people that DH is visiting later for a Transition Town meeting.
4 - Almost finished to do all the family filing, there was a couple of years' worth of paperwork and now nearly done! Soon the table will be free for me to do more crafts at home.
5 - Not terribly OS but a little treat (of sorts): went to B&Q with the 15% money off voucher and bought a new toilet seat as our old one was cracked. Instead of buying yet another cheap piece of white plastic I decided to give my family's bums a treat and bought a lovely bamboo one, which matches the bamboo floor. Much more expensive but ohboy, we got a real posh bog now hehehehe!.
6 - Anticipating the tofu & veg stirfry that DH is cooking. DH is the BEST at cutting all the veg in even, equal strips - so much that I have to leave the kitchen in irritation when I see him doing his fussy cutting (I am at a loss when it comes to fine cooking and haute cuisine with fiddly decorations - I'll do great big lumps of dough and roughly cut chunks of veg anytime!) but then I love the end result so I am not moaning!
Have a great evening everybody xxxFinally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hey all
Mine for today are:
Kids gave me a lie in til 7am this morning woo hoo!
Had a nice time at family get together.
Eating a delish profiterol dessert at said get together
Managing to get a couple of "tidy-up" jobs done earlier this evening.
Glad to hear my FIL is still in one piece after being knocked of his bike about an hour ago. Just hope there is no lasting damamge (apart from me and H kicking his rear end about not wearing his cycle helmet)
I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

3 Whoopsie yum yums in adsa today and I am just about to eat one
4 Orange have offered me the phone I wanted free (meant to be £50 on the tarriff I want), 100 mins, unlimited text and 80mb internet for £13.50 (nearly half my usual monthly amount) a month and I didnt even have to threaten to leave - wonder what I would get if I did!!! :P

Can I echo what bunny too said? I read every post as well and send little cheers out into the ether when things are going well for other people and (((hugs))) and crossed fingers to those that need them when things have become tough. Please keep posting whatever.
Anyway, my five for today:
1. Visiting my parents and taking them a couple of cheap, plain, cream coloured fleeces from Mr S (less than £4 each, are very cosy and wash well -we have one each). My mum had been complaining she'd been getting very cold so I'm hoping she'll use one of these as extra wrapping asap.
2. Enjoying being at their flat. They have huge picture windows onto balconies with wonderful views of the sky.
3. Getting a load of washing mostly line-dried then onto the new airer.
4. Getting a few more little Christmas-stocking-type presents (and rediscovering the one I bought last week and had lost because I'd had to hide it somewhere unusual in a hurry ). Hope this isn't speaking too soon but I'm feeling very on top of present buying this year. Our Christmases have been at a very simple and manageable level for over a decade now and each year it gets better.
5. I'm in the middle of sorting out the veggiebox order and meal plan for next week - it's not finished yet but it's definitely a pleasure and a very easy way to feel more in control of life.
Sleep well

Hi all, hope you are all well - haven't posted for a while, been having some heart over head dilemas and have struggled to get my head straight. Hopefully coming back here and counting pleasures will help:
1 - laughing with my nieces and nephews
2 - a tasty roast dinner
3 - plenty of chicken left over to be 'rubber'
4 - scarf watch - 10 inches
5 - looking forward to the week ahead:beer:0 -
Hi ACEY yes I am she of the Action Man patterns, pleased to hear you are still getting mileage out of them.
Not been around much so here are a few accumulated pleasures of the last few days.
1. Freezer finally filled up with baking again, all my boxes had emptied and as I have nowhere to store empty boxes I was glad to fill them up.
2. A craft demo and I managed not to spend toooo much.
3. No washing hanging on the airer today, first time for ages.
4. Visitors for dinner today left enough for a 'free' meal for us tomorrow, even a piece of damson pie (last of the season) for DH.
5. Ooops, haven't got a five, must try harder tomorrow.

bella - sounds like you had a very productive day today - baking AND visitors :T.
ACEY - lovely to hear your boys are still playing nicely together and well done you on your busy evening.
Mine for today:
1. Got the bus to St.Helens for the car boot sale this morning and DD put dgs1 on the bus when it stopped outside her house- so useful
.
2. Was a little late at getting to the sale but still managed a couple of bargains - plug-in phone for £2; large bottle of 4711 Cologne & soap in a lovely gift-box for £1; 'Hot Wires Electronics Set' and 'D-i-y Crank Radio Set' for dgs1 for £2 each (he's a bit of a wiring obsessive ).
3. Lunch in Wetherspoons - managed extra freebie drinks plus a filled coffee loyalty card after making a complaint about the pastry in my meal :j.
4. On to Wilkies to buy a Christmas Tree and deccies for DD - my contribution to her Christmas as a House-warming pressie for her.
5. On to Asda to change some leggings that I'd bought the wrong size for dgd1. Checked out the whoopsies while we were there as well - 2 packs of Yum-yums, cheesey-topped rolls, hot-cross buns, chelsea buns, 2 packs of lovely sliced Wiltshire Ham (now in my freezer) :j.
6. Back to DD's with our haul for the day. Great visit with her, the kids, her b/f, his friend and friend's g/f - whoopsies came in very useful
. Dgs1 disappeared upstairs with his Hot Wires Set and proceeded to work his way through the experiments with great delight - well worth the £2 to see the smile on his face each time he accomplished something.
Think it's about time I headed for beddy-byes - it's been a l-o-n-g day. Nitey-nite all and sleep well. Love and ((((hugs)))) to all - Ollie xxx
