    1. Emptying out a large filing cabinet which had become the hidey-place for all sorts and was covered with books etc for the past 6 months or so (shame :o on me!). I'm starting to imagine that wall clear with new curtains!

    2. Getting on the phone and finally booking to have the carpet cleaned - tomorrow! Only £30 for the lounge, which is way less than I'd expected. It would be that much (almost?) just to hire the machine and do it myself - and this way I get to complain if it's not near-spotless afterwards;).

    3. Picking DS1 up from school an hour ahead of his brother and him being absolutely delightful company for the next hour.

    4. Lots of washing and ironing done.

    5. Laughing at the TV and remembering that I never really laughed in life til meeting my husband. (Take that how you will.:rotfl:)

Busy day tomorrow - sleep tight all.

Evening  - need to post this evening as I'm up and out early tomorrow. Need to be in the city centre by 9.15am for a Training Day that starts at 9.30.

Thanks for the comments about the smilies. Some of the ones that I use are from this site. When you go into the 'Reply Box', at the bottom there is a smaller box marked 'Go Advanced' - click on that and another box will open with some smilies on the right hand side. Underneath those is the word 'More' in [] - click on that and you'll get another little window with more smilies.

I also use this site for free smilies - lots of good ones on there :). I've seen some other brilliant smilies that I've never come across before - I think it's SunnyGirl who does those .

Louba - Well done you on making the petrol last longer by walking to work :T and wd to your OH for the fish and chips by candlelight ;).
savingforoz - wtg on the progress with your writing - coming along nicely now .
Muppet81 - Hope you all have a great time when your dad comes to stay :).
firstyear - wtg to your DD on the potty training :j.
BitsyBeans - Good to hear that your dk's enjoyed your pasta with sauce and cheese .
RainyWednesday - good luck with the e-baying and well done on the pennies jar :T.
Caterina - I'm certain that you live on a completley different planet to the one that I'm on  - exactly how many hours in the day are there on yours please? You never seem to stop :T.
bella - well done to your very sweet DD - that is so nice :).
nuttybabe - wtg on the Yorkshire Pud success  - something that I can never get right either :(.
SunnyGirl - Oh dear :o - thank goodness for the NHS, eh ;)!
Rummer - you sound as though you need somesmiley-hug008.gif at the moment - hope things improve for you soon :).
ACEY - mmmm cheese and beetroot butties while sitting in front of an open fire .
scotrae - that's a great price to have your lounge carpet cleaned :T and it's good to know that your OH brought laughter and smiles into your life smiley-love010.gif .

    Mine for today:

    1. Toast and Porridge with syrup on for brekkie this morning .

    2. Strange day - on/off rain and sunshine all day BUT I managed to keep dry by trying to go out between showers ;).

    3. Visited a tenant who had a friend with her worrying about his Water Bill for a house that he had just moved into. Volunteered to make a phone call for him and discovered that it had been sent in error. The man is on a Water Meter and has now been estimated as needing to pay less than half of what the bill had quoted at least until his first metered bill comes in :j - think I've made a friend for life there ;).

    4. Took a trip to the village to get some cash for tomorrow's journey to Liverpool and went into Asda for a nosey around. Quite a lot of whoopsies - good bread ones ;), mangey-tuts for 10p per pack, sliced organic French Beans for 20p, potato salad for 15p etc.

    5. Back home to Lamb's Liver in onion gravy, with mash and braised cabbage.

    6. Need to get off to bed now - meant to go much earlier than this .

((((BIG HUGS)))) to all who need them and speak again tomorrow - nitey nite love Ollie xxx

    Hiya, Sparrer! :hello:

Ollie, thanks very much for the link to that site - have bookmarked it smiley-bounce016.gif:D

    My five pleasures for Monday:

    1. Getting a load of useable vouchers from various shops in the post today, including one for £6 from a stationers :D.

    2. Managing to get a load more washing done, almost completely line dried (it was fine and really blowy where we live for most of the day) and everything indoor aired. Am praying for more fine windy weather tomorrow. It's great being able to get washing washed, dried and put away all in one day in November without using a tumble drier or central heating.

    3. Tried out a new recipe for veggie goulash for supper which was lovely with HM bread. Made double so one more meal for the freezer. Made double apple crumble for pud, one for tonight and one for the freezer as well. DS2 said it was the best crumble topping he'd ever tasted. :D

    4. Have discovered that I can still remember how to knot friendship bracelets and what fun they are to make.

    5. Finding a stash of sandwich bags, freezer bags, tinfoil, clingfilm, fairy cake cases, paper napkins, decorated cellophane bags for HM Christmas food presents, doilies etc that I didn't remember that we had. It was still packed up from the move. There's enough there, I reckon, to see us through Christmas and into the New Year. Lots of pennies saved.:D

    Sweet dreams,

    B xxx

Hi everyone, I haven't posted for weeks but have been reading and thanking as I love this thread.

I've been suffering with a slipped disk in my lower back since just before half term and have been attempting to get better but am feeling really grotty after a few days of thinking that it was sorted as I now have a tummy bug!! Feeling really emotional at the moment (have just burst into tears typing something on my own thread :( ), so I think that I need to take stock of the good things that have/are happening...

    1. When my back went, friends and family came to my aid, and I can never thank them enough. I was so scared about what would happen with DD as I couldn't walk without sticks for a couple of days and was in agony most of the time. We were scooped up and looked after :)
    2. DD has been an angel, she is so caring, gentle, funny, the best daughter a mummy could ask for. It saddens me that she has had to see me ill so much, and that she has always said (she's only 4 now!) that when she grows up she wants to be a doctor so that she can make me better!
    3. I took her out for a bike ride along the sea front on Sunday, making the most of the weather (and of my back feeling fine that day, thank goodness her bike is lightweight, lol). We had such a lovely time together :)
    4. I've nearly put aside all the money I need for my holidays next year and DD's 5th birthday party, and have also put £138 into my mortgage this month. Woo hoo!!
    5. Reading all the lovely posts on here, sending hugs to those that are going through bad times and vicariously enjoying the good times of others.
    6. Whilst being at home on sick leave, I've watched so many great documentaries on ipl*yer etc, hopefully I've expanded my mind if nothing else whilst lolling about :)
    7. Have enjoyed being more of a stay at home mummy, making sure DD's tummy is full of yummy home-made food and that she's up to bed at the right time, having had great stories, colouring and fun. She gets run down quite easily as I did at her age, so by me not being in the office til 6 3 days a week, I've been able to have more time for her rather than rushing around.
    8. Enjoyed my first parent's evening, it made me feel very grown up, but also so proud of what DD is achieving already, her enthusiasm and good behaviour have been noted, and she's making some lovely friends amongst her classmates.
    9. Looking forward to having one or two friends come down this weekend to see me, as I can't drive up to them as previously planned. It'll be lovely to have a girly catch up and put the world to rights :)
  • Morning everyone, my 5 for today are.

    1. Garden centre for lunch and a walk with friends.:j

    2. Making stuffed peppers for tea tonight. ys red peppers and bag of storecupboard cous cous. Make it up with some gravey and cheese it. Bake in remoska.:money:

    3. Large bag of potatoes delivered, so will spend time tonight peeling, chopping, par boiling and freezing some of them. It's really handy having them prepared this way when i'm short of time.Tip picked up in the early days of this forum.:T

    4. Found a m&s gift card that i'd forgot about. Very happy me today. Looking forward to spending that. £50.

    5. Spending time on the forum, having wee look. I normally only post on here,do a few of the other challenges 4k a year, storecupboard etc etc. Find these keep me on track.

Hugs to all who need them, have a great os day everyone. Love all the smiles. x

I suspect Sunnygirl is using this site http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/misc.php?do=getsmilies&wysiwyg=0&forumid=4# for her smiley's. We got them from Money Saving Diva on the Daily thread so all [STRIKE]complaints[/STRIKE] credit goes to her ;)

Lets take over the world using smileys :D

2 - made a big batch of soup last night, yum
3 - doing quite well on groceries this month and have managed to hold off going to the supermarket for another few days with some careful planning :)
4 - found some more stuff to go to the car boot sale at the weekend - now there is quite a respectable pile!
5 - once the stuff goes to the car boot sale I'll have a lovely clutter free flat...maybe!

    Hi all

Ollie, I have ON days (like yesterday when I do loads of stuff) and OFF days (like today when I am doing very little), no magic, just variables in energy! I can assure you that, while I do all these things, my house is so dirty that I can see dust bunnies scurrying along the corridors and lurking in corners! I am good at making things but am the worst housewife when it comes to other things!

Muppet81, best wishes, I hope all will be well, please try to stay positive if you can, it must be a very difficult time for you. I am thinking of you and wishing you the best of health (((HUGS))).

Weird day today, woke up not feeling 100%, some tummy upset and lethargy. Had some difficulty getting up to bake the bread,. which I then put in the oven too soon and it got burnt outside and stayed quite raw inside. Having some negative thoughts and feelings which I am trying to dispel by substituting with positive affirmations (but struggling to do this).

Here now, trying to squeeze the silver lining out of my dark(ish) cloud and finding pleasures in my day:

1 - Sun shining, got a wash in the machine which will go out to dry on the line soon.

2 - The bread I baked will be ok once sliced and toasted.

3 - Yesterday night I made Twinks Hobnobs, they came out a bit like thick flapjacks but taste great, so today I have pudding ready for dinner.

4 - I am feeling better than this morning

5 - Because I decided that I am not going to my craft class I have all day to potter about at home, without anyone here to disturb me, spending time alone in peace (rare!).

Bye all, see you tomorrow xxx
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).
