Hi, everyone, hope you are all OK and hugs if you're not ((()))
Recent pleasures for me include:
1. Delicious spicy potato and peanut stew - turned out much yummier than I'd hoped.
2. Finishing my story to first draft stage - in the middle of revising it. Really pleased that I wrote c12,000 words between Thursday lunchtime and Monday evening.
3. Sleeping really well last night and waking up refreshed.
4. CSI Miami on TV last night. :j
5. Cuddles with my foster cats. They're gorgeous. :heart2:Life is not a dress rehearsal.0 -
Hi Ollie
Thanks for those kind words. And for the suggestions. Dd is 3 and a bit too young for the guilt trip (I tried that last night but she didnt seem to bothered!!!!)
She doesnt really like any food, just cheesy pasta (and then she wont eat much of it) and pizza! She does have pizza once a week and cheesy pasta twice a week and then I try to make other meals that she will like but usually she wont even try it unless its chicken nuggets and chips but she doesnt really like chips that much either!! She wont eat a roast or anything with tomatoe in or anything like stew or curry. She did used to eat it all but at 18 months started to get fussy and has got worse and worse.
we are trying to let her be when eating but that is really hard when she is sat there saying she doesnt like it when I know she has eaten it before and she wont even try it!!
Ah well, think I might review my meal plan for the next week or so and make sure there is at least one thing on her plate that I know she will eat, I do usually try to do that she has got even worse in the last month so getting quite hard!!! But its cheesy pasta for tea so at least she should be happy tonight!
I will be back later to post my pleasures!!!
Thanks again.0 -
Hello again - few spare minutes
RainyWednesday - I guess that today's is especially for you hun. What a wonderful friend you've got there - fingers crossed for your notebook/insurance claim.
HariboJunkie - thanks for the recipe - I'll have a go and see how it works out.
savingforoz - :jgood luck with revising the first draft of your story.
nuttybabe - awwww sorry hun - there was me thinking that your DD was an [STRIKE]stroppy[/STRIKE] strong-willed 6-10yr old. It IS hard when trying to get 3yr olds to eat what's good for them, especially as they're capable of knowing what they like BUT not what they need. As she seems so enamoured of 'miss', is there any chance of enlisting her help. Maybe suggest a 'nursery chat' about food and what we eat
.
I've had another one for today:
Read our 'Team Brief' on the Intranet in work and discovered that we've had a wage increase of 1.25% (not much but better than nothing at all) AND it's back-dated to April. My payslip arrived and I found there's an extra £89 in there :j. More would have been nice, BUT I'm not complaining - very grateful to have a job at a time when many others have lost theirs due to the recession.
Our Board of Directors have all voted NOT to have a pay increase this year - :T to them.0 -
Good morning all :A
Ollie how do you manage to do all you do and post such lovely caring personal messages on here? You make me feel so humble. Great news about your pay rise. Full marks to your Board of Directors.
Being battered by the weather today so going outside is a no-no.
Pleasures for today:
1) Just had a £25 win on the Premium Bonds
2) My Dad is due later this afternoon and is staying overnight. He is 88 and I don't get to see him as often as I would like. Morrocan Beef casserole with Orange, plus a veggie version for me, is done ready and smells really good. Suspect it maight be a bit spicy for my golden oldies but hope not. Loaf in the breadmaker and a further supply of Grans Natter bars just out of Remoska.
3) Received a nice newsy letter this morning from my distant cousin who I found recently whilst doing my family tree.
4) I love being cosy inside the house when it is awful outside. And being 1000 feet up on a Yorkshire hillside, it is AWFUL today.
5) House all nice and clean and tidy in readiness. That always feels good.
Hugs and thoughts to all who feel they need them today. Thanks again to all of you who are offering me your kind thoughts at the moment. It really does help.
xThank you for this site :jNow OH and I are both retired, MSE is a Godsend0 -
Good afternoon
Ollie I was confused by the smileys too at first. You right click the image you want to use and click on 'copy image location' then go to the reply box on MSE and go to the little icon at the top that looks like a postcard 'insert image'. Click on that then delete the 'http:/' bit thats there and right click on the now empty box. Click 'paste' and the link will come up in the box from Hysteriasisters. Click ok and it'll appear on your reply. Hope that this makes sense and that you're not feeling a bit like this now
Muppet Continued hugs & thoughts for you
My five for today are:
1. MIL's room looks lovely and just waiting for her to be released from the hospital now :rotfl:
2. Did my food shopping and its looking like I'll come under budget. Thanks to all the tips & hints I've learned here over the last year.
3. Chippy Teaso no cooking tonight.
4. I spent an hour last night doing mealplans for the next 3 weeks so I've got shopping lists already written out that'll just need things we run out of adding to them and non food items.
5. A neighbour passed on some magazines that she'd read so I sent some of mine over to her to read. We've both got new mags at no extra cost :money:
Hugs to all who need one and have a pleasant evening everyone.
Ooh another one
6. Spooks is on tonight :j:j:j0 -
Hi all
Much better day today, feeling positive and glowing even though the day is a bit gloomy (but it is only weather!).
Muppet: a singalong Mamma Mia DVD? I did not know such thing existed, I got to check with Amazon now! Of course you would have had to sing along, how could anyone resist? I love Abba!!! Shame about your cat's lack of taste though hehehe
Here are mine for the day:
1 - Cuddle with DD this morning, lazying in bed and chatting about this and that.
2 - Work PO Box visit done this morning so only 2 hours to do pc work this afternoon.
3 - Shopping in Boots found good quality (natural-ish) shampoo and body gel at decent discount, plus got Advantage points.
4 - Bought parsley and garlic in the market, much cheaper than supermarket.
5 - DD left me some tomato sauce from the pasta dish she cooked for her lunch so I had pasta tomato sauce soup (with parsley) on my return from my shopping trip.
6 - Found very discounted tickets (£10 each) for Handel Messiah at ENO, so I booked for me and DH, it will be a nice December treat.
7 - Anticipating one of my Twinks Hobnob flapjack-like thingies with a cup of tea as I prepare to do "real" work.
Have a lovely evening everybody. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
1. Found a gorgeous oil painting in a charity shop for a pound. I am so in love with it!
2. Found one of my favourite films in the same charity shop, also for a pound still in its wrapper. (Mystic Pizza - a real chick flick!)
3. Drove to Oxford and back and managed not to get (very) lost, which is a real achievement.
4. Listened to the Grease soundtrack in the car and sang along at the top of my lungs!
5. It's DH's birthday and he didn't want a cake so I'm making him some lovely hob nobs instead
Congrats to Muppet for the premium bond win, always a lovely feeling!0 -
Good Evening!
