5 OS Pleasures in your Day Today part 2

Quite a busy day today. Here's my 5:
1) Helping out at school. No teacher today so I tried to help out the replacements.
2) Bigger son had his 2nd skiing lesson and enjoyed it. (A local high school has its own dry ski slope - how unlikely is that! - and they rent it out to the primary schools. So he has 5 hour long lessons at just £20 for the lot!!)
3) Grumpy cat has deigned to come in and go to sleep on the sofa.
4) On top of the housework and washing up (at the moment).
5) Just ordered tickets for "Joseph" when it comes to Malvern in January. Hardly money saving but little son went to see it with school (they went to Malvern as well) and is obsessed!
Plenty to look forward to tomorrow. Big son is going swimming with school then both sons have gymnastics after school. I've got college in the morning then am going to have my hair cut by hairdressing students, wash, cut and blow dry - for £4.
Hope everyone has a good evening,

ACEY do you live near Malvern? It is my favourite place in the whole world! Just hearing the name has put a huge smile on my face. I used to holiday there every year as a child and recently went back as an adult and it was just as fabulous. Tried to convince my OH that we should move their but he was having none of it.
I gave up on my baking idea and made myself a huge mug of hot chocolate filled to the brim with marshmallows, lit some candles, turned the lights out and relaxed with MSE!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer - I live about 16 miles from Worcester so... perhaps 24ish miles from Malvern? Can see the Malvern Hills from my garden :-)0

Oh I would love that! I do remember galloping across them on a very excitable mare! Happy memories indeed, thank you Acey for lifting my whole day!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

Haribo x
I can still remember the parents' evening when we were told that ( well about a boy obviously :D) and asking " are we talking about the same boy?" Teacher replied " about this tall, blond hair, blue eyes ?" :rotfl::rotfl:
Sorry this post is not really what this thread is aboutSo one big, big pleasure.............. I scrubbed the kitchen floor with scrub brush on hands and knees this afternoon, it positively gleams

3. Cottage pie from Sunday LO's and more beef frozen away for another one some other time.
4. DH booked a cottage in West Yorks in two weeks time so that we can go and spend some time with 90yr old aunt.
5. Finished knitting the back of the cardigan I am making for myself from very reduced wool. Started in two week's ago, aim to finish by Christmas.

Good morning  - rather wild and wicked out there  so there won't be any laundry done/dried on the line at this house today.
Broomstick - glad you enjoyed the smilies site. Don't you just love rediscovering what you managed to squirrel away from the previous Christmas? I've got an entire box (5 reams of paper size) with napkins, paper tablecloths, doilies, paper plates etc all PLUS DS2 gave me all the stuff left over from the christening catering a few weeks ago - I now have enough doilies to keep an 'Olde Tea Shoppe' going for years
! Love the sound of your Veg Goulash .
Kittikins - lovely to see you back again  - what wonderful friends/family you have to 'scoop up' you and your delightful DD. Congrats on your first parents evening and to your DD on settling into school life so well and so quickly :T.
bunny too - well done on the peppers stuffed with couscous. That's one that I love as well - but OH isn't keen on couscous, so I don't make it very often. Wtg on finding a forgotten gift card
. Thanks for the bbq sauce recipe
.
BitsyBeans/SunnyGirl - thanks for the link to Hysterisisters - but I'm struggling to use it. When I click/copy/paste I'm getting a box with a red x in the corner. Am I supposed to 'saveas' and use directly from my comp? Maybe I need to adjust my comp settings or something
.
Louba - well done on stretching last month's grocery shopping :T and good luck with your car bootying.
honey - well done you on catching up with your laundry :j - I cringe when I think what would happen if my w/m broke down.
Muppet81 - ((((Hugs & Prayers)))) for you - I do agree about 'night-time thoughts' being the worst. lol at your cat - obviously doesn't have an ear for good music. wtg to your OH for the choccie . How lovely to have a pheasant walking around your garden
.
Caterina - ((((Hugs)))) for you in your dark cloud. My last batch of Twinks came out like round flapjacks too (OH preferred them!) - may try them with Plain Flour next time.
SunnyGirl - good for you taking two reclining chairs with m-i-l - having worked in a nursing home, I can tell you it's 'walking sticks at 3 paces' when somebody sits in the wrong seat - some of them may forget what they've eaten for lunch but they won't forget something like that !
HariboJunkie - mmmm HM banana and pecan muffin  - do you have the recipe for these please? Well done to your DD's on being so well thought of in school :T.
BitsyBeans - thanks for the heads-up on the calendars - I get those for my sis each year, so I'll go get one NOW before they run out- we have a 'Card Factory' shop in our shopping centre. Well done you on the Leek & Potato Soup
.
DitaBombita - well done on your extra earnings for your wedding fund and on your mum allowing you to help with the Christmas Food preparations. Don't remember any of mine volunteering to help before they left home.
Broomstick - thanks for the heads-up on the Enid Blyton play on i-player - I'll have a look-see at that tonight. Good to hear that your mum is appreciating her fleece blanket
. well done to your DS for the pancake
.
Rummer - quote 'Just realised I write pretty much the same things everyday! Now does that mean that I have lots of little pleasures each day or that I need a change of routine???' unquote - I would say it means that you can still find delight/pleasure in some of the most ordinary things in life and that is brill :T.
Patchwork - wtg on your Book Group selecting your choice of book to read next :j. Great swappsie there .
nuttybabe - sorry to hear that everybody is full of germs/bugs at the moment and that your dd decided to 'try your patience'. I can well remember one, or other, of my dk's occasionally telling me that they 'hated me'. My reply was always the same, 'what a pity because I really love you very much indeed and it makes me sad to think you don't feel the same' - proper 'guilt inducing' and always resulted in hugs and apologies. An 'injured silence' worked much better than ranting/raving with my kids, as that was just 'water off a duck's back' with them. How old is your dd? Have you tried asking her what she wants to eat and then coming to a healthy compromise on a couple of days a week? Is she old enough to help prepare meals with you?
ACEY - lol at grumpy cat - he's obviously realised that November isn't that pleasant and it's 'got to him'! Hope you enjoy 'Joseph' - I've seen it a couple of times (in 1986 with Mike Holoway (Flintlock/Tomorrow People) as 'Joseph' and PJ Proby as an Elvis-style 'Pharoah'; and in 2003 with Steven Gateley) - it's one of those musicals where you can sing your head off.
Churchmouse - if I cleaned the floor like that, I'd never get back up again- well done you :T.
bella - hope you have a good visit to your aunt AND that the weather is kind to you all.
Mine for yesterday:
1. Really early start for me - had to be out of the house and on the bus by 8.15 . It made me appreciate the luxury of working from home and not having to brave the elements and crowds on the buses.
2. Travel arrangements worked well and found the coach pick-up easily to get to the hotel. Met some decent people who live fairly local to me.
3. Really interesting conference/training day on how people in the community can get involved in working to help reduce crime and its effects in their own areas. http://www.communitycrimefighters.org.uk/
4. Discovering a way of sorting out a problem that my sheltered scheme has by using the Community Payback Scheme (used to be called Community Service) :j.
5. Great freebie lunch of Roast Beef, Yorkshire Pud, roasties, honey-roasted carrots&parsnips, mangetouts with custard tart to follow.
6. OH met me off the coach transfer in Liverpool and we had a walk around the shopping centre before coming back home. It felt really strange to be 'out after dark'.
7. DD has been on her own, well apart from her dk's, for two full-days without any 'panic phonecalls'!
Really need to get offski and start work for the day - will pop back in again later in the day - hope everybody has a good day - love Ollie xxx0 -
Hi all
It's wednesday (and it's rainy
) nearly halfway through the week :j
Bit of a drama on Monday night when I spilt a glass of water on my beloved dell notebook - I have a horrible feeling it is completely kaput ( it is still in the airing cupboard at the moment) an expense I can't afford at the moment, though this is why we have accidental damage cover I suppose. I am quite lost without it, though more to come on this in my list below...
1 - made a delicious Thai green chicken curry soup from Sunday's rubber chicken
2 - a NSD
3 - a wonderful friend offering to lend me a notebook until mine is fixed/ replaced. So generous. I am a lucky girl to have such a good friend
4 - getting on with my current OU course again (it's a short course about Leonardo Da Vinci, absolutely fascinating)
5- an empty house yesterday evening, so enjoying some time knitting while listening to the radio. I do love it when the television is off
hope you all have good days xx:beer:0 -
Ollie.... I'm afraid my muffins are a bit of a throw it together job
but just use any basic muffin mix and add a mashed banana, some chopped pecan and a tbs of maple syrup to the mix. I pop a half pecan brushed in syrup on the top too.
off to work in a minute but hope to be back later with some pleasures. xxx0
