Hi Purple Kitten - I'm so looking forward to the end of this contract too. I also made home made burgers over the weekend. Do you think we are twins separated at birth - only joking :rotfl:
 Cheers to the end of the month. I've written the count down in huge letters in my diary. Better make sure no one sees it who shouldn't.

6. I'm enjoying my 'new' books as well. Finished off a very fluffy chick lit this morning before getting up.
7. Got all my marking and prep for tomorrow done before leaving school. So easy when I only have between 15 and 22 books per lesson to mark. In September I'll have 30 per lesson, gulp!
8. Great chats with my teacher and mentor, they are so lovely
9. 12 days of student teaching left!!0 -

PK - Mmm duck wraps sound luvverly and RTC even better
Ampersand - I have missed your entertaining posts
Frith - I will sort Paris thing, remind me if i forget
Kittikins - I am a school fete old hand. My favourite one was when I got sozzled on the sangria and ended up being a backing singer for the band we had:rotfl: And I was chair of the PTA
Supersaver - a former colleague had a countdown clock as his computer screen saver for about 6 months before he retired :rotfl:

Pleasures for weekend

5. my beautiful, perfect shades of pink and white rosebush. I didn't even know a rosebush could be more than one colour.
And today
not many to be honest, i feel llike i have wasted the day. My 5:2 was hard this morning (which might be as a resutl of eating wheat and sugar over the weekend) but is better now. I can eat tomorrow,
Night allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Evening everyone :hello:
Really glad that dad of Frith is on the mend. :T
VJsmum - I think that, other than winning the lottery, the only way that I'll get back to a spa is to put away a pound or two each week!
Realised that I didn't post yesterday. Sorry! I'll try to make up for it tonight.
So, my pleasures:
1) DH is happier following his wobble last week. He's working hard to complete some exams which will make him more employable when he finds another job to apply for. (we hope!)
2) The student teacher in my class is just fantastic! Sadly it's his last week at school, but I've already told him to apply for a job at my school at the end of his course next year!
3) Showed my class this clip today as a stimulus for some writing. They loved it! It's only 2 mins 22 seconds, if you have time to watch it.
4) Pasta & sauce for supper tonight. Really need to do some batch cooking and re-fill the freezer but reports are taking priority this week.
5) Got to find a recipe for my next cake club. The theme is "B is for.........." So far, I've found this blueberry cake. Any other ideas? It's not until July, so I have a bit of time!

Evening all, or should that be morning all ! Have just been woken up by alarm going off in local school opposite my house. After 5 mins um'ing and ahh'ing I phoned the police only to be told that unless I can "see" something suspicious they will not come out ! Hope its not on all night :-((
Sorry been mia for so long. Managed to get online just now after 25 mins and 3 attempts... I am having to use ethernet cable and whole thing still freezing so lots of turning off and on again
Anyway, have just caught up with last few days posts
Frith sorry to hear about smaller sons op hopefully they will get something in place soon, and hope your dad is well again
Sparrer, sorry to hear about your DM and hoping care package in place soon. Such a worry when you live a long drive away. I must admit I have thought that at some point I may have to move back oop norf as DP's get older thankfully they are still fit and well at the moment
MHags phew passport finally arrived
Kittikins thats brilliant news WELL DONE !! (Sorry for shouting but smilies still not working for me)
Well lots has happened in last few weeks personal and health wise which I will not bore you with too much......
Recent pleasures
1. new to me car. Old one went to scrap yard in the sky very sudden and unexpected so had to rush out and get a bank loan. Good job i finally got my pay sorted this month after increasing my hours in March ! Just when I thought I may be able to have a social life, instead I have a new (second hand) car. However after 2 weeks on the buses its a godsend !
2. managed to get old hall stairs and landing carpet into (new to me) car and up to tip where lovely chap helped me get it onto skip
3. afternoon snooze ! Much needed as woken by foxes at 1.30am last night ... blimey they dont half make some racket when they are mating ;-)
4. neighbours at the rear of our row of terraces have paid for a digger to clear the alley way between our properties which had become a magnet for fly tippers and covered in brambles
5. DS has finally got the all clear on his vetting for police specials... yes he is still waiting ! .....now they are only waiting for a reference from his old school ... gulp ... fingers crossed as he had a lot of problems at school in his first few years and only managed to turn himself around with some counselling in his last 2 years so hope this is not going to ruin his chances. Hope police can see past some school problems 4 years ago he has grown up and changed a lot since then
6. have just had an email from M&S Energy saying that although I am on a fixed tarriff they are going to pass on the energy reductions and backdate it to March ... YAY!

Not my Best Day .... a sneak thief got in this morning after Dr C had left for work and before I got up. Law of Sod in full operation, the laptop was downstairs, iPhone charging in laptop, rucksack alongside with handbag in bottom. They may have taken a key too. Keys are in locks now just in case and due to be changed.
TG my work is online and so many documents are emailed - means I have copies to download.
Cards cancelled, insurance informed, police were stars, Find My Phone activated and phone blocked . Laptop password protected too.
The laptop drove me nuts as it randomly disconnected from the net (known issue) so may they have fun with THAT.
The gits didn't get the charger either.
It could have been worse. If I'd disturbed them... eek..
All this on the first day of the new contract for work, no new learners yet tho.
Son in law has loaned me a laptop which unfortunately won't let me download anything as virus protection is set too high. Downloads are major part of job at times!
Luckily my old netbook was upstairs in the bedroom and I'm using that.
Pleasures:
Friend of Dr C's who owns a local pub asked for shares of the crime on FB... 158 and counting.
They didn't trash the place.
Dr C's stuff all intact.
Son in law was brilliant.
Some crimes wipe businesses out. This is just a nuisance.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Right skinto is okay I just need tealady and broomstick to pop in and say hello!
Dark o'clock by the time I got home tonight...another week and we will have passed the shortest day and start eeking out the day again! Another cold and damp day here. Washing hung on clothes horses but does dry fairly quickly when we have the heating on in the evening.
Work was okay, we are trialling new girls this week , so today's applicant was nice. Home with bread, bread and more bread, lasagne , tiny quiches, half a bag of coco pops ( that had been used for Easter nests....fed up with seeing them in the store) and a couple of sandwiches.
Popped into old F& V shop and bought Satsumas, bananas (49c/kg...cheapest ever!) and a rock melon for 99c. So was pleased with my haul.
Please don't judge me.....needed something sweet when I came in....opened a tin of condensed milk and had a few spoonfuls ! Sorted out my craving!
That's about it again! Foot still sore but not as agonising as last week...so that's a pleasure I suppose!
Have a lovely day0 -
I was sent a lovely private message and cannot reply as that person has a full quota of messages
Here is the gist of things ...
Thank you!
Worse things happen at sea and even if nothing is recovered, replacements will eventually arrive. People have been so kind....
All losses reported of cards and loyalty cards and none had been used. Bus pass will be replaced free thanks to giving a crime number, library card for 65p.
If the worst comes to the worst and my contents insurance doesn't pay out, I can manage with another not quite so good phone and a laptop that will probably be better than the one I had, in that it won't disconnect from the Net at random!
I have the details of Victim Support, I think it may be good to talk about how I feel - and to think about how I feel - in a few days time. Not to family, as they are too near to things.
I have Royal Ascot to watch with half an eye later. Thoughts of that wonderful day a few years ago when Fareer, bred by Facebook friend Julie won the Britannia Stakes, although that race is on Thursday. That was exciting.
Thanks again, very much appreciated.

mcculloch that is shocking about your break in. We had that happen to us a couple of times, once all they took was a tenner! OH was getting up early to drive down south to a meeting and must have disturbed them. you are left with such a sense of violation and fear that someone has been in.
Another time , when I was heavily pregnant with DD2 , I heard some thing downstairs and discovered a guy trying to put an unwound coat hanger through my letter box to get the key ( so be careful with keys left in the lock) I absolutely belted down the stairs and saw him run off over the garden.....he turned round and gave me the fingers!! the cheek of him !
At least you didn't encounter them and hopefully karma will bite them on the bum!
Take care x0 -
BoP - our "Man Cave" is the top storey. (I have honorary membership, and house tech status.) It is kept tidier than their bedrooms, confirming they use the space only to sulk or sleep. Duster?! You are a fortunate man, sir! Love hearing you hand it out to the England team - best way to follow the shenanigans... Sea Bass sounds glorious. Herself rubbing the cream well in - sure she'll haul you back from the brink.
Giddynmg - Beating the Retreat & pulled pork sounds utterly wonderful! Lucky to see OH every week? Forces? A good comedian is worth the ticket price - you can relive the laughs time & again. May a good night's sleep be along soon! Pay rise & fincials sorted? A real OS Pleasure, along with a good book!
kittikins - hurrah new job progessing, underpants that flat falling through. School Fetes usually tiring but excellently done. From reading VJSmum & VickyA, marking becomes managable with practise & mild bribery.
Frith - admirably devious sis, hurrah medics being sensible, hoping Dad mending if not all better. Ambulance?! Eep. Phew - better, but... Fence replaced, wrongly but in your favour? (More photos!) Swimming "much more sensible" - hear, hear! Allotment has water supply? all now well watered & glorious grub! Teachers talking helpfully - oh the relief - and forward plans looking constructive. Dad on antibiotics and being tested for gallstones? Best of luck to all!
VJsmum - "pretty player"?! I'll stick to rugby, thanks. Chocolate cake may not be your friend, but a small breakout reminds you why you shut the gate... Love the sound of your rosebush!
Purple kitten - writing handover notes - bless you! Coconuts? <hearing familiar song> "embassingly long lay in"? well done both dejunking & rearranging things for Dad - happy moods can't be wrapped!
ampersand - start passport now seems sound advice! Purple kettle, eh? Cor, splendid score on the steak! Hurrah for surgeon's handiwork & may S thrive. Lemon balm is a wonderful almost-weed & Mr.Jardine is on my to read list. Well done getting your folks seats fettled - it's a grand gift to leave. How could you think the Alma didn't miss you? Glad wallet reunited, albeit by trombone route.
supersaver - you can always apply stickers if a chart seems dull? Toast & marmite - yum! DD sounds a sensible lass - hope the volunteering works well. School Fetes designed to drain wallets & well done prize-winning DD! Wghat happens is diary stays in diary &, should anyone be rude enough to ask, "blood sugar"?
mhagster - lyre bird? Glad you've seen a live one, not just the coins! OOD pickeled onion monter munch - well, only an *ignorant* Australian would think this was a high treat. A hearth full of candles - glorious! Soup - the Scottish comfort food - stop cooking these delicious chompables & just make buckets of the good stuff? You had to stay late to reprogram the till? Erf. Still, son back & daughter giggling - life could be worse. Passport made it, Huzzah! DD2 likes ironing? Brilliant! Neighbour has accepted carehome & you have a free pass at his lemon tree - wonderful! May new girls work well for you & your foot heal - condensed milk just a desperate need for more calcium?
marmite - to us, decluttering is just tidying up with a tip trip planned. Well done, just the same!
VickyA - boiled eggs are good feeding - folk can add salt, mayo, how-many-zeroes?-Scoville gloop to taste. Spa sounds fun as does quiet house thanks to beer festival! Which can only have done him good if he is now applying himself to exams. All power to your elbow with the reports.
sparrer - glad to hear your mum's flat spotless for agency visit, good for morale & reminds them of standards! Enjoy your free day!
Skint yet again - welcome back! Blinking putahs. All joy with new car, may coppers see sense with school (many of them will recall being a bit of a handful themselves) & hurrah M&S Energy backdating!
mcculloch - well done working with the police & getting as much as possible useless to the sneak thief. Hope banks prompt & helpful & hurrah landlord & son in law. So glad that, whilst terrifying, this is "just a nuisance". Victim Support a good idea no matter what insurance say or do.
OS Pleasures recently
"How many pitta breads have we got?" <grunt of ignorance & apathy> "Makes a difference to the kebab order" <high speed scutter of feet> (Assembling our own kebabs is more MS...)
Chatting Christmas with an enthusiast & just enjoying both memories & plans to lay down more of same. Wonky trees, we-made-those decorations - all happy stuff.
Cliff & "Summer Holiday" - it's a very deft farewell to Rik.
Blimey, what a moon! "Full" just doesn't do it justice.
Chortling with mum over learning to drive a Mondeo after her smaller car. Using Dad as target practice was well received (m'husband held the baby for me), as after all, if she goofs he can have a bed by Harrison Ford. (She's been treated by the same surgery team - we chortled that she now has some unusual bragging rights.)
Well Done Martin - OBE much deserved!
Watching eldest just roll into a shoulder stand. I then tried which was *utterly* ridiculous. Apparently youngest rolls with unforced elegance - certainly lanky eldest gangles & flails a bit & sometimes ends rolled up with knees by ears... [Youngest just went from horizontal to vertical to horizontal in a graceful swoop, pause, pose & unswoop.]
Buttercup type plants beaming up at me and the sunlight.
Eldest has made prefect! Now requires new uniform tops in which to *flaunt* rank...
Beautiful morning - so I go shut myself in an office. Go figure!
Hugely enjoying teaching/demonstrating what I do to a newbie who has been woefully neglected. She's hanging onto her sanity so far.
Big hugs to all who need them, punctual passports likewise & enjoy the Yellow Stuff!
