Glad to hear your dad is much improved, hoping he'll be back at 100% by morning x
I wouldn't worry too much about the passport name issue - so long as your ticket and passport have the same name on them, it will be fine. And, speaking as a fellow lone parent who had a different surname to her child on her passport for about 5 years, it was fine for DD and I to travel all over the place.0 -
Ah, my passport has my married name on so I will be the same as sons temporarily! I have explained it to the travel agent so I shall be Mrs J for 3 days.
The passport office was on the news as the wait is so long and neighbour had to drive to Newport to get hers - it finally turned up the day before her sister's wedding (in France)!0 -
Early start:
1. Found the John Arlott/ Mike Brearley reference on this lovely site[another one bookmarked]:
http://theoldbatsman.blogspot.co.uk/2011/12/ceaseless-time.html
-no longer on beeb, but I'm sure it's findable somewhere.
Crikey - it was 1984; & had but 35 earth years to her name!
2. St Martin of Lewis, OBE.
3. Zandra Rhodes is Damed.
4. &-as-Gatland also OBE'd, but not as mis-spelt 'Gaitland' on beeb website:eek:. That's a penalty try to moi as Queen cannot be sin binned, altho' beeb certainly has been.
5. These occasions give me quick Thanksgiving that I have made parents' enzed memorial seats good and tidy and protected again. Quick look at pics, still in the 'Last week I was still there' mode.

Off to the Alma, with a good heads-up here:

There's a nice Dan Carter piece, which sits in the Jonny-like canon well.
-and Murray Mexted is saying on R4 as we speak, 'Contrary to everyone else in the country, I'm saying New Zealand by 3...and I did say, on air last week, New Zealand by 5.' He could be The Man to follow. &'ll be in shreds if so, come 10h.
On verra. Glorious weekends to all.

Briefly as it's bedtime!
We delivered our son and his girlfriend to the faraway campsite they are staying at overnight ( cold, wet and middle of nowhere! ) , so we had a nice drive up and back. We had lots of rain, heavy clouds, lots of thick fog and blooming chilly!
We saw kangaroos, 2 lyre birds ( the first time I've seen them, they are the national bird and on the back of a 5c coin) , loads of kookaburras at the campsite, a dead wombat, lots of llamas and horses.
Stopped at a little town which should have been nicer than it actually was. Went into one shop , a lolly shop, or sweet shop as we would call it, ooh they had UK stuff....er, between 2-6 months out of date, I told the assistant and she said, yeah, but the British are quite happy to eat it out of date, it always comes in with a really short shelf life, they are fine. Sorry love, I ain't paying over the odds for out of date stock! £1.70 for a packet of pickled onion monster munch made last year?
Now I know BB dates are a guideline but customers should be informed of these and they should be priced accordingly....rant over!
We then drove on to one of our favourite country towns, Healsville and had lunch then homeward bound. We had no electricty , supposedly between 8.30-3.30. It was still on when we left at 9am and didn't come back on until almost 5pm. House was very chilly and we lit the 'fire' ....my hearth is filled with candles.
Before we went out this morning I made 4 quiches, as I had egg yolks to use up after making meringues. Some mini banana loaves in tiny loaf tins and then some banana buns. Also made spicy pumpkin soup with my 99c pumpkin I bought yesterday. Son took 2 flasks of soup and the banana buns and then a portion of soup is in the freezer. Almost stocked up for going away, I will make some more soups for them and they shall not starve I'm sure!
We just bought milk today as enough food in cupboards and fridge to do.
Have a lovely Saturday.0 -
Thanks for the welcome back everyone!
I'm glad to see that a few of you are also marmite fans.:)
Let me see.For yesterday:

frith I hope that your Dad's ok.
It's a lovely day here and not too hot for a change.
PS mhagstar glad to see that you're still making banana loaf.I lost your recipe-any chance of sharing it again?Thanks.0 -
Tipppeee. BoPsie has offered tea out, and the Mill does cheapo food before 6. Dilemma. Hic.
Kick off is 11 pm. Thinks, scratches hair, on head.
I nose, you lots would love me to go out, then play BoPsie at Scrabble. Well I tell you what, I am feeling a Man Cave moment.0 -
Vicky I want cake for breakfast , having just had a look at your link!
Quick question....only 11 cakes but 16 people? Do you take it in turns to bake ?
We had 5 guests at this last meeting, hence 11 cakes but 16 people! Having said that, Deborah (custard stealer from GBBO 2013) brought 2 cakes...
My pleasures for the last couple of days:
1) Spa day with a friend. She's been having a really tough time at work, so it was nice to chill.
2) Boiled eggs for supper this evening! Rocking on a Saturday night!
3) My class are in the local paper, following our visit to see the ospreys. All very exciting! They were beside themselves when I showed them on Friday.
4) DH is at a beer festival, which means it's peace and quiet here!
5) Early night, due to DH being away. Might sleep in a starfish style!
