Sorry to hear that, McC. :-( Glad you are getting things sorted out OK.

Here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not a bad sleep despite hayfever.

    2) Smaller son had a good day at school.

    3) Spent an hour on the allotment putting sweet pepper plants in growbags and watering everything.

    4) Sorted out the Paris trip properly! All booked now including insurance!

    5) Went to see dad who is getting better. A nice man was walking across their fields assessing the states of the high voltage electricity lines so he stopped to have a cup of tea. Apparently, our map (not just parents' land but the valley generally) is the most overgrown he has ever assessed and it would take about 3 weeks with the power off to cut/trim every tree but he can't legally keep the electricity off for that long.

    6) Transferred some money into my ISA bathroom fund.

    7) Sped round the charity shops and got a T shirt.

    8) Must start some healthy eating as I haven't bothered in weeks. Weighed myself on the Wii just now and I've lost a 1lb! Just the 2 stones to go, then...

    9) Looking forward to Holby City later. Hope it is not affected by football.

I'm so sorry to hear your news mcculloch. There are some barstewards in the world but fortunately few and far between. Just sorry you had to encounter one but thank goodness you're in one piece.

Not such a good day here either, didn't get my planned day off as DB phoned with the news that DM has been taken to hospital. Her GP visited this morning, found her extremely confused, dizzy and incoherent so drove DM to hospital herself, which is the typically kind care she has always taken of DM

Just got back to hear that DS's beautiful dog has inoperable cancer and has been put on strong painkillers until Thursday, so they have time to say goodbye to him before he's pts.
Sadly DS and his OH have separated so I don't know if or when I'll see the children (who are hers from a previous relationship but have been my 'grandchildren' for the past 8 years) again.

Wishing everyone a happier time x

    Evening All!

Kittikins - Stationery is great isn't it!? We got a new 'Things To Do Today' book at work and I love it.

VJsmum - Yum to pancakes and cake. I saw a bit of Jersey Boys at West End Live last year, it looks very good.

mcculloch - That is so awful. People can be the worst. Glad you are ok though and it wasn't worse.

DforV - OH is indeed forces and his camp is a few hours away. I best the newbie is very grateful for your help, it's hard if you just get left to it without the training to get on.

Sparrer - Sorry to hear you are having a bad time. I do hope you can still be in the kids lifes. 8 years is a long time and it'd be hard on them as well as you.

    My pleasures for the day:

1 - Getting up. My night was very disturbed so I was glad just to get up and get on with the day.

2 - Got some things done today at work that have been on the list for a while.

3 - Lots of family texts today. They are my world.

4 - Putting off chores as I have tomorrow off so can get things done then.

5 - Sitting down with a cuppa and a bit of chocolate.

SSaver: J I think it was your talk of the Girl called Jack book that tipped me over the edge to just order it. 9 days 9 days 9 days.
McC: Jeeez so many emotions spring to mind, grateful you are doing alright, victim support when you feel ready sounds like a very good idea.
Sparrer:Sorry to read of concerning times.
    1. 8 days to go, I’m smiling as the end is due I am looking forward to it, not so looking forward having to spend 2 hours “handing over” to Mr confrontational Numpty.
    2. DH keeping me strong when I had the jitters at lunchtime.
    3. Dinner I tried to be healthy it was a chicken, brown rice, onion and garlic one pot “thing” it was ok but my stomach is saying food and I’m trying to be good, the manky looking carrot doesn’t cut it.
    4. DfV’s pleasures, the first mention of Christmas!!!

Read yesterday's, but didn't post, but &-y thoughts were certainly flying again to mcculloch and sparrer.
It was Day 2 of Car Won't Go and dkw. Infuriating. Key in ignition - zilch. Not even a whirrr. Nothing was left on - can't be, alarms protest. Nothing would go on - not a light, a dial, a radio, BUT sudden belts of clicking come from somewhere glovebox-y and some dials suddenly activate then stick. There has been a faffing about with the door locks suddenly going on and off rptdly for no reason, even when I'm in front garden.
So, just had a cba and turned back on Monday, but hier had to continue into town via Buspass.
Will have to seek jump-start help. Car was fine all over w/e.

    1. Over one week on, still nothing from Bank re: missing revolving door £500, hence bus>town. There's been total rooster-rocket mess. Much apology. Young woman mgr is impressive, genuine, but & is judicious, courteous, cross: a fair match therefore in nicest possible way. But result is the main thing and Bank is v.v. hands-up and generous. Not only restoration but matching £plus more, which is 4-figs handsome. Over to N&P to explain and show things; back to Bank[fortunately just across road]with N&P same, ensuring & has no duff marks on her school report.
    ALL FIXED at last.

    2. Must sort front jungle, but it's the usual - atm - slightly rainy grey cloudy start, esp. after & started serious soak-in watering at rhubarb end, back down through framboises y'day.

    3. Also had Library books to rtn, inc. one with 30-odd pages to go. Thought I'd polish these off easily, but so long did no.1 take, that I was kicked out of Library at their last orders, still with 12 pps to go. Annoyingly, this was the biggest and luggiest of the 3 and there was an hr's wait for last village bus of day. But I had The Big Issue, bought from shy lass outside Bank. Thriving, coping, surviving, existing all have the same rungs; it's only ever a matter of scale and degree. She was a sweet, nervous lass, with a brave smile, and opened up as we chatted. Her boyfriend was over the road and 'down there' she indicated. 'Good thinking' I observed and thought again about the number of good willing young people I've met in 4 countries in the last fortnight, all struggling variously, but doing their darnedest.

    4. We are lucky, however we are. Just being able to do this is a privilege, not universal.

    5. Drawing a cunning plan veil over 38-7, & would gladly return to library book no. 4

if many other things, such as CAR weren't pressing. Might anyway, but will be - as ever - torn/in torment/turbulent, 'cos of instant need to be back there and sadness that author Walker can't turn them out as fast as & consumes them. Ditto Martin O'Brien with Jacquot.

How are the strawbs pk - any cropping yet? [apologies if this is covered in earlier pages, but I'm still on p681.]

mcculloch - I'd tweet and fb everything you can about your break-in. There will be talk. There could well be panicked dumping. The manner and timing of break-in so strongly suggests local awareness/watchfulness. Strong hugs on full headwind pedal power from moi, all day long:-)

Hi, Wednesday evening here, not long in from a busy day at work.
Trial person ....good at coffee making but not much personality shining through..... One staff member having a mini strop so had to deal with that and talk all that through and then lots of customers! Sigh....one more day to go!

Foot in agony...think it's day 4 on feet all day! Popped into physio to collect DD1 from her physio class and bumped into podiatrist on his way home ...so I had a free consult in the carpark!

Bought a beautiful gift for my friends new granddaughter . It was in the most beautiful baby shop near work and it was reduced.

Bought a pair of red shoes for me! In the sale. I saw them yesterday when I was banking for work so when I went to bank today I took my purse and popped in! Half price, leather, wide enough and hopefully comfy enough.

Home with savoury muffins and some scones from work.

I literally just made the train home! I had to run in a lurching, limping fashion as it as coming into the station. Anyone looking at me would have wondered what on earth I was doing!

DD2 is stressy! First day of show tomorrow so we have this for next week! She will grumpier as the week goes on and will hopefully sleep for the flight home!

My son fainted today! Big woose! He had his medical for visa ( because he now has a passport! ) and was getting his blood pressure taken! He hit himself on the way down to the floor but is okay!
