My 5 for today are
Helping my friend do her paperwork
A sneeky afternoon nap
Making brownies
A hug on the sofa with my dd. Is a rare thing now she is 16
watching my family get excited as England are playing in the world cup tonight0 -
1. Sunshine
2. My literacy lessons have steadily improved through the week, phew! (Apparently I'm too self-critical, but.....)
3. We went back to the lovely rec this afternoon with the class to for a 'golf' lesson with a very, unintentionally, funny instructor.
4. I was terse and firm with the slimy snakes who call themselves estate agents....they are rushing me to make a decision on proceeding with the flat. I have asked my solicitor to look into something for me and, having waited very patiently for months before getting any info from the other side, am not going to be bullied! Harrumph!!
5. 'My' book and toy stall at DD's school fete raised over £100
6. I went up to the uni library and took out more fabulous books.
7. I popped in to see my lovely tutor and had a good chat.
8. Had a good natter with my mummykins tonight.0 -
Dd is back. Fab holibags with no wifi yay so no way work could contact me
Havent caught up on all the goss but thought i'd update. The hol wasnt very mse so will need to pull belt back in, but was amazing. So the few mse bits were...
1) staying in lesser starred hotel than others with mum. No fridge but amazed mum by keepign a carton of milk fresh for 3 days in spanish heat by wrapping wet flannel round carton (evaporation works much better than just leaving in cold water) we never travel anywhere without kettle, adaptor and teabags, but since being stopped last year at schipol as you may recall for 'dodgy white powder' in tupperware no longer take powdered milk!
2) using other bods' bar for happy hour
3) tourist shopping with eyes, not purse
4) getting money out before at m&s (though will investgate cards martin mentions)
5) buying pressies of choccie at spanish supermarket - went down very well
And the hols overall? Alambra fab, gaudix extraordinary, cordaba amazing, mountain trip stunning, arabic baths restful, and laughs with 5 like-minded single women of more mature ages pricelessMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1. Left home at 7am, got shopping for DM and petrol, got to Maidenhead to DB just in time for breakfast
2. DB and I visited DMin hospital. They've now found the crystal glass she packed, as she said she's not drinking out of plastic cups
3. Hospital social worker came to chat, will definitely put in a full care package for DM's return home although that isn't an option yet
4. Back to DB's house, saw my niece and two great nieces
5. Lovely neighbour let the muttley out and fed him while I was at a standstill on the M4
6. Bed is calling zzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sweet dreams:)

I'm going to post my pleasures earlier than usual, think I have 5 of them.
Well both England and Australia are out the World Cupso won't have to listen to either going on and on!
Was glad to see morning , dreadful nights sleep. Sore foot, wild outside , someone sending me a text at very late o'clock.
Have a reasonably tidy house, thanks to some help from my girls who have a day off school .
Poor DD2 , she takes everything to heart and is really such a drama queen. Matinee went well, evening performance her microphone went off in one scene. Someone who she doesn't like was staring at her from the audience and was talking about her.....blah ,blah! Hugs a plenty given.
DD1 and I went to our local shops, took the car...all 500 yards but my foot is so sore and I knew I would struggle with carrying all we had to buy.
First stop salvos, got a book from an author I like, may have read it but will read it again. Brand new still with tags on jeans.
Then old veg shop where I got so much for my money today. $1 tub that had apples, pears, orange, cucumber, parsnip, kiwi fruit. Then a pumpkin , rock melon, pineapple all for $1 each. Bag of garlic for $1.50 and bag of red onions for 99c.
Popped up to new shop and got a pepper and a tub of olives ( bleurgh!)
Then bakers shop for my Friday sausage roll and a cake for the girls.
Then DD's shop for quite a few things. Got staff discount which helped.
Having friends over for dinner tonight , think I'm being a tad ambitious and not sure who I'm trying to impress. I've made a chicken curry in slow cooker. To make a lamb, pumpkin and chickpea curry on stove nearer the time, everything is prepped ...er apart from the chick peas which I was sure I had. Have made a lemon cheesecake with lemons from next doors tree and the almost full tin of condensed milk I opened the other day...honest I only had a couple of teaspoons. Have made very pretty tiny meringues. All beautifully piped and they are cooling in the oven just now. Made some dips and still to make bread. Will make soda bread and naan bread.
I put washing out in the line today as although cold was a good wind so that's dried and hidden in the laundry room out of sight!
Picked some pretty flowers from my garden , have written my welcome blackboard at the front door and filled the candle holders with tea lights which will be lit nearer the time.
Still to go back out with DD to physio so will get chickpeas!
Have a fabulous Friday....next one I will be going home0 -

& knew and chose not to intrude on private grief, bop.
Also, do I see a change in top tea boy for your Forest Green chaps?
You may have solace demain, but not if I and Malakai[watch this young man -

] and Kieran have anything to do with it.
1. CAR, elle marche! Out I went again hier, with Mr Hayne. Read about everything to do with 'When Your Car Won't Start'. Remembered how to lift bonnet before too long. Anyone looking under bonnet can passably appear competent. So it was for &. Twiddled things. Back in car. Key in. Turned. STARTED)))))))))))))))))dkw, and has been fine ever since. I am so relieved.
2. Next one up - &'s thumb, so just back from Surgery with a too-long-for-scrabble pyogenic granuloma, that rocketed up 2 days ago. Constant throb - a seed of flesh that burst up alongside nail, breaking through flesh, v. sore and hurtier still when bumped or caught on sthg[constantly]. Dr has painted silver nitrate on+antibiotics for a week. Certainly via de-jungling, thinks Dr H. Grateful again for village surgery, our GP's and gladly signed the petition which fears for the future of General Practice under this gumment's lunatic privatisation-creep myopia....and we are leafy pastoral rural, not inner city crumbling, where it is even worse.
3. Em from France - 'when are you coming?' Had actually been looking at quick Bastille Day flit now banking is restored to decent order. On verra. Today's dicton:

No more pluie for me merci.
4. 3rd test brekkie arranged in The Alma for tomorrow.

Various passengers likely. May be helping recent long-hauler to move...again. but this mustn't clash with........
5. 2 more Church fêtes demain.
And this is 6....opening words from new library book: 'The night emitted a faint sound, or perhaps it was a smell, imperceptibly wafting out of the darkness, something soothing like the smell of boats and wet jetty planks........' They speak to me.
7. Really appreciated w8rs cappuccino hier and the bargain Burgen bread. Re-stocked sugar, flour, butter, nanas. That's done for a while. Free Torygraph and w8rs mag with a v.g. interesting insert, all-found 5*£149 week in Turkey on offer. But SR Supp would double that.

Morning
Quick five for yesterday as I am supposed to be packing
1 drive to work which meant not so much rushing round in the morning
2 excellent revision session. One student who only achieved 3% in the exam, after having a question explained in detail said "well that's doable" :T. Innit though.
3 5:2 easy peasy today until bedtime. My fragrant chicken, spinach and tomato curry was to die for. Served with cauliflower rice
Cos I am nice, you can have the recipe
Light spray oil - a few squirts
2 onions chopped
2 garlic cloves crushed
200g carrots diced
200g chicken breast diced
Tsp ground ginger
Tablespoon garam masala
4 cardamom pods crushed
60g red lentils
3/4 pint water
Tin tomatoes
120g spinach
120 g cauliflower in small florets
Fresh coriander to garnish if you have some
Heat a pan and spray the light low cal oil
Gently cook onion garlic and carrots
When soft, add in chicken and spices and stir to seal the chicken
Add lentils and water, bring to boil and simmer for fifteen mins
Add in everything else and simmer for 20 mins, stirring frequently
Serve with 120g cauliflower rice
Recipe is for four, cauli rice is for one. 210 calls all in.
