  • A busier day than expected here -

    1. My largest border weeded. Each year, I'm amazed and grateful that I can still dig the garden over.
    2. Lunch was soup made with wrinkly veg from the bottom of the fridge, and a gluten free ham sandwich.
    3. A couple of friends over for coffee and cake late this afternoon. Much cheaper than going out.
    4. Went to see my brother's new house and it's lovely.
    5. Found a chocolate raisin in my bag. Yum.

Just in from long day at work. Closing shift done in time tonight! Didn't have to wait too long for a train, one just pulled away as I was almost at station. Quite happy to wait 6 minutes rather than be stuck in traffic in rush hour.

High praise indeed today from interesting staff dynamic person! that will be the first in 5 weeks!

A lovely bacon butty for my lunch :)

Making spag Bol for dinner....looks delicious. Just waiting on my boys getting in from work....they've just arrived! Off for my dinner...starving tonight :)

Rain today so good for the garden and as I was at work I didn't get wet :)

    Have a lovely day :)

First - Anniversary Congratulations sparrer. I won't overly apologise for lates, as every day is a bonus to celebrate, even when reporting downsides. That's an OS Pleasure here, shared/halved among friends. Any meds. are welcome guests if they pull their weight.

    1. Fence panels collected, loaded in hail downpours, trailered back.
Lugged them out back in high winds last night. Bit of a battle. Green stuff next, 2 coats.

    2. Finished most enjoyable, brilliantly written academia tecfic by Janet Neel and googled her. Quickly reserved another online at Library, something I really appreciate. Very accomplished woman, interesting life:

Started this from Tom Fort, on the A303. Loving it already:

    3. More or less forgot about auction yesterday, meaning nsd, fence panels having been paid on Discount Day last week. Just had too much else on.

    4. Particular comms done, leading to good phone call and other with someone whose group will be in a strong framework set-up.

    5. As I finished fence panel move in near dark, saw one giant bunny of neighbour lolloping about. ???shouldn't be??? Went in his back garden and she came right up to me with little wuffly greetings. Didn't mind in the least my picking her up, stayed calm and chatty. So soft, so warm. Knocked on back door. No answer - will go and check again after this. Bad weather brings on massive mobility problems for neighbour[a working life in the racing saddle]and sleep, if/when/as it comes, is paramount. I collect his huge prescription bag quite often. In the end, I checked through all the bunny accommodation - nothing obvious amiss - and put her in an empty upper storey for the night, with a few carrots and water.

    Frith - how's son's finger?
ccp - isis and raffles at scrabble, with pub quiz return match?
vjm - glad son and whistle remain attached. Are your local daffs only just starting? There's lots about here - wild. I see them on my meanderings.
dd - hugs for doing so well as you are with your 14 projects. It's time for the marmalade, Sevilles in now, before the Caymans:-)
kiwiblue - aaah, crays! Yumyumyum. I'll be driving my rent-a-dent down through Hamilton and Taupo. Set off 2 months today.
pk - the raspberry cane fairy can tiptoe by when next crossing Channel. OK if so?
    ###
chicken - this is a General Alert. Lots of murmurings already. Are you alright? DM? Little terrier?[you'd had a scare when you last posted. Apologies if this is nosy]
    ###
Just fiddled about with putah:Thanks button now working, all caught up.
    ###
I probably shouldn't be posting this.
My way of closing putah means that I see new Thread titles in a column as I go.

One from Shushannah, another from CATS...blessings need counting, that's all.

    Hello

Sparrer - Congratulations on your anniversary, you are truly inspirational.

Been a week of very mixed pleasures been up and down like a yo-yo.
My mum's cousin died this week, while we knew he was ill it was still quite sudden if that makes sense.

It is now about 99% certain that I will be made redundant at some pint yet to be decided this year. It is not just the money though as I have worked for the same company for over 12 years and will really miss working here :(

Enough of the wallowing though as there have been lots of lovely pleasures and suprises as well

1 - not enough numbers. OH's parents are going to pay off the balance of our mortgage for us. While we don't have a huge amount left to pay it is still a very generous gift of both money and peace of mind. They want to do it as they inherited recently and would rather see us settled now while they can appreciate seeing the benefits. Lovely, lovely people, feel very blessed.
    2. Some lovely times with DD over half term. Spa day and afternoon tea which was just blissful and really enjoyed each others company. Also had a day out to a local production of Cats and Chinese for lunch, MIL came with us for this one. All the questions she was asking now make sense. Sneaky lady
    3. Letter from insurance company about a long forgotten Stocks and Shares ISA I had (so long forgotten can't even remember taking it out over 20 years ago). Anyway there is just over £600 winging its way into my account from it :D
    4. Watching the dog that lives across a narrow road from us smiling at me through the blinds of the upstairs window. Did make me smile
    5. Thinking of LFS as a song came on the radio... Sky Rockets tonight ....., DD wondered why I was laughing.

As you can see I have had some amazing pleasures this week but just feel I can't fully appreciate them at the moment which makes me feel very ungrateful as know there are people with worse things happening in their lives. Need to give myself a good kick up the bum and get on with it.

    Hugs to all
  • No comment. Except I was either at Stanmore Park or Cosford at the time. If I repeat the words here, I would be banned. Except to say, the bears would have feasted in the Pigs Bar.

Now were was I. Oh, got clattered last eve. DD, bye! Be careful not to get dizzy.

5 Got clattered last night, no already said that. But it is an occupational hazard.

4 Got the process at the salt mine sorted, now the barking dogs have had they meat, their tails are wagging. Feel the breze

3 Was on a beer call 28 years ago today, that be more than 9 some have mentioned, and clapped eyes on BoPsie for the first time. If I recall, I forgat my glasses that evening and look at me now!

2 Nite we and BoPsie will share a bottle of wobbleade together.

1 How long has it lasted

Thank you very much for all your messages. It doesn't seem that long that I could have drunk everyone of you under the table in turn and thought I could safely drive home afterwards. It's nothing to be proud of, what a waste of holidays, treats for the DC and DGC, etc., and garden time! But those days are over TG and I'm fit and well and able to enjoy life odaat. I love this life!
Kiwiblue you might expect another visitor next Feb, I'm going to visit some friends in Rotorua which I think is within travelling distance of you? It's a way off yet so lots of saving to do first :)
Frith 'essentially normal'? Oh dear that does worry me!;) But pleased the tests were clear. Enjoy the greenhouse, you're certainly moving along, all in time for the main growing season
BoP many congratulations on the anniversary of your meeting Mrs B :D

    1. Oh, it has to be the yellow stuff today, all day!:j
    2. Downstairs windows cleaned, nets washed and line dried (I don't iron them ;))
    3. Hemmed the new door curtain - in fact I cheated and used iron-on web on both the curtain and the lining. How easy it was
    4. First proper salad of the year with hb egg. I love salad days
    5. Filing and shredding done. No piles of paper any more. For now!
    6. The rhubarb is coming on apace, lots of puds planned :)

Have a good rest of the evening :)

    Big hugs Tealady xx

    1. Got through my first observed lesson well - received some really useful, constructive feedback which I wrote down to hopefully make sure I use going forward :)

    2. The cherubs just more cherubic today - they groaned at the end of my lesson as they said they wanted to carry on with English :) (They are really going to be earning their end of placement treats at this rate!!)

    3. The boy of the Paddington Bear Stare came out with a great comment in the lesson....he does pay attention sometimes!

    4. Observed a fabulous drama/English lesson this morning and came away with lots of ideas :)

    5. I received a cute giraffe puppet I ordered from bay of eeee, might try and spice up my phonics lesson with the Year 1s tomorrow with it!

    Good evening everyone :hello:

All these people popping to New Zealand - any room for a small one? DH and I went a few years ago and loved it. I'm still trying to convince him we need to move there!!! :D

    So, my pleasures for today:

    1) Another NSD! :j That's two in a row. I'm afraid I'll have to get petrol tomorrow though - need to get to work somehow. :o

    2) New Lakeland catalogue has popped through the door. This is lethal... ;)

    3) Just watched this clip from Ant & Dec. If you need a feel good "boost" in 4 mins, then this is something you need to watch. Love it!

    4) Finished my book for tomorrow night's book club! Phew, it was a close run thing.

    5) Managed to get a few things ticked off my "to do" list! :j

    Night all.
