bop - salt mine detour via nearest Hotel Chocolat, where these are down to 74p, supposed to be £1.74, which is half-price, but they can't over-ride it, said dear boy.
    Good-o. They're exquises:[even dearer here] http://www.hotelchocolat.com/uk/shop/collections/prices/chocolate-offers/rum-chocolate-truffles
More than one pack has been acquired...oh yes, I must have bought them, definitely, for NZ.
Keep losing the glasses bop&Lady bopsie - scrabble gloriously through another 28 years. Wobbleades duly raised.

    1. Major breakthrough on something. Hooray!

    2. Prayer brekkie was good. Went in rain, returned in yellow thing, so straight on with

    3. fence panel painting. 1st coats done while marmalade chunters slowly on, for a good 2 hrs 1st stage. Lovely smell drifting out.

    4. Down comes the rain again. Up blows the wind. Panel just finished in time. More or less sheltered.

    5. In goes the sugar, low heat, slow stir till un-grainy, then bit of fierce bop breath for a 22min rolling rant, during which LEAVE IT ALONE. Time to bung hot-wash jars in oven. Usual tests. Saucer wrinkles. Remove from heat. Leave 10 mins. Stir. & tried canny thing - scum skimmed off with bottle brush. Worked brilliantly. 16 golden jars, peel even throughout.

    6. 2nd coat painting. Half done. More rain. Enough. Put lid firmly on tin, unlike this morning. Gave it a nice shake, off flew lid. Green paint on green plants[strawbs, rainbow chard, jacob's ladder, weeds] reasonably camouflaged, about a pint. Goes quite far.

    7. Remaining 2kg of sevilles will be Ginger Marmalade, part done. Only the peel to chop now, while Rob wangles his divorce....hmm, Helen's come into loadsa, thanks to Peggy. tumti-tumti-tumti-tum......et-cet-er-RAAAAAAAH!

    8. Phone msg from France - barely decipherable - no comms for over a mth. I could just about hear, from storms, floods, everything down, BUT, little Lara Melissa is safely born. Can now work her name onto the crochet bibs.

    9. Village mag delivered by fine new man, as I slopped green paint. 85 years younger than recently mentioned retiree. 'I'm nine and if it's not me, it might be my sister, or my Mum'. More chat. For young fellas like these we should be good stewards of a beautiful planet. 'Could do better' is pushing it atm.

    10. Yup, more rhubarb burgeoning here.

    11. This is pure:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: joy - zillion cheers for DEPUTY DISTRICT JUDGE MELVILLE-SHREEVE

I'm off to read the Gosnold transcripts now.

Some gentle, healing strokes for Isis would be much appreciated, if I may: she's been a bit off-colour for the past day or so (part of the reason I was so anxious yesterday) but, when I got home from work this evening, it was obvious things really weren't right. One vet trip later, all is hopefully now well, although I have been warned not to expect any obvious improvement until tomorrow morning at the earliest. (It's not the same illness as last time, but it is something pretty unsavoury so I won't go into any detail!)

    1) My nice, kindly vet, who saw Isis with 20 minutes' notice at the end of his working day, and brushed off my thanks with the comment "I would never leave an animal in discomfort if I could possibly avoid it". :T

    2) Caught and boxed Isis with minimal damage (to me, that is - Isis is of course entirely undamaged!).

    3) Didn't have the time or energy to cook dinner tonight, but a portion of sausage and veg casserole from the freezer filled a hole nicely.

    4) Not in chronological order - a very dramatic hail storm this afternoon, which turned the office car park entirely white for 10 minutes or so.

    5) Pub quiz this evening, so Isis can recover in peace and I can recover with cider!
Back after a very long break!

    1. I spiced up my phonics lesson this morning by taking in a toy kitten, aka 'Phonics Kitty' to help me teach. She was a hit! :)

    2. My English lesson today went really well, annoyingly, it was better than yesterday's that has been marked 'working at' (with some, but not enough for my liking, 'goods' I could quibble at them, but it won't get me anywhere.....). Anyway, I'm loving teaching and am hoping that I will improve to be able to pass the placement (and then the course!) But I am starting to feel a bit stressy...eeek.

    3. NSD

    4. Left school amazingly early this afternoon, 4pm!!:) There was no real need to stick around as I'm only teaching one lesson tomorrow....darn it, I forgot to do my marking from yesterday. Oh well, looks like I'll be at school early in the morning to do it before the cherubs come in then! It'll have been worth it for a nice early evening :)

    5. Ticked a few more boxes on my placement to do list. Phew!

Get well soon CCP's Isis x

Ampersand: that’s very motivated with the fence panels and marmalade making. Raspberry's sound perfect :)
CCP: Hugs, I am about to try some passiflora, by the way reading your signature has reminded me to ponder over to the compers thread occassionally.
Will it snow tomorrow, sorry to any anti snow people but yiiiipppeee I hope so.:j
    1. I packed up and got home at a decent time as I came over feeling very unwell, it’s sort of passed but feeling a bit headachy, nauseous, faced with the prospect of cooking DH has deemed it pizza delivery night.:rotfl::rotfl:predictable.
    2. I wrote the last of my stroppy letters and it’s nice to have it done and sent, (it’s chasing for our accident payment, for an accident that wasn’t our fault 6 months ago now!)
    3. The pilates and diet must be doing something slowly there is “trouser room” almost time for a belt now, don’t get me wrong still loads to do but nice to feel the body changing.
    4. Planning on doing some extensive online job searching for something short and temporary later.;)
    5. Booked in for our first steam fair over in Norfolk in a couple of months.:)
    6. Downloaded a couple of books on offer, the book thief, recommended once by Ampersand? I think, and another called Perfect from the author of the Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold fry, I’m looking forward to them. I’ve just finished a 1400 pager on the kindle which was also an engrossing read one of the Diana Gambalon Outlander series.
    7. Grinning looking at my hobby to do list which is learn how to knit, and learn how to print off decent photo’s to make an animal collage of all our animals past and present for a blank white wall at the top of the stairs.:o
  • 1. Made myself some more 'muesli' which is actually dried fruit and nuts, seeds etc and no cereal of any kind. I love gluten free muesli but it's expensive and often loaded with vegetable fat and honey, so I feel I've saved calories if not money.
    2. Had a leek and walnut burger today in a vegetarian cafe. Lovely! I'm not a veggie but I do like trying new things.
    3. Bought a nice jumper and my favourite brand of jeans in a local charity shop for £8.
    4. Started the plum jam I made last autumn when a neighbour brought a carrier bag of plums round from his tree.
    5. Used the emergency £20 note in my handbag to pay the hairdresser, saving a trip up to the cashpoint and back. I didn't want to leave owing money! Now, of course, I have to remember to replace it.

Enjoy the last of the evening.

CCP warm hugs to you and tickles under the chin for Isis, hoping you're both going to sleep well tonight and feel much better in the morning
PK good luck with the photographs and collage. It will be lovely to have a constant reminder of your pets. I don't have a decent enough printer (very basic) to get good photo's so have to ask DD who has a bells and whistles one.
ampersand I'm so sorry about the paint pot lid incident, it must have been horrid to see it all over your plants, even if it was colour co-ordinated!
VJsmum your No 1 did make me chuckle, it's the sort of thing we'd all do ;)
DfV sunshine, buds and birds, sounds just lovely
mhags am pleased you have the hours to cover the school fees and I know how difficult it is to reach a balance but please pace yourself.

    1. Got a line of washing dry in the strong breeze before the first shower of the day
    2. With respect PK I hope the snow falls for you but not here, the garden is looking lovely with lots of flowers, shrubs and trees in bud :)
    3. Have got up to 10 well spaced out 3 min sessions, @ 2.5km, a day on the treadmill without falling over. It works out at 300 calories a day, hoping to increase it slowly
    4. At the fellowship meeting last night I was given a chocolate cake, cards and flowers. I need to oil the treadmill!
    5. Nice natter with DS, his OH and their teenager son on the phone, arrangements made to have dinner with them when I go to Lancs in a few weeks time

    Sweet dreams :)

    Evening everyone :hello:

DundeeDoll - I quite enjoyed the book. It was called The Report and was a novel based on a real event during World War II.
VJsmum - DH and I went to see The Jersey Boys a few years ago and it was AMAZING. I really want to go again and again.
DigForVictory - I get paid on 24th of each month. Great, but sometimes not so great as it *almost* gives me a false sense of security! :o
Kittikins - you are doing SO well! As my HT said this morning, the training year(s) and the NQT year are two of the hardest in teaching BUT we get there in the end. It's when teachers (generally MUCH older, although I know some of my peers that this applies to) think they don't need to improve that things start to fall down.

    Anyway, my pleasures for today:

    1) Book club! Discussed our previous book, The Report and picked up the next one called May We Be Forgiven.

    2) Been looking at timetables and schedules with my class in Numeracy. I thought they should look at real tv listings, so *guilty pleasure alert* I have bought the Radio Times for next week. :o Well, it has a picture of (Lady) Mary Berry on the front & two of her recipes on the inside. That makes it OS. No?! :rotfl:

    3) Toast and smoked trout pate for supper before I went to book club. Scones with jam and cream when I got there. :D

    4) Local book warehouse is open to the public on Sunday. I can feel an expensive trip coming on, if quite fruitful.

    5) Think I'm beginning to look like a tea bag, I've drunk that much! ;)
