skinto that's great news for your boy!
Well it seems it's that time of day again....beddy byes for me in a tick....back in at early o'clock for work in the morning again! Sigh!
So for Saturday:
Work...another days wages earned , a busy day and I was glad to get finished but I work with a nice bunch of young girlies .
Home in my car, nice to drive when it's not mad , crazy rush hour, I'm lucky that we live near the station and work is near the station for through the week....but nice to just jump in car and drive home at weekend.
Dropped DD1 off at 18th party number one and then we went for a late lunch, a nice BLT for me. Then back to collect DD....and had a cuddle from a 6 week old baby boy who was there.
Did a small grocery shop and was half the usual cost. Have enough in cupboard and freezer to do.
DD1 , quick change for 18th number 2 of the day! Looking rather lovely. My girls are so different ,DD1 not a dressy / make up -y girl and DD2 is very much one!
Didn't need tea as late lunch sufficed.
Nice chat with friend from home and mum.
Good night from me....have a lovely weekend.0 -
Morning all - tried and failed several times to post. Blessed ipad keeps deleting stuff!
Hope this lovely march day finds us all well. I love March, I know we can still get some carp weather, but I feel the worst is behind us.
Though I find myself a little jealous of something / someone today and I don't like the feelingA colleague has been honoured for something I don't feel he deserves. it's not like me really. :-/ Not sure if jealous is the right term - I don't want the honour for myself (I haven't done anything to deserve it either), but said colleague is very self serving, often leaving the rest of us in the lurch. Another colleague calls him "the nicest to$$ER he ever met! ":D I just leave out the word "nicest"
I will get over it, I am sure.
Hey ho - I am not going to let it spoil my enjoyment of the yellow thing.
Pleasures for the last couple of days
1. Signs of spring - daffodils opening, my rhubarb pushing through, green shoots on bushes. I love it. Another winter overcome
2. some nights off watching TV. Bit of knitting, bit of quilting.
3. Finished teaching my Friday law session :T
4. Turned wrinkly veg into a root veg layer bake and some soup. Turned manky bananas into banana bread.
5. we had a new MSc ratified yesterday and I didn't need to be involved. Although it will mean additional marking for me, it helps to secure the future of our school.
6. It's March, it's March, It's March. I kind of know why March hares are mad!!
7. DD has a lovely new haircut. Gone from very long to short choppy bob in one fell swoop but it gives her an "edge". OH was funny "we paid all that money for her hair cut, the least she could do is comb it" sounding exactly like A DAD :rotfl:
8. New cleaner is brill
That'll do. Off to visit MiL for tea.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -

That would be nice - I feel like I've forgotten how to relax at the moment.
1) To quote Frith - not a bad sleep.
2) Isis had recovered enough to be something of a nuisance this morning, which has to be a good sign.
3) Had a bad case of the fidgets, so I decided to spend it constructively by cleaning the bathroom.
4) Got my first ever 'golden ticket' on a daily play comp - it just gives you an entry into a draw so it doesn't mean much, but it's nice to have finally seen what one looks like after playing unsuccessfully for several years!
5) I'll be having a lazy night tonight - a RM moussaka and a film, probably from the Harry Potter box set I bought with my last survey voucher. :money:
Hope everyone's enjoyed the lovely (if chilly) yellow stuff today.Back after a very long break!0 -
Pleasures for today -
1. Got our money back on something that never materialised and bought it again locally for less. Result!
2. Am wearing a lovely top given to me by a friend.
3. Went out to a market town about an hour away and spent a lovely afternoon wandering around in the sunshine. We did eat out while we were there but we bypassed the gastro-pub and ate at a chain instead. It won't have been quite as nice but it cost us £20 instead of £70.
4. Just about to make a start on my favourite magazine, bought on subscription as a birthday gift last year.
5. Have also started a patchwork quilt for a friend who is emigrating soon. I hate to see her go but I know I can give her a very individual leaving present.0 -
Ampersand - It's on Kindle at the moment, the "Your website" link in my profile is currently set to it
It's non-fiction, the preview includes the full contents list and the first two chapters.
Today has been quite a nice day;
1. Went in to Kingston to potter around. Had lunch at TGI Fridays, mostly paid for with a voucher I got last year.
2. Bought some new storage bits so I can organise things a bit better.
3. Changed the sheets so tonight I can snuggle down under a lavender-scented duvet tonight.
4. Made a significant dent in the freezer, to the point where I have no home made pasta sauces left. So now there's a new pot of bolognese on the cooker as we speak, and the best bit is that it's cooked using mince I bought cheap last month as it was on the use by date and then threw in the freezer, so it hasn't come out of this weeks food budget
5. The sun has been shining for most of the day, although it has still been quite chilly.
6. The daffodils are out!
Tomorrow is going to be a combination of being a lazy madam and spontaneous moments of clearing out!0 -
biblio your siggie made me laugh
well done master frith for both the sentiment and the spelling
vjsmum i know exactly how you feel. i hereby award you an OBE (overwhelmingly best ever!)
didn't really enjoy my late night pass last night. trouble is some of my colleagues go into 'fixing dd up on online dating sites' when drinking. the more they drink the more they enjoy 'the challenge'. after a while i drifted over to a neighour whose partner was picking him up at 9. so early night for dd.
1) found dog poo bag refills for the dog poo bag holder shaped like a bone. 99p for 3 rolls so bought 2 lots
2) beautiful sunny day
3) ds1 came home this morning en route to his flat from the music soc ball. then dd2 came home en route to 21st birthday party. lovely to see them both
4) cooked very nice bangers and mash with linda mccartney sausages (99p from l!dl), gravy made with red onion and passata, and veg nom nom
5) another square knitted while watching line of duty. 12 down 24 to goMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
25 for 25: 371 / 625
declutter: 173 / 2025

Is there something wrong with the MSE forum it’s the only website I am having really bad response time issues with?
1. Got up to get to an apt to finish the kitchen designing by 9am.
2. Came back and went to lidls for their weekend offer, some meat for the animals some for us, and a few other bits and pieces, meat all divvied up into us portions and animal portions and frozen.
3. After watching a bizzare film dark fantasy film that happened to be on during lunch, we went over to visit friends with a smallholding, they rescue animals and I could spend many a day there lovely to catch up and ponder around the animals.
4. Just put on some defrosted rtc chicken wrapped in ham type thing cooking through, chopped up some of the lidl veg and my stomach is grumbling away.
5. As we are about tomorrow, I’ve meal planned for a roastie joint tomorrow, which is defrosting nicely in the fridge.0 -
Evening all.
Struggling somewhat to keep my body together. Stomach upset means that my meds don't seem to be working properly so I'm resting/snoozing lots and doing bits of work/sorting/decluttering in small chunks.
Five pleasures since last time:
1. Saw the consultant at the hospital and have agreed a plan of action for my op assuming no more crises. He was agreeing with my ideas which was very helpful.
2. Have initiated the house hunt. We're seeing a very lovely little cottage a stone's throw away on Monday. There's someone else in the queue with first call but they mayn't be able to make the moving dates needed. We can act immediately so that's in our favour. Fingers crossed.
3. Have got agreement from friends/LL we needed to ask about references so that's all in place for when we need it.
4. Have culled the video collection: two black sackfuls for the dump/recycling (do they recycle old videos?) Carrier for charity shop. Another carrier for friend. About half a dozen are being kept because they are irreplaceable and one day we may be able to transfer them onto DVD.
5. Baked fish with rosemary roasted spuds and salad for supper. Lovely.
Sweet dreams

Skint - that IS good news for your son!
Broomstick - exciting news re the house hunt.
My pleasures for today:
1) A lie in - hoorah!
2) Smaller son finished his antibiotics at last and seems better.
3) The third load of washing is now in the dryer and the beds are changed.
4) Did lots of paperwork that has been lying on the piano gathering dust and got 2 thing posted. Wasn't so bad once I started.
5) Went to Hereford and looked round the charity shops - nothing! Went to Waterstones to buy the new Jack Monroe book and John "Boycie" Challis was in the front of the shop, signing his new book. Very quiet in there but of course I just walked past him! Then the power went off so it was all very odd. Book bought, ended up following Boycie and Mrs Challis through Hereford (accidentally!) then had my lunch. Went to the cathedral and I had to squeeze past them in there too!
6) Went to Ledbury on the way home; hadn't been there in years. Possibly decades.
7) Popped in to mum and dad's and they are going to sponsor smaller son's readathon.
8) Scampi and chips from the van for tea.
9) Good Housekeeping arrived today (friend gets me a subscription for Christmas).
10) Casualty has just started!0 -
Broomstick wishing you well now and good luck with the cottage
PK the animal rescue sounds lovely, good for your friends who run it
Frith I agree, Casualty
6. Thoroughly enjoyed Darcey's Ballerina Heroines, seeing clips and interviews with so many dancers I was a fan of, and my heroine Beryl Grey, who I was so fortunate as a child to see in her final performance of Swan Lake with Sadlers Wells. Unfortunately my dreams of being a ballerina such as her came to nothing as I was a short and quite tubby child at that age! Wonderful programme, wonderful memories, definitely one to watch again.
Sweet dreams0
