Ooh I love gammon but we don't seem to get it here....

Well it's Monday evening...not quite bedtime yet. It's my baby's birthday she is 14 today. Just had birthday dinner of spag Bol and birthday cake for pud.
I had made a pink cake decorated with ( hidden for past 2 months) Percy pigs. Very nice but very sweet.

Oh, how I struggled this morning getting ready for work. Only 2 more long days to go and then some time off.
It was dark until about 6,50 am , I've just checked and it's another month until clocks change here. Cool start to day but heated up to a very warm 29o and to be a hotter 33o tomorrow. But hurrah it was payday and as I worked more hours in last week I got more money and it was rounded up by $2.

I had a snigger to myself on the train home and thought I'd post it here. Madly busy train , full of school kids, uni has gone back and just very overcrowded, as it is everyday....so I get on amongst the throng and look for a seat. The man sitting opposite had the biggest thighs and the smallest shorts! I couldn't sit forwards as his legs were so wide! So had to sit at a very odd angle with school bags and sweaty armpits too close to my face! Then this man got on , with no top on and was acting rather oddly. A pleasure to get off! I did swither whether to take the car this morning but the thought of driving in rush hour made me walk for the train!

Stopped off at florists and bought my girl a bouquet of pretty flowers .....they are in my front room though...so I have the pleasure of them.

DS back at uni and very chatty this evening ( as in exceptionally chatty!) nice though. I've hardly seen him last few days as he was at music festival and then our and about at weekend whilst I was at work. Said hello last night before I fell asleep.

DD happy with her gifts...all purchased in the sales :)

    Have a fabulous day :)
Received a letter from my letter writing friend.

This is one for the regulars on this thread - I have one spare ticket to see an updated version of The Merchant of Venice at Shakespear's Globe Theatre on Saturday afternoon. If one of you lovely people would like it then please send me a PM.

Ach - this new format... (reverts to vintage)

BoP - and swigging from the bucket is wrong? Freddo is good stuff - no unexpected coffee risk! Home made fish & chips - Raffles is a Lucky cat - but has been very generous with the yellow stuff. Razor missing - what is Raffles up to?!
ampersand - trust you to guide feet to the good stuff! Congratulations on painting, marmelade & enfant Lara Melissa! (Who will guide her infant hands on the rattle, then triangle?!) Superlative sourcing of real jam jars & Oh your waitrose wonders leave me in awe (and peckish)! You can grow basil from seed? (My attempts, if they survive germination, die as soon as exposed to Lancs weather.) 60 jars - may your lovely village snap them up and appreciate you all the more! Waistcoat making is a special gift - it's fun fitting the fabric to the person, let alone then "fitting" the garment to them! (Love that marron taffeta... And Jonny, in a different mental breath.) 'no shackles, no chains' and yet you recruit for waitrose?!
CCP - gentle strokes to Isis several days late & All the best with the quiz! Well done dog-whispering (which will disconcert Isis - fair play!) You resolve fidgets with cleaning the bathroom - well done! Enjoy Harry!
kittikins - how goes Phonics Kitty?! Instruments for an orchestra need not be the classic stings, brass, wind etc - there are melodies to be enjoyed in tin pans, whistles, kazoos etc Glad you had a good time in Oxford even if all them bones gave you a headache.
Purple kitten - hoping you are better, that the steam fair toots happily & that the collage works (Son asked me to show him how to knit. The now triangular scarf has been shelved as he's reverted to gardening - I may see if I can't coax the kniting into a wooly turtle.) Congratulations on trouser room! Thankyou for resisting snow to give snowdrops, daffs etc a chance! Well done on judiciuously snotty letters getting results & good luck with the fence. Worry not about MSE times - the forum experimenting is a bit intensive! Chicken wrapped in ham will smell sensational as it cooks... So sorry to hear of your colleague - it feels unspeakably wrong. Thinking about the garden the best way to use wet weather.
Patchwork - your museli sounds delicious - have you tried fruit leathers? (Needs a dehydrator but it means you can add all sorts of fruit!) Sorry to hear your friend is emigrating but a patchwork quilt is a *very* special gift. Gifts & hoarded bits - yes, those are the same ingredients, along with love, that I was taught!
sparrer - well done getting some line drying in before the wet & may you have a lovely time up here in Lancs with family! Your afternoon of reading & Snoozing sounds glorious! With you entirely on the wonders a cuppa can do & on the delights of gardening on St.David's day. I've never heard of a landlord chucking a *happy* noisy thirsty party out. All the best with service & MOT!
Frith - much time with medics, but oooh that greenhouse looks fun! Now jewellery lessons are over you move onto crochet?! Delighted your son has you corectly & gramatically identified! Glad his antibiotics are done & he seems better - all the best with the readathon! You have shingles? Eeeek - all gardening to be of the "stand & say" sort for a while. Can you still be hugged? Hurrah Master Frith the Elder understands the need for humour. "Bidet, las Vegas" will be my earworm tonight!
VickyA - smoked trout pate? <Awe!> Tea contains so much healthy stuff, you couldn't *possibly* be looking like a teabag. <Said the caddy.> Weekend sleep-ins are underestimated!
DD - thank you & blimey it sounds a fascinating week! Fingers crossed Kurdistan & Kracow can both go ahead... Drat. Hoping new lecturer fits in well & comfortably. Late passes bring mixed blessings, but unexpected offspring visiting are a treat. I know the dog bags you refer to - gave a short skeleton of same to dog-owning sis for Christmas! Five pleasures in verse! Knitting bobbles, for a beret. <imagination struggles & falls over.> Sounds happy enough, though!
mhagster - sounds like fun times for the family, including kicking of shoes at the end! All these parties! And a baby boy to cuddle & hand back - happy, happy times all round! "a birthday cake a la Percy Pig", eh?! Lucky daughter! Busy happy times - what a wonderful example you set!
lovefullshelves - you imp, you, baking skyrockets for impressionable young minds! Good to know you're rightly shod for zombie chasing.
Tealady - your trees have blossom? Oh well done - old family videos on DVD - it's wonderful to see family. What stunning shoes!
BritishBibliophile - well done on the ebook, the clearning & the hot shower - real pleasures all! Love the plan "a combination of being a lazy madam and spontaneous moments of clearing out" - hope it worked out for you! All the best with the clear out - my sister lives in a tiny flat & loves it, but is ruthless at clearing out!
Skint yet Again - hurrah for safety glassses that are smart & on someone else's budget! Lucky Specials! Washing dried out on the line - lovely! Glad to hear you enjoying all these winning ways with gammon!
VJSmum - forget others' honours (even Honours) & focus on the fact we prize you more dearly than any of your colleagues. Hope daughter hasn't suffered second thoughts about her haircut - to go from long to short with no middle step can be a bit traumatic! Hurrah signs of spring! Well done finding anything for MiL's birthday, hapopy giggles & well done again DS doing homework!
Broomstick - gently, gently - stomachs respond strongly to stress but well done with cottage, references & not chucking All VHS tapes! You know you're going to the tip a lot when the staff recognise you. Well done on box ticking!
muser - chicken pie sounds delicious & the veggies for lunches sound loads of fun too. Nice coffee & DS eager for playgroup - aww!
mcculloch - winning Good Housekeeping & getting an extra copy ofJack for the library - well done you! Daffodils and snowdrops and crocuses all at once?! Stunning!

    OS Pleasures recently
Clear, cold, damp but somehow hopeful.

Giggling at my NU based cousins observations on the Oscars - devastating comments....

Got a tray in the sale - at last can do a washing up round after a dozen people. (Little sandwich thing just frustrating!)

Weeding & lugging & taking cuttings & asking family to do so - hope to grow our own blackberries this autumn! Possibly decorate with own holly but not certain those cuttings will take...

Missed musketeers again in favour of long hot shower & earlier night - iPlayer will look after me. (Grimm back this week after Sochi hiatus!)

Phone call with dippy Uncle, sounding well & not completely dehors de son arbre.

    Yellow stuff!

Snowdrops in back garden - unexpected surprise & pleasure!

Costco run planned. My flexi will allow to to leave early & my paycheque will let me resupply. All they might not have I shall look for in the huge Asda next door!

Big hugs to all who need them, may Spring emerge persistently soon & may all we are trying to grow blossom!

    Tealady: A lovely offer there.
Some short pleasures for feeling a little just flat.
    1. A bit miffed to realise I had forgotten the month end was a week early so pay is a week late, the pleasure being march will be better.
    2. I am sitting here with a Scotland rough guide covered in post it’s, just trying to plan out how to do it where to go in logical order, stuck for smaller campsites mid way maybe Killin?
    3. Yesterday’s leftovers are now cooking through in the oven as mash topped pork basically.
    4. One bin bag of de cluttering stuff managed today, we weren’t really in the mood.
    5. DH listing bits and pieces on ebay as part of de cluttering.

    Live Scrabble

BoPsie won last night. She has to win this evening, to stand a chance of winning three on the trot. She has a good start!

    Has BoP lost it?

Early drawers. BoP is on 37. BoPsie slips into an early lead on 52.

BoP pix up the X. A triple letter is available. Will BoPsie block? She blocked, but opened up, and the X lands on another triple letter. 52 scored. Skill is built in, form is natural. Going to be a long night.

    Soecial wobbleades are in!!

BoPsie comes on the triple word and gets 47. BoP is in trouble, could BoPsie get in within one of three on the bounce. 99 plays 109. BoP leads at last! Leads change as the tiles are played. BoP trails by 2 on 160!

I think the bounce has happened, just laid egg on the triple word. Lead by 10! Wobbleade is on its way! 7 letterer coming up, on the g from my egg. And makes it to the other triple word. Think the three on the trot is safe this evening. Let us hope BoPsie no blocks!

Bit of a Jolt laid by BoPsie, she could had blocked with Jog, but left the opening for BoP. Sedating, two blanks. 74 scored. Think the record is safe now! Oh pith. BoPsie has the Z. But BoP gets the Q!

Tile bag is empty. Scores BoPsie tails by 31 on 232? BoPsie gets 33 on the Q. I am out in three places. Lead by 18 after playing Men. Two tiles left. BoPsie has to score 17 to win. Tense!

BoPsie has an I and a S. I goes on the Q. There is M within 1. BoPsie anguished, she knows BoP is out, but she needs to score 17 or more. Will the S be played. Bottle?

The atmosphere is rising. The dictionary is on the shelf.
