It's been a funny kind of day...
Here are my pleasures and odd bits....
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons had good days at school.
3) I went to pilates.
4) Popped to mum and dad's, mainly because their phone has been off since last Saturday when a tree fell and took the line out for their village.
5) Scan appointment for bigger son in the post. One step nearer to getting him sorted out.
6) Went on the allotment and Fred said not to bother taking all the rubbish on mine to the tip as he would put it on a bonfire he is going to have shortly. (Bonfires aren't really allowed which is why I didn't have one myself). Noticed a massive frog in the pond and did a few more metres of digging.
7) Went to the doctors. I've been referred to another consultant about the burping/bad tummy, have another test, new tablets and the most severe diet sheet I've ever seen. It's something like BODMAS (though not that, because that's maths!) Worst bit is - no gluten or milk. After that little lot, she concluded whatever is on my back is not shingles and also that I should be referred to the adult team to be (possibly) diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome. No one will fall over in shock at that!
8) Booked cinema tickets for Gravity tomorrow at our lovely little local cinema. Brother is coming as well.
9) Sorted out with the EBay man when to pick up the pond liner for our new allotment pool (to replace leaky pool).
10) Bigger son went round to play next door for a bit. (Apparently the new MrsN doesn't acknowledge him either, even with MrN there, so it's not just happening to me!!)
11) Pancakes!

Evening all
Several pleasures in the last couple of days:
1. Saw the house which would be ideal and have said we'd like it. We just have to see what will happen with the people ahead of us in the queue. (Fingers crossed there.)
2. Spoke to the estate agent who rented us this place when we first moved in and he said he'd be very happy to rent to us again so he's looking out for something. If house no 1 falls through maybe he'll come up trumps with something before it goes to advert. (Fingers crossed again.)
3. My pedometer which went through the washing machine is now, courtesy of DS2, dried out and has a new battery and is working again so I don't have to buy a new one after all, just need to get myself moving again. I'm still not feeling too well so I might just reduce my total steps goal back down again to something achievable and build it up again. Thinking about it.
4. Totally self-indulgent binge on new genealogy research into my grandfather's family has been turning up some very interesting new bits and pieces, especially newspaper articles. I've been busily emailing my discoveries to my parents.
5. Have been getting on with more sorting, organising, shredding, filing and decluttering (and daytime napping as well). Feels like things are moving forward slowly.
6. The Great British Sewing Bee was very good tonight on iplayer. I've never sewn jersey or used an overlocker although my basic sewing skills are solid and tonight's episode taught me lots of things I didn't know.
7. I shall miss the hooty owls if we have to move too far away from them.I can hear them really loudly right now even though the double glazed windows and thermally-curtained doors are all shut tight.
8. Such a pretty little crescent moon in the sky tonight.
Going to make a hottie and get to bed. Just seen the time... that's what comes of having daytime naps - it throws my body clock out of synch!
Sweet dreams

Fingers and toes crossed for the cottage or somewhere even nicer Broomstick x0

lovefullshelves - stamps always a good buy, and the net of limes (12 for £2.29) was met with rapture, as was price of kilo of flora (on special!) Still tickled pink by idea of laundry in greenhouse and abusing NSA on the phone, & these zombie killing boots....
Purple kitten - at least your DH is listing on ebay & you have a plan for scotland!
BoP - she lost *&* you trounced at cribbage... Enjoy every minute of the duvet time!
kittikins - expectation management is all - hope DD feels better soon! Lego animation?! (Link, please?!)
Patchwork - right with you on the rarity of almost clear roads & the surprise & delight therein. My lot go mushy over Pixar, but same idea. Large red jumper sounds wonderful - practical & thoughtful!
Frith - hurrah for camping stools & happy cooking with Jack! Son the elder needs a scan whilst you get different pills & a gruesome restrictive diet? Enjoy frog, pond liner & Gravity! (As looking up FODMAP, old pond liner may look dratted tasty.)
DD - you're a pianist as well? <Awe!>
Ampersand - oh that moon - stunning! Lovely to be able to walk into a trumpet rehearsal - brass is uninhibiting, somehow. We're not supposed to talk about the New Look? I'll keep silence. "'We're only given so much as we can bear" - all strength to you!
mhagster - glad to hear UK tenants renewing, and your rabbit-herding successful!
skogar - delighted pancake day a happy time!
sparrer - sorry to hear service more expensive than hoped then pursued by medics, but hurrah for tea & DD finding a slinky red dress!
CCP - did you enjoy the Dockyard? Very glad to hear Isis back to playful!
VickyA - parents evening always fascinating - names to faces etc at last. The Art Card sounds a source of great fun, but well trained students are a satisfaction in themselves!
Broomstick - hurrah for house hopes & be gentle with parents re ancestry. (I've accidentally let mum in tears when she's realised she's the last one left to know relatives T, P & H let alone spouses & approximate places of birth.) Restart low with newly washed pedo!
OS Pleasures recently
Hugely enjoying Ian Hislop on the Do-Gooders. My husband nearly whimpering with laughter at the description of the Old Civil Service, me just revelling in the presentation & understanding.
Son bouncing off to Scouts with a jar just acquired from Costco. Of Nutella, to my surprise, not the jalapeño peppers he'd asked for. Seems none of the read the "savoury" memo!
That "knew it!" rueful grin as you go past the pump & seconds later the little light goes on.
Laughing aloud at "sunshine later on" when it's solid cloud cover.
Crooning to the cherry trees - where I can see tiny fragile green leaves nosing carefully from the buds!
Unexpected hug from very nearly as tall as me (but not quite yet) youngest when he realised I'd brought a Big Tub of Hot Chocolate back from Costco.
That virtuous feeling you get when you check price & availability of something for a colleague. Plus faint smug when your choice is better value.
Begun a Cecilia book on boys - two "ahh!" (indeed, of course) moments in the first 10 minutes - *never* been this tempted to play hooky from work by a book!
Realised eldest wanted a cuddle after a bad day (poor lamb - I missed two hints) & did motherly best to engulf his long skinny self in a hug. Worked for several seconds before he "felt better now".
Discussing Oyster cards & tethering to railcards with a colleague - all news to him!
Big hugs to all who need them, woollens & HWBs & parasols as needed & come on Spring!0 -
Yes, yes dfv, exactly - isn't she brilliant? *never* been this tempted to play hooky from work by a book!' I know exactly what you mean.
I'm so pleased by your reaction:-)
-and your next pleasure ties in well with CL too.
Heavy reports and putah and heavy phone every molto-forensic day for over a week now and had enough. Pleasures should be in outcomes tomorrow/next week.
If anyone likes millicano, I'm fetching extras for self and neighbour on w8r0s BOGOF, along with bunny carrots shortly. Then Ash Wednesday maybe. For choc and coffee I'm taking water.
Finished more crochet at some small hour.
Last night's moon was fingernail from first Sunday sliver....tonight?
Meanwhile, best fetch in all-weather riding jackets from line.
No numbering atm - doesn't feel right.

Afternoon all, snatching a moment on the train to catch up after some frantic work emailing. So forgive spelling and iPad corrections
DforV you got a hug? Wow, jealous
Everyone, that moon was amazing
Chicken - we are missing you love, hope it is technical and not personal, IYSWIM
Pleasures for last several days
Blossom on the trees
THAT moon
Graduation ceremony yesterday. Proud mummy moment when all 60 of my "children" walked across the stage. Me in the full "Harry Potter" garb, but minus wand and broomstick. Honorary doctorate to Michael Heseltine, the pleasure was that his speech was brief and there was no politics.:rotfl:
On way back from Cardiff. Another day, another audition. She said it went well - the best ever - but I am now convinced that we must look on this as experience and anything else is a bonus. One poor petrified looking lad apparently was "Benedict brilliant" but he is going for masters <<phew>>
Nutella milkshake and a burger for lunch at some fifties style diner. I am still stuffed five hours on
Some warmth in the sun, and the promise of more. To come
Have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thursday morning....but you're all still Wednesday so I can still post some pleasures.
Wednesday was an odd day. There was an accident on the train I was on to work. Someone fell off the platform under the train. We, on the train , did not know what was happening, just that we were all stuck ( locked) inside the train for 10 minutes, not knowing what was happening. Then when we were allowed off, the realisation of what had happened was truly awful.
I was 2 stops from work. The whole train line was shut down both ways so I couldn't even get back home to get my car and drive. Finally managed to get a taxi and was half an hour late. I did ask at my station, when I returned home last night and they kindly called the station where it happened but they didn't know what the outcome was. The man had still been alive and taken to hospital.
Once I was there I had a good day at work....apart from a few mutterings from you know who....but I just shrugged them off!
Home with enough sandwiches and rolls to feed my family!
Met my son at the station....we'd been on the same train home but hadn't realised! He was topping up his rail card and I was asking at enquiry office about the accident. So we walked home together in the drizzly rain, which was nice!
Went on a hot date with my husband , we went for some Mexican food and both came out almost in a food coma! Was so nice just to sit and catch up, I've been working past 6 full days and going to bed earlier and earlier each night! So we are all up to date with our news!
We were sat next to someone who was a lovely customer from my old job, so that was nice to see her and have a quick catch up with her news.
Home and straight to bed and a very good sleep, I have so much to catch up in the house and garden next few days.....I feel a list coming on!0 -
Lego Icarus - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W1TZ16W-3k enjoy
1. Fab morning in the woods making dens and chatting with the childrenHot chocolate too!
2. Introduced the class to the maths game DD invented as our starter; they loved it, and so we'll play it again tomorrow during my observed lesson
3. DD went back to school today
4. Her team also won at their first netball match against another school
5. Half way through the week
6. After school meeting/lecture by an education bigwig. He was very entertaining and charming, but it was kind of like being at one of our (rarely) good lectures at uni. Never mind, we'll get brownie points for attending!0 -
mhagster - how awful about that accident - I hope he survives and heals soon.
DfV - the Dockyard was very good, thank you. I last went there properly (rather than wandering in for music festivals / craft fairs etc) years ago, before I moved to Portsmouth, so it was almost like a new place to go.
Broomstick - great news about the house - fingers crossed you get it, or one even better.
I'm feeling a bit off-colour today: at the concert on Sunday night I sat next to someone who sniffled all evening - I thought she was finding the music unusually moving but, as I've now started sniffling, I think she must have had a cold, and now I've got it.
1) Last night I gave up on Ms Sulky Cat and left her in the wardrobe while I went to the pub quiz. Today she is Ms Super-Affectionate Cat instead.
2) A text from my DM to say she'd received her birthday present and liked it: she loves all things owl-related, so I bought her a real, live barn owl for her collection. (Well, sort of - it's one of these 'adopt an animal' schemes, so she gets a photo and the owl gets to recover from its injuries before hopefully flying free again.)
3) This gem of of a game, from the comps board - it is a comp, but it's also a genuinely good game, although an annoyingly addictive one!
4) Soup with cheese on toast for dinner - simple, but so good!
I'll keep #5 in reserve for another time, possibly when this cold's gone away!Back after a very long break!0
