VJsmum my DS and DGS are both refs, DS 1st Div and DGS who is 16 refs local adults and childrens matches. A ref has to be very thick skinned, and have selective hearing! I hope his experience hasn't put your DS off.
I assure you all that I only ever ironed guest bedding when I was working, but when mine has been out on the line and smells air-fresh, to have it crease free as well is a luxury I can afford the time to do these days
1. Shopped in @ldi, all the super 6 at 49p were on my shopping list today. This week's shopping was just under £14
2. A man in front of me at the till was pennies short which I gave to him - only because he was holding up the queue trying to decide what to put back!
3. Had a voucher for 1.5kg of kibble for muttley, the farm shop had just one of that flavour in stock
4. Lunch out as usual, joined by two friends I haven't seen for months so we were even more lively than usual in the pub
5. Made a loaf which needed 17 oz of strong flour but only had 11 oz. Risked making it up with SR and it was perfectly okay
Get well, stay well, sweet dreams0 -
DFV - DS wanted to put extra layers on to reduce weight of bag in hold but as BAirways would not cut the lock off for him he had to pay £50 excess baggage
None of the[STRIKE] friends [/STRIKE]people on his trip would lend him the money
Anyway... pleasures:
1. Nice night out sat eve with friends. Local pub had a band on and had a good time. Only had 1 alchoholic drink and a coke so cheap night too.
2. Slept well despite panic earlier in evening
3. DS is home safe and sound. When flight landed UK Customs cut lock off his bag anyway !!! - he had some biltong (Sp?) cured meat in his bag which he declared so they just took it off him & no further action.
4. Roast chicken dinner on sunday. nom nom
5. sun is shining this morning .... better get on with the washing mountain DS brought back!0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗

Hi,would like to join in if that's ok. Used to post here several years ago,but stopped when DH was working through a bout of cancer. He is now clear, but I have contacted it, horrible disease, so I thought it would be good for me if I concentrated on the good things in life, so here goes.
1. I got to spend the entire day with my wonderful DH.
2. A friend arrived with a present of 4 crayfish (lobsters) for us. As these retail at about $5o each, it was a very generous gift.
3. Another friend contacted us and has another 2 crays for us (and no haven't told him about friend 1.
4. Spent the weekend with some wonderful people, lots of laughter, good food and wine.
5. Bought fabric to recover squabs in the motorhome, and we both agreed on the same fabric.0 -
Started to tippytap here last night then stopped. Even fell asleep DURING Cabin Pressure... Luckily-

1. Pancake Communion in near village and remarkable sermon, without the later Victorian 'heavy' overtones. The original sense of 'discourse' !!! conversation is better. This was that, but no less strong and vital. One lovely old gent gave the long OT Genesis reading and it was wonderful...rolling burr agricultural voice, like a great chat shared while ploughing. Good pancakes freshly made too.
2. Someone unexpected there, known from mutual NT work. She's a striking, gifted woman, late 70's, looks barely 50's, another Cambridge academic's widow. The death of her Mother at nearly 100 has, in her words, 'given me back my Life at last, but what was the Life I thought I was waiting to get back?' Hugs. When she asked, told her I was going directly to the Fitzwilliam and why. She was going to try and catch it too...
3...being the last day of Edmund de Waal. Unlike Sat, was able to give entire time to it, 12-17h and necessarily so. Extra lit. taken for person in 2. as it is so beautifully written by EdeW. It's very easy to hear his DID all over again with each sentence.... Had to find a Florentine altarpiece referred to, so back to main entrance, pop? They'd been asked by one other[since November!], but can't be sure themselves. Up went & to the Italian rooms, only remotely likely candidate is a Taddeo Zuccari
http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/explorer/index.php?oid=676
EdeW refers to 'a Florentine altarpiece upstairs', with a chinese porcelain jar proffered by a stiffly kneeling king to the Christchild. Only this comes near, but neither steward, nor &, could find anything fitting that object.
Looks like another of &'s missives will be on its way:-)
4. Fence down again, despite yesterday's angle-iron add-on. Saw it when pleased to see blue tits coming back at last and feeders empty.
5. [STRIKE]Jonny W[/STRIKE]Toulon 15 - Bayonne 9.:j
Add to which, caught in the exciting final minutes of a round ball match on car radio hier soir and Team Delia won!:D St Stephen of Fry will be pleased.
vjm - please let son see some of the urgings here and show him how good he'll feel when he's out with the whistle again. He can always yellow card THAT type and take out his Notebook...if even the fig. sense of that certainty is as far as he takes it. C'mon Son of VJM!!!!!
broomstick[who should know] is spot on with this:
The refereeing isn't just good for the sport, it really does provide all kinds of concrete examples when you get round to job applications: leadership, decision making, taking responsibility when the buck stops with you, enforcing boundaries around rules and regs, coping with crowd control with adults and children, maintaining health and safety... ,
so it's a big red heads-up repeat, all for him okay?
skint - I love and make biltong. Your son can too - it's hfw, but & adapts[as with most recettes]:
http://www.channel4.com/4food/recipes/chefs/hugh-fearnley-whittingstall/biltong-recipe
Lots to do - not least of which is heaving fence back up again.

Monday evening and dark o'clock....nights are starting to get darker that wee bit earlier and was still dark at 6.30am...autumns just around the corner although as a warm 27o it doesn't feel it yet!
So , lack of confidence at work this morning, not in my comfort zone on a Sunday or a Monday , doing something I've never done before ....I am capable but just getting my knickers in a twist. Spoke to my boss and she said she believes in me and I need to believe in myself more. Everything I made turned out perfectly though! So ,yes , I do need to believe in myself.
Home on the train....with hundreds of school kids! But I did get a seat ,
Popped into the library to borrow a book.love my library.
Made chicken and mushroom pies for tea with mashed potatoes . Lovely.
Made lemon meringue cupcakes for pud, using up home made lemon curd.
Peas are fairly growing and pumpkins seedlings are through .
Nice chat with mum on the phone, she was quite bright.
Day off tomorrow
caterina hope all is well with you too.0 -
Magnets and magnetrons , incy spiders and snakes. Going to be one of them. You’ll have to read on, but for now.
Thinks me and DD may be parting the ways by the end of April, though I thinks they may had scored to often.
Jenny gives thanks, and flattens her battery at the same time. Nearly time for the upload to the maker soo. Oh, and :heartpuls :heartpuls off to the quack Friday.
Saturday Scones and meals out. Spare room naps. Lousy Nights. Vision shared, that will be an excuse for the communion wine then. Fencing. Bacon sandwish, that is an unprocessed snorker! Vouchers and Savings. Old Style museums. Latin clubs, Per Ardua ad Astara. Could do 44 (R), but it is a bit non PC and … Clean linen. Referee!! We had one used to come to the Lawn. Everyone moaned at him. But his decisions were usualy right. One game had three floodlight failures, and he finished the match at 6. You saw him last year on TV. He ran the line at the World Cup Final! Baked tates. Beans on Toast. Mixing flour. Laughs, wine, and nibbles. Too early for tossing, that is next week. And, something I cannot do, is get me knickers in a twist. No, I do not go in them.
5 Just whisked through the sin box, and noted that EMI records is now Virgin EMI. Goodness what Mr Lydon, you know, of that butter advert!, would think of that. Goodbye A and M!
4 Anyway, did the sauce another way last eve, so especially for DfV, as she wanna’s my recipes, that have been handed down since Pontius flew for the first time. So instead of the Bitsers Snoganov, as before, this time, I did the Chikka Tikka, brewed on the side, out of raffles sight, Tikka Chikka, that be Chikka Breasts, well I am a Breast man, Natural Yogut, Coriander, Gralic, Cumin, Termites, Mint, garam masala, fresh grated ginger. Whisk into yogut, and jucie of a lemon, with its rind grated. Brew on side, away from cat for as long as you like. It never hurt your nana. And for the sauce, I did it in the gravy pan yestdi. Water, B4rt Coconut block. Add termites, bit of garam masala, chilli. Brew, add fresh pineapple. They last in the fridge and in the Palace de BoP, last forever, but are gone in days. I added peas as well. BoPsie did look bemused, but again, she wolfed it down, with the Special Fried Rice. That is your long grain rice, not that Basmatti carp. And being MSE, far cheaper. Rinse with boiling water. Add peas, and little bitsers from fridge, such as onion, finely chopped (Not Toe Nailed), and mushrooms, bitsers bacon. Toss in red hot pan. Add rice and a bit of soy sauce. Scramble egg in small pan, then toss together. Recipe has been tested by BoPsie and approved for general use.
3 Yes, I won at Scrabble last nite. Bit of controversy and I slammed down []usty, for, tolds you so I was, Busty. BoPsie then puts c on the treble for make Crusty? No I said Busty as I had Bee left to go out. Nearly had rule check, but cannot let her get away, so allowed her to take her turn again. So kind and considerate is you BoP. She then laid all, nearly on another treble and got a lead of 10. She thinking that my Bee, on Busty would win her the game! No worries, Bee would not had won the game, as the B was a blank. I laid my EE on a T, and a W for 8, she had two tiles left, me all out. Won by 2 points and again, your BoP was, Victorious.
2 BoPsi just giggled, got up and made the Cocoa, from the proper stuff from Born Vill and made hot buttered crumpets with marmite. And Raffles, yes licked the plate. He likes his brown stuff as well. Note to readers, although it misstates on the bjar that it is fortified with vitamin B12, the ability of this to get into your body is somewhat debatable. Hence, the Bionic BoP has Jenny.
1 Where is your get up and go!0 -

1) Slept well enough, despite Isis deciding at 2am that she had recovered from her fear of the dehumidifier and wanted to play - she seemed rather miffed when I didn't!
2) Found a minor plus point to these 'orrible tablets I'm taking - they're killing my appetite so much I've lost about half a stone in the past three weeks.
3) Got an appointment with the counselling people with only just over a week to wait - much less than the four to five weeks my GP warned me to expect.
4) The broken fence panel has finally been replaced - the lack of creak... BANG, creak... BANG! will definitely help with my sleep problems!
5) Got some anti-anxiety tablets for Isis and apparently they're very tasty - her food vanished in record time, even with the tablet mixed in.Back after a very long break!0 -
Scrabble latest, live.
BoPsie is on 166. I am in the Dog House on 427. Any one want to take on the champion?
And out on a treble double 7 letterer, reassign! Oh, the night is young, but the marmite crumpets are on the way! Oh, 116 for that, I thank you all.
Chief MSE, are you up for a charity challenge?0
