Oh skint - what alarums, but thank goodness you've sorted son out. Is your computer still playing up? Tap his bot with Little Book of Calm when he arrives home. Meantime, here's your beverage...just as you like it.

    1. Just in after a fine Fitzwilliam and Alma day. Poetry and artistry in both, if of disparate degree and execution i.e. potters and ruggers. Back to Fitzwilliam tomorrow. Half-time, outside the Alma, attention was drawn to a young man being 'coached' back into parking space by a much older man. [I would have zapped him to nothingness-can't stand that sort of thing] From within, engaged crowd mustered to window, looking out, offering running commentary. It was very, very witty and funny, NOT UNKIND, broadcasting participants outdoing each other to delight of all. Young man, all unaware, emerged from car. That brought a BIIIIIG cheer. Which way would he go? When he came left...mmmm, possible! Headed left again, turning into the Alma entrance... Would he? Wouldn't he? W-a-a-a-i-t!. . . YESSSSSS!!!!!!
In he came, ducking through the door. Good-looking young man, tall and well-made:-) Up went the Mightiest Cheer and Bless the Boy; still all unknowing, he looked about smiling widely, extended his arms, bowed right, bowed left, acknowledging the applause. His drink of choice was bought for him....
2 just about fair enough results - delighted for Scotland's last-gasp sneaker.
Patron came up in quiet aftermath and initiated the nicest lengthy chat, seemed genuine.

    2. Lovely post today counters cack stupidity hier, which I will sort Wednesday. Johnny Vegas's Beatrix Potter discs have arrived which I hugely look forward to. Such a generous gesture! Also, card from someone whose courage just floors me.

    3. Yesterday's visit was good, but another side was seen beforehand. The divide can be the finest line. Bad things do happen to good and OK people.

    4. Just waiting for that B&Q call. Dead fence panels down again, up again, down again, up again...then took some frozen raspberries to an elderly lady for jam, after her comment the other day. She's alone, 86, just had 2 car scrapes in a week....still somewhat shaken, but loves to drive, needs her freedom. It's tricky. Will I be like this one day? No. I don't see it so, but did she, at my age? The difference is that I have been long a solitary, even when not....

    5. The Liberty celebration - 60 years - in the Review section of today's grauniad is an absolute keeper.
    http://www.theguardian.com/books/2014/feb/21/on-liberty-edward-snowden-freedom
Blake Morrison's poem 'Prism' within this.

    6. By sheer fluke, found alternate way to do something printy on putah which has driven me mad for years.

    7. Crocheted another bootee last night.

bop - keep staying the course. A special time for you and the good Lady Bopsie. Well done Raffles, although I am deffo not of the Release School. Isis, cover your ears and don't be tempted.
5***** for your no. 1, which can be found/recognised in unlikely places for v.v. little. Sells well too in lunnontown, that which I don't keep.

Frith - hope things have been a bit calmer today, for all of you. Bless that timely allocation of allotment which will come into its cathartic own after such days.

    Welcome chinagirl:-)

It's all happening in the Ukraine....we live in a remarkable age to have this transmitted to us in real time. I know that sounds v. boring old phart, but it bears a moment's pause, just to consider . . .
Why do I feel the need to say I completely distrust rebekah brooks' latest one-woman witness box displays.

Hope master frith on road to recovery frith
bop better score needed in 2nd leg. Try 5-0. Works for me ;-)
Your day sounds fab ampers hope all shoe laces well tied in fitzwilliam
Well done on your win ccp
Funny day - a mix of relaxed and panicked. So on the plus side
    1) lovely start to day. All windows open, stripped bed, on with the washing, out with the rubbish (but then it rained so no line drying but lovely to air the house)
    2) finally got round to buying letter cage (puppies are indiscernable in their chewing) and a new house number for the house.
    3) good day of sport. Scotland squeaked a victory in the 79th minute, engeland managed to hold onto theirs and the hatters won 5-0 yay
    4) cheese on toast for supper. Sometimes the easiest dishes are the scrummiest
    5) there is still a monkey in my fridge (pgtips one). It makes me laugh every time i see it cos it reminds me of the xmas convo between my supposedly adult children. Me 'why's there a monkey in my fridge' child 1 'cos we couldnt find the flamingo' child 2 'oh the flamingo's in the piano' me 'but of course!'
Knitting still going well. Half way through 3rd DW square.

    Evening all,

    BoP, that sounds very cosy.
Skint, thank goodness crisis is averted. :)
&, glad you got to the Fitzwilliam!

    Five pleasures for Saturday:

    1. Support, from you lot - thank you again - and from bestmost friend with whom I had a long, catch up chat on the phone.

    2. Both DSs went out this morning. DS1 decided to go and catch up on the work he would have done on Thursday but he'd stayed at home because of the silly day we had. DS2 went out with a friend and isn't home yet,so I've had lots of time to myself which has been productive and calm.

    3. Have stayed very focused on maximising the good weather to get on top of the washing. I even stripped my bed and aired the blankets outdoors - they smell delicious - and I did lots of line drying too.

    4. Tackled the last two kitchen cupboards that needed a sort. DS1 did all the washing up. Parcel collection was made so now the kitchen/diner is almost done.

    5. Good chat with DS1 over supper about a wide range of things.

    Sweet dreams

Yup, dd - left shoe and right shoe in welded bliss....oh., hang on. No. Luckily it's laceless pink Cotton Traders today. Can tie them together if you like, but I do natural clumsy without such aids, oh so easily.:D

I've posted this before: it is always worth watching:

    1. I saw the most beautiful rainbow as I was stuck in traffic on the M25 yesterday :)

    2. A fabulous evening with my chums down Brighton way, I couldn't ask for better company (well, it would have been 100% perfect had DD come with me)

    3. Knowing that DD was safe, sound and happier here and that she did have the choice of not coming with me.

    4. Bought some YS kitchen utensils, as well as being cheap, they're portion-control friendly: a wee cheese grater with tub that lets you measure out what one or two people should ideally have (rather than the half a lb I probably chuck on my baked potato.....) and a slotted spoon for veg (that I don't need to make sure I get enough of those lovelies, I wish I lived nearer LFS as I'd happily wade my way through her PSB!)

    5. The joy of returning home to the dog's waggy tail, and 5 minutes on my own before parents and DD returned from visiting 'her' donkey :)

    6. Lovely cuddles with my friend's nearly 3 (where does the time go!) year daughter, I do so love being Aunty Kittikins as well as mummy.

    7. The fabulously stodgy veggie pizza I ate at the motorway services on the way home....I'm not hungover (much), just very tired...!

    8. My chum's home-made cheese sauce, the best in the world, even if she does say so herself!

    9. My bed :)

Don't seem to have had a minute to myself today because

    1. Went to my fellowship AGM this morning, surprisingly it didn't last as long as a normal monthly intergroup meeting. Grateful that no-one wanted to waffle today :p
    2. Called into m-way services on the way home to visit the little girls room (sorry if tmi) and resisted McD's, Pizza Hut, St@rbucks, KFC, Greggs and another food outlet which I don't know the name of to go home and have
    3. lentil and bacon soup for lunch. How righteous do I feel?!
    4. Took laundry out of wm and hung out on the line
    5. Two loaves of bread made, one for DNeighbour for looking after muttley while I was out yesterday
    6. Invited for a cuppa with DNeighbour who had just taken a tray of Chelsea buns out of the oven. Made up for my goodness at lunchtime :D
    7. Gardening this pm
    8. Ironing the bedding this evening
    9. Casualty...if I can stay awake through it

    Sweet dreams :)
  • mcculloch - "something high impact" - there will always be someone who feels they Have To Comment.
Broomstick - you tell your medics where they come in priorities! Hurrajh with plans, good friends & already-ready-to-move kitchen! <Stunned Awe> DS1 sounds worth his weight in line dried clean bedlinen!
Frith - very glad to hear you are all well enough to enjoy the allotment if not the National Trust. Hope your medics are as mentally nimble as the 24 hour lady...
DD - pub tea sounds good & well done on Another Square! Cheese on toast a sure & certain comfort & LOVE the family convo re:monkey, flamingo, piano.
sparrer - hope you've recovered from motorway mayhem, that the boots fit & that the CCP paperwork rolls smoothly. Ironing bedding? Best excuse for wrinkles I've got!

Skint yet again - yellow stuff & beach walk? Brilliant thinking of home visit BTW. Hellfire the young can't half give us exciting times. There'd better be some *spectacular* presents... Might UK Customs help him break in to get an extra few layers, if asked nicely?!
BoP - many thanks for recipe - younger generation will be taught it shortly! "Do not exercise your passion for economy on cheap linen": Dashed right.
CCP - hoping tutorial went as well as blue tit? I can almost smell the bacon, swede and lentil soup from here...!
Ampersand - The Alma has a robust approach to its entertainments - glad the well-made young 'un had the grace to appreciate it! Every confidence you will face down 86 with grace & charm when you finally get there. Ukraine in realtime is surreal. I just wish the credits would roll & I could believe it had stopped.
kittikins - well done spotting that rainbow, glad you had a good time with friends (& likewise Daughter with family & donkey) & hug 3yr olds as often as possible.

    OS Pleasures today
Assorted medical callups for family entered into phone. Took me three tries to realise one does *not* clash with a visit to Granny, so menfolk laughing at me over breakfast table.

Admired husband's handiwork in period authentic scabbard making.(The 99% entirely right home for a Christmas blade, just made with aircraft glue.)

Husband made a gravy so rich & meaty, it almost merited a pastry case.

Sons snuggled down to watch Hobbit 2 (of 3?!) & cheerfully assassinated characters provided by Hollywood rather than JRRT. That they didn't recognise the stunner from Being Human amused me considerably.

Got a pile of oddments into the bay of E on a free listing weekend - given my usual lack of organisation, I was caught by surprise!

Big hugs to all who need them, all the best staying dry and always know where the various bits of your hoover-type-thing are (as playing "I'm sure it was here" is Not a pleasure)

Tired! Will just post my pleasures quickly.

    1) A lie in!

    2) Smaller son still getting better and not protesting against foul tasting/smelling antibiotic liquid as long as he can do it himself.

    3) Went swimming with sons and my brother.

    4) Played a tiny bit of football behind the village hall this afternoon.

    5) Fish and chips from the van. Unfortunately, smaller son decided to run round and round the village hall while I was standing at the van waiting for our food and fell over with his hand in his trouser pocket. He's been sitting all evening with his hand wrapped in frozen peas and it looks like his little finger might be broken. :-/ We're in denial for now and will see if it is less fat in the morning. He says he is too embarrassed to go to the 24 hour place twice in one week! He's already broken one finger, a couple of years back in an argument with a car door...

    6) Before the chip/finger incident as we were crossing the road, smaller son said, "That's one of those Vauxhall Viagras". :-D :-D

    7) Enjoyed watching the Voice and Casualty.

Looking forward to tomorrow as brother is coming with us to look at the allotment for the first time then we're all off to brother in laws for a reprise to Dungeons and Dragons. :-)

Hello, Sunday evening here and need to go and think about cooking some dinner...need inspiration!

    A few weekend pleasures:

Lovey chat with a friend from home, first catch up since we were home.

Saturday scone was a little under cooked but had a good mooch through the papers.

Went out for dinner with OH, as all little people were out and about. Went to restaurant where old main colleague now works, didn't think she would be working but she was so had a quick catch up with her which was nice. She is happy where she's working now.

Did a bit of gardening...pruned and pruned. I find it very therapeutic I snipping away.

Had work today, kept busy. Drove there and back.

Started a library book yesterday and finished it today . Have suggested DD1 reads it too. Nice just to relax and read.

It's almost DD2's birthday so gave her money and sent her shopping with her sister ( they are very different in their idea of a good shopping spree....DD 1 would spend her time in book shops and DD2 in fashion shops ...however they had a successful time. DD2 got loads and I mean loads in the sales and still has cash left!) it meant I did not have to trail around shops...so win win!

broomstick hoping that you find somewhere nice to live. At least you have a good couple of months to look and get the right place for you and your boys.

skintos hope son has a safe trip home and has lots to tell you of his adventures.

sparrer you might have had a Gregg's sausage roll for me!!

frith what a boy! Hope he's okay in the morning!

chicken and tealady hope you're both okay?

    pirate Pete go Jenny!

Have a great Sunday....still not inspired but will need to feed the hoards.
