Thanks. I keep telling myself that I mustn't lose my temper, however much the stupid policy deserves it! What annoys me is that HR know all about the reasons for my absence as it all went through occ health at the time, and now they're dragging it all up again 6 months later - it feels almost like harassment to me.
Thanks all for good wishes re little sis - I'm keeping a close watch on my phone for any updates.Back after a very long break!0 -
Good morning world
ampersand I'm definitely saying s*d the heating bills, as my dear ex used to say any idiot can be cold. Re The Office, I've discovered there's one in Stevenage (or St. Evenage - pronounced in your best French accent - as it's aka locally ) so may pop in when I'm next there. Well done on your haul
CCP thoughts are with you re the disciplinary - ask why such a procedure is thought necessary. You need to know exactly what's written on your HR record, I believe you have to read, approve and sign? I may be wrong but that's the way it used to be. Don't sign if you're not happy! Sending get well vibes for your sister
mhags drooling at fish and chips, do they have 'proper' chippies in Oz? Used to wonder why peeps had b&b with chips, til I had a chip butty....wonder no more, they're heaven!
chicken hope poor tiny terrier is feeling better, gentle hugs and scratched behinds the ears to her. Oh yes I do indeed recall the commando thread, won't disclose too much (pun intended) don't want to shock the newer 'members' into thinking we're a wanton - or should that be want off?! -lot
Kittikins (((hugs))) remember the saying 'this too shall pass' - every day will be a little bit better than the previous one. Lovely encouraging words from uni tutor, he/she must see these emotions all the time so knows what they're talking about
PK like you I don't have the art of conversation, odd how we can chatter away on the forum though. Congrats on winning the dvd set, what a good saving
Frith I love the idea of a wrapping 'mountain' for the climbers chalk, am always looking for ideas for novel wrappings and this one could lead to all sorts of variations. My admiration for your patience with the therapist, you must get so frustrated at them telling you what is wrong!
Vicky 34, pah! Wait til you're my age (a tad older than ampersand) 34 isn't anywhere near growing up age, nor is mine. One day I plan to grow old very disgracefully and wear purple and a red hat, or the other way around, just to really confuzzle folks! Meanwhile well done on the saving for the blind, it's sometimes fun to play grown-up's but only for a little while
DD re road kill £9 is a good haul, was telling friends about it a few days ago and they're now all walking around with they eye's down. What a lovely feeling it must have been, getting that reaction from your colleagues
VJsmum hope you're not feeling so odd after an early-ish night. Felt a bit at a loose end myself last night so mopped the skirting boards at 11pm! Another one with fish for tea, think I know what I'm going to have this evening...
Broomstick (and others who've mentioned Dr Who) I've never watched a single episode all the way through! I don't like 'weird'. Feel better now re allergies
lisakay pleased your DH is through the op, and on his feet so soon. They'll have them running marathons next!
BoP Bacon? Fishcakes? Next thing we know you'll be giving Mr Raffles a full English every Sunday
Skint pleased you're feeling a bit better. Sounds like fun filling the stocking for your DS, quite sad I don't have that job to do any more
LFS congrats on getting unstapled. The bag lady hats sound fun, might try making similar m'self. Perhaps embellish them with cat faces, club badges, etc to suit the recipient
DFV congrats to youngest on the badge, well done Onions. And well done your DH not being averse to buying rtc's, definitely a step in the right direction.
mcculloch ooh, bright red jeans sound super, as does getting into them
Tealady 20% off shoes? I'm green with envy, I love shoes as the floors of my wardrobes will prove. The soup sound lovely and warming, I'll be borrowing that idea
Get well soon poorlies and take heart, this time next month it'll all be over! (just kidding - maybe)
1. Whereas normal people would go to Newmarket to purchase or put money on horses, my DD and I are going on Sunday to put a deposit on her C-word present from me, which will be harness-trained but has only two legs, a beak and at the moment very few meagre feathers beginning to sprout
2. Just composed a note to put on line/text etc., to all my friends that I'm only sending cards to close family this year, and giving £1 for everyone I usually buy a card for (about 80) to WaterAid. Everyone has their own favourite charities which I completely respect, this is mine as nothing/nobody in the world could live without water. I know it makes sense so why do I still feel a bit guilty about it?
3. Been asked if I'd like to have tea with someone before taking her to tomorrow evening's meeting. She's staying at Champney's which is 3 miles from me so yes please, and my curiosity will at last be sated
4. two consecutive nsd/npd's
5. Dog bathed, dog and cat groomed. Just need to dehair the kitchen and myself of their coats now!
Have a sunny rest of the day whatever the weather0 -
VickyA glad to hear your OH is doing so well after his op
Mhags... fish and chips nom nom.... haven't had them for ages
Kittikins glad you are feeling less stressed this week.
CCP hope your sister is soon sorted and well again x
and you have my sympathy re work ... I too am on disciplinary after returning to work today2 days off last week part time so that's now 5 days over 2 occasions in last 12 months.... hardly a huge amount imho!

Thanks all for the sympathy and support re today's disciplinary interview. It turns out that my previous line manager didn't complete a particular form so, even though I was in regular contact with her and with our occ health department the whole time, it didn't 'officially' count. A record will be made on my HR file but, following your advice sparrer, I insisted that a note be added stating that, as far as I was concerned, all the paperwork was in order. As long as I don't have another operation in the next six months, that will be an end to it, thank goodness.
Skint - five days in 12 months is nothing - my 'record' is currently at 18 days! (Being signed off for three weeks will do that.)
Kittikins - aaw, hugs to you - I'm sure you'll be fine. It's a lot to take in, but it will be worth it when you graduate as a fully-fledged teacher.
Sadly no news on my sister - I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. :undecided
1) Popped home in my lunch break as a parcel was being delivered, so I got an extra dose of Isis cuddles.
2) Took a packed lunch into work - soup, HM bread and an apple - and ate it even thought I wasn't really hungry. (Stress and worry always make me lose my appetite, sadly.)
3) Decent quantities of yellow thing all day, and it hasn't been as cold as it was for the last couple of days.
4) Pub quiz tonight, which will distract me a little if nothing else.
Have a pleasant evening, everyone.

Here is Raffles. And he is Big
And aka Lightfoot. You do not hear him pounce. He chases the putah's cursor. Witty. And yes, bit young for a full English. Bet he cannot cope with Snorkers.
Hugs, to needy, and juices and what is this Santa Beard. No beard rubs for all today. That one is ll fluffy and made of cotton wool. Oh, and the haka. Saw to King of Tonga do that on Friday.
5 Website update. Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrhg. Dun.
4 Cricketers lie children. Sledging has been in years and years. Just ignore or get on it. Lie the bit about tommo and boycott. Tommo did not sledge boycott because he was above it.
3 Raffles actually crept in last night. And long snaked for a while. Good as gold.
2 Nite is Scrabble nite. Updates later.
1 What happens on the field, hall remain on the field.
Oh, CCP. Ten months. As far as I am concerned, the fit note is the one that says I am ill, not HR.0 -
Good evening all !
VJsmum -I fort so :rotfl:
Sparrer -a bird in a harness - 50 shades of turkey?? :rotfl::rotfl:
CCP - I agree with BoP xx Fingers still crossed for your DSis x

2. Took newbie bloke to one of my meetings and told him to advise the others in the meeting that he is a "silent observer ". Which he did and was .The meeting could have got a bit nasty but the Company have agreed to work with us to put things right at their end in order to renew our dealings with them.
3.Went to the second visit on own, I function better on my own.:D

Frith - Surely Farming Today?...for tomorrow?
1. Bed any day now. hwb - yumyum. Might have hot choc as well and a bit of i-player antiques. Can't wait. Day of bleak and no-horizon grey is no temptation to my yellow thing soul. Besides, left exciting near end of book for...
2. Dr, hopes. Next appt in a fortnight. Also says another week/10days before face no longer discoloured. Will ring NZ Embassy re: p/p pic demain.
3. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03jb1w1 - its dark gestation has haunted me for years, since I first heard it from Billie Holliday.
4. Ditto sparrer, re: being warm[&learning to be kind to self, long lesson]and good luck @ The Works. Knew St Ockwell, but not St Evenage - like! Final ditto - Water Aid. Finally sorted sth from pension only a few weeks ago. Felt ashamed it took me so long, after hearing a prog. earlier this year. Well, I'm with them now. And Amnesty. And Mara via Church. And Sarcoma. And Dr's Aid Mission. And a quick wiki one-off earlier, when the little yellow donation banner popped up. I use wiki a lot, which is not to say blindly, but it is a wonderful resource.
5. Chq sent re:sth for l-h+em's and various calls. Email to an authority on sth - fingers x'd for reply. A touch more certainty on provenance would be wonderful.
dd - unsure what was meant by 'Shame about the rugger ampers. ' Looked pretty from where I was:D.
bop - so Raffles gets his first start tonight? Hope he's not too tired to upend t'board when he red cards you for bedtime. You'll be lucky not to be clinging on the mattress edge before long. Had 2 cats like this who went deadweight anchor if any move-over displacement nonsense was attempted....and that little peep of pinkie tongue. I like this above 'my' Watching Seat in The Alma: 'Sports don't build character; they reveal it.'[J. Wooden]
kittikins - dkh I missed your post, but v. glad to see it. Just think of being the Mrs Cornforth of Napier Intermediate in 1960, starting lunchtime French Club. It shapes my life still.
-and I have spooky men on again. I don't tire of them.
Comforts and cuddles and cuppas to all.

For someone who freaks out in crowds I did well today, I was in the London bridge travel chaos, I got over to Victoria and the place was so packed people were taking photo’s, I took stock looking at coffee shops wondering if to sit it out, it was so packed I couldn’t get away from where I was when again I swear someone was looking out for me, a train pulled in literally to where I was pondering what to do. It was going as close to home as I was going to get tonight, to Orpington, and eventually from when I left at 5 to get to my now cancelled physio apt at 6pm DH picked me up and we got home at 8pm. Phew, my kindle kept me calm when I felt the waves of panic as people crammed and shouted on the train.
1. Home
2. I didn’t need my arm twisting when DH said order in.
3. The animals woke up and deemed to come see me.:o
4. Work was not ok so not a pleasure, continuing the job hunt tonight.
5. The amazon thing I won yesterday has already been delivered,:j makes me feel a bit guilty having seen the news piece on it last night.:o
6. Getting my hair trimmed tomorrow this is also freaking me out as I only like people with long hair cutting long hair, experience tells me this, watch this space tomorrow.:rotfl:
Sorry I've not caught up on all the posts, yet.0
