  • I've read through and I've retained precisely nothing. had a shocker of a day and struggling to play along with things to be thankful for!

autoglass have somehow broken my car/trapped a wire/caused a short circuit. had a fantastic AA man working on it for over 3 hrs. will have to take it to a garage tomorrow to try and get it sorted and also get the aa report to autoglass saying they are to blame. they did offer to pay if they were found to be at fault, while insisting they couldn't be at fault.

managed to get a lift to the hospital and back with the girls. DH walking around when we got there. :D girls were very well behaved and charmed all the old fellas (DH youngest on the ward by about 40 years)
off to bed now, leaving the house in disarray because i'm struggling to work up the energy to face the stairs never mind the cleaning. have early drop-offs for littlies in the morning arriving by 8 so must get sleep. when I read through tomorrow i'll try and remember what you've all been upto and i'll be in a better mood

Just quickly popped on to say hi. Hopefully I'll catch up properly tomorrow.... :o On the plus side, I've managed to do a lengthy thing for school which was necessary but not particularly enjoyable. ;)

    Anyway, my 5 for today:

    1) NSD :j

    2) Delicious salmon with pesto from Jamie's Ministry of Food.

    3) Found some silver coins in my coat pocket for the Sealed Pot Challenge. :j

    4) Decided I'm going to do a grocery challenge. That'll be another thing to sort out tomorrow night.

    5) Erm, think that's it!

    Night all. :)

    Pleasures for today:

    1) Both sons quite happy at school.

    2) Did some Christmas shopping! I don't enjoy shopping (especially clothes shopping) so I have to set myself a challenge to get a certain number of presents. Sons have new pyjamas every Christmas Eve and this year fancied onesies so a trip to Primark was needed for those. Also discovered Paperchase on my travels - what a fab shop! Made a start on the stocking fillers too.

    3) Oh yes, got my eyebrows threaded. Sadly she ignored my request for a tidy up and nearly took them completely off. So I'll be looking surprised for a week or 2.

    4) Tasty quick tea as it was just for me of yesterday's HM soup, HM bread and a samosa.

    5) Just got off the phone to my school friend.

    6) Finally both sons' travel bugs have moved (its a geocaching thing).

    7) Watched Holby City.

    8) In bed already with a hwb and wondering if there is anything good on iplayer.

    9) And silly phone conversation with my brother about Dad being interviewed by the BBC. He is ALWAYS on Countryfile when the holly market is shown! Once he drowned John Craven out by going "Hahaha" to some other farmer in the background and he is ALWAYS eating. Apparently he stopped eating today before they asked him the questions!

Off to the solicitor's first thing to get my new will sorted out (it is will month so a nice donation to a charity rather than to the legal profession).

    1. Was thankful this morning that I knew an alternative route to my school when my usual route was closed by the police with a nasty-looking accident. Hope the people were okay, their cars were rather mangled...and people do drive way too fast along the twisty country roads.....

    2. Received a lovely email back from a friend I'm hoping to see over Christmas :)

    3. I found the best place in school to do my PPA, quietish and with good company (the business manager who is lovely :) ) - mind you, anywhere is better than sitting in what is supposed to be a staff room listening to children have their 121 reading with mummies and grannies, whilst outside, 28 children make music programmes on the computers in the next room!

    4. I left school a bit earlier than usual, with my work for tomorrow pretty much sorted! (I know I'll have my traditional , "oh I think it's completely rubbish, I need to spend another few hours tweaking it" panic in the morning.....but for now, enough is enough!)

    5. A girl in my class came up after maths asking for help with her times tables, and funnily enough, needs to work on the same ones as DD, so I'm putting together some sheets for them :)

    6. DD shot 7 goals in netball today!! Not bad for someone who only started playing a month ago (as did the others, so not sure how good the defence is...but heck, throwing a ball 7 times through the net is not to be sniffed at!!)

    7. As I got home about 10 minutes earlier due to traffic, needing to get ink for my printer and petrol for the car.....I was able to spend some lovely time cuddling and chatting to DD.

    8. Tomorrow should be fun and busy putting things together for an open afternoon on Thursday. I'm looking forward to meeting some of my class' parents, especially the cutie who I awarded a good behaviour certificate to last week :)

Evening, I am all tucked up in my beddy.

Ampersand - should of would of could of are one of my most hated things. And bored of. My kids get the grammar police onto them pronto if they use any of these.
Frith, you remind me I should have ()made carrot soup today
Kittikins, glad you got over your fit of the collywobbles. It was many years into my career when I stopped pausing outside a lecture theatre, deep breath, "I don't want to do it" open the door, spotlight and you're on! I have a session on Thursday that I only do once a year to those who wish to become chartered so they've lots of experience. Still nerve wracking
Mhagster - groan. There is no such thing as too hot ;)
Sparrer - good idea re the Christmas cards
Skint - how annoying to keep going over the same old stuff. My place has many faults but they are rather good for things like that
LFS - glad you slept well, best thing to aid recovery. I would be rubbish if I were in your position
cCP good luck with the pub, quiz, it's the one thing I am rather good at - mine of useless information, that's why :rotfl:
BoP as you have no TV this wont mean anything to you but "soft kitty warm kitty, little ball of fur" you should sing it to LFS :D
Chicken- did newbie bloke have to mime :rotfl:
Ampersand - "hey chief, I might be wrong..." I think I Probably know them all off by heart.
PK don't know what kicked off in London, but glad you survived
Lisakay take it easy. You need to recover too
Vicky - more fish. W have been a fishy lot lately

    My pleasures

1 made my Christmas cake, so the house has smelled lovely all day and the oven kept the kitchen warm while I worked, also made 4 small cakes in ramekins to ice for dads hampery thing
2 brief walk round the block in the chilly but bright sunshine
    3 also made flapjacks, yummy
4 salmon en croquet thing for tea from Ald! Was lovely
5 went shopping with DD briefly. She needed a new coat, was not MSE except that it is a classic style that could last years. I haven't bought her a coat for about 3 years so can't complain.

    That's me, nighty night all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    4) finished a meeting on main campus at 5. Bumped into a couple of students who are also in the cathedral choir. They were off to evensong with our provost presiding and the uni choir singing so went along. It wqs beautiful.
    5) band practice and i didnt have time to change in between. Hmmm dress too tight to play accordion sitting down with any decorum!

VJsmum - I get so nervous before each lesson and somehow I occasionally relax into it and enjoy. Today was one of those days. My phrase to myself is: "It's showtime!".

    Evening all. :)

VJsmum, please don't worry about the vegboxes. Continuing with them was not part of the deal!
Pk, I'm impressed with the X**s shopping too! I only got this far ahead because I thought I was going to be out of action for most of December but I've put that off until next year.:)
(((((Kk))))) Get yourself a little notebook and every time someone notices something fabulous about your teaching write it down, and that includes notes about children's laughter and smiles. Keep adding to it until you've turned the corner (and beyond), but it sounds as if today was heaps better anyway.
Lisakay, Autoglass once gave me a whole new windscreen for free after they'd botched a repair on a chip in it. Be firm with them. :D

    My five pleasures for Tuesday:

    1. The absolutely wonderful news that DS1 has now got his OU degree with a 2:1.:T His final course grade was sent today. (And he has no student debt. :j)

    2. The fantastic reaction from his grandparents when he told them on the phone. He'd kept the fact that he'd been doing the degree hidden from them for all this time and so this was news completely out of the blue. They were over the moon.:D

    3. There was an unexpected free pot of fresh veg soup with my veg order today as a thank you for passing on the A&C voucher to a third person. Had the soup for my supper. Delicious.

    4. Have just found £5 in coins tucked away in a pot - obviously when I was having a savings moment but I'd forgotten it was there. I probably should search in more hidey places just in case :D

    5. Kept to the eating plan.

Sweet dreams (typed that first as 'sweet drams' - must be time for bed :))

    B x
  • ((hugs)) Lisakay x

VJsmum- no he didn't mime thankfully . I am out with him all day today :( . I can't bear it....

Frith - you mean the eyebrow thread didn't hurt??

Have a good day all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

Oh yes there is! It is currently 32o and evening time....I have turned back into sweaty Betty ( no offence to any Bettys out there,)

Better mood today ... I really need to get back into the workforce but I'm waiting until I come back from UK as no one would take me on to give me 3 weeks off.

Anyway, I went into next town to buy diluting juice from UK that tennis players drink. One of the cheapy shops sells it so as I am off the diet fizz I need something else. It is the only place I have seen it sold so I stock up when I can.

Bought myself ...in the sales as she tries to justify....3 tops and a skirt and pair of trackie trousers for travelling in that were reduced to $5.

Made mince and tattles for tea with dumplings , finally finding a suet mix. Mashed carrot and turnip and cauliflower and peas and yep! I'm absolutely stuffed!

Made flourless chocolate cakes , still to be tried but look nice.

    Finished a book.

sparrer chips here are nothing like chips back home! They are a lot 'drier' , not greasy at all. They are often covered in chicken salt! And you don't buy a bag of chips, you get minimum chips....1 minimum chips is enough for me and the girls and OH and DS will have fish and chips. We are used to them now that I think Scottish deep fried chips would be too greasy.....though I might try when I get home! We never had them at all last year.

Have a lovely day ...stay warm ;)
