Mchags..So sorry to hear about OH not getting there in time. Big hugs.
1. Work was ok.
2. Lunch in the local park, reading the kindle in the cloudy sunshine.
3. Made an appalling dinner, so dh has it for lunch tomorrow as he loved it, I put RTC meatballs in a pasta bake but it made it taste greasy to me yuck...:rotfl:
4.Feel a bit lazy I must get of my bum but dark nights are doing nothing, just looking into some adult education courses.0 -
Oh Mhags, what an awfully sad journey to make - hugs to you all.
Chicken - yay for the rings! :j
A quickie as I'm supposed to be packing
FOr yesterday
1. walked into town with wally the trolley and then home, very nice in the warm sun
2. got my bits waxed (sorry if that's TMI), and did an amount of shopping stuff.
3. 2 loads of washing out and nearly dried
4. managed to write the lecture that colleague is delivering on Friday for me
5. did some baking whilst writing said lecture - lemon drizzle, lemon curd and tea loaf
And today
1. Drove to work, which was good as i'd never have got home in time for various chores
2. Great teaching session with masters students - haven't taught them for a couple of years and really enjoyed it.
3. I had a KS 4 parent's meeting at school to talk about option subjects now DS has started them. Meeting was really worthwhile and really enjoyed my walk to and from school - there are still some beautiful flowers in bloom in local gardens - roses and dahlias (my fave), were especially glorious.
4. OH came home from the course he was/is on as I am going tomorrow, I am back next tues and he goes next Thursday on his pals holiday.
5. Took goddaughter's "leaving for uni" pressie to her - there were a gratifying amount of "ooh's" and "aahs" (did her a hamper thing with a wok, some herbs and spices, pasta sauces, biscuits, chocolate and Malibu!)
Right, my empty suitcase needs filling. I expect you will hear from me when the jet lag kicks in  "OPPA GANGNAM STYLE!" :rotfl:I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
What a shame, MHagster - I'm sorry to hear about your father in law.
Chicken - hoorah for the rings!
Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Both sons to school on time. Smaller son resplendent in new dark blue jumper.
2) He was very good (so I was told) and had a tour of the school with Mrs Honey (not her real name) who took some photos of everything for him to bring home.
County STILL haven't sorted his paperwork out so I had to sign him in as a guest!
3) I had a wander about and bought a cup of tea whilst waiting for him - only 3 hours at school today.
4) Tasty tea of baked potatoes etc plus cherry pie and custard.
5) Popped into the library and chanced upon David Walliams autobiography. I can't say I am a fan of his particularly but it is fascinating. 200 pages read since teatime!
6) Brother in law texted to ask if we want to go there for bigger son's birthday and he will cook tea!
7) Bigger son did some science homework without an argument.
So not too bad! Smaller son has just told me his school worries for tomorrow. He doesn't dare go outside at break time because "how will he know when to come back in?" He says he will not have his lunch in the canteen tomorrow as he doesn't know what he is supposed to do when he has finished eating it or when lunchtime will end. I think Mrs Honey is going to have to make him a good old pictorial timetable! Also, no one pointed out where the toilet was today (and he wouldn't ask) so by the time he got in my car I almost had to carry him into Sainsburys (just down the road) to go there!0 -
Righty ho here we go...
1. more grape juice bottled (and drunk)
2. Chips from the chip shop for tea!! Just couldn't be a****d!
3. Another 2 rows of tatties in their shed..ow my legs!
4. Afternoon delights
5. The kitchen surfaces are covered in fruit and veg. No room to even put down a plate:D and NOT doing it until tomorrow is a pleasure for today! There's celery to be frozen for soup, and carrots. Apples to cook, tomatoes to sauce, courgettes and peppers..yay!!2013 NSD 100. VJ'smum, safe journeys to you.
Got caught up watching The Midwives and now a bit too tired to post pleasures, but thanks all for yours.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Thanks for all your kind wishes. I had known this lovely gentleman for 25 years and he has been a great father in law and an amazing grandfather.
Thursday pleasures:
( a dreadful night's sleep was not one of them, however!)
talking to my husband on the phone, being grateful for unlimited international calls.
chat with friend this morning before heading to work.
work....what can I say? I have only known these amazing people for just a few weeks and today they took such good care of me! Hugs, the most beautiful bouquet of flowers : cala lillies, yellow chrysanthemums and white carnations. They are stunning. Was made to sit down and have breakfast before I started and had my new fave avocado on toast and a cup of peppermint tea
Just half a day at work and a quick drive home as it wasn't rush hour.
Home to my kids and giving and receiving love and support from them.....telling funny stories of their grandfather.
Ordering some books from Amazon and getting free postage as OH can bring 'em back!!
The weather is shocking! Stormy and so wild and blooming freezing again, yesterday we were all too warm and now I have the heating on in the afternoon as it's so chilly!
Have a lovely day, give your loved ones an extra hug and let them know they are loved.

1 Days are short, nights are long. Chuck a log on the fire and ing a song.
2 gether with ms BoPsie, and cat. Cat is snug on his dads legs. Only jumps up when Ms aboP appears.
4 Every one needs a wiggle!0 -
1) My lightbox is making me feel at least a small amount better - I'm still pretty sleepy but at least feel less down.
2) Ordered some snack bars from my veg box company as they were on SO, then found when I received them that they have a chocolate coating which wasn't mentioned in the description. _pale_ They've given me my money back and said I can keep the bars, which I'm sure someone at work will enjoy!
3) Deciding to abandon my meal plan and have beans on toast for dinner, just because I fancy it.
4) The mealworms I put out for the birds yesterday are all gone - it looks like my bird feeder is starting to gain some visitors.
5) Pub quiz tonight, which will at least get me out of the house rather than just curling up on the sofa which is generally my preferred option at this time of year.Back after a very long break!0
