chicken I was cleaning the bathroom the other day and though 'I bet those rings are in one of her rubber gloves' then decided it would be a silly thing to suggest as only I would do something so daft...
    (((mhags)))
PK people who criticise more often than not feel inferior, have a chip on their shoulder. Just feel sorry for them :)

    1. So lovely having my friend to stay, though I'm exhausted! We've been sightseeing, we've shopped til we dropped, we've eaten all the wrong foods - we're having a terrific time!
    2. Bought a brand new with tags Per Una dark pink sweater in a cs for £7, originally £29
    3. My friend bought a pair of M&S jeans but they're just too short for her. Luckily they fit me perfectly :D
    4. Shopped in M&S food hall, with birthday vouchers I've had in my purse for two years! Got some very yummy treats
    5. The new wind farm on a hill two miles away was working today. I could watch them for hours, they're mesmerising. Some locals objected although they're nowhere near any houses, personally I'd rather have a hundred on my doorstep, that a nuclear reactor a hundred miles from my doorstep :p

    Sweet dreams :)

Morning all, cant believe how dark the mornings are getting already!

((((Hugs)))) to Frith & younger son, PK & CCP. Hope you are all feeling better today x

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Lovely sunrise & red sky at 7am but the shepherds warning was in vain. Turned into a lovely sunny day so I got 2 loads of washing done and dried... forecast is for showers today...

    2. good support at work for MacMillan coffee morning. I took muffins and they sold quickly

    3. DS PASSED HIS DRIVING TEST !! :j
Sorry to shout but am overjoyed for him. Lessons have cost a small fortune
He only got 1 minor fault ...hesitation when overtaking a cyclist.... "Think Bike!".. I say !

    4. Ex-OH came round to congratulate DS & gave me money to pay for DS's car in full ! :j:j

I had loaned DS the money (a small inheritance from when dear gran passed away and it took me 3 years to save the rest!!) to save him from getting a bank loan and paying interest. DS was paying me back monthly over 12 months. Maybe I can now "treat myself" to that laminate flooring for the hallway and get rid of the scanky carpet that I have scrubbed to within an inch of its life to no avail ! ;)

    5. DS treated us to indian food, delivered free & 20% off voucher :p

Have a good weekend everyone x
    0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗
House sale OCT 2022 = NOW MORTGAGE FREE 🤗
House purchase completed FEB 2023 🥳🍾 Left work. 🤗

Retired at 55 & now living off the equity £10k a year (until pensions start at 60 & 67).

Well done master skint and master frith things will get easier and new school will soon become familiar.

Sitting on my new to me sofa in my office...listening to the birds in one ear a DD2 yakking in the other!

Woke up bright and early...just as well , was called in to work early.
Had another crazy day but I do love it!

Was Footy finals day today....no customers so we closed 3 hours early! Drove home in 6 minutes instead of 12 or so....no traffic on the roads....the nation almost comes to a halt to watch the footy.....as I say , it goes totally over my wee Scottish head!

Came home and had.....the most amazing lemon ,polenta and ricotta cake...sandwiched with lemon marscapone with a few toasted almonds on! Slurp! We have a very talented baker who is only 20 years old and makes the most amazing creations every day. If there are any leftovers we gets to bring them home. Fresh bread is made daily so again if there's any left we get it...came home with a few loaves today, as we were so quiet after lunch. They'll go in the freezer!

Chickadees out and about again so peace and quiet...until DD2 came back in...she talks so fast she forgets to breathe!

A beautiful email from my SIL, that made me cry.
The kids and I had written memories of their grandfather that we wanted included in the funeral service. OH took this home with him...was hard to write as he hadn't passed away at that point but we knew he would.
SIL thanked me for writing them and for lending her my OH.
She is very welcome....it is right that he is with his family.....his other family can manage without him for a few weeks.

He went to see my mum last night and she kept our dog when we moved ....the dog was so pleased to see him...I miss my dog!

He also went to visit our oldest friends and I was on phone to him just before I went in to work....so they shouted hello down the phone...was funny!

Phoned my best friend back home and had a good chat with her, miss her too but we catch up a few times through the week...thank goodness for unlimited international calls :) makes being out here so much easier.

Working today with the most kindly gentle soul from Chile, we've never worked a shift together...I thought he was 19.. He's 31! A lovely person and a pleasure to work with! Working with a fabulous person every day who I just get on so well with...we make each other laugh, we both left crap jobs and both love our new job!
Working with a funny, talented chef for the past 2 weeks ( her last day today) she has made me laugh so hard and taught me how to make sausages :) working with a creative 20 year old baker....who calls me her other mum! Working with another chef who is so keen to share his knowledge with me.
This week they have been so kind and concerned for me and my family and I think they're all great.....having so cried so much in my last job it is so rejuvenating to smile and laugh in my new one! ( and I get free cake:))

Have a lovely jubbly Saturday :)
  • There is no room to swing the Cat in here! What has bin 'ppening with you. Just because I switched the main light box off, already peoples have bin complaining. Come on, get some real cheer in your lives from me, otherwise I will warm your tackles with a good swing from my cat!

5 Poor Ms BoPsie says I really had the tigers the other nite, apparently the [STRIKE]ex[/STRIKE] Ms BoPsie woke me up on Friday morn. I know, I closed the door. This was to protect Ms BoP from the tigers. There were out again last nite, and now Ms BoP is getting worried. Think I may had a wobbleade too far

4 And I am in the Dog House as well.

3 Full Anglais for breakfast, with snorkers and poached eggs. Washed down with tea and Raspberry Jam on toast.

2 gether with Ms BoP to do the football later. And our Tiger. Just that our cat is so too stupid. Last nite we put the chicken out, and within minutes it was back through the flap. This morning the fat cat had no breakfast! Yet why does he love them W8Flowers Spagyetti hoops sauce. Adores it does he!

1 On your bike! Well, it is the free gym!
  • Good afternoon all !

VJsmum - I bet you miss "The Tamworth " snoring over the other side of the world...or can you hear it from there? :rotfl::rotfl:Tidy House and all that ;)

LFS - loving your blog and "Sister Mary Klaus " of course ;) Loved that dress too x

Skintos- well done to your DS !

Mcculloch- thank you. Me too :D- the whole of my left side has no feeling , due to post Op. Neurosurgery . I am used to it now as the Op. was in 1998 .I wouldn't hesitate to have a "wobbly dog " or a hearing or sight impaired hound or horse! I am glad to hear that the lovely Dr.C is on the mend x

    5 for yesterday

    1. Day off

    2. Had put two loads of washing on the line, walked the terrier, and prepared and put OH's dinner in the slow cooker by 9am

    3. Which is why I fell asleep ...at midday:rotfl:

    4. Went out for a meal with my ex work colleagues , which was nice :D

    5. Got home at 8pm , the house was in darkness and OH and the terrier were asleep on the bed and had been since 5.30pm !

    1) Set the BM going, on the timer, before going to bed last night so I woke up (rather late :o) to the smell of fresh bread.

    2) Had some of the bread with gravadlax for brunch: one of the pleasures of clearing out the freezer is eating my way through all the smoked and cured fish I got on SO a few months ago.

    3) Made two jars of nectarine jam and two of nectarine jelly; the jelly is the result of adding too much water, which I had to strain off so the jam would set - I have no idea what I'll do with the resulting lightly-set, fruity liquid but it tasted too good to waste!

    4) Cut all the remaining leaves off my tomato and chilli plants so the fruit has a better chance of ripening - it's a mildly depressing job but it's good when it's done.

    5) Braised steak for dinner tonight, made with a bottle of stout my team won in a pub quiz months ago.
Back after a very long break!
  • Thank you Chicken. Wobblies unite.:D Our disabled pets were a gerbil that had fits and a cockatiel that developed diabetes. It's common in cockatiels.

When I was typing 'Wobblies unite' a memory of some graffiti popped into my mind: 'Dyslexics of The World Untie.' ;)

    Well done Skints Junior!
Dr C. passed first time, though I wonder if he would have been better getting a bit more practice, as he rolled his first car after 6 months (walked away without a scratch) but the insurance refused to cough up, a tyre was substandard. He learned a hard lesson with that one. The next car was £300, not £3000 and lasted two years as did the £400 car that followed it. The current £1200 car is lasting well. X fingers.

Something sad, but good. A few weeks ago a friend's father passed away, after suffering for 7 years with Alzheimer's. With my limited mobility, Dr C being out of action at the time and generally being out of whack, I missed the funeral and felt awful.

The said friend and myself were once an item; his Dad and the rest of the family were very kind to me. I had kept in touch with the family as the break up was completely amicable.
Today my friend's sister completed a fundraising walk for The Alzheimer's Society in his memory; I took the chance to make a donation and now feel much better.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.
  • mmmm, little miffed as to why my little quip about swinging the cat has been deleted. Come on, I am a kind of pirate and no cats would be hurt. (Cat 'o' eight tails!). Meant as a good chuckle to those who are missing the main light box. It was old ship humour and every ship had at least two cats! As for me original, it was about Cats, swinging and me fighting tigers. I have had two nightmares again!

As for swing, come on lets us Rock and Roll!

Hey BoP, I'm known for the Mrs Slocombesque jokes around these parts, me and my furry 'n' all :)

Congrats on the driving test pass, it took me 3 goes to my shame....

    1. Took Miss Kitty to my Uni today to visit the library (she was in heaven) and we both had a good chat with the library aunties

    2. We also went to a brilliant drop in session at a museum all about penicillin :) Very informative and fun :)

    3. Yummy cake and drink afterwards in the garden of a caf! - DD tried a grape hanging from the vines, but spat it out for being too bitter! Stick with the apple juice m'dear....

    4. Watched brilliant buskers in Oxford centre.

    5. Got all my preparatory printing done for this week....

...just a shame I've got a to do list as long as my arm for Monday morning :( Oh well, time to stop waffling on here and do some of it!

Awkward children again! Let's hope it is the transition to a new school that is affecting smaller son and bigger son is picking up on that. Bigger son is also going to be 13 tomorrow so is ever so slightly over excited.

Today, bigger son announced he was going shopping with MrN's son5. Shopping being 20 miles away. I was not worthy of being told any more details and had my head bitten off for asking what time he might be home. Cue MrN appearing and bigger son running off in a strop, refusing to go and throwing the pocket money I had given him back at me. (Well, that was MS at least).

Sparrer - I'm having a lot of luck in charity shops just recently. Got 4 good T shirts now (all £4 of less, 1 was 75p!), a really heavy hand knitted jumper and quite a posh top. It's amazing what you can find.

Skint - well done young Mr Skint! Weirdly, I passed mine this week but 20 years ago.

MHagster- I hope your OH is getting on OK and splendid news about the new job.
Anyway, 5 or so pleasures for today:

    1) My friend's mum came round (like a 2nd mum to me), to give bigger son a birthday card.

    2) Text from brother in law saying he is going to make burgers for bigger son's birthday tomorrow. I quote "There will be a choice of plain burger, hot chilli burger or insane nuclear burger". :-)

    3) We went on the steam train locally.

    4) Had a look round the town on the far end of the steam line. Rather than our local one at this end!

    5) Fish and chips from the travelling bus for tea.

    6) Looking after mum and dad's place for a few days. Picked some of their raspberries off for my freezer. Fed the dog, chickens and ferrets and put the geese away. Sheep all appeared to be thriving. Chickens were looking good; they are all ex battery hens now 2-3 to a 12 foot run and nest box (too many foxes and badgers to let them be completely free range). Except Mrs Grumpy who has a run to herself!

Re: disabled pets. One of the ducks that actually survived a fox attack got a nasty bite to the head. On recovery, it lived for many years but used to walk round in circles!

    7) Enjoyed Casualty this evening.
