No Sunday scone but did have 3 rtc chocolate cookies!
So another early morning start , phoned OH who had managed to catch up with some friends yesterday and buy a suit.....suitably reduced of course! Bless her cotton socks....my MIL had suggested she wear his dads blazer and flannel trousers .....but at 6" taller than his dad was he might have looked a bit strange!
I went for grocery shop at 7am....saw my usual moisturiser with SPF on special 2 for $20 but when I checked the receipt when I got home I'd been charged full price for both $28.78. I took the receipt back in this afternoon and queried it and they refunded me $19.38 ....so I effectively got 2 bottles for $9.40! So my skin shall stay youthful and protected from the sun for a money saving pricestill not quite sure how they work out their refunds but better in my account than theirs!
Came home and tidied up a bit and then reclined on the new to me sofa ( after tidying all the piles of books, magazines , notebooks etc that had been in the bookcase that was there before. Bag of books for charity , bookcase in sons room, the shelves that were in his room are now in the laundry room. Chairs that were in office up on top landing where girls rooms are! All change! ) yesterday I had brought home from work ( as well as cakes and bread) all the newspaper supplements . So I reclined on sofa and started to read through them , ate 3 choc cookies and fell asleep! So no Sunday scone but did have Sunday snooze!
Whilst going to supermarket for refund, I took a bag of clothes for clothes bank in the car park. DD2 had had a clear out.
Another chit chat with OH....again thank goodness for unlimited international calls and then hoping to persuade my children to make dinner!
Spag Bol for tea.
I moved my beautiful bouquet of flowers into my office so I can enjoy them more. They were in the front room where no one usually sits!
Watched Casualty...again I'm grateful to those who take the time to upload programmes onto Internet .
So a fairly restful day off....no Sunday weeding done but the garden bin is full so nowhere to put the weeds anyway! Our seeds are now seedlings but I have no clue as to what's what as DD scattered them everywhere!
Enjoy your Sunday and happy birthday to master Frith the elder0 -
No, Tigers are still loose around the BoP house! Funny things with putah as well. Uploaded match pictures, here is look see!
5 At least two of my teams won yesterday. Still bits miffed for the Rugby. Though could say, they are yet to be in the papers this season, their loss not mine
4 Went a little flat yesterday after the game, as the BoP truck got a puncture, Bu99er. New tyre this very morning. Well, last time was about [STRIKE]85[/STRIKE] 70 on the A40! Well controlled by the BoP!
3 And guess what happens when BoP gets freedom of the Wobbleade emporium. He gets him sen some real nice ales. And Ms BoPsie a bottle of decent wine. Now how kind is that of BoP. All, well nearly all finished, but BoP went a bit overbored and with the Tigers roaming free at the moment, what cans I say!
2 gethers with Ms BoP and yous lots nose how impartial to a decent tart I am, so I have already this day made a Spotted !!!!!!. (First time since Chirmbo 2012 that fridge has had no spare puds in the thing), mince Pies and Jam Tarts. All hand rubbed with fingers and nails! Please note, no real tarts were injured during this exercise.
1 Take the b1tch for a walk. Another way to the free gym!0 -
Evening all. On my way home now, at an airport lounge that looks like a cross between a school canteen and a hospital waiting room. And the pre flight wine is mingling, if I were paying I'd be cross
Frith ,you are always doing something. I don't know how you manage. Hope smaller son settles soon
McCuloch and Chicken - your lopsided animals and people remind me of my favourite joke "what do you call a donkey with three legs" "A wonkey":rotfl:
Chicken - surprised I haven't heard him snoring from here, but there was a guy in Dubai airport giving him a run for his money. Tidy house? No chance, thank goodness there is a cleaner starting next week
Pleasures for yesterday
1 popped a pill and fell asleep, in the words of Sir Robert of Williams (only Nytol) did the trick and slept for 8 hours
2. Teaching good, seem a nice buncch, but very young
3. Nice lunch in Korean restaurant. Had bibimbap - rice with fried veggies.
4. Boring evening in hotel. Bought a sandwich,, had a bath. At least MSE I guess
And today
1 another pill, another 8 hours :T
2. Teaching good, even I think I sound like I know what I'm talking about. Perhaps I have moved from "conscious incompetence" to "conscious competence". the thing is, though, if you were unconsciously incompetent, you wouldn't know :rotfl:
3 had two hours to kill between teaching and airport so went to Gangnam (had to really didnt I), it really is a vibrant place, even at 6.30 on Sunday evening.
4. Had nice meal in Italian restaurant. Pasta with tiger prawns - just as well as nothing is edible in this lounge
And that's me, Dubai tomorrow which I am excited about. Home on tues. I like Seoul and the people are nice, but it's lonely on your own so I am not sorry to be leaving.
Thanks for keeping me companyI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
1) Second NSD / NPD in a row. :money:
2) HM bread with HM jam for breakfast - very tasty even though it's far from the best loaf of bread I've ever made (too much water, I think, which has made it go rather sticky).
3) A slightly convoluted one: as you may remember, a few months ago my DM and I stayed in a hotel in rooms which turned out to be rather run-down. After several months of chasing, I finally got a half-hearted apology and (more usefully) enough bonus points on my hotel-chain loyalty card for a one-night stay in another hotel. I have been trying to think ever since where we could go with the points, and on Friday had the brainwave that we could go to the Birmingham Christmas market next year. The 'pleasure for today' bit was that I mentioned it to my DM and she thought it was a great idea.
4) Picked another ripe tomato and sweet chilli.
5) The recipe for tonight's dinner calls for a glass of wine, so I will have to think of a use for the rest of the bottle. :beer:Back after a very long break!0 -
McHags: Your pleasures are so up beat in your new job, it’s lovely to read.
1.We spent the whole day Saturday caravan shopping after finding the caravan we were interested in was a scam. We are preparing a letter to the fca as I am now opening a dispute with our insurers, of course it would be childish to mention who I work for at the moment, but it could be quite fun to see their reaction, I think this will be a very factual letter, before I start using the legal expenses cover. The pleasure being we now know the caravan we want, just waiting for the perfect one to come up 2nd hand hopefully soon, a sprite, a swift or a lunar for us.:D
2. We got stuck in traffic so gave up and ended up in a TGI’ Fridays, a lovely food treat and we had a much needed laugh, but we decided we are both getting old as it was a bit “to loud” and far to “cramped” :rotfl:
3. Loaded my clear out bags from yesterday to the car to make sure I didn’t change my mind, it has been known, the bags make it to the landing, then to the spare room then back into room :rotfl:
Todays
1.I went into the front room today and found Christmas puddings, chocolates and candles bought in the sales last year which is great as I forgot about them:o:o
2.A bit of a cooking day, a pork loin joint with some HM Rosemary potatoes and veg, as the oven was hot, made Coffee and walnut cupcakes and biscuits.:D:D
3.The smell of rosemary and cooking was better than any air fresheners.
4. 3 loads of washing on the line not dried yet.
5.A quick chat with the neighbor about work we are both doing on the front gardens as they are effectively joined out the front of the house.
CCP’s pleasures remind me of a 6th pleasure, also a NSD//NPD…:T0 -
I've been away in Wonderland. Birthday & fallout day...
Chickenopolis - how great to have a 'wobbly' to love & with you on Blade Runner! Oh for a midday nap...
Muser1 - because you can has to about the best reason!
DD - long soak in bath? (gnashes teeth with envy!) *and* lamb stew (whimpers!)
Purple Kitten - can you remove these 'some people' from your life? As it *isn't* daft to be got down by people once, but letting them do it a second time? (Offspring & close family excluded...) Cooking with rosemary - oh yes - always smells good!
CCP - sounds calls both to change jobs AND plant more dahlias - there is not enough joy in the world as it stands. Waking to the smell of fresh bread - has to be a good start! Then cooking with wine - well, soemtimes it would be plain wasteful not to drink the rest...
BoP - you make that printer behave if your aren't supervising the adequate supplies of the yellow stuff. (Cracking job Skipton Saturday, mind!) Good to hear a man enjoying his snorkers. You OK after that tyre?
lovefullshelves - of course - Lemonade below, will pm the ginger as there are Variants...
Frith - so sorry to hear young master having a weepy time - hoping you're all back at normal-for-us again soon & all the very best with the ferrets... Birthday season with "insane nuclear burger", eh? Stength to you all & Happy Birthday Master Frith the Elder!
mcculloch - an A!di enthusiast? I'm beginning to think I may have to give it a go as everyone has "Oh you Must try X" stories! Glad you were able to lay the missed funeral to rest.
Kittikins - mango! Yum! *and* cheaper fuel (canny lass!) Love the Library "Aunties"!
sparrer - I love watching wind turbines - in California, the farms have car parks & picnic tables so you can sit & gawk!
Skint - hurrah young Master Skint! On his first try as well - now to delegate driven chores? Enjoy lazy evenings, much too rare!
mhagster - sounds like you have a dream job with great colleagues & football match holidays! It doesn't take the pain away, but sure helps. When might DH come back? With you entirely on the delights of uploaded TV.
VJS mum - all this exotic travel & now sleeping pills? Nasty stuff, jetlag. Good to get an eyes on the ground view on Gangam!
Yesterdays OS pleasures
My birthday, so some lovely cards - with a special soft spot for the home made ones.
Yarndale at Skipton - first time of running, so apparently teething problems, but I didn't notice & had a ball. Bonus points for the Routemaster bus which was gloriously trad outside & yarnbombed beautifully within!
Watching son greet an alpaca. (Eyeball to eyeball.)
Realising that m'husband was easily a foot taller than the average attendee, so he was easy to spot. Coped manfully with the seas of oestrogen.
"Jawa cake" when we got home. I used to get a Costco cake for the lads & the school but a few years back one wanted a small cake, "just family, mum", with a Star Wars Action Figure on top. Cheaper & even more personal. So I had a lemon cake with a Jawa on it...
Todays OS pleasures
Another really big plate for pennies at the car boot. Will hold a turkey, or a fleet of mince pies, but big, and bright and fun!
Still More Yellow Stuff!
Son doing D of E Expedition cooking included brambles & was applauded for an eye for the wild edibles. (!)
Made Lemonade (grate all the zest off five lemons, juice them, chuck the standard (2lb?) bag of sugar over, plus 2 pints of boiling water. Stir til the sugar has dissolved. Chuck in an ounce of citic acid, stir again & allow to cool. Bottle & enjoy.)
Swig neat when coldy, mixed with soda for a long cold drink, mixed with soda & gin for a long cold drink with a kick...
Made two sorts of ginger cordial, both now cooling (before being strained into Kilner flip top bottles from Wilkos.)
Now collapsed in an oh-Lord-it's-Monday-tomorrow heap!
Hugs to all who need them!0 -
Happy Birthday Digforvictory, your cake sounds deelish, hope you saved me a slice!
VJsmum - Gangnam eh? You do get about a bitThat rice and veggie dinner sounds yum.
1. DD and I finally got round to doing the science experiment for my course that I was supposed to do during the holidays....it's due in on Tuesday, so we were cutting it fine!
2. We went out for lunch using a 25% off voucherand our lovely waitress, who apparently is studying for her physics A level, gave us a few tips when she saw us writing up our plan
3. Scrumptious lunch in a lovely town I hadn't visited in years. The sun was shining and as we walked through the pedestrianized town square, DD remarked that it felt like we were back in Italy - and then we had Italian food for lunch!
4. Went to a church we've only been to once before and people remembered us - and the lady leading DD's youth group came up with her daughter and it turns out that DD and daughter are in the same Brownies pack! Small world....the church is about 8 miles from Brownies.
5. Lovely email from a chum who's been down in the dumps recently, and seems to be perking up a bit, bless her xx0 -
Lol re wonkey. Xoh has a folk song on cd where i swear the woman sings 'wonkey donkey'
bop 1 point in it
digs ginger cordial yum. Is it easy to make?
In bed already. Sleep soon. Think last week has caught up so
1) day 8 of shred and actually seems to be getting a bit easier :j
2) lovely harvest service (but no plough the fields so had to wait till the archers) followed by shared lunch nom nom
3) wore my bargain dress from mr t which looks tailored. Very pleased with that purchase
4) dd1 home for the afternoon. She gave me a very nice scarf as a congrats pressie. Was from a cs in edinburgh. Chip off the old block :T
5) went for lovely walk with xoh and the pups then home for shepherd's pie and young montalbano. Night all:cool:MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025
