so were you waxing lyrical or just crying out in pain vjsmum?
hugs frith hope you're feeling better for the weekend
helloo everybody else and hello everybody else :D
    5 for yesterday
    1) prof did a 'grand round' (seems a grand name for a lecture to me) on professionalism which I took my students to. They were very happy about it
    2) there was lunch 'first come first serve' so i said we will finish 15 minutes early to ensure lunch. sure enough i got the last sandwich (and saw several medical students beetling off down the corridor hand full of sarnies with no intention of going to the lecture. shame on them!)
    3) prof came in for 1/2 hour in afternoon to take questions from my students - very nice of her and again very much appreciated by my students
    4) students organised an ad hoc meal out to which i was invited. good fun. went home for long soak in bath (bliss) then prepare for today
    5) found 'Big School' on iPlayer. Enjoyed 3 episodes last night and 3 this morning as it's view by today and I'm out tonight
Have a good weekend one and all.

  • The day started out promising but has ended a bit hey ho.
    1. Working from home and did a fair bit
    2. I have gone forward for 2 temp contracts and they both came back to me same day today saying they are arranging interview dates.
    3. DH did a lot of work on the garden it looks great
    4. I cleared out an embaressing load of clothes and shoes, 3 very large bin bags worth.
    5. Found a wonderful caravan we are trying to find out more about.
    6. Making HM burger and hm fries to tea
    7. 2 loads of washing I put out dried nicely in the weather.
Just watered the hanging basket and loads of flowers waiting to come out, and the Strawberrys have settled in nicely.

Feeling a bit down thanks to some people and I can’t believe I let them get to me, they came round as they may want a few bits and pieces, but then carry on to say how their place is so much more modern and they get so much more for so much less and on and on it relentlessly went, to the point I walked away, but it’s left me feeling sapped I know if sounds daft.

CCP - stick at the lightbox? Cousin needs a week to "restore the lost" then a night a week "maintenance".

Yes, I find it takes a while to build up an effect, too, and then I really need to use it every day, or every other day at a minimum, to keep the effect going. :(

PK - hugs. Knowing you should ignore idiots and actually doing it aren't always the same thing, I know!

I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself this afternoon, not just because of the SAD but because, with even more than my usual clumsiness, I whacked my arm on the office kitchen door and my arm is now a nice shade of blue-purple, and unsurprisingly rather sore. :( I wish I could say that my colleagues were kind and sympathetic, but mostly they just laughed - my habit of walking into things / dropping things / cutting myself on things is embarrassingly well known. :o

    1) My arm aside, it's been a red day: I picked 5 tomatoes, one sweet chilli, and a small bowl of alpine strawberries. :D

    2) My landlord's workman came round to see about removing the garden shed that is literally falling down, and we have agreed that he will come round one day next week, let himself in through the garden gate, and take it all away while I'm at work.

2 b) Said workman's reaction on first seeing my garden - "jeez, have you got enough flowers here, girl?". :rotfl: The answer, of course, is 'no' - particularly where my beloved dahlias are concerned there is no such thing as 'enough'! ;)

    3) An incident at work convincing me that my decision to look for another job is 100% correct - let's just say that the old Chinese curse 'may you live in interesting times' came to mind!

    4) Heard from my DM that their rescue pony's suspected laminitis has been caught early enough that no damage has been done, and he should be fine after a month's rest. :j

    5) Indian fakeaway for dinner tonight: beef and spinach curry (HM, from the freezer), lemon rice (LO from a proper takeaway, from the freezer), tomato salad (HG tomatoes) and mini spinach dosas (RTC). :money:
Back after a very long break!

kittikins one of my students gave a cool demo of prezi today. He recommended 'prezi for dummies'. Word of caution, if internet flakey (as in our room today) get the full version then you can download your prezi for presentation. He says we can get the full version through our @dundee.ac.uk accounts so might be worth checking (unless teaching grandmother to suck eggs lol)

  • Light Boxes or replacement suns. No, thinks that the BoP will get chuckled this winter by throwing another log or two on the fire. That way we can have spitting ember. Do not forget to get them chimneys swept!

Seems the schools have been good to those who need them, I am well past it. And I lost my putah password last day as well. Not set up a password reset. Bu99er. Never mind, nearly wasted 6 days waiting for Jobs Worth. Then the reset question. name your first company. Mine 6 letters. Does not fit minimum. One question, is I locked out, I cannot access webpage to get in. Funny that!

5 Putajs at work locked me out. Yipppppeeeee. Nearly lost [STRIKE]6 months[/STRIKE] some work as well. Had chicken curry and breakfast. The Coffee machine went nuclear this week and is broken. I always ask for Horlicks and it is never available!!!!!!!!

4 Sorted the big printer out tonight. Ms BoPsie has been too kind to it, needed a bits of the old ruffing up a bit. She will nows be able to print atr will again. Stupid pictures coming up gals.

3 Just done fantastic chicken tikka and veg curry for tea. Chicken in yogurt, spices and lemon. Oven roasted. Coconut style curry, with mushrooms and chummpered cucumbers. Ms BoPsie has gets me some Banks wobbleades for the evening.

2 Had problems with the tigers last nite! Every so often the great and the good amongst us, I am talkings about me, have weiurdo dreams. You see, I have to fight the tigers and, according to the late Ms BoPsie, they were loose in the bed last nite. Managed to shut the door and climb the bned wall. (We are in separate beds room while Bed Room of BoP and BoPsie is decorated. Well, funny, cos all I nose she wake me up at 3:25. Now I ask you.

1 In the mirror is the most beautiful thing that only others can see!

Hugs to the needy. Beard rubs to any!

Quite a few people seem to be having a down day. :-(

Lots of tears here from smaller son. He so rarely cries I don't know what to do! He is so upset about leaving his school. We went into town after picking up bigger son from school and went into a caf!. Smaller son started crying and got so embarrassed he gave the table a good kick and it moved and a tray of used crockery (not ours, left from the last people) fell on the floor and smashed. So we went straight home.

He cried all the way home and starts again just thinking about it or seeing something connected with his old school. After all that drama, I read the lovely comments left by his teacher in his home/school link book so I nearly got upset and had to go and dig the garden by myself! Obv, MrN had to go to the shop at that point. He said "hello", took one look at me, said "Erm...." and went off to the shop as fast as he could!

Ah well, here are my pleasures for today:

    1) Not too bad a sleep.

    2) Sons off to school happily.

    3) Bought a jumper for bigger son's birthday - reduced to £5 in H and M's sale!

    4) Went to B and Q for the doors for my wall cabinets in the kitchen.

    5) Went to Howden's for the door for my base unit in the kitchen! The lady at Howden's had the same surname as me, which is unusual so we had a chat about that.

    6) Went to mum and dad's as I have to look after the farm while they are on holiday, from tomorrow til next Wednesday. Got a massive list of how to look after the sheep, dog, hens, ferrets... Mum made me a bacon and egg sandwich.

    7) Did the garden a bit this afternoon and planted the cyclamen plants we won at the village bingo a while back.

    That's about it!
  • Your Aunt's gesture in adopting the 'wobbly dog' made me smile, Chicken, I have a weaker leg too, and consequent wobble, though I'm lucky that it was mild, compared with what it could have been.

Mhags, thank you for such a lovely positive post, so many good things highlighted in your day.

CCP, ouch, a little sympathy from colleagues wouldn't have been totally amiss, though it's easier to laugh at yourself, than cry in front of anyone.

Oh PK, I am sorry that you were on the receiving end of such shallow and vacuous thoughts . I'm lucky in that I seldom come across people of that mindset, well, I may do but they don't come in my house.

DFV, re the tweeting, I've done that with a mobile as well, thought 'Where's that birdsong coming from?' :o but thankfully, I kept my thoughts to myself and avoided embarrassment.

VJ'sMum, hope all went well including the teaching.

    Frith
, sorry you are down, I wonder if it's the time of year, as with CCP's use of the lightbox?

    Small collection:-
    1. Dr C. is back at work, and at the moment is out for a meal with colleagues.

    2. Got the Mirr0r for the A!di vouchers yesterday, very happy about that.

    3. Went across the county today (for free, using bus pass) to meet up with a former student (won't bore you with the full story). My town is the twin of the town I was in, but due to various developments in the past, our town centre is a pale shadow in comparison, and that's allowing for effects of the recession. So as well as meeting up with the student, I swooped round their discount stores, which we don't have and came home with my granny trolley full of bargains.

    4. Goodies arriving in the post. More goodies on the way. Including something to review for Am@zon that I have wanted for quite a long time.

    5. House is reasonably tidy and less cluttered daily. Looking around for what I can shred/chuck/clear next.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

Hugs Frith and Master Frith - moving on is hard, Miss Kitty and I know xx Things will be fine, just accept and roll with the sad bits

DD - I signed up for an academic student freebie prezi account - I think it's full posh access whilst I'm PGCEing :) I have a major seminar to work on for next Thursday with a group of chums, struggling to put coherent ideas together at the mo, but we're hoping to prezi it to the class when we know what the heck we want to critique! :)

    1. Mango for brekkie - and I didn't share it with DD :) (I'm not totally mean, she had tons of mango yesterday so it was my turn today!)

    2. Cheap(er) petrol, so glad I forgot my purse yesterday and didn't fill up when it was I think 7p/litre more expensive!

    3. Brilliant lessons - despite one of them loading us up with lots of work ;) I can't quite believe it's only the end of the second week, feels like I've been a student for ever!

    4. Celebrated my last full tax credits (working and child versions) today with a cup of coffee and some choccy. No idea how much my child-only version will go to next week, but hey ho, living here is certainly cheaper than having my mahoosive mortgage and associated expenses, so DD won't go without clothes, books and fun!

    5. Talking of DD.......big lovely cuddles with my baby girl :) I got back after dinner as I lost track of time and she came rushing out to give me a cuddle :)
