Pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Sons had a good day at school.
3) I went for a 3 hour walk and found some geocaches.
4) On 3rd load of washing as I type.
5) Put nametapes in smaller son's new uniform.
6) Bigger son stormed through his maths homework and finished his art homework.
7) Tasty HM bread (still warm) for lunch.
8) Smaller son's first day at the new school tomorrow! Their plan is to keep him in the base and let him "invite" 2 nice pupils in so he can show them round. ;-) He is only going for the morning. On Thursday they are going to see how he gets on doing some small group work with others from the yr 6 class. Don't know how long it will be before he ventures into the yr 6 classroom (to be taught by MrN's cousin!!)
9) Looking forward to Holby a bit later. Also wanted to watch The Wrong Mans but think I might not get time tonight.0 -
Will give you the good bits of my day just now
Great sleep! 8 hours in a row and no silly dreams to wake me up....8.30-4.30am.... So still up very early but felt the benefit
Spent the next 2 hours reading my book and finished it....whodunit? Not who you'd expect!
Lovely day at work
Lots of hugs with my children ...not to old to cuddle their mum.
Support of family and friends from here and afar.
Have a good one!0 -
mhags I hope your DH made the journey okay and arrived safely. Look after yourself, good that you have the support of your DC
chicken any news of the rings? Fingers x'ed they turn up soon
Kittikins school sounds fun, don't get too tired!
VJsmum don't be fooled by the harvest, I grew tato's a couple of years ago and kept the soil to use for planting other things - I'm still getting tato leaves appearing in the strangest places! Your ten may well turn into a glut
1. The house is spotless, I defy anyone to find a speck of dust anywhere - taken three days but worth it. (We'll overlook the cat hair, it's impossible to get rid of completely!)
2. Loaf in the bm and a chilli in the oven, with two sweet jacket potatoes
3. Washing machine working overtime dying some navy blue items back to navy blue - why is it that navy fades so much quicker than any other colour? A real pleasure is it's covered the purple-ish bleach spots on my favourite navy chino's
4. Printing and laminating done for my fellowship, and some chocolate squares cooling to take this evening
5. Been accepted by Cat's Protection. I won't start until the new month as I have a friend coming to stay from oop norf today for a week, but looking forward to that and starting pulm rehab at much the same time. Happy
The forecast here is pretty good for the next few days with a fair chance of seeing the yellow thing. Have a sunny day0 -
sparrer he has arrived safely but sadly not in time.0

Good evening all !
Mhagster - ((hugs))
PK- thank you x
Sparrer - well done you xx Catwoman
5 for today
1. The Pensioner found her rings !!!!:T(thanks for asking too Sparrer)Went in at 7.15 am to see her and the tiny one and she stuck out her pinky to show me... They were in a rubber glove that she had been wearing to clean out bathroom " I must have looked at the same glove twice and missed it "said she......However, I have an amusing image in my head of my brother going through the compost heap bit by bit last night before she found them :rotfl:"Its a bit hot in there " said he :rotfl:
2. Work ok - both managers off for two weeks from Monday and have been tasked to "gatekeep".
3.Wore a hunting pink coloured v neck sweater that I have had for years . People said they liked it..
4. Took the tiny one out
5.HM Korma for tea . Yum
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Chickenopolis - glad pharmacy handy & helpful for you!
CCP - I envy you the ability to pop home in lunch break!
Kittikins - just think - some of your pupils will be saying the same!
Purple kitten - with you 100% on the joy of coming home to the smell of home cooking!
Frith - season of mist & name tape sewing! .
Sparrer - navy fades to remind you how much you love it... I've a red top I'd wear more were it just to fade a bit first!
Skint yet Again - have confidence in your podiatrist! (I've been towing husband to them for months & he's back in real footwear after surgery thanks to them - they're Wonderful.)
Mhagster - glad to hear you're getting the hugs. Very sorry to read MrM was not in time. My heart goes out to you all.
OS pleasures
1.Just letting my eyes fill with Kawasaki green. (Stood gawking.) It isn't *that* lovely, but it reminds me of the leathers & the freedoms (& the risks) of riding a motorbike. Hurrah for nostalgia!
2.Collecting perfume sample cards at a massive expensive department store - all white, with expensive French names embossed. I'll decorate a black ring binder with them for a cousin who needs a reminder that she's loved.
3. That big dumb grin I get when a bus flicks its lights to say thank you when I pull up to let it out.
4. Moira Stuart, voice like honey, delivering the 7 o'clock news as her "tapes" go utterly haywire - her rueful calm is a thing of beauty & I can't be the only one admiring her style at seven in the morning!
5. Got letter from consultant beautifully clear on pill schedule. It's a thing of beauty - meticulous and reassuring. Gods bless the man, especially if it works.
Hugs to all that need them!0 -
Evening all.
mhagster - I'm so sorry to hear that - hugs to you and your family.
1) Watching a fussy blue tit on the bird feeder this morning, pulling out seeds and spitting out the ones it didn't like. :rotfl:
2) Watching some workmen on the roof of a neighbouring building - the chief pleasure being the fearless foreman not falling off the roof despite leaning casually over a five-storey drop with no safety harness several times!
3) Downloaded the complete works of Jane Austen on to my kindle for 12p thanks to a tip-off on the kindle bargains thread. :money:
4) Making a prawn and veg curry for dinner, although I've slightly misjudged the amount of water so I think it's going to be more like a curry soup!
5) My lightbox, which I've got out for the first time today (I should have got it out at least a week ago, tbh) and which will hopefully relieve the,
feeling.
Back after a very long break!0 -
Excellent news on the rings chicken
sparrer well done on the CP
Sorry to hear about fil mhags and oh not getting there in time. Big hugs
2 days down 2 to go. Trying to get my head round correlations between 20 sets of 10 rankings and head just dont wanna go there! My today's 5 i devote to my lovely students and colleagues
1) started session with a student from oz demonstrating a couple of youtubes she uses in her teaching. One had a prof physically doing ecg traces - very funny and very effective
2) macmillan cake sale and 3 of my colleagues bought me 'congratulations on your promotion' cakes. Nom nom. Have to admit i ate one am beak, one pm break and one after teaching. Defo needed the sugar!
3) somehow we got onto situational judgement tests. I know a little about them, but student 2 offered to demo one to the class (hence my ranking correlation puzzle). Another very good teaching experience shared. We discussed the pros and cons.
4) then onto lecturing skills and called on another student to demo how he uses flipchart to draw a knee rather than using ppt. Another brilliant reflection point
5) showed them a prezi on prezi and one student said he uses prezi. He has offered to demo one tomorrow. Yay. (I am a ppt user but always very happy for others to share alternatives)
Time to walk the dogs, go through teaching for tomorrow (only 4.5 hours tomorrow as coleague is doing learning environments with lego and at lunch time we're going to prof's grand round. As lunch is first come first serve at 12:30 students very happy to finish early.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Oooh prezi DD, it's a shiny new toy that our head lecturer is keen for us to use. I've signed up for a free account and can't wait to play, but until I actually have to do a presentation (maybe next week....) I don't have time to. Looks cute though, hope you'll like it
mhags, sorry OH didn't get there in time, hugs to you all xx
1. Wore my favourite dress today and felt great.
2. Felt like I'm starting to understand a lot more about this critical reflective malarkey - we're now attempting to apply it to deathly dull academic pieces (obviously not written by any of our esteemed posters!!) and I feel less scared about it!
3. Managed to work out where I needed to swipe my library card to get into the 24-hour party, I mean computer, room, so got a bit done before my first seminar
4. Had delicious leftovers for lunch and sat amongst a bank of lavender on a cunningly hidden bench. It looks like the best spot on the campus to chill out
5. Got tons (ha!) done in the library and left a bit early so I could spend more time with DD tonight
6. She got full marks in her spelling again this week! another pleased as punch moment - when I came in, she was playing fabulously fluent finger exercises on the keyboard and until I saw her, I wasn't sure it was her - but it had to be as the dog doesn't have thumbs and my parents don't play! She's coming on in leaps and bounds
7. My mummykins bought me lovely treats of a magazine and some gorgeous 'relaxing' shower gel, I'm not sure what I've done to deserve being spoiled, but am not complaining0
