    Evening all.

    1) NSD and NPD.

    2) Cold LO pizza for breakfast.

    3) Put away the first batch of dried borlotti beans, then picked the second and final batch and spread those out to dry. Then picked some over-grown French beans and spread those out to dry too - I don't know what they'll be like dried but it's better than throwing them away.

    4) Watched a very interesting grand prix, although not a good one from the POV of my fantasy F1 team: of my four cars, one finished 4th, one was 3rd but eventually finished 8th, one crashed into the wall and another burst into flames (without serious harm to the driver, I'm pleased to say). :( I'm not very good at this, am I? :o

    5) Decided to have a soup and pudding night, the first for this autumn, so I've got a big pan of tomato, lentil and bacon soup simmering on the stove, a loaf of malted grain bread in the BM, and some mincemeat tarts from last c-word defrosting for afters. :D

ETA - 6) Twinkle, twinkle, little bat... fluttering around above my garden. :)

BoP - it sounds like you had a great time. :)

I will save us all from the lions on Wednesday if needs be, but surely someone else knows the answer and can put BoP out of his misery? ;)
Back after a very long break!

. Bought shred dvd to find wndows 8 doesnt play dvds. Hmm. Watched on dvd

I've got Windows 8 with a DVD drive and it has no problems with DVDs at all. I played one made this year and one made in 2007 just now to check it out. Something must be stopping it from playing, assuming it's not faulty.

Hello all. Totally stunning day weather-wise in dundee. Was back in summer dress and too warm for lovely EWM jacket i 'borrowed' from mum last week. So
    1) the weather
    2) went to friend's church for their harvest festival. Fantastic haul from congregation for charity but so sad so many are now having such a tough time.
    3) amazeballs - friend and her bf were called to the front and their engagement was announced. Sooooo happy for them
    4) went for celebratory lunch with them then
    5) home to an empty house bliss. Xoh is oot with the bf so i walked dogs, did some housework, enjoyed the sun, hung out the washing and watched a couple of episodes of mrs brown's boys 2nd series. Xoh really doesnt feel comfortable with female impersonators but now i dont have to worry about upsetting her :-) right, off to give dogs last walk then to bed with mrs brown iyswim. Night all.

    My pleasures for today.

    1) A lie in! Hoorah!

    2) House tidy.

    3) Chopped the edges off my bedroom curtains. I got them from a charity shop for £5 last year (brand new from Next) and they were far too wide. I just folded them over! Anyway, they are now the right size and I also tacked a fleece lining on the back to keep the cold out. Used my mum's sewing machine when taking the curtains in - hadn't used one since school!

    4) Tasty tea just for me of chicken kiev, roasted sweet potato and 2 courgettes dad gave me roasted as well.

    5) Sons back from their father's. Bigger son did some art homework.

    6) Archers and a hwb just now.

Wish me luck for in the morning. I've got to take my mum to hospital. It is very hard to get a straight answer out of her about anything (she is like that sketch with Les Dawson and other bloke where they talk about everything in euphemisms and whispers!) but it turns out the "little mark" I have been nagging her about for 2 years is skin cancer. I'm not sure how long she has known about that but she told me for a few weeks this appointment was "about nothing" and even now I have to drive her to it secretly without telling my dad or brother. Not sure how that will pan out!

chicken CP is Cat's Protection, the welfare charity. I'll be wanting to take all the cats home myself but Yang is a stroppy old beggar and it wouldn't be fair on a newbie to try to fit in here. Re home visits for the Conservative Party...the way I feel I'd be encouraging Joe Public to cast a vote of no confidence in any of them at the mo!

    1. Yellow thing shone all day and is forecast off and on during the coming week. Back in short sleeves today
    2. Was quite controlled when I was window shopping, did the groceries first, then I saw a must-have red tartan skirt. So I have it :p
    3. Lunch out with friends, I wrote a review about the pub and we got very special service today :)
    4. Watched Kevin McCloud's Man Made Home, interesting and fun
    5. Email from CP who would like to speak to me this week re training for the voluntary job with them :D

    Sweet dreams :)

eta Hope all goes well tomorrow Frith, will keep your Mum on my thoughts and prayers x
  • 1. had a Sunday lie in
    2. OH shared his bacon butty with me
    3. Warm wonderful sunshine all day
    4. Picked many runner beans and luscious apples, prepped and froze what we couldn't eat today
    5. Got into bed and realised I hadn't had any alcohol (nor missed it)
    :A Goddess :A
  • Small collection:

    1. Home pedicure this morning, utter, utter bliss. I love pampering my feet, they are in top nick these days as a result.

All the improvement started with not walking an average of 20 miles a week when arthritis started. My shoes have lasted years now I cycle everywhere. Wearing them out was down to CP. (!) 'My CP' is cerebral palsy, just one side, but because I have one leg shorter and weaker than the other, my gait was uneven.
So every cloud.... even arthritis, it would seem.

    2. Fascinating book on mental health arrived from Am@zon Vine, ie free to review, I'm so pleased I did the MH awareness course, as it makes reading it a lot easier. Cannot say much more as I need to do a full review for Am@zon before saying anything anywhere else.

    3. Nice chat with DSis on phone.

    4. Dr C. back to work on Wed. this week, all being well.

    5. Your pleasures.
