We is off to the seaside this weekend. Happy days.
Looks good that the lions are being fed well0 -
Caught up, busyness again.
Frith, do get better, my DD is not well and DGC had lurgy too.
VJ'sMum - well done to that DD! It made me glow.
Sparrer, how awful, what a sad loss. My DD is a similar age.
DunD - hugs.
1. A lot of my learners have taken the hint to do some work and have got going again, it must be in the air.
2. Remember the free courses run by the company I work for that I mentioned back around April? A few of you on here took up the offer of them, as I did myself - my L2 certificate for Mental Health Awareness came through a couple of weeks ago.
The courses are still available, incidentally.
Not only that, the company needed telephone inductors for the latest batch of courses.
I've done telephone and face to face inductions for years as an e- tutor and group tutor, so I applied and have been offered a post. It's like doing a face to face induction in that a fair bit of paperwork is involved, as those of you who did them will know.
Another job working from home, whoopee.
3. The decluttering continues.
We unearthed a SNES video game machine and a bunch of games, a few still boxed.
Dr C sold a SNES game unboxed for £13.00 on the Bay of E, and another game that is boxed and much rarer has a current bid of £56. He got it some 16 years ago from a market stall trade in. (I wish I'd known that they were so valuable, I know I threw some out years ago...)
An old iPhone of Dr C's went for £120 on Gumtree.
4. Remembering to pump up my tyres before getting on the trike, trimming some 10 minutes off errand times today.
5. Cut price bargains from the discount freezer shop who were re-stocking shelves when I went in. Pastrami a quid for 200g, a pound of "cooking" bacon for £1.
6. Have remembered to put an overflowing plastic, paper, card and tin recycling wheelie bin out.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
BoP - oh, I know the answer to that - it's in one of Terry Pratchett's books. What you do is, you sneak up on the smallest gladiator, steal his sword, then tell him "show me the door to freedom if you don't want to see the colour of your kidneys. Oh, and you're going through the door first so don't try and get clever.". Amirite?*
Bucket, Spade packed. Minds me of working in Browns cafe, Candy Floss! Two Little Ducks!0 -
Ssssssh! All is silent in the mhagster house...just me! ( lashing with torrential rain outside and birds are singing but it's silent inside!) it's nice!
So , work this morning , should have been a day off but someone couldn't work so I did half day yesterday and other half today. Had fun!
Drove home, no dizziness this morning ( phew!) and no parking fines to worry about as I was just a half day...colleague got a $76 fine on Tuesday!
DD1 has a debutante ball tonight and although she isn't a 'deb' she is going as guest of the deb! So last day of term and she told me last night, she wasn't going into school, no-one would be there etc etc as they would all be getting ready for deb ball...the debs had a day pass off school.....anyway, cue text from school ...not at school today please inform why ....
So I replied by text....DD1 is absent due to making herself beautiful for deb...apparently!
Anyway, we went and did the grocery shopping and then had some lunch together.
DD1 is not a girly girl and never really has been....doesn't like make up, being dressy etc so has gone in a pretty dress and a pair of converse!
DD2 who is a girly girl and always has been asks in horror....does mum know you're wearing those....pointing to the footwear.
DD2 out swimming with friends tonight, she had her first session with ed psych this morning. She was a bit non committal about it but Ed Psych had called me and said it went well enough for a first session. The girls have 2 weeks off school, so no uniforms and pack lunches etc for a fortnight yeh!
DS is out at girlfriends so its just me until OH comes in from work. I need to put shopping away and as DD 2 asked for money she can tidy up tomorrow when I'm at work!
I had a bath and a snooze in the bath earlier...I'm trying to read a book which I think will be quite good once I get into it but I keep falling asleep after only a few pages!
Do have a lovely day ....it's Friday so hurrah!0 -
Morning all
CCP, Frith I cut ribbons/tags/tapes off everything, especially those annoying extra long one inside sweaters etc. Then thread them all on a big safety pin close to the top of the ribbon, so I can cut them off when I need one for crafts, gift tags etc.
mhags you made me laugh with DD1's Converse. Reminds me of when we were visiting an elderly rel and DD got all done up like a dog's dinner and put a studded biker jacket over the top. Fortunately she has more style these days
mcculloch we have no idea when we buy something how valuable it might turn out to be in the future so well done on the game. I don't like clutter so tend to throw 'stuff' away - years ago I sold some tea plates for pennies at a car boot, needless to say I found out later who Clarice Cliff was . Now I look up everything I'm not sure about before I get rid of it!
chicken pleased to hear you DM is on the mend
1. Spare bedroom all shiny like a new pin ready for lovely friend who is visiting next week. Now, do I remove the floaty, floor length voiles and buy some short heavier curtains, or trust that her two dogs won't go near them. Silly thought - will go to cs's later to buy some short curtains!
2. Ginormous (slight exaggeration) blister on the heel of my hand where the cloth slipped when I was turning yesterday's loaf out. Old style 'pleasure', or remedy, was water running on it for ten minutes so it has stopped stinging now. Not so pleasurable for the water meter!
3. Young friend visited yesterday afternoon, helped her put her thoughts in order over a pot of tea and a scone. Lovely thank you text from her last night
4. 2 loads of washing on line because...
5...the yellow thing is here :j
Happy poets day0 -

Ha ha - literally if yous off to the seaside. I think you've picked the weekend for it.
I have been so remiss at posting of late, must do better.
Sparrer - how shocking to die of such a thing so young. We have dodgy lungs in our family - I try to look after them
Frith - I had a dream about damsons last night - random. Hope you and DS continue to improve
OK - for Wednesday
1. Worked at home, after sitting staring at a blank screen, playing solitaire, clutching head in hands and swearing loudly, I finally managed to find a way into my new module which starts next Friday
2. Yummy homemade soup for lunch
3. 2 loads of washing out and mostly dried - just finished in airing cupboard
4. DS went to the local footie match alone (met some mates there) - starting to spread his wings and he got a free ticket for it from school.
5. Gammon and salmon for tea - gammon for the boys and DD and I had salmon. T'was yum
And yesterday
1. More freshers activities - a walking tour of Birmingham. My colleague led it and was brilliant, giving a history of the development of Brum. I didn't know much of what he said but could just chip in bits of what I did know, also meant an early dart
2. Finally sent off DD's provisional driving license application
3. More headway on module content - will be spending much of tomorrow on it though.
4. Nice walk to station and then from station to office - lots of walking today
5. Watched two KillingsI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good afternoon all !
Sparrer - thank you xx
Mcculloch - well done you ! I got the "Medication" one through a while back. Thoroughly enjoyed it:) , will probably do more. Only got one lot of feedback from tutor , should have had three more .. I guess they must have been happy with my work then
5 for yesterday
1. Site visit went well - nice compliments from owner of the company . Said she liked my "manner" (not to be confused with MANOR :rotfl:). Not used to this type of thing being actually said.
2. Not keen on someone new in the team . A bossy mare -I'd like to see her try ....and I do hope that I am proved wrong about her.
3. Walked terrier in rain ... we had the Park to ourselves :T
4.Paella for tea made by yours truly.
5.Peaky Blinders .. now that lead character is rather tasty ....
5 for today
1. Day off
2. Out with terrier before 7am
3. Out with DM at 9am , went into town and did a few bits and pieces and had a cup of tea and a cheese scone . DM's longest venture out since her Op.
4.Banked some change , went into M&ESS with 20% off voucher and got a nice angora mix jumper .
5.Three lots of washing done , hoovered , cleaned out animals now I need a snooze !
Have a lovely evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Oooo, McCulloch - please could you pm me with a list of courses? I know you told me a while back but I got snowed under with the smaller son school debacle and didn't do anything about them.0

1. It’s not on, I worked from home today but found I worked straight through until 6pm as I had so much to do and get interrupted in the office, glad tis all done now.
2. Looking forward the weekend, no particular reason other than nice to be out.:D
3. Planted a few bulbs out and hung 3 loads of washing out in the lunch hour;)
4. The kitchen floor is clean, ahem I had planned on doing the rest of the house but er didn’t in between waiting for a delayed conf call I thought I could clean, but ended up playing with the animals instead.:rotfl:0 -
Yup DD, I reflected, wrote......and overnight have reflected again! Had a good DRCP lecture today though, it's kind of making sense but not looking forward to doing Level 7 kind of work on it, especially after not being in a uni environment for nearly 20 years.....
Anyway.....
1. After being so tired after a l-o-n-g and at times dismaying day (I realised that I really can't get away with just reading the articles they tell us to read, I have to READ them and understand what the heck it's waffling on about to be able to keep up!), I woke up happy that it's Friday today!
2. We had lots of cake in one of our seminars to celebrate 3 people's birthdays that had taken place before we got startedNomnom
3. Was sitting in the library minding my own business and getting some bits ready for the next seminar, when a group of students from a different tutor group sat down at the table, and one of them asked me if I'd been for interview at Uni A as she recognised me - we were both rejected from them and for the same reason! Concluded that Uni A were idiots and we were really happy to be here instead
4. The sun came out!!!
5. Managed to get a fair amount of homework done before coming home, so feel reasonably relaxed about preparing for next week's full-on timetable. Just got those huge doorstop library textbooks to open, rather than just admire on the shelf0
