Frith - wow, just look at all those damsons! I love them - one of my DM's friends has a tree and me and DM always share the produce between us as the friend doesn't like them; I'll have to ask how the tree's doing this year.DundeeDoll wrote: »us academics waffle?
As a member of uni admin staff I think I'll go for the 'no comment' option there, for fear of being back-balled off this thread permanently.Blackbeard_of_Perranporth wrote: »And the lions are still waiting to be fed
Didn't they eat me for messing about rather than answering the question? I can apparently still post from inside a lion, which is quite clever.
1) Wore my new boots to work and they're every bit as comfy and cosy as the old pair.
2) Phoned a company and left a message with the receptionist, whose slick professionalism was interrupted with a mutter of "oh pants!" as she hit the wrong key on her computer. It just made me :rotfl:.
3) Lots of lovely yellow stuff in the afternoon, and warm enough that I didn't need my coat when I left work.
4) Joking with the bloke on the till at W8rose over the unpopularity of the Daily Mail - it's apparently always the only one left in their free paper offer - as we share the same view of it as a 'news' paper. Another 'just made me :rotfl:' moment.
5) Decided to keep the computer switched off last night and finish my book instead, although I wasn't particularly pleased with the ending: the bloke whodunnit was a character who hadn't been mentioned once in the previous 400-odd pages, which is frankly cheating.
Have a nice Saturday, everyone - I'm off to search for the receipt for a pair of slippers which have started falling apart after being worn only a dozen or so times. :mad:Back after a very long break!0 -
1. Just created a new bed for the daffies and winter flowering pansies/cyclamen to go in but was beaten by the rain before I could do any planting. Not to worry though, they say it's going to stop later. I hope
2. It's mild enough to have the back door open
3. Made 8 individual crumbles in ramekins with some of the apples from the tree. It's a Coxes OP but they're still nice cooked gently
4. Got a chicken in the sc
5. Just applied for my dream 'job' as a voluntary home visitor for CP. Wish me luck!
Happy Saturday0 -
Well, I got a refund, but not without an argument.
I couldn't find the receipt so printed off my credit card statement which showed the purchase, but the customer service lady refused to accept it as "that just shows you were here - you could have bought anything" (you'll have to imagine the snotty tone of voice as I can't type it!). When I insisted, she rather grumpily called her manager over, then got even grumpier when he promptly over-ruled her as "they're clearly faulty - of course we'll give a refund". :T
So, pleasure #1 - I stuck to my guns and got there in the end!
2) Bought a new pair of slippers with panda faces on them, because... well, just because, really!
3) Went to the market stall where I usually buy my fruit and explained I was after anything overripe / slightly damaged to make jam with, and came away with half a tray of minorly battered nectarines for £1.50. :money: The stall-holder seemed very impressed that I made jam, too.
4) Takeaway pizza tonight without the 'takeaway' bit - I got BOGOF last weekend and froze one, but have already got fed up with the amount of room it's taking up in the freezer so I'm going to eat it.
5) Clearly not in sequential order - was woken up this morning by the postman with my OU books, and rather naughtily went back to bed and back to sleep for another hour or so.
sparrer - fingers crossed for the job - let us know how you get on.Back after a very long break!0 -
Sparrer, fingers crossed for the dream job.
CCP: Sounds like a lovely day, glad you got the refund and great slippers to boot.
1.A lovely lazy start.
2.We went out around garden centres looking for inspiration and it was very light on the wallet thankfully, got inspired, we went to one nursery which was run by the most lovely chap, we chatted away but still didn’t buy anything but did leave with a bag of apples as he was saying he couldn’t give them away!:rotfl:
3.Stopped in at Mr T and picked up the bags of casserole veg they have for a Sunday roast tomorrow, and casserole during the week. I picked them up for a pound but noticed the ones being put out had a permanent price on the packing of 1.50!!!
Feeling really contented
4.Planted Ampersands strawberry's in wall troughs, and attached them to the back wall, getting all creative.:)

Good morning lovely peeps
The yellow thing is shining, I'm all washed, shaved, shampooed and eyelashes curled as me dear old Papa used to say. All would be right with my world but all the roads in my village are closing at 11am for the carnival procession and I don't usually leave the house til 11.45am. So in less than one hour I have to go, which means strolling round the shops to kill time before meeting friends. Terrible, could be costly
More later but meanwhile have a super day, hope the yellow thing is shining for you0 -
Dundee made me giggle with all your "oicking" :rotfl:

Rites Gals, I'm back, and this time I am more chillaxed than afore. Though, I see the Lions are still waiting. Answer on Wednesday. Got to keeps yous all on yous toes.
5 Fab weekend. Up at FiL's Friday nite. the old boy had got putah, yep, lick one of them things that & got. Only thing is, he hath been on them courses and bits, but no one has actually shown him how to use the thing, for what he wants. He just wants to look at the paper and look at his horses and like. Soon had him typing at 5wpm. Had glass of water fired with some wobbleade. He soon got a grip and continued unabated and happy. (Actually sat for another hour messing about before retiring.
4 Had Haddock, chips Musssssssssssssshy peas in Steels Corner House, washed down with tea and Jelly and Ice cream. By fgar toooooooooo much I thinks, then it was off to Anderby Creek. Place where one of my Uncles, come rain wind and sun, used to stand on the top every day on holiday, to have the fresh aire blow through him. You used to think why he did it. Well, when you're a miner, it was like heaven. Listened to the Mariners on the radio as well.
3 Visited the three graves, put flowers from FiL's garden on MiL stones. Then went to see new stones for Mum BoP. Shame the Wicked Witch in the West does not care for the man she took the money off, his grave unkempt by her. So spruced it up a bit.
2 Then went out for a Italian, and the Current Ms BoPsie cannot take Chilean wines. So offs goes Uncs to enquire. Off cause, it is ok, it is an Italian Restaurant!!!! Per Sie! So had Pizza and then a few scoops of Wobbleades, Batemans Style. Then saw the Skeggie Lifeboat (donate at RNLI) in after a practice this morning.
1 Bit fragile this morning so we had a long drive back home and a late breakfast with FiL sausages. Straight swap for 6 faggots! Now all I need is a decent tart.
Oh, and the answer to the Lions on Wednesday.
PM to &
I used the Yellow Thing up for the year, but I dids warns you all!0
