Got back from my Fri-Mon bargain coach break on Mon evening. Dr C. not well at all, so have been worried sick myself, but he is now on suitable meds and much, much better.
So now I can share pleasures with a lighter heart.
1. The Isle of Wight. I'd never been and oh, I want to go again. Many people had remarked on how it was a step out of time with the rest of the UK, some said like in the Fifties, others Seventies.
Well, I didn't find that (though I did have that experience in rural Northern Ireland when I visited regularly 10 years ago). What I found was a whole island of beautiful scenery, good service, polite, friendly people and absolutely no litter or vandalism that I could see.
Saw a lot of the Island and loved it all.
2. My DD was 35 the day after our DD was 50. She loved her birthday gifts - she has also been a brick through this latest crisis with DS. It has strengthened their relationship even more.
3. Not putting on too much weight during my break, though the meals were lovely and we had lots of eating out treats.
Due to the international scooter rally being on our coach party had to be split between two hotels, one in Shanklin and one in Sandown. Ours was in Sandown and though it didn't have wi-fi, it was nicer overall. There was even an adjustable bed in our disability friendly room.
4. Friend that came with me dropped off a huge bag of delicious apples from the tree in her garden. They are green eating apples but slightly tart, not a Granny Smith though.
5. Your pleasures, joys and sorrows, enjoyed reading all. Now to crack on with work with a lighter mind and being able to focus more sharply. Praise be.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Get well soon DrC, I would say that I may still have my nurse's uniform, but BoP might misunderstand my intentions, lol :0)
Just had a heart in mouth moment when I saw that I missed a call from the estate agent, then before ringing them back, I remembered that I've exchanged, if anything goes wrong now, I get the 10% deposit money which would pay the mortgage handsomely for the next year! Evilly, part of me would like it to go belly up, as I would then be able to move back next year, but........we are looking forward to new excitement and a new home after I qualify
Will be back later with pleasures.....0 -
Get well soon DrC, I would say that I may still have my nurse's uniform, but BoP might misunderstand my intentions, lol :0)
But this DrC, some upstart quack. Mind u lots, I thinks I nose yer legs will go to jelly should the quack appear on the scene.
5 Pitch invasion on the Scrabble Board the other nite. Darn Tom Cat. He managed to knock of Ms Whacks biggest word of the night, But. Still this week it is 3-0 to BoP, with one match abandoned due to crowd trouble and the cat.
4 Got the snorkers eggs and bits ready for the morning. Going to be a big one. Now do we have beans or SpagYETTI hoops.
3 Days until new job.
2 gether with Ms Whack.
1 We should care not whilst sat in the cottage watching ...
Oh and the Migraine sufferers. Tip from BoP. As soon as one thinks of occurring, look at some contrasting such as grey blue. Carpet tiles are good. Do not take the pills! You may have to look for twenty minutes, just at the floor. While I am nose I not as good as the quack you lot wince about, I can say it works for me.
Do not get up and look out of the window and go for a coffee, that will cause contrasting colours light
And lay off the caffine after 11's and the biscuit as well.
Good pastel colour here

Was told this a few years back, have had starts since, but no attacks!
See BoP, fair tastier than some upstart quack!0 -
BoP you had me.........right up until you said lay off the biscuits.......*sigh*0

Hear hear!
mcculloch - I'm so glad you enjoyed the Island.Glad to hear Dr C is on the mend, too.
Kittikins - :j:j:j:j:j
1) Not a bad sleep - I think the baby upstairs has gone, which supports my impression that it belonged to guests and not the couple who live there, which can only be good news (they're the couple who had the nasty, physical fight a few weeks ago, so the idea of a baby in there permanently wasn't a nice one).
2) Gloomy and threatening-looking weather all day, but the yellow thing made an appearance late on.
3) Went to get my hair cut and the hairdresser decided to use me as a source of information on behalf of his partner, who is considering becoming a mature student. I can't say that discussing comparative academic standards, professional accreditations and possible bursaries was exactly top of my list of things to do on a Friday evening, but I'll count it as my good deed for the day. :A
4) Spotted a man accidentally dropping his muzzle (well, his dog's muzzle) and managed to catch his attention before he walked off without it. :A
5) Typing this while sipping a bottle of apple wobbleade won at last night's quiz. :beer:Back after a very long break!0 -
Ah its like comin home readin all these posts:D
As snoozin seems very 'in' i thought I'd join in but..
1. Special afternoon nap with OHas DS was at work!
2. NSD:D thats 21 this month:A
3. Baked potatoes:D HG and HG coleslaw (and there was only 3 cattypillars on my cabbage, I should spray them but the butterflies are sooo pretty and its only money isn't it:D)
4. Oooh first order for tatties for the chip shop:D and I managed to get the same price for them as they pay everyone else! I wasn't soft and I didn't give in! £7 for 25kg is a bargain:D
5. Dehydrated courgettes and peppers, oh they're so pretty. Yes, I know, they're just food, but they just look like sweeties:D
6. Me and apple shaped dog had a longer evening walk, we're bonding! She even walked to heel! A whole half hour of sniffing and pooping(but enough about my morning regime:p) but she wouldn't stop to let me eat blackberries.
The more I work the happier I feel, and the more love there is to spread around xx so big hugs to all xx its THAT weekend so I may not be back till sunday;)2013 NSD 100. Pleasures for today.
1) Felt a bit better again.
2) Not a bad sleep.
3) Phoned council re: smaller son's school transport. What a good job I did! They had absolutely no record of him (!) and phoned back 4 hours later saying they thought he was starting at his new school on Tuesday. Erm.... no!
4) Went down to brother's to play table tennis. Sons are getting really quite good now. Also put brother's chairs on Ebay for him.
5) Walked to the nearest pub (5 mile round trip). Enjoyed my ginger beer this evening. We walk all along the footpaths so heard owls/saw bats etc. Also bumped into my school friend's mum (from primary school) so had a chat with her.
6) Sons went off to run about madly with MrN's son5 for a bit in the dark.0
