LFS - how cruel, hope the bike is found and brought back x
CCP - just buy frozen butternut squash, I find it much easier now, having suffered many a grated or sliced finger x
1. Sunshine
2. Got very stressed by lunchtime as it turned out people were saying any old baloney about exchanging on the house, but after lunch, had two calls from both sets of estate agents placating me.......but still no exchange. At least I know that there is some action taking place, maybe tomorrow I'll have better news? The pleasure is that I didn't have a complete meltdown, but I think if I hadn't been in an office, I might have!
3. Not a pleasure as such, but was asked if I could stay in my temping job for a bit longer as I'm so goodNo, they know I'm off and will be starting in a school on Tuesday, but nice to feel appreciated!
4. One of the chaps in the office helped me with some, yup, maths - he got the answer but neither of us could work out an elegant way of explaining it! Back to the textbooks....
5. DD and I met some new folks tonight. We went out for a walk to try and meet the girl we've heard will be in her class; duly met and DD and her and some other children went off to the park, whilst I dawdled behind, so as not to cramp anyone's style. I then got chatting to a lovely woman and her daughter and met various dogs along the way. So, one happy DD, one happy Kittikins who may have a new person to say hello to at any village gatherings.
6. Smartie cookies (yup, plural) - they got me through the stress0 -
Good morning....Thursday here and I'm on a day off already!
Sme Wednesday pleasures
Work....long may the happy feeling continue....had a great day, I'm learning so much , nice bunch of folk , nice customers!
As I'm so amazing and they realise they need me ( as much as I need them) moving onto full time hours from next week....phew! Although I get a higher hourly rate than last job it was less hours, so this will mean more cash! We need it for sons education fund which is very sickly at the moment!
For lunch....all made fresh to order....the most perfect food I've ever eaten ...pumpkin and ricotta ravioli, with an olive oil emulsion and Parmesan cheese. I just couldn't believe how perfect it tasted....I have a whole menu to get through! And even better its free! Low carb out the window!!
Went into city with the girls on the train, son met us from uni and OH joined us there, we were going to someone's leaving do. They had worked at the hotel where OH stayed for yonks when he worked here before we all moved out. She is moving on to a new job and we were invited to farewell party. Nice to catch up with some familiar faces!
I ( again) missed most of the sunny weather but it was very pleasant waiting for the train and then the walk from station to the hotel ....a gentle warmth at that time of day but certainly warm not blooming cold!
Receiving an email from estate agents back home saying we may ( fingers crossed) have new tenants , just waiting on their references being checked out. Previous tenants won't get much of their deposit back . This makes me a but sad, this is a much loved by us, family home. I truly loved my house, we worked hard to afford to buy it and we rent it out to cover some of the costs of keeping it . It certainly does not even cover 50% . So we still very much have a vested interest in it and will return there one day.
Because we rent here , we look after the house we are living in and I just expected the same to happen to our house back home. Anyway....hopefully new tenants will be a bit more loving!
I am going to get up and make the most of my day off ( but do have another one tomorrow) ....night night to you all!

Yum, sounds delish mhags x
Any mathematicians on here? I'm feeling stupid, trying to work out if there's a formula for how many imaginary chocolate/fruit bars this imaginary child can buy for £5! Grrrrr....there was a reason I didn't do maths after the age of 16, too blooming complicated!0 -
I'm not very well. :-( Probably just something I've eaten but half the sight out of my right eye disappeared earlier and was replaced with shimmering, wavy lines. Was all too similar to when I had meningitis so that put the wind up me but the eye thing has gone now and I just feel rough.
Anyway! Pleasures for today.
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went to the river with brother to check the eel trap. We've not caught a single eel in there this year but an unfortunate mink had got caught instead.
3) Bigger son stayed on to do lots of fishing so smaller son and I went back to mum and dad's and played table tennis.
4) Tasty lunch of cakes and sandwiches left over from a party mum and dad had last night.
5) Got sons new school bags.
6) Hair cut! College has been shut for so long it was starting to look quite silly. Back to my normal 3cm now.
That's about it!0 -
Good morning all !
LFS - how horrible . I hope you get it back , probably being flogged at some local boot fair.
VJsmum- yep but I don't have kids to think about or ...er nitsAnimogs calm me down- always had 'em and hope I always will.A pony in Dad's shed and an escapee horse sauntered into the kitchen at the Parentals , they are not keen on lino you know:rotfl:
Frith - please get yourself checked out xx
CCP- ouch !
KK- carp at Maths sorry
Have a good day all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0 -
Frith - that sounds like a migraine to me. Definitely worth getting checked out if it's something new.
Thanks for all the squash suggestions - usually I do roast them, as you suggest VJsmum, but this time I wanted peeled chunks to put in a stew. In future I think I'll roast it and add the cooked stuff to the stew at the end of cooking - it may not be as nice but it will be much safer!
LFS - sorry to hear about the bike - that's really sad.Back after a very long break!0 -
Mine are now well past the nit stage hooray but i remember it well. I also remember the chemist saying best (and very mse) treatment was vinegar and nit comb. Much better than fowl smelling and bliddy expensive nit treatment.
frith yes get checked out of only for your own piece of mind
1) lie-in woohoo no conference to get up for
2) breakfast in the appartment then out into a lovely sunny prague where we headed for the castle
3) xoh's leg is still bad so we stopped for coffee in a cafe at the bottom of the long climb for xoh to see if it recovered. It didnt :-( so she went back to the appartment to watch midsommers on youtube that are blocked in the uk and we headed up to the castle
4) bought the long tour tickets. The 4 'children' all got half priced tickets cos they all had their uni cards on them yay. That allowed us to see the cathedral, st georges church, palace, powder tower, paintings, golden lane, the history of the castle and the castle itself. We stopped for lunch after the 3rd and in true mse style decided 5 lunches would be too uch so shared 4 between us.
5) then back through the vineyards and home where dd2 cooked supper again. What a star (and again very mse). We've decided breakfast and evening meal in the appartment, and have one meal out per day. Tomorrow is the boat trip which should be Ok for xoh's leg. Now we're all going to watch a midsommer murder as we are tooooo tired for the smetna concert.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

1) More yellow stuff.
2) Found a nice set of earrings RTC at lunchtime, then found when I got to the till that they had been reduced further. :money:
3) Came home early from work as I was feeling very unwell, whether because of my finger, or because I'm not sleeping properly thanks to the wailing baby upstairs, or because I've caught a bug I really don't know.I curled up on the bed for a while and, although I didn't sleep - I've got to be practically at death's door before I can sleep during the day - I did feel a bit brighter afterwards.
4) Had a close encounter of the lupine variety when I went out to water the garden and woke a rather startled fox who clearly thought he'd found a nice, quiet place for an afternoon nap!
5) Decided I am going to go out tonight as I need to ask a friend if she can garden-sit while I'm away on holiday; I'm going to steer clear of alcohol as I'm still feeling a bit wobbly which gives me the chance to try the new, locally-produced fruit juices I've had my eye on for a few weeks. :beer:Back after a very long break!0 -
Good evening all!
Dundee - nice post:D Didn't spot your paltry poultry typo !
PK - I hope you are ok hun? xx

2.Meds doing funny things to me, but not too horrible so I will stick to them.
3. Took my ancient MRI scans into work when tumour and brainstem cyst were in situ at the request of my colleagues. Much interest as they are freaky images . More interesting than any of my holiday snaps ever !!:rotfl:
4.Scampi and chips for tea. Nice and simple
5. Day off tomorrow cos its my Friday (and it's pay day )
Have a good evening all !:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A0
