Top of the morning to ya

Something fishy is going on round here :rotfl:

Tealady, yes please! Never too early :D OH and I discovered it during a cellar tour in Oporto years ago, we'd never heard of it before, but it's lovely.

Piecemeal, so sorry for your loss. I am attending my friend /colleagues husbands funeral tomorrow. I never met him but have known her for 15 years and so six of us are going to show her some support.
CCP - what a you planning with your day? Hope it's relaxing
Chicken - was tempted to abandon him. His attitude stinks at the moment. "Can't be bothered" is all we seem to hear, even for exciting things, I offered to pay for him and his mate to go to our local theme park (courtesy of Mr T vouchers) "no thanks, can't be bothered. It's not very exciting anyway". I think we've spoilt him :( or it is just that he is 14.
Digforvictory - at first I thought it was you and the podiatrist sitting reading together :rotfl:
Skint -mmm pub lunch instead of swimming sounds great to me
Frith - wish I'd stayed up for the perseids. Just too tired
DD - hugs, maybe you need to loiter round the tip like sparrer does :p
Mhags, it does seem like new job people are messing you around, or just haven't thought it through
    BoP enjoy your last day

    Yesterday's pleasures

1 back to work is not a pleasure but not being engulfed with stuff is. Others seem to be overrun with work, but I'm not and I am keeping quiet about it
2 making colleague laugh when she said something "wasn't about the money" and I broke into my best Jessie J impression
3 home early ish to take otherwise lazy son to the gym with his mate. Then OH took them both to a local footie match. The mates parents own a local leisure business so DS gets lots of freebies (including the gym) so it is always nice to do something in return (hence the theme park offer)
4 oh a pleasure from Monday night when DDs friend wrote something on FB about being anxious for her A level results, I replied that I failed mine but still managed to eventually get 2 degrees. She replied with something so embarrassingly flattering that I can't repeat it but it was lovely to read
5 cooked "a girl called jack"s carrot cumin and kidney bean burgers. They were yummy, but next time I will put some chilli in.

Having a "Sri Lanka" day today (when I went in January, I only got paid for half the week, with the rest as time owing). However I am taking DS shopping for clothes and then football boots, I have to do the boots last as otherwise he won't choose any clothes.

    Have a good one all
I wanna be in the room where it happens

VJsmum - now there's a lovely idea! Pod & I sat, curled up with good books whilst beyond a soundproof door, four chaps let rip with sterile Swann Norton blades. Not sure it would get BigDig's foot sorted, as well as being a lamentable waste of sterile blades, but it would be interesting to see what they carved...
Hugs to all who need them & have a good day!

Given all the talk about surnames recently, y'all might find this interesting - http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2013/aug/12/what-surnames-tell-us-ourselves - I spent a chunk of yesterday morning reading through the article and all the comments at the end, which are just as interesting.

I suspect I know what yours is, sparrer - kinda like a rabbit, but younger and a different species?

Mine comes from a medieval word for a pilgrim, which seems rather appropriate given my interest in church history.

    1. Went to see DD as it's their wedd/ann, took card, flowers etc. Got completely soaked by the new little tongue which is very effective. Not too keen on the French kissing though!

Ah yes, what my DSis refers to as 'dog snogs'! :rotfl:

I'm feeling slightly kebabed this morning after perching (there's those fish again ;)) on a wall to stroke next door's cat, and she came to sit on my lap. :) After a few months sans moggy, I'd almost forgotten how sharp cats' claws can be when they knead you!

piecemeal - so sorry to hear of your loss.
Back after a very long break!

I'd love to say I found a good use for my day off, but I woke up with a headache this morning and never quite found the energy or enthusiasm to do... well, anything, really! :o

    1) Lie-in this morning as I didn't have to go to work.

    2) NSD and NPD.

    3) Played some more of the computer game my sister gave me for my birthday, and I seem to be getting better at it!

    4) Started putting my new bird table together then found that the soil level in the garden isn't deep enough to get the spike safely into the ground - the soil just cover a layer of rubble, presumably to help with draniage - so I called my trusty DF and he will come over with his masonary drill at some point to make a nice, deep hole. And it means I get to spend an afternoon with my dad, which is always a pleasure. :)

    5) Football on TV tonight - if I can get ITV's decidedly dubious website to work, anyway. :undecided
Back after a very long break!

You got it CCP but at least I'm not as hairy (sic) as ol' BoP!

Good news BoP, it'll be over before you know it and you'll be reunited with the lovely Mrs BoP permanently :D

    Good evening all !

piecemeal - I am sorry for your loss.

VJsmum -thats a nice thing to do for your friend /colleague tomorrow. When I was your DS's age I always said "no" to everything regardless of whether it was a nice treat or not . I still do tbh !

    Skintos -thankyou x

DD- you will find someone as lovely as you are .

Frith - your sons sound like they are having a lovely time .

    5 for today

    1. I feel very spikey today and my manager has been referring all of the work to me as he knows it will get done. I told him to back off as I work part time and the full timers are sitting twiddling there thumbs.

2.Took terrier to the park .

    3. Picked loads of blackberries from the garden and two courgettes .I have frozen the blackberries and must do a crumble or something with them.

    4. Chicken fried rice for tea ( got 4 of my 5 a day in it) in my lovely non stick ceramic pan ! However I am now typing with my left index finger in the air as I have cut the tip quite deeply and its bleeding a lot. Pleasure ? I have no feeling on my left side I heard it crunch against the nail and felt nothing !

    5. Restoration Home is on soon. I will not be interupted by OH talking "shop"!!

Have a good evening all !
:AToo fat to be Felicity Kendal , but aim for a bit more of the good life :A

    3. The money we saved this weekend we have stashed away for our holiday in a fortnight.:)
    4. Picked up some bits for the ogv from a chap who was scrapping his over in Margate.:D

Monday / Tuesday were a bit mmmft really so Weds..
    1. 1.I’ve booked in a few away for a few days in October over in Devon to stay on a fantastic campsite that’s actually an animal rescue centre, can’t wait it’s been a very long time since we explored over that way.:j
    2. I spent a VERY long time working on the tax online portal getting various forms up to date they are now all submitted and I just need that email to say accepted to be a vast amount less stressed, then phoned and talked to a lovely tax woman which was a bit of a shocker.;):rotfl:
    3. I can’t say what a hughe relief it is to have tackled the very and daunting forms above.:o
    4. Had today off and spent a lot of the day resting but feel better for the painkillers and laying down I’m fine now:)
    5. Totally CBA with ordering in, ½ price voucher and laziness.:o:o
    6. Just rescued the washing in from the rain
    7. Another cup full of tomatoes.
  • evening everyone x

    1. swimming this morning. Sciatica twinges from when I got up this morning (5.30am ...bit of a lie in haha) until when I got in the pool

    2. met another friend for lunch 30 min walk there and back again and nice food... 2nd pub lunch this week but I am still on me 'olidays :o (Maybe one day I can do all this exercise without the need for ibuprofen, co-codamol and gabapentin before during and after)

    3. Sorted car insurance for DS new car, he picks it up Friday. Hate insurance at the best of times even worse trying to sort for an 18 year old who thinks he knows everything !!
