I am very sorry to hear about your friend, piecemeal.

Here are my pleasures for today/late last night:

    1) Camping! We started last night behind my brother's (on the side of the valley) and had a campfire and cooked sausages on it. Put up our 2 tiny and knackered tents. Then we hung around til the Perseids started and I watched them until midnight. Probably saw 30 or more.

    2) Up this morning and sons had already got up, got the fire going again and were eating marshmallows for breakfast. :-)

    3) Went fishing in the river and set up an eel trap.

    4) Gutted the kitchen! The builder is starting at 9 in the morning so I: took down 6 shelves, one wall cabinet, boxed everything up (before I took all the storage down!)... now all that is left is the cooker, fridge/freezer and one drawer unit that looks like it is holding up the work surface.

I knew the units looked ropey when I moved in (14 years ago) and I took the wall cabinet one down to find 1970s wallpaper behind it and LIVE WIRES. So they can definitely be buried below the new plaster! Excruciating brown, brown and brown wallpaper in a weird paisley pattern if paisley made tiles. :-/

    5) Sons very tired after the camping last night so they have been resting in their sleeping bags a lot watching films. Helped me get on with the kitchen faster! They've been in bed a while now.

    6) Tasty tea of jacket potatoes and left over curry. Last meal I shall be cooking for several days.

    7) Builder popped in to double check things for tomorrow and it seems I shall be able to fit in another small base unit. For many years I have just had a double base unit - that's it! Everything else has been in two wall cabinets and stacked up on open shelving.

    8) Early night tonight and ISIHAC. I think its still on?

    Evening

Piecemeal - Sorry to hear about your friend (((hugs)))
VJsmum - Would you like me to pour you a white port:D

    Pleasures for today,
    1. Credit card bill arrived and much less than thought so will be some money to transfer into savings this month, which is all good as took a battering last month due to holiday.
    2. Sorting out cupboards at work and found a box full of bits for the vending machine we used to have. Loads of boxes of tights were going to be thrown out so brought them home for DD. We have also left some at work for if people need an emergency pair at work. :money: From the sort out also have a big bag of things to go to the charity shop for the local hospice.
    3. Lunch with a friend I don't see very often was lovely to catch up.
    4. Popped into M&S on way home from work as needed some ham for lunches tomorrow and they had just reduced 2 pork loin joints down from £7.50 to £2.25 each so picked up both. One now cooked, just needs slicing for the lunches and the other is in the freezer for use another day.
    5. Beef noodle soup for dinner with a portion left over which I was hoping to have for lunch tomorrow but DD has laid claim to. Oh well at least not going to waste. Also prepared some fresh pineapple to have as a snack at work. I got 2 pineapples for a £1 at the weekend.

Hugs to all who need them

Speaking of names my maiden name (to which I have reverted) is a hoppy animal, first married name a tree, second married name a fish. All very 'country'.

chicken the cat is definitely not blue & white striped, I don't shop there on principle :p. Last time I had an eye test, at specsavers, I was told I didn't need glasses, I think I'd better go back!
CCP it must have been a shock for you at the time but it made me chuckle :D
piecemeal, my condolences to the widower of your friend

    1. Went to see DD as it's their wedd/ann, took card, flowers etc. Got completely soaked by the new little tongue which is very effective. Not too keen on the French kissing though!
    2. DD and I went to the Chinese warehouse, fatal. Makes prices in the usual sm's look horrific so we both bought 'a little' too much
    3. Bought a mug with a lid in the above, I'm always letting my tea get cold so thought it might be the answer. It works
    4. Took some garden waste to the tip, a very kind young man saw me struggling with two bags and took them from me, then asked if I had anything else and took the other four bags out of the boot for me. And all because I admired the ink of a tree on his leg ;)
    5. Got the steam cleaner out - bought two years ago and wasn't impressed at the time - to try it again, this time took my time to read and learn and was very impressed with it. I didn't realise how grubby the taps were where I can't see, and the cooker is/was a disgrace!

I do lead an exciting life, don't I?
May not be on line for a week or so as DGS3 is coming to pick up the lappy to try to rescue it before it expires completely.
    Take care, sweet dreams :)

Not Mrs Kangaroo? My surname is also the name given to one of British Rail's freight wagons. I think several of them have fish names as there is a Roach as well.

Ha ha not not kangaroo, though it's definitely bouncy, and British. Oh, and it's the young, not the adult. I'm going fishing with a friend and her husband soon, we're fishing for roach - or it is tench? It could be perch, I not very good at the names having never been fishing before :o

Hello we've just had a mad hailstorm...glad I was inside and not out in it!

    Up and about early.
Bravely ventured upstairs and 2 bags of rubbish, 3 bags for charity later...it looks a bit tidier. DD1 is very untidy and DD2 not so bad but they both have so much 'stuff!'
Had a look through my wardrobe and filled another bag for the op shop....they are in the boot of the car , so will drop them off next time I'm out.
Listened to my audio book...tis a long one 10CDs so I'm on CD7.

I'm getting a bit peed of re new job....I sent owner a text yesterday and she said she'd call......still waiting. I really can't afford another week off work, we should have opened last Tuesday. I appreciate there have been hold ups and they are frustrated as well....not being open means they are losing out on money too but let us know what's happening!
I'm not spending much money whilst off...deliberately but we do have commitments that my wages cover.....Saturday scones and sons uni fees!

Anyway.....I have not missed my old work once since I left....just I'm more than ready to get back to work, earn some money and do something more constructive than blooming housework!

    Y'all have a lovely day

ETA ... Found $4 and our wedding rings whilst sorting through things! We both had to have our rings cut off for different reasons.....I'd obviously put them in a ' safe ' place when we moved 18 months ago!
