1) Got a bit of a scare when my credit card bill arrived and it was a bit , despite having been really careful with money this month - then remembered that I had paid for my hotel and train travel for my holiday next month, which is where all the money went.
2) Took some lunch into work and it was very nice.
3) I've been having serious problems with my PC recently and thought I'd have to get a new one, but a bit of experimenting this evening has shown that the problem was mostly with my web browser and it's fine now I'm using a different one.
4) Made a veg and tofu stirfry for dinner and it was .
5) No pub quiz tonight, which is a pleasure as I'm not feeling in the mood for going out anyway.
BoP - :j at the freedom of our favourite pirate.Back after a very long break!0 -
Hello all, I've been reading but not posting (well, I think my last post got lost in the ether....).
1. Having had a major tumble yesterday on a slippery floor (not a pleasure!), the joy is that I was able to go to my temp job today and my bruising is looking far worse than it feels!
2. One of the academics brought in some beautiful lillies which brightened up my reception area for a little while - I think they were for his wife, but he left them in a vase in my area for the afternoon, very nice of him
3. Received a refund for part of my now not needed TV licence.
4. Water bill has been received and is less than I was dreading!
5. After trying a billion or so times, I finally got through to tax credits to update them with the temp job (sadly though I won't have any tc this week)
6. Pay day tomorrow, woohoo!
7. exboyf (exOH, MrA, etc etc) sent me an interesting link on FB after I shared a scary fracking article. Nice that we can be 'friends', but no thanks to going back there again!
8. DD is just the most gorgeous little cherub in my world - she was very caring when I fell xx
9. Took out some fab books from the library, so glad I'm temping within easy walking distance of free books(and glad I'll be at uni and will have even more to choose from soon!)
10. iplayerI can keep in touch with the odd TV programme that I like, rather than avoiding some of the stuff my parents enjoy
11. I have found lots of fun, educational outings for DD and I to enjoy around Oxford over the coming months.0 -
CCP: I can relate to that bill opening feeling. Glad it was just a ops.;)
1. Work was ok tis over for another day, and WFH tomorrow – hurrah:)
2. I got back early rather than wait about as we were going past Mr T we thought we would pick up bread milk, maybe because it’s school hols I guess but we lucked out, well personally I think it’s fate:cool:.. as they RTC’d very early to the late evening prices, tonight’s dinner was one of those Indian fake away boxes for 2, reduced to 55p. We also filled a shelf of the freezer with meats.:T
3. My glasses split on the screw where the lenses goes in, the pleasure knowing we have ordered the new ones just in time, doesn’t feel like money wasted.:o
4. A friend of ours went into labor 3 days ago now, she is desperate for a home birth but its not going quite as planned, we went over there today and bought back the animals with us to look after as she doesn’t want to worry about them too.:) A pleasure to be able to help.
5. Cinnamon buns, rtc of course, just er cause.:o:o
6. Looking forward to getting bits done in between the work bits tomorrow, it's a bit sad really looking forward to hoovering.:rotfl:0 -

Kittikins- I had been waiting for a MrA update and wondered what had happened.
Worn out! Here are my pleasures for today:
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Plastering done!
3) Went to check the eel traps in the river. No eels but 20 little fish! We let them out.
4) Lunch at mum and dad's as we have no kitchen.
5) Swimming with sons and my brother.
6) Cleaned the stairs, kitchen floor and bit of living room floor I could get too. Will be dirty again tomorrow when they put the units in but I couldn't bear walking through dust and crunchy bits of plaster any longer!
7) B and Q for a new cooker switch, tiles for the windowsill and a different unit. The kitchen looked better when I took the old 1000mm unit down so I will have a 400mm one instead and cram everything in!
8) Went out for an Indian with sons which was most pleasant.
9) Just put kitchen cabinets together. Have hit nailbed on thumb and if the bruising continues at this rate, I might have to post a photo of it tomorrow!
Bath and bed now.0 -
Hurrah for Friday and all that!
Wild and windy day but sunny and dry.
Made a chilli this morning
Made pancakes for girls breakfast
Drove to new work and did a bit of sorting out stuff and cleaning....I now have washerwoman hands
Nice chat with friend from home
DD2 having a crappy time at school but her big sister and friends have decided enough is enough and went en masse to head of year at school. Brought to their attention ( again) but they can't do anything until DD2 officially complains....which she won't do. She doesn't want me to go to school about , although I have emailed and spoken to staff but until she decides enough is enough there's not much we or they can do. Anyway....hurrah for big sisters and their friends !
Have a lovely day0 -
morning, from a very dark and wet midlands
Sparrer - vaccinated with a gramophone needle, love that
Chicken, - ooh red arrows. REminds me of when I did the Great North Run, they fly over at the start. (and do a display at the finish, but I didn't get there in time for that). We saw a French equivalent last week when we were canoeing.
Ooh, ouch, Kittikins
PK - Love it when you hit the supermarket "just right" like that. Hasn't happened in a while - though I did get a pack of rolls for 5p the other day.
Frith - good luck with kitchen installation
Mhags - boo for your DD and hurrah for her sister. Boo to the school, they bliddy well should be doing something about it.
Yesterdays pleasures
1. Clever DD got 3 A's and a B in her AS levels :T Not quite sure how, given how little work she seemed to do. I guess she must have been doing some somewhere. She was very relieved so I guess it must have been bothering her a little. The B is in French which she was always going to drop from now.
2. Work was OK, and someone brought in chocolates
3. Funeral went OK (friend / colleague's husband), so many people it took my breath away - goodness knows what it did to her. It's strange going to a funeral of someone you've never met - when given a few minutes to think of your memories of X, you haven't got any. Is it wrong that I noticed a cobweb at the crem during that time? The pleasure was that there was a good turnout for colleague which she will draw comfort from and my old boss turned up and it's always lovely to see her. All my retired colleagues are an advert for retirement.
4. Met with (different) friend for coffee - her DD got the required 3 A grades she needed for Uni :T, another friends son got 3 A* and is off to Oxford. Such clever children.
5. Went out for a meal to celebrate. lovely food and the children were great company.
FN is arriving today :jI wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Spider is well nourished in the sink. Ms BoP has to go out of the front door only. Should I let the little incy wincy little spider out or leave for another day.
5 Nesting. Just emptied me bag and handed back Ms Crack the de crinkle cream, in used, as I do not have any worst ans sorts.
4 going to get ruffer, as no need to trim, shave and splash the auld spice on for a week or too. Ms BoP has already felt the edge give her more tingles.
3 Away bag unpacked and bag of washing given to Lady Slack. Problem is, spider in sink prevents her from going near the machine.
2 Gether with Ms BoP.

Well done VJs daughter!!0 -
I've had visitors this week, so am a bit behind with this thread, but well done to everyone that got their results yesterday:
My pleasures:
1 - Mum coming round and (without being asked) doing all my weeding for me, while OH is overseas. Being heavily pregnant does have its perks
2 - A NSD
3 - Jacket Potato and homemade ratatouille for tea. I have also made so much ratatouille we'll be eating it for months...
4 - Getting a chance to sit and chill and do some knitting
5 - Watching the fantastic 'The Sapphires' on Lovefilm, I highly recommend it
Have a great day everyoneRecovering Shopaholic
