Hello , early Sunday morning, still dark but birds starting to wake up and sing. All is very quiet in the mhagster household.
    Saturday pleasures:

Up at a ridiculously early time (4.30am) meant I could call my sister . The current time difference doesn't work well in her favour so thought sod it! I'll just get up and call, so a good hour long chat with her.

Then a 2 hour chat with my friend from home. We catch up every week at least once and whilst her son wonders what we can talk about for 2 hours every week we have no problems filling the time!

Whilst chatting, i did a bit of multi tasking and chopped the last of the rhubarb from garden ( something had eaten all the leaves and just stalks were left) , made rhubarb and ginger jam, then made tablet ( Scottish sweet), and cleaned my oven ( normally I'm not quite as productive )

Went for Saturday scone , sat in front of log fire and enjoyed date scone and a hot chocolate....'twas a chilly morning!

Walked to our local fruit shop ( via op shop with a big bag of DD2's clothes that don't fit ) and got lots of nice fruit at a very reasonable price....no more buying at supermarket for us)

Home and dozed! Was obviously exhausted after my early start!

Then DD1 wanted a new school jumper and was paying for it herself, so I bought her a new school shirt. They are so expensive as they have to have school name on. As she is in senior school she can optionally wear a different coloured jumper.....she felt she wasn't getting the respect deserved with her old jumper ....so she paid for a new one!

Then home for a marathon tidy up / cooking / baking session as we had friends over for supper.

I baked sausages ( from freezer stock) in a caramelised onion sauce, rtc chicken wrapped in soft cheese and the most inflexible bacon known to man! ( so, not so much wrapped as sat on top!) , a salad and a small cheese board. Then , the prettiest little meringues, cream and very cheap strawberries....which I stood for ages in a queue to buy. The big, bad boy meringues are in another tub for today! Also had tablet and gave my friend a tub of that to take home.

We had a lovely night of chat and laughter and good food, they left about 10pm ,so it wasn't a late night .....then it was time for bed.

So , a rather pleasant Saturday. It was nice to have company. I miss my friends from home, we always had friends and family popping in and I loved to cook and bake for them. I loved getting my table all set for a dinner party or a buffet and enjoyed providing delicious food for them.

Have a lovely night ....rainy day here today so not sure what we'll get up to!

Evening all :) just back and will catch up with your posts tomorrow but for now my 5 -

    1. New car went beautifully, returning a very impressive mpg
    2. DS's new dog - the size of a pony! And as soft as butter even though he was abandoned when his previous owners moved. Pleased DS chose a rescue as I've always done
    3. Lots of shopping in cheapy shops that are everywhere up there. Even a meat 'factory' where I bought a carrier full of steak, duck etc and paid very little for it
    4. Was so good to see the grandchildren, they're so helpful, polite and thoughtful - and of course very beautiful. A credit to DS and his OH
    5. An amazing graduation ceremony, hundreds of students and hundreds more very proud parents. DS starts training for his new career at the end of the month and will be able to continue with his refereeing which will put the jam on his bread and butter

Hugs to all, off to my little wooden bed as I'm totally drained! Sleep tight :)

Just a quick post tonight - look at the time!! Recovering from neighbour's squealing and music playing on into the night. I got to sleep just after 2.30 and they were still out there....

    1) Got beds changed and 2 loads of washing out on the line. (One is still out there but I don't think it is going to rain!)

    2) Did a few quick geocaches. 30 degrees plus this afternoon.

    3) Went to mum and dad's church fete. Bought some fairy cakes and won a book light on the tombola that bigger son will love.

    4) Popped back to mum and dad's and had a few games of table tennis with brother.

    5) Took some cakes and tombola prizes to an old lady in the village who cannot drive now but had asked mum to get her some bits from the fete. I don't know her very well (but her sister in law was mum's neighbour and looked after us when we were little) but she asked me in, chatted for ages, introduced me to her cats etc!

    6) Then went to my school friend's house for tea and to watch Casualty and not long got home.

    Had a good day yesterday.

    1. Met a friend for coffee and had free refils.

    2. Tidied the front gaden it looks so much better now.

    3. A friend of DS2 cane round to give DS2 a lift and he stayed for a while and I had good conversation with them both.

    4. DH and me went to beer festival at local rugby club - good evening with friends and sitting out in the sun.

    5. Meeting DS1 at beer festival and chatting with him and his friends.

It's Sunday afternoon and here are my pleasures...

1-5 I have an interview for dream job( I hope) tomorrow at 4pm! Quite delighted by that, lady I spoke to seemed keen for me to go in and have a look round. It's a new business and not anywhere nearly finished but they open in 2 weeks.....tell you more tomorrow if I get the job!!

    6. Early morning potter around the kitchen listening to Jeremy Vine on my iPad .
    7. Went on a drive through some wild and wooly countryside today! We had dropped DD2 off at school for show rehearsals and were heading to a winery for morning coffees....took a wrong turn and ended up in the middle of blooming nowhere on single track, rather scary at times (me not OH) roads, all twists and turns with nothing but gulleys below us ( full of....in my imagination.. snakes, scorpions and man eating spiders!) I do not share my husbands sense of adventure!
We finally came out on a main road with other cars and signs of human life! Found a cafe we have passed often but never went in. Had a lovely breakfast and mooch through a couple of glossy magazines. Bursting for a wee.....loo was outside and downstairs and oh dear the door wouldn't close properly! Had to use it though and just prayed no one else came down!

Then ,lets go on some more winding tracks and get a bit lost again ( not really too lost as we did have sat nav) then we drove up to Kinglake. This small town was almost wiped out with the bush fires 4 years ago and it is good to see so much rebuilding and repatriation of the community.....however the weather was shocking! Horizontal rain, wind blowing a hooly and freezing! Stopped for a coffee and sat in front of their lovely log fire!

Then checked my phone and saw I had a voicemail but no reception up in the hills so we had to wait until suburbia before we got a reception.

Home and sat and read a new book....set in Scotland ...bought in bargain box in Australia! Munching on very posh chocolates ,friends brought last night.

An easy dinner of tagliatelle to be made tonight and lost of good programmes on, Sundays probably my best night for the telly!

Have a lovely Sunday...may your sunny days continue!!
