    10. 3 fantastic hardback books for DD's that-celebration-at-the-end-of-the-year (am I allowed to mention Christ*** yet? lol) arrived from Book People - only £10 for the lot, free delivery and ultra-speedy delivery, yay :)

I hope so, as I'm about to do so with my belated fifth pleasure from yesterday:

    5) Chatting to one of my pub quiz team mates about C*******s and she said that she still has some jars of last year's HM mincemeat left and I can have one. :D

ampersand - your pork cheeks sound lovely (so to speak... :o). That's so sad about x's partner - so hard on all concerned, including the partner, of course. :(

sugarpuss - it's nice to see you over here - welcome to the thread, and thanks for your lovely pleasures. :)
Back after a very long break!

Well of course a big hurrah for Friday! Thank goodness this week is over and only 8 more shifts to work.

Work was okay....had that sinking feeling when I woke this morning but not too long to go now. I've just applied for a job that sounds just up my street so fingers crossed.

Went out for tea with my husband which was rather nice and we went to a local Chinese restaurant and it was cheap as chips and loads of food....thought I would struggle but managed to eat it all up!

Then we did the supermarket shop and got a few bargains .

A customer brought her puppy to show me....from the photos I'd thought it was a yorkie....this was no Yorkie.....a blooming Airedale jumping at me and biting my hands!! Lovely to meet him though!

Lovely customers continuing to tell me they are sad that I'm going ....that's a shame because I'm not !! I have met so many lovely people but it really is time to meet some more!

Have a lovely Friday and have a chilly hug if you need one to cool you down in the heat. It's my bedtime now so night night :)

Ampersand: So sorry for you and your friend glad you are there to them. I just don’t know how you’d begin to deal with that.

A pleasure…We went to Mr T last night, we only went for milk! Suffice to say we had enough RTC’d bits for a petrol voucher!, DH left me pondering around, tbh I don’t complain as I got to properly stop and ponder things and he came back with a Kindle Fire HD on offer and paid for… Well his precise words were I used the Kindle so much it’s like I have been lost, and I won’t have to faff about with a light at night. So I have a shiney new fangled toy and case, and he dug out a laptop bag with various pockets within it to make sure it’s hidden away. Did I mention I love it, although I registered it and all my books appeared, then I wandered off to see what else it can do and downloaded a couple of free games.

Received a daft phone call loved your cv but could you halve your rate to come and work for us in our swanky canary wharf offices, can you guess what I politely said.

    1. Remembered to put in a repeat prescription
    2. Booked the car in to get the air con re gassed next week.
    3. Spag bol for dinner
    4. Loving the big mallow flowers in the garden

    1) A colleague's leaving do at a local pub, with a very unhealthy but delicious buffet of full-size sausages, southern fried chicken, nachos, garlic bread...

    2) Then a group of us stopped for ice cream on the way back to the office - more .

    3) Got my hair cut and it looks lovely, although my hairdresser still doesn't quite get the idea of "don't use too many products" - it's been washed, conditioned, moisturised, glossed, detangled, conditioned again, styled and then finished with hairspray, each time with the excuse "I'm only using a little bit"! :rotfl:

    4) Picked a few more ripe blackcurrants and have enough for a couple of spoonsful - as long as they're teaspoons, anyway!

    5) Reading a book I got from the Amaz0n 99p kindle offer, and it's surprisingly good for a 'girly' book.

I won't be around for the next few days as I'm away, so have a lovely weekend, all. :)

    Hello lovelys,
Hard to think of too many today. Not a good day for one reason or another but here goes:
    1. BBC news this morning talking about the movie of the book Long Walk to Freedom, Nelson Mandela Story. His inspiring words spoken by Idris Elba who is playing him moved me to tears; “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
    2. Sharing my homemade choc cookies and buns with neighbours over tea and chat.
    3. eating peas straight from the pod from the garden, not enough for a meal (well not now anyway!)
    4. Another exciting Ashes Test cricket day
    5. Listening to First Night at the Proms and now going to turn over to watch Mumford & Sons at the T Festival.
Not a bad day on second thoughts. Hope you all had a good one.:):)

Argh, downhill neighbour has equally shrill and screechy friends over and music blaring. They are in her garden so about 4 metres from my window. What is the protocol? Wait til midnight then send her a text to turn the music down slightly? Ignore it?? Don't know if sons will get to sleep (they haven't managed it yet) and I certainly won't.

(She's normally very verbally noisy and has her stereo playing outside all day in the summer but generally has no music once her sons are in bed. She is 28 but very young for her age.)

    Anyway, pleasures for today!

    1) Not one, but two emails from High Lord of Special Educational Services! Not actually telling me anything but it seems he is going to let me know something (anything!) on Tuesday.

    2) Booked bowling for smaller son's birthday. He has decided he will let a friend go too. :-)

    3) Parent Partnership lady phoned and was glad I had a bit of a go on the phone to the council and dashed off the terse emails.

    4) Watched an ancient edition of Casualty where Harry Harper started.

    5) Posted a boring letter off about my pension. Not that I'll get it til 2035 but had a couple of queries.

    6) Washed the dusty car at mum and dad's.

    7) Went swimming with sons and brother.

    8) Curry for tea.

    9) Went to bingo in the village hall. We didn't win anything this time.

    10) Dropped brother off at home and stopped to play a game of table tennis. Ended up playing til 10.15!

    1. Sunshine :)

    2. DD and I went to G's daughter's birthday tea, lots of overexcited teenagers and younger.

    3. My chum P and I went to see a fab singer we know in a local pub. She drove so I could have a beverage, had a pint of lager shandy then lime and soda, slurp!

    4. Great day at work, despite busyness and a slightly annoying colleague.

    5. DD received an amazing report and her teacher told me her assessment levels which I was very happy with. She takes after me in loving reading, and it shows :)

    6. Good chat with my parents on the phone, they're itching to have us up there :)

    7. A couple more chums have said they're coming to our party tomorrow afternoon, yay :)
